Yippy got mine today!! Wow that was fast...Thank you Betty.
8TH DG On-Line Christmas Craft Workshop by Betty/all welcome
Got mine today. On more time... Are the mats already sealed? Thank you, Betty
Got mine, Thank you so much.
Yes, I sealed them before sending just incase chemicals wouldn't be allowed through the post office
So you are free to start being creative
I'm always near dg so won't let you down, ask questions and I'll answer
Your postal service is the quickest, sure wish it was here
Dianne, mailed yours from USA as well as I knew you would get it sooner
Ours came yesterday too Betty. Sean is looking forward to our day together.....Thank you.
so glad they are arriving, in record time as well
if in my first post I haven't marked you as 'paid' and/or 'received kit' please let me know
Barb, I'm more than excited, do hope while you are all working on them you post photo's from time to time..I so get enjoyment and satisfaction out of that
think LindaKay you asked me to take photo's when the girls were doing them here, let's see if I can find them
Betty, the PO seems to be delivering more quickly than in the past. Less damage, too. maybe that video about how they handled packages (UPS and FedEx, too) has made them more conscientious.
Thanks for answering my question! i will probably start painting next week. Got to much to finish now before I start anything else! LOL
1. after your blue is dried, girls used hairdryer, they took a sponge brush, any large brush will do and quickly dampened the surface with water, not sopping wet but just to give it a shine..not too important to get the bottom 3" done
most important thing is doing the next procedure 'quickly'
2. next came adding white (top) med. blue (center) dk blue (bottom)
just helter skelter, won't look pretty but don't worry
3. then took plastic wrap, if you don't have a roll plastic bags will do
lay it quickly over your piece..if you think the paints are drying then take your brush and add a little so that the paint is workable
KEY WORD again is quickly
now place your hands on the surface, just push the paint around until it softens
good girls and guy
don't leave big blotches
if when you remove the plastic you are not happy, few imperfections then crumble up a piece of plastic..leave it with the grooves, just touch water then softy dab your surface if you need more paint, with this piece of plastic go into it and dab slightly again..
if at the end you hate it (hope note) simply let dry and do again
Julie, know you are busy but at least if you gave it the background base blue and let it dry on its own it would be helpful
what I often do is the basecoat, then another day the smooshing
then when I have time I can sit here and tthere and work on it..no clean up mess then
What wonderful advice, Betty! Thank you! Will do the blue base today! :)
Betty, did you not get my envelope yet?
I'll be printing out directions as we go...lol still working on the wine glass! with that i am ready to do the nose.
Barbara when are you and Sean having your workshop?
Happy painting everyone!
not yet Judy, takes longer to get to Canada
got mine yesterday as well. po did a good job.....dh not so much. laying in his garage...ugh
So laughing, well you are lucky it was there & he got it to you before the end of Christmas season!
Got my package Betty. Card will go out on Friday. Thanks ♡
Sean and I haven't set a date yet. His school schedule and sports schedule is in the works so I won't know until next week. Plenty of time yet though.....
Sweet Betty, is there anything you use on the back of the mat to make it non-skid? I plan to put mine in front of the fireplace (electric) on hardwood floor. I used clear silicone on my elf slippers to make them non-skid, but just wondering if you have another idea? Thanks, Julie
Sticks pretty good, you could buy at $$$ store the rolls of non slide matting lay on the floor and put floormatts over it
got my envelope thank you betty
Wow!!! Good smooshing. Now this part I could have done. It's the rest that gives me the nervous fits. Happy to be lurking.

Ohhh looking good LindaKay!
Wasn't that hard now was it..looks soft and well blended
Now comes the easy part Karen
I forgot to tell others don't go for too white or your snowmen wont show up
That was pretty easy, I had fun smooshing!
Karen, the snowmen on the glasses were very easy to do, and they are pretty much the same here. You can do this!
Lurking
Neat smooshing, looks like a blizzard.
Thanks, karen! I had fun smooshing! Put the paint and extender directly on the mat, put a glove on my hand, and smooshed away! Some of the blue is metallic, so it glitters! I love glitter! :)
Love your smooshing technique.
Me, too! If it blended too much, I just put on a litlle more paint and smooshed a little more. The paint extender helped a lot.
Great job,extender works well
Whatever method used for smooshing is fine
I find with the sawn wrap you get the textured lines
Your turned out great julie, does indeed look like a blizzard, and once you have snowflakes what a scene it will be
Looking good gals
Was thinking Barb, you did the technique when you were here doing the sleighs
Betty, what is the secret to painting the stencils without the paint running underneath the stencil? I always have a problem with that! See how much I need you? And you are always here guiding us all the way! Love ya
I sure did smoosh when I was at your house Betty!!!! Norm did the smoozing and I did the
smooshing!!!!! Timmies anyone?
Too funny Barb
You have no idea how many times early morning I feel like a timmies and I think 'now if Norm was here'. Lol
So it won't intimidate you
Julie, I put paint on a scruffy brush, take most of it off on a towel then pounce, don't like snowflakes pure white so if I lightly pounce it gives me a see through snowflake
Thanks, Will try it!
Looks like you all are getting the hang of it with Betty's help. Looking good! Maybe when I get my daughter through Nursing School, I will be able to join in. But for now I will watch the progress you all are making. ;)
I know what you mean, Nanny. My daughter starts cosmetology school next May, and I'll be paying about $500 a month for a year. She doesn't want to take out student loans, so we are going to try to make it work. If not, we'll take out a loan for just enough to get her finished.
Always seems to be something that takes up our $$$$
Hi Betty, I got my package yesterday and unpacked it, thanks so much! Hoping to have time this weekend to start, right now the vinyl is resting to flatten it out.
I can't find the sealer you recommended, our WM and Homie do not seem to carry it. What kind of sealer should I get, does it need to be waterbased? I am just afraid of having it make the paints run if I put the wrong type on top of it all
I know, Betty! But she has plans to start her own business. After cosmetology school, she plans to get a business degree at night! So, the money is for her future and mine... she says that she'll always take care of me and would build me a castle if I wanted one! She is such a good girl!
Let's hope she does well julie
Terri it's pre sealed, once it's painted I should have a name of a USA finish for coating..will look in the stores this weekend to see what there is
So Terri it's ready to start your painting
