HAhahahahahah .. LMAO .. BFF Jo would be sitting beside you Betty eating that red licorise .. I like FRESH black ..

I'll try to get a 'new glasses pic' .. Took Lorna 45 minutes to notice i had new glasses LoL
Much similar to my pinkish ones, but, blue with a bit of irridesence.
Been trying to ket 'used' to them .. still making MEGA spelling mistakes LoL

LndaK .. Tortiere is French Canadian Meat pie .. kinda sancro sanct around Christmas time .. you can google it to your hearts content, BUT, seems every Canadian household has THE BEST recipe hidden away LoL

Been wondering and thinking about Katie .. what is ODILE doing now (the storm)?

OK .. I am off to bed, soon

Night night

~M~

just popping to say goodnight.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Another busy day. Just got back home and collapsed on the couch to check in!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Those meat pies sound good!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

We thought we were going to have about 12 people here for dinner, plus 2 more I have been providing dinner for the next day (think doggy bag) and guess Kev forgot to tell me the count had dropped! Only had 7 so I have leftover coming out my ears. I always cook too much anyhow but ....

Kev will bring enough food to work for himself and client, I will bring 2 helpings to co-workers husband & son and I guess Ben & I have dinner for another night or two! Didn't touch one whole loaf of garlic bread!

THE GRAVEL SHOWED UP TODAY! I have 2 giant piles of gravel in the front. They couldn't spread it (by opening the gate slightly and tipping the load, then running). We have overhead lines so we had to be satisfied with just 2 piles. We have a skidsteer (like back hoe) coming with operator tomorrow to do some of the spreading. I'll do the finishing touches and places he can't get to with the equipment. 30 tons of gravel...

Life is good!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

30 TONS of gravel .. I'd dig a hole in the middle of it and bury myself LoL
Best of luck with that Pat ..

Having MORE issues re the drug reaction .. mucous membrane of my left eye .. have a HUGE sty on it .. OW is it sore, am going to do the tea bag thing and I have some antibiotic salve to put on it .. was supposed to be going to a Hospice Workshop this weekend, but, I think that isn't going to happen :-(

Lorna is trying to decide whether or not to go to work .. looks as though there is rain all around us ...
DH is off to class at 8am .. not sure what is going to transpire today .. hate surprises LoL

Hope everyone has a stellar day

Can you believe all this hype for the new Apple phone ! geez, i think its crazy but hey who' m am i to judge LOL . Standing in line for weeks ???
welp a busy day
up to get kids off to school
then off to the apple orchard ,
going to be a very nice weekend weather wise , may get some rain sat night ?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all

On the cool side but sun is trying its best to come out.

Joyce, here is hoping next week will be easier on you, a tme to put your feet up and relax, doubt that ever happens

Was checking out the new iPad Sue, lots of new features..just get comfy with one and they tempt you with a new one..hope your work day goes well

"M" please don't send the rainy weather this way, need a weekend to start putting garden things away and closing in the back deck..job in itself. Yuk on the sty, will it never end for you..hope Lorna does get to stay home, make a long weekend of it.

LindaKay, get everything you needed in town? You must be working on something..care to share

Pat, was someone suppose to let you know the numbers had decreased? oh well look at you, have plenty of leftovers to feed those helping with the gravel..Lordy 30 tons..won't take that long with the skidster then project well done.

Sitting here with my coffee, did a bit of house cleaning earlier and now am trying to determine what I want to do, finish jacket, put a quilt on the frame, pick a room and clean it from top to bottom

Hmmm why not all 3..grinning
Overwhelming I'm sure seeing that

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No, not working on anything, but trying to keep the house clean and free of furry balls from the two dogs! Never ending job it seems. Going to get the oil changed in the truck in about an hour, then back home to strip the beds, and wash the sheets!

"M", sorry to hear about the sty. Sure hope it clears up quickly!

Victoria Harbour, ON

then we've the same agenda LindaKay, not the oil change but house cleaning..can always do a few fun things on my break

nothing worse when the furries start shedding..I always blamed poor Sailor but the kitties sure leave a pile of fur as well.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Seems like these two shed year round.

Victoria Harbour, ON

maybe because of your extreme heat all year round

new coats for the kitties as fall is here

lordy, Riley even slept with me last night..took 12 the bed

decided to sew the backing for one of the Christmas quilts before heading upstairs that way on my break I can pin it to the leaders

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Kev was throwing the party and he should have told me, he didn't. Oh well. Nothing will be wasted.

If I had a wheelbarrow I'd be out there now working on the areas the machinery can't get to.

Tonight after work I drive the truck & go with oldest son to shovel rock with him. I figure we have at least 3 more loads before we will have his free 3 ton of river rock moved. I'm a glutton for punishment. My own project was more than enough but I've his too.

I miss my cat a lot but I don't miss the hair EVERYWHERE in great quantities. I know my Sister feeds the dog a supplement that helps reduce shedding. She just had Maggie her Pug shaved again, Maggie LOVES it!

I've had a sty, OUCH. I hope it resolves quickly for you.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Our Molly is a Golden- Lab mix. I do believe those two are the worst shedders. Hubby combs her daily, gets great gobs of fur daily, and still it's all over the house.

Hoping to finish the next tree skirt today. I only have the binding to do but I do have Amelia to help me. She's actually gotten pretty good about my sewing room, I can leave the door open while I'm in there. She knows what she cannot touch but that doesn't mean she won't put her fingers on and wait until I tell her to stop.

"M" so sorry about the sty, those are so painful. I do hope you've noted all the ingredients in that med so they can can be totally avoided in future.

Victoria Harbour, ON

any progress on the daycare issue Karen? Wouldn't I just love a little helper, big sigh, no girls just boys but that's ok enjoyed them in woodworking projects. Lol
You are making progress with the tree skirts...wish my class was shortly.

Just got an email from Jeff, I emailed them and told them to p,ease get their Christmas list ready, didn't take him long to respond

He was never interested is woodworking but has now a love for woodworking..made a few custom paddles for he and the boys, constructing a work area in the garage, woodworking bench so sent me a link to a vise he'd like..then he went on to tell me he used my discount number each time he orders from Lee Valley. Lol. Leave it to him

Think as I'm driving mom to the city next Saturday morning I will go into the city and pick it up..That is 3 out of 10 of the major gifts looked after..making headway

What an odd day, can't seem to settle in, flicker like a firefly from one thing to another

Wondered why I was hungry, didn't eat last night so meat pie is in the oven

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I haven't heard any more from April, but I suppose these things don't get rushed. I had to deal with a state licensing agency once and I finally won but it took months.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hi - just a quick note before I go pack the Motorhome....... heading out in a couple of hours, and back on Sunday.
Love to everyone - Sistahs & Bruddah!! (hehehe Ernie)

Betty, get Jeff and start builfing an ARK!! Lawsie, the rain is falling thick, heavy and hard here .. almost looks SLUSHY to me .. GADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did zippety doo dah today .. Lorna has been feeling unwell, the trots and a bit of rumbly tummy .. DH and myself are OK ..

Susan .. have a fun weekend .. .. is it still cool ??

Nothing new to report re the sty .. it does itch so and keeping my hands off of it is NOT easy !

Hope all are well
Enjoy your evening

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh Karen it's beautiful, now you need some fabric to make the bow for closure, that's what I'm waiting on the most for the seminar I'm going to..will be adding one to each of the tree skirts I'm making! How many more must you get done?

Susan, enjoy your time away..is it only for the weekend?

"M" so far no rain today but they are calling for some on the weekend.Sorry the itching is back, just when you thought you would be ok

Rita and June were here for a few hours..Rita got a new. Hair design and looks fantastic, told her being a grandma to a little fella agrees with her lol. She had photo's, omg he's the sweetest, 2 weeks old and 10lbs 5 oz, just soooo cute

Lordy, finished the jacket, washed it, just need to sew on 4 buttons, don't like it...grrr
Be ok for someone.

Lining, batting on the frame, just the top to add and it will be ready for quilting..base coated 2 wine glasses to paint snowman on them,

Pressed a lot of slacks/tops, did some cleaning and made a list of things I need in town before getting mom..

She will spend the night, i will take her back to the residence once she has her perm tomorrow

missy is sitting here looking at me, think she is begging for treats, guess if best get her some

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Six more tree skirts to do but again, no rush, some of the grands are still pre-teens.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Next week will be better. I've had a good day today. My cleaning job for today got postponed. So I spent most of the day in the garden. Pulled and cut back a bunch of stuff. Cleaned the filters on the pond and did some general tidying of things. Still have lots of weeds, mainly clover that I could be working on but instead I'm sitting on the swing by the pond drinking a beer. ;o)

Sent a text to Bertie to join me, but she didn't respond. She could be gone, or taking a nap!!

Sorry about your sty, Marilynne. Hope you get some relief soon.

Barb, love the tree skirt. If I didn't just get a wonderful one from Betty, I'd ask you to adopt me!! LOL!

Well when I sat down here I was quite comfortable in shorts and a tank top, but I added a sweater a bit ago and I'm thinking it's time to head inside. Think I'll bake some fish for dinner along with a baked potato and some black bean corn salad. It's really yummy with corn from the garden I froze. Wish you all were joining me!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Joyce - the tree skirt is Karen's!!!!! Not mine. Sure wish it were mine though!!!!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

LOL .. I have one from Barb, and it is amazing :-)

Ummm .. where would you put the bow ??
Don't prezzies go onto the skirt ..

Nice to hear Rita is a Glam Gram ^_^

Crows are in a frenzy out there, best go and see what's up !

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Joyce can see you on that swing, listening to the pond and designing for next year! Wish I was there to join you..when Rita. Was here I told her I invited myself to a sleep over for her and I if all goes well..her face lit up lol I said nothing like planning early..she reminded me 13 more weeks...not that long in the scheme of things

That isn't many Karen, althought he kids are pre teen time flies and as your having difficulties with the quilting best have them ready before you cant do them

As for the bow it at the top of the slit where the round opening is, used as a tie..haven't put any on mine so great way to finish them off

"M" will tell Rita of the nickname Glam Gran, suits her perfectly! Lol

Drats I hate the idea of getting out of my nightie to drive n to pick up mom big sigh, won't put it away as I will put it on as soon as I return from town..do have to go get an electric can opener at Walmart, drats hands were bothering me so much I could use the hand one..hmmm maybe it needs to be updated.

best I put a few curls in my hair, perm n the a.m. So won't spend a lot of time on it

Time to get a move on

Victoria Harbour, ON

frayed jacket

photo 1 front - I need to sew 4 buttons on

photo 4

can't have mom come tonight and I say goodnight right away so just might sketch the face of the snowman and his hat brim, if nothing else I've started..

Jacket turned out cute. Sorry you don't like it!!

Sorry Karen....the compliments go to you!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

It's what worries me Betty, Just doing the binding on this one, my hands cramped and twisted into knots. Sometimes I can just sew for quite a while and others a few minutes is all I get. I close all mine with Velcro, Joann's has some in many colors and just $.99 per package. I'm really wanting to start one in a Mariner's Compass but sure nervous about it. I've not done any paper piecing. Before I start, I'm copying the pattern, just in case I like it and want to make another It was quite expensive and I sure don't want to buy another.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Guess you just have to do a bit on good days Karen..always said you an take my legs but not my hands/eyes.

Went to Walmart to get an electric can opener, no electric can openers, imagine..they said they were a thing of the past. Lol. So bought the best hand held one, here is hoping it works.

Calling it a night, think mom will stay up a tad longer but I'm all in

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

They still have electric openers Betty.

http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?ic=16_0&Find=Find&search_query=Can+opener&Find=Find&search_constraint=0

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Karen, start with a very simple pattern and do it a bunch of times with scraps. Until you feel very comfortable with the process. Paper piecing was very awkward for me to grasp. When I finally got it, I had one of those "duh" moments.
If I dont do any for awhile, I have to really think about it for a few pieces.
Maybe just me.
I did a compass. It was much easier than I'd thought it would be.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

The place I got the pattern has a tutorial. I had watched it and it didn't look too bad so decided to give it a shot. I'll probably watch it over and over, I've been known to do that.

Victoria Harbour, ON

A cHallenge Karen, you will master it as Thunder has

Thunder your piece was spectacular

Guess who can't sleep

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Up and welcoming a warmer day ..

Left eye is becoming more worrisome .. going to have to make a decision soon.

Laundry on my horizon, but, my Keurig carousel is tempting me with all kinds of coffees.

Enjoy your day everyone

~M~

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Don't mess with that eye "M". A big problem there is the last thing you need. At least get it checked. Please......
Karen - you will do just fine with the paper piecing. Do a practice piece as Thunder suggests. You can get some images on Quilter's Cache for a block or two and just print them out (free) and give it a try. I have done several including a Mariner's Compass and if I can do it so can you!!!!LOL
Your jacket came out nice Betty - why don't you like it?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Karen, when you get it figured out, you can show us your progress, and give us a tutorial.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Suuuurrrreeee. I'll be a pro by then LOLOLOLOLOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon,

"M" no more thinking my sweet, as the others say, off to have it looked after!

Karen, I'll be waiting for the tutorial

Mom and I look spiffy with our perms

Not quite sure why I got a perm when I had her all but cut it off except for a few hairs...will grow back in..let's just say they will not call me Glam Gran! Lol

Dropped mom off at the Residence, Lordy they've just yesterday opened the new foyer, couches, fireplace, coffee nook, better than most hotels..if I didn't have so much work to do I'd stay there myself

Then off to pick up roll of heavy plastic , wooden slats to do back deck, look at still pretty it is in the gardens and don't feel much like closing it in..best I put my hands in the freezer to remind myself just how cold it will be doing it when it's blowing and snowing so best I put my turkey breast in the oven, put turnip & potatoes on and start taking the stained glass down or hang it back up once the plastic is up..still have quite a bit of RWB out there, time to put it to bed as well.

Raining so no grass cutting..will sweep and clean the front deck so when I put Halloween things out in a few weeks it will look pretty.

Have mom's bedding in the wash, going to vacuum and spray flooring cleaner see if I can't make these floors shine

Nope, not today, did order a piece of wood to be laminated 30x42x 2 1/2 thick ..
wood alone was $80 so he will find out the labour for playing and laminated, said he would call to let me know just how much so I will not be shocked...good plan

Did look at some beautiful flooring while at Timbrr Mart
That ought to fill in the afternoon

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

M is still hanging back re the eye ..
I know, but, my vision is fine .. just I have this CRATER under my L eyelid .. I have been looking after it .. and, i PROMISE i will go to have it seen to if I feel it needs to be ..
Dontcha HATE nurses !!!

A day of whatever here .. laundry, tidying, went to the dump .. came back and had a fire ..
did supper and we were GOING to light up the big firepit, but, Lorna is not feeling well .. likely light it up when DS and fam are available.

Am SO hoping to SLEEP IN tomorrow .. seems I see 5am on the clock and feel I should get up .. gotta stop that !!!!

Betty .. hope the deck closing goes well ..

TOODLES

~M~

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty you be sure and keep breathing real steady while waiting on that tutorial. I don't want you turning blue or anything like that.
