Happy Birthday to y our Mom Betty!
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends old/new
I will relay the message LindaKay..
What are you up to today?
Getting ready to go shopping for food. I hate going to Walmart, so I only go when I have too!
Normally I never buy eats at Walmart, always try to shop at our town's Foodland as I hope by doing so it keeps the store in town.
Not often I give up on a project but might do so with the jagged edge jacket..don't like how the sleeves fit..jacket fits well but sleeves look 5 sizes too big and I even cot then down from size 14 to 12
Much smaller would be a no no
Sorry the jacket is not working out. Maybe take one of yours that fits good, and use it as a pattern?
We only have two stores for shopping, Walmart and HEB! HEB is so expensive, so we don't have any other choice!
Jacket part fits perfect, guess I got to play a tad more
Boy I get that Linda. When we lived in Othello, it was cheaper for me to pay the $20 in gas to make the trip to Tri-Cities to grocery shop. I tried to not to buy more than milk and bananas at the local store. We had 2 refrigerators to help make that possible.
Betty, if you spliced another piece in the front of the jacket so it was MORE obvious that it was not suppose to meet/match would that improve it visually? I'm no help on the sleeve fit, sorry. I have no doubt you'll find a solution to both.
Alterations were made to accommodate the sleeve..fits perfectly in the socket
I just don't like the sleeve
After all the scary news about Noelle and her daycare (Thank heaven she is okay) I thought you might like to hear about something uplifting. You all know about my grandson Brandon and his love affair with horses. He has started his freshman year at college and is taking two majors one of which is Western Equine Studies. He has many responsibilities at their barn and rides daily. He was advised by his coach to try out for the college equestrian team (competitive). There were 150 eligible to try out and only 50 get selected. AND HE MADE IT!!! He is so excited.
And then, as if that weren’t enough, as he was leaving the barn Monday afternoon these big trailers pulled in and it was one of the Budweiser Clydesdales Hitches…. They are being housed at his barn while they are in the area for appearances. He was so excited to see them. And then----- he was told if he volunteered to park cars, that he could help get them ready to show and could have dinner with the trainers. He was over the moon. It was last night and he talked with one of them for over an hour. And then ----She gave him a number to call to see if he could intern at the Clydesdale facility here in New Hampshire during his summers. So many “and thens”!!!! Norm and I are so thrilled for him as we have seen how hard he worked to get there. It is rewarding to see him get some perks!!!
How exciting for Brandon. I don't think his smile could be any bigger. What a thrill he had getting to meet the trainers. It would be incredible to get to intern at their facility.
Ahhhh Barb, what great news for Brandon, no question, his smile tells it all as it should..
Fantastic that his talents are being recognized.
Deb, what have you been up to? Wanted to say Sharon's dog will have pups next week, hopefully 5 , previous 2 pregnancies have been a disaster!
Bitting my nails here, listening to the news and Katie's area has been hit, hoping her trip home is uneventful and she finds the storm bypassed her neck of the woods
Things have been quiet here. I wish Sharon luck with her litter of pups, I bet she's nervous with this litter after the last two. My boy is still out in Denver with my friend/handler.
praying that the storm missed Katie's area. I would be worried sick being away, if I had animals at home, and all my friends and neighbors knowing they were facing the storm and I wasn't there.
Wonderful opportunities for Brandon, Barb. His face is full of "Christmas Morning wonder and joy"..
I think he would be hard pressed to choose the happier moment: being on the equestrian team; an internship possibility; or a chance to hug a Clydesdale. GRIN
I agree, it is scary not knowing how those you call family and friend are faring. I am happy that Katie is safe though. At least she will be able to bring home things they may need after the weather eases.
Jean, thought she was heading home but taking her time as she was worried about her home and the furries....perhaps she reconsidered!
Hi Betty. Monday Katie said she was leaving to meet her friend in Los Angeles...was planning a 2 day drive and she would see him Wednesday.
I doubt she could even get into the area with the storm warnings and watches. hopefully she will update her trip in the next day or so,
Oh Barb how exciting for Brandon. You heart and Norm's must be just a bursting with pride. My goodness he is a good looking fellow. How wonderful it would be if he actually could hire on with the internship with the Bud horses.
Jean spent the morning listening to Taj Mahal and Buckwheat Zydeco. Just heavenly! You are right about Katie going to LA. I am sure she is stewing about home.
Katie do you think we have to send M the bubble wrap?
Went to Picton on Sunday with friends to get apples. Miss getting them in Meaford Betty.
D
Drats that is right, worried about the furries and hearing of the storms made this mind put 2 +2 together and come up with 5
Won't fret as much then
Dianne, I will have an apple at Grandma Lambs on the 4th for you..what is your favorite apple?
Heading for the cake then sing 'happy birthday' to my mommy
Shouldn't be late

Morning all,
brrrrr is all I can say but suppose to be a nice day!
"M" I'm with you, why can't stores be open at 7a.m. at least..that's when I enjoy my shopping but would make for one heck of a long day for the workers...lol
Bev, so glad you dropped in with an update...think they prefer to use braces nowdays don't they or at least when they can..do they tell you to limit the use of it?
Sue, glad you are enjoying your seasonal work..how many weeks will you get in?
Had a lovely visit with mom, everyone enjoyed the cake I brought..can see fear in her re going home but she says she has to get things organized herself and see if it's too much to live there on her own..time will tell
I'll post a photo in a bit.
no sooner got home Kyle dropped in..stayed till 8pm then was off to Toronto to pick up his girlfriend from university for the weekend.
he was just leaving as Melanie dropped in, she plays floor hockey at 9pm so had a half hour to visit..Greg saw her vehicle so he stopped in..full house but nice to have them visit.

I so wish I could have just a small bit of your weather ladies. It is still hot and humid! I am so ready for it to be a little cooler so I can work outside getting things done before we have winter...such as it is.
Been busy running finishing up some long put off errands. I do that once the students are back in town....just to crazy for the first few weeks. Thanks goodness the first weeks of being away from home and on their own for many of them has past and it is safe to drive again.
Checked in with the dentist about the tooth that broke and it was decided to wait to start work on it until after I return from my trip south. It isn't hurting and it might be more than anticipated so the wait. It broke right at the gum line and he thinks it best I be in town once we start work. I can deal with that!!
Well need to get busy with some put off household chores....later.
picture of mom from last night
drats they fibbed, it's raining and calling for the same until weekend's end
guess that means no gardening and will have to occupy my time with cleaning and sewing as well as bringing mom and myself for a perm on Saturday night.
Marion, you might have to have it looked after before heading south or you 'll not enjoy your time with Sue for the pain you might be in.
Now don't you be wishing for cooler weather just as I'm heading south for 10 days...keep that sunshine at least until then.
She sure looks happy in that picture. Love the cake too.
Nice pic!
Not sweet at all, lemon filling
Sure could use a piece this morning with my coffee
Betty, I did go to the dentist. He took x-rays and we talked about starting the work. That is when I told him I was leaving town for a while and he said it would be okay to wait until I got back. It is not causing any pain.
Nice picture of your mom.
How long will you south Marion..what town is it you will be visiting?
I hope to leave the 24th and return October 7th. I will be in Arcadia.
We will just miss each other again..one day!
Lovely photo of your MoM Betty .. love the nails ^_^
I had a tooth break at the gum a couple of years back, my dentist wasn't too worried, he just drilled or filed it smooth and flush with the tooths other cusp .. feels odd at times, but, it works ..
I had thought 'ROOT CANAL'!!! But, noppers ..
Have been doing 'oil pulling' for 4 days now .. you can google it .. it simply means I put a Tbsp of coconut oil in my mouth, shut my mouth, it melts in like seconds and I SWISH for 15-20 minutes (thank heavens for answering machines) !! I do find a difference in my gums, and, since I'm a flossaholic this might even be one step better at preventing bacteria ..
Just finished the INGLORIOUS task of cleaning the 2 toilets .. I have used a Watkins product for a few years now as our water is hard .. man o man, you squirt that stuff into the bowl and vapour appears (hydrochloric acid) septic safe though ..
Got my new specs .. jury is out on'em .. feel kind of nauseated .. and, why I chose blue I have NO idea?
Take some getting used to ..
Cool day has turned sunny .. glad I hung the clothes outside, but, i best go get them in ..
DH has been up on the roof cleaning the chimney and replacing firebrick in the woodstove .. then, he decided to clean the gutters, BEFORE the leaves have fallen ..!!!
Hope everyone is well and happy and safe and warm and dry ^_^
~M~
Lots on the 'to do' list done "M"
You will be ready for winter and Santa of course now that you've cleaned the chimney. Lol
I still am pleased with just having to take my teeth out and brushing them (grinning)
Sun is out, nice fll dy, Went grocery shopping , market for fresh beans/carrot..I'll put a tortierre in the oven and won't have to cook for a few days, makes me a happy camper.
Aunt Muriel visited with mom this afternoon so I won't drop in for supper, relaxing night at home..who knows I just might get some yard work done
"M", I would love to see your new glasses. I have thought about getting red or blue ones several times, but have not done it yet!
Betty, what is a tortierre?
Betty, when I had my Dad here, I was told by the dentist to never brush his dentures, as the material they are made from are very porous, and you can damage them. So we stocked up on denture cleaning tablets. He still liked to brush his gums once the teeth were soaking.
I've had this and one other set in the last 46 years
Can eat anything, never take them out of my mouth, never a bothersome canker and brush a couple times a day so guess I'm lucky
Going to have get new glasses shortly as well..Lordy they are expensive..tempted to get them checked, get a perscription and have filled wheni in Florida.
Tortierre = French meat pie
Was going to cook myself a home cooked meal but decided tomorrow is another day
Could it have something to do with a 1/2 a bag of red licorice lol
Almost finished my jacket, just need to sew around the edge, put buttonholes and cover buttons and it's done..I have to ponder if I lke it or not
