AWE! Bet your in heaven listening to his music! Thanks for the rolls!
oh my Betty!.......how scary is this re: Linda's husband David!! glad he's fine........
Joyce - prayers & thoughts for Bill's surgery today! I'm sure it will go as smoothly as the previous one :-)
Love & prayers for all!
i've known a few breeders that cook their own dog food and claim it's MUCH cheaper with the side benefit of less poop to clean up. Their's is all vegetables i thought with occassional meat bones from butcher.
Hot tubs can be dangerous for some people.
Prayers for those in need.
I for one cannot go into a hot tub.
I simply cut ribs into two bone pieces, brown both sides and set aside. Make the sauce sans any other meat. put ribs into sauce and simmer until tender 4-5 hours. More if you want them to fall off the bones. serve over pasta. I usually put ribs on a separate platter.
Garlic bread... cut hard rolls in half, melt butter and add garlic powder. brush over roll tops. sprinkle liberally with fresh grated Romano or Parmesan cheese, broil until nicely brown. Watch they go from brown to burnt rather quickly.
Debbie, I'm sure smilling Debbie
You deserve to be crying happy tears AND listening to music..a day in heaven for sure.
Think I must be lazy, I've never fed any of my doggies anything but bagged food and perhaps some table scraps..famous for that!
Deb, any more dog shows coming up..one of Sharon's American Eskimo is having pups, expecting 5, sure hope she has better luck at birthing.
Susan, hear some places in Alberta got a hefty fall of snow..any in Calgary!
Karen that is out for me, you know how I char my food. Lol
LindaKay, how's dad?
Joyce sending positive thoughts and prayers for Bill, you and his medical team. Will they put a stent in or just remove the stones?
Yum Karen. I sometimes make my chili with ribs - very good tasting.
LK I think you might have hit the nail on the head - I think it might be a brush with wild parsnip. It is very toxic and I try to avoid it but I was in an area where there was hardly any path and Mr Greased Lightning (Duke) pushed by me and shoved me off the path into the weeds. My goodness I would hate to see Duke without his meds and the miles we walk every day. He goes Tues to be sedated to have his nails clipped. This is such a stressful time for him and the last time Dr Heather tried without sedation it was a disaster. Sure wish I knew what happened to the poor little guy before he was rescued - on second thought maybe I don't want to know.Anyway I had a patch of this on my calf way back in June and I do know I was in the poison parsnip then. It is worse than poison ivy or oak.
When I was a kid and into my late teens I used to get canker sores from too many tomatoes.Fingers crossed haven't had any for years and years. Hard not to feast on these lovely tomatoes when they are in season. I need to get to see my Tomato Lady - she is the only 1 around my area that grows heritage tomatoes. I love their taste !
Ouch.. poor Gord. Gout is so painful. I don't speak from having it myself but living with a man who finally ended up on medication (Alipourinal) because he suffered so badly from gout. Even the bed sheets hurt his foot when Warren was having an episode. Debbie's Paul also takes medication for gout too.
Pretty scary for your friend Linda Betty. She is going to stop leaving home if things like this keep happening to her and her loved ones. Poor guy! Does she drive if David is unable to do so?
Great deal on the ceiling fan Betty. My huge one at the top of the stairs gave up the ghost a couple of weeks ago. We installed it when we built the house in 2001 and it ran 24/7. I'll have to get another one before wood burning season starts. It is an oversized fan so have to be careful what I buy. I have 3 other ceiling fans that I bought at Cdn Tire a few years ago during 1 of their mega sales. Have you noticed how huge their price cuts are at CT now that Lowes, HD and Rona are here in Canada?
Debbie I think maybe your Shane is smiling too while he is at the piano. He must have missed making music a great deal but 1 has to do what 1 has to do to survive. Do you like the GF or is that an unfair question?
Walk time again.
Dianne
Morning everyone. Joyce, sending good thoughts for Bill's surgery.
All this talk about spaghetti....yes, we are having a version of that tonight. Kim likes spaghetti with steamed broccoli, saute onions and fresh tomatoes diced. She usually prepares it as it is quick and simple...very good also. Not sure all of the seasonings she uses and I don't really inquire as this is her specialty dish. Fine with me, then she always prepares it. :-)
Getting ready to make a trip in to town..I so hate it during the first few weeks the students are back. It is pure torture!
Betty, so sorry to hear about Linda's hubby. Did they say it was just heat exhaustion?
Dianne, take care of that rash. Go see the Dr. if you need too!
Marion, that sounds good too, all these different recipes for spaghetti!
And those ribs that simmer in the sauce!!! YUM!
Dianne, not sure what poisin parsnip is, likely it's wild and in my region..I'm highly allergic to poisin ivy but never had a reaction to other weeds
As for my fan Dianne, imagine no light in bedroom except that on the fan, so in order to turn the light on I have to get out to turn switch off, existing one works fine but this one with remote control will be a plus, besides I won't have to dust the one that is up now. Lol
Suzanne just called, her youngest grandaughter has been having seizures, she has been a sick kids hospital several times but they have not found out why..they re on their way to hospital..drats and more drats
Joyce, best wishes for Bill .. are they going to blast the stones with a lazer?
Gosh amighty, hadn't you said Linda fell a the beginning of the trip, I know I laughed as you said she needed her 'bubble suit' .. as for David .. well .. as we age (and we all DO), those 'hot tubs, saunas and whirlpools' become dangerous propositions .. in Thunder Bay we have the largest Finnish population outside of Finland, and we have MANY saunas .. 'most' have signage stating the dangers of staying to long if you are on blood pressure meds, diuretics or cholesterol meds .. actually if your 55 or over you should kinda try and avoid those really HOT whizzy pools as they play havoc with your circulation ..
Sure hope he has no problem driving home !
Were they on the Canadian side of the Falls?
Debbie .. LOVE that pic .. you msut be so happy ^_^
Thanks LindaK and MomC for the links .. we picked up the raw food this morning .. enough for perhaps 3 months .. $400. .. it is all frozen in blocks, we have 'dog food making' days where we cut and bag the meat and veggie blocks by portion size .. BORING!!!
Kibble would be so much easier ..
Our re homer, Zoey, was a kibbler .. we have switched her to PetValus frozen pucks .. but, still give her a small bit of kibble with it ..
We 'free feed' dental kibble' from the vets..
Anyway .. I am about to make dog treats, just have to find a recipe with all the ingredients I have available LoL
Shine on people!!
Still foggy and cool here ..

Yes I am happy, and he is making me grilled talapia & rice for lunch. BIG smile.
His GF is very sweet, I have known her since she was a baby, they all went to school together.
Yes, hot tubs can do a number with blood pressure and cause heat stroke. Pregnant women and those on meds should avoid.
we had a police officer in Rochester killed last night. Prayers for the family, no name released as yet.
Hugs to all
Yes it happened on Canadian side, Niagara falls
Said thank goodness as she is still dealing with USA insurance company.
Debbie, sorry to hear about the officer..his poor family
"M" wow, that is a lot of $$$$, Lordy, doesn't cost me that to eat. Lol
No dog shows in the area. My boy Tyler is still out in Colorado with a friend/handler. She's showing him some, but no great wins to speak of. Afghan hound club of Denver is having shows this weekend he's entered in, so I"m keeping my fingers crossed. Hoping for puppies here, next time Sissy comes in season, sometime in Dec, I think. Also hoping for a Tyler baby, as that's part of the reason he's visiting colorado!
Debbie, the grilled talapia sounds yummy!
Great exposure Deb for Tyler..may Taylor get friskie
Mom just called, the gentleman at her dinner table's birthday is Monday..she is anxious to order a cake.
Bill is out and in his room. They got all the stone. He is in mega pain. He's also hurting in his throat from the tube they had down there during surgery.
Sounds like she's having a good time.
Glad to hear Bill is out but sorry about the pain. Sending hugs.
Thank goodness it is all behind Bill..here is hoping that he gets something for pain...
Now home you go and get some rest, you must have been worried and now in need of rest yourself.
I'm off to visit and have supper with mom.
Bill's pain is under control now. They finally got the morphine pump working right. I just ordered his dinner. They're going to get him up to walk at 8:00. I'll stay here a while. Eventually I'll go home to take care of the critters and sleep. I'm supposed to clean house tomorrow. I may postpone that until Monday.
Glad all is ok..
Yep, rest tomorrow, under the circumstances I'm sure your client can wait and doesn't mind waiting.
Good meal at the residence, mom again in good humour
Sure wish she's stay there
If its not raining tomorrow afternoon I think I'll take her shopping.
Asked her if she would like to come spend Saturday night and I will take her back to the residence on Sunday afternoon...we'll see!
Where will she go if she does not stay at the home?
She has her home in the city..problem is the 3 floors
Go have someone board up the doors so she can't get upstairs. :)
Lol
Lotsa chit chat ^_^
Joyce .. good to hear DH is more comfortable .. hope you get some much needed rest, but, I know you'll worry ..
Betty, LindaK has a good idea .. block up the upper floors.
My elderly grand parents did 'way back when', every winter, they would block off the upper floor, move their living space to the lower level .. cheaper to heat just one level ..
Hope someone gets a cake for thr BDay boy .. does he have family?
DH made ribs tonight on the BBQ .. OMG .. he does asn amazing job ...
He's off to a Sportsmans show in the morning with some buds .. be home late Saturday or early Sunday .. I prefer the later .. his bud who does the driving is a retired cop, and he drives like a weirdo !!!!
Deb .. good luck with Sissy and Tyler and the whole breeding thing .. hit n miss (literally)..
Dianne .. that parsley thing is a HUGE deal down this way .. altho, I'm thinking they are now calling it something else .. ummmmm .. maybe 'hogweed' touch the milk/sap and get burned badly ..
Can I ask you for the name of the author of the book about the country doctor .. Patrick ?
I have completely forgotten it and would like to get a book or 2 .. thanks in advance ^_^
Wonder how Mary and Lance are making out ?
Marion .. Kim's spaghetti recipe sounds wonderful ...
My crew seems to go for the spaghetti mixed in traditional sauce .. I tend to like cooked spaghetti mixed with sauteed onions/garlic and parmesan cheese ..
Want to watch 'Lady Valor' tonight at 9pm on CNN .. hope I get that channel, one of these TVs must !!
Off I go .. made doggie treats today .. and I swear these 3 are waiting for them LoL
Sleep well
~M~
That "Hogweed" is showing up down here too. It's nasty stuff. The write-ups say to even touch is to get messed up badly. It's downstate too in the county my daughter has her farm. I sent them info so the bigger kids can be on the lookout for it. Seems it's hard to get rid of too.
This is what I found on the poison parsnip.
Although this is the same plant as the common garden parsnip we eat in soups and stews, the flower heads are the second year growth from the carrot-like roots. It is a close relative of carrots, parsley, angelica, and giant hogweed, all of which can cause similar skin reactions in sensitive individuals.
Wild parsnips produce a sap, or plant juice, that can cause burns to the skin in the presence of sunlight. In some cases, the burns are similar to second-degree sunburns, and can cause painful rashes and raised blisters.
The Department of Health advises people to avoid the sap or juice produced by the wild parsnip. Avoid skin and eye contact with this sap. If you need to work with the plant:

hi folks
Ok i m going to put a bug in your ear. I know people have other things going on in their lives. I m thinking first week of June for the gathering.
I looked at puppies today. found one i think may fit in well with us . pit/ jack russel mix. I also saw a kitty i like also. This pet rescue place has 80 cats ! and half of them are black. I love black cats. i wonder why so many don't ? and there is a all white kitty... i think it would be fun to have an all blk cat and an all white kitty LOL
OK Thanks Linda, related to Hog weed then but different plant.
Yes it is related.
Morning everyone.
Morning ..
The plant here is GIGANTIC in the ditches, and, you would have to some in contact with its sap.
Most everyone knows about it now, and, avoids it, or, pays the price of the blistering and the rash ..
Hmmmmmmm .. not what i was into or near .. AND, my itchies are subsiding nicely on the prednisone .. but, my sloughing hands and feet are driving me bugnuts !! Specially my feet .. looking at the bottom of your foot is like trying to kiss your elbow !! I use a mirror, DH and Lorna are horrified !! Ahh well . this too shall pass .. soon I hope.
Sue ,, a pittbull/jack russell cross ?? Yikes, I think he might be a handful .. JRussells are kinda 'spun tight' .. have one down the road, aptly named 'CHAOS' .. he never stops spinning around on the leash .. his owner has pretty much given up on training him, but, they love him to death ^_^
OOOOOOOooooo had a black kitty once, a rescue, named her 'BEAR' .. she was a love, miss her as does our senior cat Smokey (20) .. they were inseperable ..
Good luck with the gathering plans ..
How's DH today Joyce? Hope he had a good post op night ..
Betty .. have you heard from Linda re her DH?
Gord is in the midst of getting ready for his trip west .. then Lorna and I are headed for town for haircuts, and, she is going to buy an 'all terrain rollator walker' .. even though her work contract is up on the 19th .. her present walker is kinda 'wussy' for what she does with it ..
Weather is lovely and 'fall like' ..
Hope everyone will have a super day !!

Morning everyone!
I agree about the jack Russel terriers, they are very hyper little dogs!
Morning all
Going to be a scorcher and possible storm later this afternoon.
Only encounter I had with a jack Russell wasn't a good one...
Whom that plants almost looks like our carrot tops (many call it faux queen Ann's lace) but can't be because I have some in the garden from time to time and pull it out without mishap
Boy that Gord does a lot of travelling "M" thankfully you have Lorna and the furries to keep you company
Joyce, guess you will be off to the hospital shortly, don't forget to update us on Bill
Sue, will the gathering encompass a weekend?? Sure hope so
Before you know it June will be here
Think I'd go with the kitty
LindaKay, Linda and Dave were in Niagara falls Canada when this happened, he rested and did well yesterday..docs said if he did so he'd be ok to travel today..it's only a 2 1/2 hr drive from home..knowing them they are on the road home now
Kyle dropped in last night, busy working and travelling to the city to visit his girlfriend in university..going tonight to pick her up for the weekend. Shaking my head, the miles he is putting on his vehicle, takes after his grandmother right. Did not question him about Noah..will wait for Mel and Greg to get their update
Mom asked me to take her shopping this afternoon so I just might stay in my Jammie's until its time to leave and play n the sewing room, try to finish off a few more started projects
What do you all have planned for the day and weekend.
Mornin" everyone. Not much planned for the weekend and I certainly hope it stays that way!! Kim and I want to finish going through some long overdue boxes.
"M" I must admit Kim's version of spaghetti is good. We use the whole wheat pasta so it is acceptable for her eating restrictions......I actually think I like it better than the other pasta. She loves to cook but with her hours when she is back teaching, she doesn't get to much during the year. This was a rare treat!!!
Hope everyone is having a fantastic day.
My former DIL has a Jack Russel that's definitely not breed typical. Was free in a box at the grocery store parking lot. Name is Peanut and he's a love. Best thing about him is he is wonderful with the kids, very tolerant of the babies. In my book that's a good dog.
no snow in Calgary.
today we're heading to Kananaskis, camping (and it is SW of Calgary, so we may hit some flurries....... yuk!)
Going to work, then camping this afternoon.
Cya on Sunday!
At the hospital with Bill. He passed an ok night. Lots of wake ups, but that's normal for a hospital stay. He blew his IV and they came at 4 to redo that. Couldn't find a good vein, so then he was really wide awake!
We're hoping to go home today. Won't know until the urologist comes to see him this afternoon.
Thanks to all for hanging in there with me!!
