Best/Worse/What did I learn today?Welcome friend old/new

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Having my 'cuppa', probably shouldn't as I might be having blood work, but, as it's just part of my routine, I drank without even thinking til it hit my mouth :-(
Took my first dose of benadryl 50mgs, praying for it to work fast .. I asked for a drug called 'atarax' when I was in ER on Wednesday, but the young doc looking after me felt the benadryl would be better (not)

Katie, I'd love to be able to email my docs .. send pic/Skype .. I hear it is done with some of them .. but, I can see where it might get too confusing, and, there's always the free flow of personal info over the net .. Good to see you home and ready to rest up before going back again.

Haven't got clue one what kind of day it is going to be today, do know I will be off to the clinic and there for 10am .. it's sunny out, maybe in the 70s later, sure can't pop on a sundress, people would be hoffified if they saw my arms and legs !!! Mass of red blotches so they are.

Check back in later

Hugs all around

Take care

Victoria Harbour, ON

hope when next you post "M" you will have some answers..

just sprayed myself down with A535 ice, big sigh, now

off to get a few groceries and hair cut (maybe then I'll feel human)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!

Welcome Carole, glad to have you join us!

"M", when I was taking prednisone for 10 days it would not let me sleep, so I had to take sleeping pills. I sure hope you can get to the clinic and be seen right away!

Katie, glad to hear your home, but sorry to hear you have to turn around in a few days for another trip!

Thunder, just tell hubby your quilt is for a gift.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Linda, Thunder probably could have gotten away with the whole "gift" talk if she had not been hiding the RWB quilt away while she worked on it. Don't know if that would work now?

Katie, enjoy your time home. I hate it when businesses are disorganized with problem communication skills! Thank goodness for your PCP.

"M", I hope you get answers and it's an "easy fix".

Later this morning I meet up with my youngest son and help him clean his studio apartment to be free from the rent and completely moved into his newest rental. I dread it.

DH is driving to meet the oldest daughter and bring back the 16 YO grandson for a week.

I have lots to do so I'd better get on it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

"M" must be on her way, anxious to hear what doc has to say...likely no more than running further tests

LindaKay, how is your dad this a.m.

Feel 10 lbs lighter just having my hair cut!

Met a friend at the hairdressers, we lost hubbies about same time, ended up selling our homes about same time, anyway she was telling me about her cousin, 8 months pregnant and out shopping with her two little ones a month ago, woman parked n Costco lot said her foot got caught in sandle, backed up at full speed, went through double doors where mom and tots were leaving..baby was bornderain dead, was kept alive until other children were made ready to receive organs, both mom and other child badly injured..terrible story!

Keep trying to fnd excuses not to cut grass, might as well bite the bullet and get out there..
Sooner I do it sooner I've the day to myself

Victoria Harbour, ON

You've much to keep you busy today Pat, not much room to throw anything else in your day, if you were closer you could help with my yard duty. Lol

Don't work too hard

i was up until 2 am with my BFF . She is the one who lost her mom aug 3. We have not talked like that in yrs. i called her around 10 pm my time . CA time was 7pm.
it was so nice reminising about her mom and life in general.
She was so close to her mom. They were best buddies.
i remember when we were kids around 8-9yrs old.
She would take us to the beach and we would collect mussels. Back then you could dig a fire pit in the sand and cooke them over a kettle on the beach. She instructed us to go get some seaweed off the beach. "fresh, not hard crappy " , So we , her , her sister and i would excitedly go look for seaweed as she prepared our meal.
We eaglerly got back with our prizes of seaweed. She had her concoction of spices . I was always so mesmerized by her cooking on the beach. She would tell us to pretend we were witches making a potion. We would all discuss what kind of potion to make. Should it be love ? evil ? or make someone do funny things ? or maybe turn someone into an animal,? then she had this great laugh.
BTW... they were nude beaches !!!!!! LOL . To this day i don't think my mother knows of this little minor detail. We never were nude nor her mom. IT was just the beach with the greatest mussels . :)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Nice going back in time like that Sue...do you remember where the nude beach is. Lol

Checking in re "M"

Is there no I between for me, I either do nothing or go full bore..will be aching tonight for sure
Holy wahhh

Neighbors grape vine has done a number in the very back of my yard..tink I've lost some of my trees because of it..knew it was growing but really haven't taken the time to remove it and guess with all the rain it grew like jack and the beanstalks vine..

Too bad I paid to get my hair done a few hours ago as I'm soaking wet from struggling with the ivy and cutting down tree limbs

The patio in the very back was all but hidden, so cut and cut and cut
I've piles all over that I must get rid of, perhaps tomorrow, but will go and finish the patio area in a built then have a bath.

Three pine trees to be removed, going to try that after my break

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

What a fun story Taynor. I remember when a good friend of mine lost her husband, she needed to talk to someone who knew him when he was alive and vibrant. Someone not afraid to talk, to discuss the good times with. She had a lot of people in her life that could not talk about him.

Now she is dying and I'm not quite sure how to support her. We have lost touch over the last couple of years and I need to find out what she needs. I do not know where she stands in her faith, she used to be very strong but as she remarried someone who was not of her faith, I believe she drifted away. Her daughter contacted me, told me she is not well enough for visitors but cards would be welcome, that's where I'll start I guess. Her daughter does not think she'll make it to her birthday in November, they have hospice in.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Betty, are these REGULAR old grape vines?? They do love to climb trees! To bad the neighbor doesn't tend their plants to avoid causing you problems.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, your already in pain, the last thing you need to do is cut down vines and trees!!!

Was just talking to Sis, and she is up sitting with Dad. He has been sleeping alot, which is normal for one that has lost a lot of blood, but he mumbles and cries in his sleep. I told Kathy to tell the nurse and or Dr. He may be in pain and need more meds?

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

I'm HOME ...
Saw the doc, thankfully i know him, took my blouse off and his jaw dropped, really I look scalded completely front and bac .. first question from him, 'is your tongue swollen', it isn't, and I can swallow ..
I have had an EXTREMELY bad reaction to plaquenil .. actually, it's the 'quinine' in it.
I am to STOP taking my celebrex too .. not liking that, but, if it'll help so be it .. celebrex is an
NSAID (non steroidal anti inflammatory) helps this arthritic body move, but, with being on the prednisone, that's no problem at all right now.
SO ... I will just have to wait out this reaction .. he feels it could take as long as 2-3 weeks !!!
Thanks for all your encouragement and hugs and prayers, see that, they helped ^_^

Pat .. do enjoy the house cleaning, gag me .. my least fave thing in the world to do .. have fun with your grandson .. 16 is an interesting age to be these days 'wired for sound'
As for your dying friend, can you send a card and then suggest a visit? She probably may just need someone to sit with her, and talk, or not talk.
I do Hospice in the community .. love it.

Sue .. what a great time you must have had with your friend .. memories are precious.

Off to take benadryl and prednisone and cut one of the lawns .. I'm to stay out of the sun, so, will have to cover up ..
Am just SO releived I'm not IN the hospital !!!!!!!

HUGS

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Guess "M" it is somewhat good news, but 2 or 3 weeks, drats how will you endure that? He was sure then it's due to reaction of new meds..Lordy just goes to show you doesn't it, you take something to help ease pain and worse off for it. You will certainly have to have that on your ...allergy...list

Stopped for a bit, June wanted to drop n and check out the pumpkins wine glass sets I've been painting..says she is off to the $$store for glasses. Lol
Wanted to buy a set ut told her they were already spoken for. She told me to paint myself a sign calling it the hidden gardens seeing everything has grown so tall..my clue more needs to be pulled

She asked why I wasn't in midland on main street which is closed for artisans, too pooped to go
She said that the tugboats are all out on the bay tonight, decorated and lit up, again too pooped.
I'm hoping someone visited with mom so I don't have to drive in but it's wishful thinking

Clouding over now so guess I shall go put tools away and park the rider, too wet to try and do the ditches, don't feel too badly about that seeing I'm tired out.

Maybe a quick nap then wi

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

"M" my mom was extremely allergic to quinine also. Had to be careful to not get anything with tonic in it. My mom had so many allergies, cannot believe so far I have none...knock wood.

At any rate sure hoping this is over for you soon. I had stress hives once Just shows how careful and sure no fun, can just imagine how miserable you are feeling. Just shows how careful we have to be with new meds.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

One lawn done and I have had it, Lorna will do the rest on the rider, hand pushing the dogs compound takes me about half an hour, the rider work is about 2.5 to 3 hours ... plus, she trims as she goes!!
My hands are NOT happy with me as they are swollen from the reaction, AND, opened the fridge, and there on top shelf was the half bottle left of the TONIC WATER I drank on maybe Friday .. could smack myself for that one ..
But, hey, I'm not incarcerated in the hospital ..

Best get back outside ...

Hope you don't have to travel anywhere Betty

~M~

Lyndonville, NY

-M- I had that steven Johnson syndrome.. Don't know if you all remember, my nerves were shot and they put me on a medication. That was a symptom but "don't worry, never happens". Two days later...massive red rash on my feet and hands and traveling. Had to to go dermatologist....he gave me topical steroid creams.....and medications by mouth. Steroids like you have and lots of water. I was on lamictal at the time and is what caused it.

please be careful.

M, I would think that the heat from being outside would aggravate it even more. I'm happy to hear you have a friend who will finish for the yard for you.

We got to the apartment and the landlord was cleaning it... my procrastinating son may have just lost a deposit. Such a nice lady. I asked if there was anything I could do to help and she said just make sure he gets the other 2 cars gone TODAY.

I went outside and asked him if they ran. If not, who will help him tow them TODAY and where does he want them taken. He got on the phone right there and then. I got inside and she said "thank you... I'm not a very good landlord, I'm not assertive enough." I laughed, told her I just call on my inner _ITCH. I gave her my phone number and name in case it's not handled before dark tonight.

I feel bad he did not get this handled before now. He really NEEDS the good rental reference.

The rest of the day is MINE!! (Unfortunately my son just brought girlfriend and 2 kids to the house... I was looking forward to the house ALONE! I'm awful, aren't I?)

cleaned out my greenhouse. dumped it all in the barn LOL
M good to hear you got it all figured out but yikes 2-3 more weeks of itching. yuk
well off and running to wally

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Wish I had a barn!!! LOL..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Pat,feel badly for you if he doesn't get deposit back but feel for landlady who has waited long and decided to clean it herself. Here is hoping that the vehicles are out of there by end of day.
Not terrible of you wanting to have time for you, wish you had said or could have said 'no'. Grin

Was talking to Caleb earlier, I thought he was 16 today but not, he turned 15. Said he spent time with Jeff for a bit last night..today he is heading to the city to meet with friends, then birthday dinner tonight with family, tomorrow dad is taking him golfing. He said he had the best time ever this summer. Always nice to hear a 'I love you grandma'!

Then a call to mom, she's had no company today, drats, she told me not to come but I feel guilty and likely will even if it's only for 1/2 hour.

She has a few things she needs so asked if I'd take her shopping tomorrow? Will pick her up just before noon, will take her out to eat, nice restaurant called mom's then shopping and home, there goes tomorrow.

Took a hot bath, now it's a struggle to get dressed up and go into town

But I must

clean up tomorrow

I heck, I feel much worse for the landlord lady! Adam should have been more responsible, I am much more concerned about a good reference then any money he might have lost!! I feel he abused the landlady's good nature by not getting this all handled before now.

If the cars are not gone I do not think landlady will hesitate to call me. I'll use my mommy leverage to get it done. My DH will not help Adam with the Park Avenue until Adam takes care of the OTHER vehicles that need moving!

Other son Kevin lives with us so unless I have a REALLY good reason for not letting him have company here, I would not say no.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well do hope he gets his commitment done!

Went into Midland, hose of you who visited at the sistah's gathering will know where we ate at the lakefront, vendors were all along the ale, hard to find a parking spot so I just waved as I passed by. Mom was watching baseball so I sat and got into the game..our Blue Jays won in overtime,..that being said there was a play in question so who knows in the end if they did win.

Now home, was hoping I'd go downstairs and quilt for a bit but nope, Im just too tired.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

ladies - cannot possibly keep up with your "busyness"........ so will just say that I love you and think of you often, even when I'm not on DG.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Aw Susan, so good to see you fly by! i don't get much done I'm afraid. These are first finished things in a LONG time... I have so much to get done, it will be years before I get the blocks into tops and who knows how many decades before they become quilts! I hope to find a quilting machine to rent by the hour when I have some tops done.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Evening everyone! "M", so glad you went to urgent care! Please don't go outside! Listen to the Dr. and stay inside. Lawn can wait for a bit.

Sis called a bit ago, and said Dad is having a rough time today with pain management, and breathing, so they gave him a pill for nerve pain. Lets hope this helps. They are keeping a close eye on his blood level, and no added blood today! They check it every morning, and if it is holding tomorrow, he may be released back to the nursing home tomorrow or Monday.

Sue, how was your camping trip?

mulege, Mexico

It's been a long day. Toony got most of the van unloaded - I helped mostly by pointing to where things should go. Maria came over and we had a good long visit. Both Tony and Maria left with packages from the US plus fruits and vegetables (raspberries for both, a real wow here.

Like pat, I was glad to have the afternoon to myself. Cooked liver to share with the furbabies for dinner. They were very happy.

The schotia tree which I grew from seed and is my pride and joy is dyin. Some kind of worm which already killed the mango and cedar which were next to it. I brought some organic poison from Ca. but it doesn't look good. We have several smaller ones that are doing OK but the sick on is about forty feet tall and really gorgeous when in bloom. Also a bird magnet. Oh, well, we got two papayas off a tree I planted from seed.

Very hot and humid today. If I go slow I can probably finish unloading the van tomorrow. Tony can vacuum it Monday and then we can start to repack it.

Three trips with the van and no problems so far. Makes a huge difference in the stress level while traveling. Also, I think because it has Mexican plates and I look kind of Mexican, I've not been stopped at the border when crossing back to Mexico with my van overloaded. I never have a lot in value but it's a PITA to have to stop.

Maria is very good helping me to make plans and look at options and contingencies. Between her and Tony I am well taken care of.

I'm trying to play poker but am dozing at the puter.

hugs, katie

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I'm glad you are safe and sound at home enjoying your furbabies. Rest and be good to yourself.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Morning all ...
Looks to be a dull day here, not sure the lawns will get cut, but, that's the way it goes.

LindaK .. Lorna is on a very high dose of a drug called GABAPENTIN .. it's the drug of choice following an amputation .. works well for her, hope it works for your Dad as well.

Been up for awhile .. meowing cat (give me cream), and, ITCHING body .. BUT .. the red is fading, a bit ..
Have missed 2 doses of Celebrex .. being on prednisone is a help, but, that'll be done in 4 days, I start tapering off today. Not a good drug to be on in the whole scheme of things, but sure a good one for arthritic pain !!

Katie, nice to hear your home and clearing out the van with Tony and Maria's help .. gawd, I hate getting stopped and checked at a border .. doesn't happen often here between Canada and the US, but, when it does, the inspection crew leaves you the mess to clean up !!

Time for some itchy cream

TOODLES

Morning all!

M I so hear you about the celebrex. The neurosurgeon took me off of it before my 2 surgeries and until long after my radiation was over. I was one hurting woman. It was so bad Warren actually asked the Neuro WHEN I could start back on the celebrex. lol Hope the itchies start to calm down.

Sun is trying to shine so hoping for a lovely day. Have to wear my wellies when I go outside - the earth is very soft We squish with every step.

Been up since 4am am almost ready for a nap.

Katie delighted for you that you are home and with your pack. So happy Tony and Maria are taking care of you. Rest!

Need to cut the grass but think I will wait and hope the sun helps dry up the ground.

Betty I know this is going to land on deaf ears but wait for some help cleaning up the mess from the storm. I know I am a fine one to talk.

Oh M I forgot to tell you what I found out about OAS. If you are already receiving CPP you have to do absolutely nothing - it is all done automatically. I am really looking forward to the lowering of the Rx dispensing fee. I pay $12.49 per Rx - it will drop to $4 once I am 65.

Pups have been walked, cats have been fed, think I will lay down.

Barb I love the pattern and especially the colour. Looking forward to seeing it completed.

Prayers for your dad LK.

Make sure you all do something nice for yourself today.
Dianne

OMG!! I'm sitting here laughing out loud! I can just hear her saying that!!

Hope everyone has a good day!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Isn't that wonderful?? She looks like a sweetie with LOTS of spirit!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Please keep the prayers coming for Dad. I just talked to Kathy, and she said he is having a hard time breathing. His heart rate has dropped really low, and he has a lot of fluid built up on his heart, so they have increased the lasix, and put him on a full time breathing mask, I think she said is is a cpap? He still can't urinate by himself, so they keep putting a catheter in every few hours, and that is affecting his UTI infection, so they are calling in specialist to see if he is strong enough to have a catheter put in surgically.

Continuing to send positive thoughts and prayers for your dad LK.
