Debbie, such a nice looking young fella, glad he's home with you and enjoying the 'bonding time'

Katie ..what you are going through re finding out stuff is just awful, wish all the best, and, then some ..

Betty, sure hope you don't get majorly ikky weather .. best checl the telly ..

Lorna got a cortisone shot in her right knee, says it feels wonderful .. sure hope it stays that way !!
She then almost literally DRAGGED me to the ER .. I saw a doc, who called 2 other docs who just could not believe the extent of the rashing .. I am COVERED, and ITCH, on my gawd!!
I thought he was going to take a pic, wouldn't have let him!
Anyway, am on prednisone, high dose for 4 days, then tapering for 2 weeks, an antihistamine, AND, some fine ointment with oh so soothing MENTHOL in it .. I feel about 5% better, and, am hoping that by tomorrow something will have kicked in ..
The urge to scratch is INTENSE !!

Sooooooooooooooooooo .. I think I'll get the dogs ready, and some salmon filling made for Lorna's sammies in the morning (YES she is going to work :-( )

Stay sweet all

M itch ... Mitch ^_^

"M" ....sorry doll...but I told you soooo!!! So glad you went...even if kicking and screaming.

Betty he sold his guitars to help with his bills out there. Yes, is a mature thing...but also so hurtfull as we struggled so hard at the time to get them for him. To see him with guitar in his hands...just made my eyes tear up.

Betty, be careful with those storms please?

"M" itch, I am so glad you went to the ER. Will the give you meds to replace the one your allergic too? Hope your feeling better in the morning!

Love those pictures Debbie, looks like he is enjoying those guitars!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Ya, not good when they start calling in their colleagues to take a look! LOL

Be safe all.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Please give Lorna a big thanks from us "M". I can't help but think of "Physician heal thyself" and I think it relates to nurses as well!!!!! Hopefully you will be a lot more comfortable now. Also hope Lorna doesn't overdo it with her knee.

Can't wait for your post this morning Betty to let us know you are okay. Our weatherman here mentioned how wild the weather was up in your area and that doesn't happen very often.

Got a few more blocks together yesterday and got fabrics pulled for the last two sets. I'll be busy over the next few days. Also haircut today and knitting tomorrow. I ordered a pattern and yarn online to make myself a sweater. Will keep me busy in the evenings.

Old Farmer's Almanac just came out and said the NH will have a very cold winter but not too much snow. The ski areas will not be happy but they all make snow now so I guess it doesn't matter. Looks like I will be housebound if it gets too cold. Best I stock up now with projects!!!

Off I go for something to eat - Norm is already at work.......

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Morning .. notice I 'left out' the GOOD ..
I was positive the initial dose of prednisone would kick start my faulty immine system and start taking away the itch .. well .. it did til about 3am .. then I went and got Lorna and had her put some of that 'magic ointment on', but, it seemed to take forever to work .. woke this morning, went into the bathroom .. OMG!!!! Where the rash WASN't yesterday, it is today !! Down the insides of my forearms, and, my hands are kinda swollen as well.
Next dose of prednisone is this aft, but, I have taken benadryl this morning .. ...

Betty, hope you weathered the storm, Sailor would have freaked !!

Debbie what great pics, and, such a touching story as well .. You have blue on in your pic, looks nice on you ..

Running into town to do some stuff .. get MORE benadryl .. not buying the 'store brand' either !!

Barb, what colour is the sweater, I'm betting 'blue'

Pat, when the 2 other docs lifted my gown, and then looked at me in horror, I thought, OH OH'
Never good when you get 'THAT' look !
And Barb, I am the QUEEN incarnate of 'healing myself' .. drives DH nuts !!

Best get some cream on my back ..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all

Barb, is the sweater you are making a cardigan? Much if what is predicted in yur area for this winter we will have same.looking forward to seeng your blocks done and into a quilt..who will this one be for..nice that you continue your visits to the knitting group, always more fun when you have someone to chat with..every time I hear sweater I think of the sleeves, bns, neckbands I have sitting waiting to be a quilted sweater..on of these days....

Drats "M" that is just not good news..I was so hoping this morning you were gong to say the rash had all but disappeared.

Branches to pick up but that is about it for my neck of the woods..should turn on breakfast television to hear if other communities were as lucky

Lordy the decks are starting to grow moss, well almost because they are just not drying out..last night looked at forecast and rain every day so again they will not dry out.

Providing weather co operates Darlene and I will go to fabricland and take advantage of the sales..she had a patio set that she wants to cover the cushions then we will do lunch.

She is talking about buying a new. Double wide trailer in Florida when she gets there..not sure I will be driving with her or flying with her come mid October.

Missy wants to be petted and I need a coffee

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Coffee is ready but oh how I wish I had a butter tart!

M, I certainly hope you get some much needed relief soon. That, I am sure, is horrible to live with...sounds like me when I get near poison ivy. I really hate using Roundup but that is one plant I will drag it out to use on. Ouchy on the cortisone shot in the knee. Oh yes it does feel better soon but the ordeal of having them hurts!!!! I had one in each knee the end of July and yes, it got me walking normally again.

Betty, you yard sounds like mine lately. I have several dead trees that are dropping huge branches and no sooner do I get them picked up it rains and down comes more. Thinking I will have a long awaited chat with the HOA and then have a tree service come in to remove them.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh "M" I'm just writhing for your sake. Itching is pure torture. I break out in it on occasion on my hands. Itches like crazy then tiny blisters form in a few days and eventually dry up. That seems to be the end of it then, lasts a few days. I went to dermatologist, he said was called dis-hydrosis. "treatment" consisted of having his nurse run mist over my hands from a cylinder that had liquid nitrogen in it. I asked what that did and he said "Oh it's soothing". Later I saw that he had billed my insurance for "removing two lesions" I called his office and asked about it and was told that was how the ins. co. wanted it billed. Um Hum....this from a skin dr. with a deep deep tan in Feb. Now when it flares up I just use some cream and get through it.

We came downstate yesterday, company hubby worked for many many years, was once largest of their kind in the world, now basically doesn't exist. Have and annual reunion luncheon of old geezers so they can talk about who passed in the past year. I rode with him this year as he has been having eye disturbances which leave him with blank areas in his vision. Besides I could then visit with my aunt. Heading home in a while

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!

"M" so sorry to hear your rash is getting worse. And I hate to say this, but I hope that Lorna drags you back to the ER or urgent care if it does not get better.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I am concerned about the rash that it is getting worse. At the VERY least, call the MD and let them it's worse. They can then let you know if you need to come in. They may need to change treatment. Please do NOT wait, CALL or go in now.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

((((M))))

Victoria Harbour, ON

Karen, you home yet?

Maybe I wil make some butter tarts when I'm in ft Myers in October and ship you a batch. Lol
Marion, have picked so many branches this year off the grond that it surprises me there are any left.

Raining, thundering in the distance and I'm getting ready to go see mom

Bit the bullet and called her..she needs laundry done so ill pickit up and have supper with her.

She booked herself in for September as well...thought she would be crabby but not, said aunt Muriel has been a few times..said next week she will go spend a few days with aunt Muriel...big sigh, so hope things change and ta an apartment becomes available and without thinking takes it...I'd be so relieved!

Talked to Greg a bit ago, he told me he hasn't forgotten what I need done but they are overwhelmed at work with work, never gets home till 8 or 9

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Went to town and bought more Benadryl caps, did some shopping, stopped by the cemetery and Lorna about flipped ..
I HATE to say this, but, every finger on both hands is now nothing but a rash !! and, I can't close my hands easily.
I just took my second MEGA dose of prednisone, and, am praying it will be the kick starter.
My family doc is on holiday til Sept 2, and, my rheumatologist who prescribed the drug is away til Aug. 28
I am absolutely and totally bewilldered by this .. I am NOT a person who has EVER had an allergic reaction .. wracking my brain to try and come up with a culprit .. and, I always go back to the Plaquinal as that's the ,newest' thing in my wee world .. I do have a glass of wine each evening, am now wondering if there was SULPHA in it.
I took some 'body selfies', sorry, not sharing them LoL, in actual fact I took them in case something REALLY bad happened to me ..
As me dear Irish Mither would say .."if it isn't your as*, it's your elbow' !!!

Betty, how's the storm going, I hear we'll get some thunder boomers tonight .. my brother who lives on Lake Superior is in need for his well .. we have lotsa water in ours .. used to water 100 head of cattle from it .. no cattle now, just wee Westies who like to eat grass !!
ENjoy your supper with your Mom ..

You guys are sweet to worry, but I am watching, and waiting for some kind of effect from the prednisone .. even if it's not helping my rash, I feel GREAT !! Took all my aches and pains away that's for sure.

Should tidy the ranch up a bit, looks like a mini hurricane whizzed through here .. GAWD i do so detest FLYERS !!! DH is in love with them, so they're perched hither thither and yon .. however, when the big pussy cat is away, the rahy mouse can play LoL

Dad he is on his 4th unit of blood so far, getting antibiotics pumped in him. They did a cat scan to try to figure out where and why he is losing blood, and my Sis was told there is no internal bleeding.
My Sis just said because of his frail condition, they can't do any more test like a colonoscopy, due to risk of the procedure causing nicks or ruptures. So they are going to let him be, and keep an eye on him! He also can't urinate by himself, so they placed a catheter to help with that. All we can do is ask for HIM to keep him comfortable.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Prayers for your dad Lindakay, Lordy he was doing so well?? For him to have that much blood one would think it would be easy to find the problem..like you and hoping our Lord keeps him comfortable. You must be terribly worried..prayers for your dad and hugs for you.

"M" how is the battle tonight, any relief?

Katie, thinking of you as well, any updates?

Was in the see mom, little tense, you know when two people talk and almost avoid eye contact?
Brought her laundry here to do, will get it done in the morning then I will bring it to her tomorrow.

Gee whiz, ate something that is not agreeing with me

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sending more prayers for your Dad LK. That is so frustrating for you. I can't imagine they were not monitoring him during the operation. Something doesn't ring true to me......

And frustrating for you as well "M". Sure hope you get some relief soon. If not better by tomorrow you should really go back.

The color yarn I picked for my sweater is red!!!! Yes, I'm pushing the window a bit here but that is what I'm making. It is called "Concord Top-Down Swing Coat". I don't know if you can Google it or not.

Keeping my fingers crossed that your Mom decides on the apartment soon Betty.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh Barb going to see if I can google it..think thunder has us thinking 'bright'

Debbie, what did you and Shane get up to today?

Off to google

Victoria Harbour, ON

Very nice Bar, love the back

See in a few links they have used alpaca wool, is that what you are kitting with

What a rich color

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

I've been lurking. Hugs to Y'All.

not much going on here. too quiet after having house full.

little bits of sewing, running errands and of course... work.

trying to catch up on blocks for various things, stars Q A L. Aurifil BOM, etc. I am way behind on all of them.

made some skirts for the girls, some pillow cases.
carpenter star quilt for hubs, SHHH he doesn't know. his birthday is in Sept. want to surprise him. It is hard to make something for him, when he is almost always home when ever I am!! and he is always sticking his head in, wanting to know what I am up to??

otherwise same ole same ole...

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

LindaK .. my thoughts and prayers are with your Dad and family ..
Tricky this lowered blood volume .. sometimes the cause is so very difficult to find, and, it may just be his blood chemistry .. dealing with infusions of antibiotics etc.
It's so unsettling for you.

I am 'WHISPERING' this .. the RASH FROM HELL is starting to F A D E ... less itch and hopefully a good nights sleep .. my body is still way covered by it, but, i think the prednisone is working, HOOOORAHHHH !!!!!

Barb, the sweater sounds lovely , and, the colour, SUBLIME ^_^

Betty, sorry to read about the 'tenseness' twixt you and yer Mom .. but, I think it's likely always going to be there until she accepts her limitations .. which could be never...

Thunder,SO hope the carpenter quilt makes it into Sept for your DH .. sounds like a beauty!

I am off to bed .. no hopes .. just going to bed ...

Nighty night all

~M~

PS .. DH has caught NO fish (so far)

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

M, do see the MD AGAIN, whoever you can, if this isn't better tomorrow when you get up.

Barb, your sweater sounds like a nice project.

Thunder, I'm waiting for pictures!

Linda, you & Dad are in my prayers.

Betty, I wish getting along with parrents would be easier when they get older!

Lyndonville, NY

Linda...prayers for your dad....and hugs for you! My goodness that is scary stuff!!! As they said, he was doing soooo well!!!

M....no chance you got into something in the garden is there? And as for having no allergies. I have eaten shrimp my entire life..and just this last year, am now allergic. Same with Cipro antibiotic, took two at pharmacy....drove home...and 15 minutes later covered in hives head to toe. Bodies change.

Wine can have an adverse reaction with MANY medications....very possible.

Betty, I stayed home today. Been ignoring my leg so I can do more with Shane. But today, no way. He was off with friends and his girl......did see him a bit, but not much. Tonight he is having dinner with his three sisters at Jeanna's house. I really hope is enjoyable for them.....and they keep their bond.

Waving to all....Katie, thinking of you....sending prayers. Please let us know when you can!!!

Good night,
Debbie

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We are home have been since about 6. Got call from real estate, they want to show the house tomorrow at ten. We had a quick bite and are cleaning like crazy to get it ready. Going to be great fun getting everyone up and about in the morning. Some of us are lie-a-beds. Just waiting now for everyone else to go to bed so I can mop the kitchen floor, then lay my weary bones down.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Mmmmmm butter tarts, don't be teasing me now.

"M" sure hope this is the end of your misery. I never had an allergic reaction to anything ever before, but been wondering if those spring "colds" might be.

Linda sure hope all gets better for your dad, that's very scary.

Beautiful sweater Barb, or coat, or sweater coat.

Debbie bet it felt good to have a resting day.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Karen, hoping this is the ONE that buys!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good luck on the house showing Karen!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Glad you liked the sweater pattern. I am making it in an acrylic as I am allergic to wool. The color is called Elderberry and is almost like cranberry red. That should brighten me up a bit!!! LOL

good morning
Karen good luck on the house sale. I m not looking forward to when i sell this house Im in.
M how is the itching ? i hope you are better and the allergic reaction is better.

Marion how is your dad today. sending love and prayers
oh its been s torming the last 24 hrs straight. ! rained all day yesterday.
Tom left early this morning. He had things to do today. long drive for him in the rain :(
i worry

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

GROAN!!!
I hve been up and down all night
Taking Benadryl caps and putting on cream .. I had thought I had turned a corner yesterday, I was wrong :-(
This is so frustrating ..
I am NOT an ER kinda person .. and, having been there just 2 days ago, well, it seems fruitless to go back until perhps the 4 large doses of prednisone are in my system..
If I feel it necessary, my docs walk in clinic is open Saturday from 10-1pm
The itch is just mind boggling, have had to take off all my rings, wedding band and all ...
That drug must have caused this reaction in others, and that's what the thrust of my investigations will be today, I am willing to go so far as to call the company.

LindaK .. any news on Dad?

Sue .. good luck with school and driving gig .. DH and I will again be baysitting our 2 grands
16 yr old Brooklyn and 13 yr old Austin, in Jan or Feb when DS and his wife go south for 10 days .. the kids are both NON school busers .. not looking forward to the early, and BUSY, drive into the city each morning .. last winter when we did it, it was about -35F every morning !!

Barb, I think the sweater is just a perfect colour, you'll look FABULOUS dahling ^_^

Hope all is well with Betty, perhaps she got some SLEEP ??

Karen, many good wishes re the sale of the house .. toes crossed, fingers are too swollen !

Have a splendiferous day everyone

Morning everyone. Dad is still getting units of blood. Last I heard it was 4 units. And they still have no clue where he is bleeding from? I will know more later when I talk to my Sis.

Barb, is this your sweater?
http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/knitting/clothing/concord-top-down-swing-coat-101/27970#_=_

"M", have you tried taking a bath with baking soda in the water? That might help with the itch for a bit?
This is what WebMD says about your meds, and the rash is a serious allergic reaction. Please keep a close eye on it?

Oh "M" I'm just so sorry for you an itch is just plain torture, your is 1000 times worse. One year family was all here for Easter and every kid and my DIL broke out in chicken pox. I have an old fashioned claw foot tub and it was in constant use with Aveno baths. Might give you a bit of relief.

I have a lot of wishful thinking going on re sale but trying not to hope too much.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Morning everyone. Won't be good until I get some more coffee....yes, I love/need my coffee to get myself up and going.

M, I can only imagine what you are dealing with now. At one point in my life I did have a really bad case of poison ivy that got really bad but nothing to what you are describing. Sure hope you get some relief soon!!

LK, sorry to hear about your dad's situation. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I do hope he is comfortable during all this.

Barb, I love the sound of the color. Go for it lady, we only live once so why not go bold!!!

Katie, prayers coming your way. Hope you get some results very soon as I know this is so annoying to have to chase around for answers.

Debbie, leg up!!!! Why not put both of them up and just relax...think good thoughts or nap.

Waving to those I missed..have a wonderful day.

Morning,

will respond in a bit, right now I'm on a downer, not very happy with myself, much on the line of 'what kind of friend am I' so upset with myself..

a week or so before my trip there was a message from Geraldine, friend of mine for years..actually her hubby died of massive heart attack maybe 1/2 year after mine did..we went to grief sessions together..

know I told her story before, bit of a poor Cinderella turned into princess, but anyway she now live near Plant City Florida..there was a message from her asking me to call, she was in Honey Harbour, about 10 miles from me for a bit..NOT liking gabbing on the phone and busy in my own little world I decided to call her later, even if if meant she was back home in Florida

Did my trip, was another message on the phone..

with all going on with mom and my daily visits, then trying to catch up with sleep etc I did not call

well, this morning while having coffee I looked at the sale papers that were in the local newspaper, always look at obituaries as well..omg if I didn't see Daniel King 43, son of Geralding..drats, she must have been here with her son as he was dying of cancer.

called Honey Harbour n/a
called Florida n/a/

will keep trying

Victoria Harbour, ON

my boys back from camp yesterday
Caleb (blondie) will turn 16 tomorrow

When I was reading up on the Taylor Statten Camp I almost chocked..$8,425 + tax for 2 months

Bet Jeff is glad Braedon was Camp Counsellor this year so only Caleb had to be paid for

Not sure but maybe Caleb is at the age he can be Jr. Counsellor next summer

OH MY! That is one expensive camp!
