Oh my peach cobbler...now I am hungry for some. We can still get some good Georgia peaches but they are starting to slow down now.
Dianne, I am so glad to hear from you. Had me worried when you weren't posting. Kim is doing fine and will be having more tests done the end of the month trying to find out what is causing these bouts of sickness. After freaking out over the large numbers in each class, she is finally weeding them out. Not sense in a student taking Spanish when they haven't passed remedial English.
Best/Worse/What did I learn Today? Chat with friends old/new
Just spoke with mom, she is in mega pain today, 5 hrs driving yesterday did her in I think.
Told her I'd be there about 1:30 or so and get her shopng done
Might pick up Chinese for supper then she can just rest rather than go to the dining room.
Don't see peaches here too often, all of this cooking has me hungry..
Marion, good news for Kim re class size..hong she gets answers from the doc..
Sun finally came out, bit of a breeze so you still need heavier clothing.
Hot to the residence and mom had her jacket on, said she was feeling a tad better and would like to go to Walmart and giant tiger..got everything she needed, treats, sweater, books to read and a few other necessities of life. She sat whie I went into the small fabric shop, wasn't there long as I couldn't match a few colors I needed to finish the 2nd sunset
Asked if she wud like to go out for supper but she said she had done enough, perhaps another day..maybe Sunday, we'll see
Back home,,in my Jammie's, sprayed myself big time with linament, guess I will not go dancing tonight.
Sue did you finally get energetic and go to fitness today?
Must be Saturday cuz everyone seems to be having a 'lay in' :-)
~M~
Not I, overcast and cool so decided to clean something, refrigerator won the draw. Have another load of mom's wash to do then iron..won't take me long and I will be caught up.
Mom just called, woke up and blood all over the sheets, she was coughing a lot during the night, perhaps it's that. Told her to call if she thought it was something she should have checked out in emerge.
Now trying to figure out what I want to do with my day, thought I'd call and see if hairdresser can fit me in for a wash/cut/set so I can feel human again.
Am sure I will find something
Any of you doing something exciting?
Good morning "M" and everyone!!!! I'm up doing the old breathing machine. That's usually when I read through everything and see what I missed from yesterday!
Thrilled to see you post Dianne. Now if only Duke would learn about coming for the treats. LOL
Not much going on here. I got the directions for the last on the Delightful Stars quilt blocks so now I can see about getting it finished. It has 25+ star block lessons which were stretched out since January. It has been quite a challenge.
Tomorrow is our anniversary - 29 years. Seems like just yesterday we were getting married at the castle and my bagpiper walked around the corner to us. Wonderful memory.
Hope today is a great one for everybody~~~~
Woopsie ... fired the above right off .. forgot to even say good morning ..
Betty .. good to hear your Mom is doing so well .. I found (and still do) that sitting in the car/truck for more than lets say 45 minutes really is quite uncomfortable re my R hip .. I swear I look like a 90 yr old woman when I go to get out .. and , dag nabbit, MOST of the cars out there have nothing to grab onto to give you some momentum .. anyway .. I am getting better at it.
NOW, DH is in my BAD books .. he spent ALL day yesterday in the city flitting about with his cronie groups, but, did he go back to emerg or a walk in? NO NO NO.
Got up to the loo this morning at 6am, noticed the dogs off the bed, and NO Gordon .. went into the living room, there he was in the lazyboy stretched out asleep with the dogs up on it with him ..
He was afrais to lay flat as his throat is so sore the saliva was pooling (sorry for being graphic)
So .. he has promised me he WILL be at our docs Walk In Clinic at 10am .. whoever the dingbat was that he saw in emerg 2 days ago, and told him to take tylenol, well, needs a good swift kick in the butt !!
We got RAIN overnight ^_^
Everything has perked up ...
Muggy out though ..
Supposed to go for gas today, Lorna's birthday tomorrow .. Gord and I are buying her an attachment for her weed wacker, it's a rototiller .. she has a professional weed wacker .. I can hardly lift the darned thing!
DH is picking up her cake today .. Chinese Food tonight, and BBQ steak dinner tomorrow ..
Here's hoping we all stay relatively healthy LoL
Best get a move on .. have a Scrabble game to play ^_^
I do think I am addicted to Scrabble !!
TOODLES
~M~
Hope Dianne and Katie and Debbie and Kim and Payton and everyone not feeling to well feel better soon ..
Putting my 'Magic Mirror' away now :-)
Ohhh Barb, best wishes to you both a day early..anything planned?
Just can't wait to see your finished top, quite a learning experience..did you use same color hues or did you use up scraps?
Know you can't lift your leg much "M" but Gord needs a swift kick in the butt..glad he is doing the walk in clinic
Not the nicest of day here, jotting things I need as I think of them and later will shop and pick items up then go see mom. She just called me back, they came in and changed her bed, she is going to rest, if not feeling the best a trip to emerge will be in order. Should call and tell them I will dine with her.
Hairdresser isn't in today so no haircut unless I go to a walk in, hmmm
Just doing cut outs for the sunset quilt, good past time, rather restful
Body paining, dampness I'm sure so off to put the furnace higher.
Morning all, I can't even imagine turning on heat! We have been so blessed to be comfortable. We had "ductless" heat pumps installed. One in our bedroom, one in living room and one in "great room". Now to get it paid off... expensive little buggers! We've had lots of over 100 degrees weather.
Congrats Barb! My Sweetie & I have been married just 8 years and some days it feels like we have always been married and other times I can't believe that much time has passed!
Marilynne, I can imagine you going looking for your husband and wanting to strangle him for not going back to the MD after being so sick!
Early congratulations Barb..celebrate.
Best to have it Pat than to not..many are now putting heating systems in the floors, suppose to be more efficient..if you have it and don't need it all the better.
Know what you and Barb mean, how quickly the years go by..I thought being married 25 was a big thing, week later he was gone, won't be but a few years and he will be dead as long as we were married..time sure flies.
Sharon just called, when mom was getting her check up they sathe they could see a shadow on her lungs, likely due to having bad cold but now she is saying its likely cancer, on a downer..Sharon explained that they read the X-rays and that if they didn't caution her then it's nothing to worry about..she then went on to say Jimmy had cancer, doctor didn't even bother to tell them til it was too late.
Making an effort to go have supper with her but if she is on a downer not so sure I want to.
Raining lightly, drats hard to get yard work done..has almost rained everyday this week.
I don't understand, it's the same Xray and now they are changing their minds? because??? Maybe need to do more exploring & tests to be sure so they can target and choose appropriate treatment.
Could also be pneumonia, will be a relief to find out for sure.
Stay tuned :-(
Doc saw Gord about 1020 and he is now on his way to see a throat specialist as the doc he saw feels he may have an 'ABCESS' .. fer the luva Mike !!!
Just waiting to hear from him.
DH and I are over the 42 yr mark for marriage .. and, yes Betty, it has flown by.
DGD turning 16 floored me .. and now getting ready to get her license .. AKKKKkkkkkkkkkkkkkk ..
Congrats to you Barb and Norm :-)
Pat, have you tried the heating system yet?
Have friends in AZ who have something called a 'SWAMP cooler', quite the neato piece of equipment , used as an alternative to an air conditioner .. kinda noisy !!
Gord just called .. has an abcess .. PLUS, I didn't know he has never had his tonsils out .. guess who may be having them out within the next 2 months?
Feel bad for him .. and, I worry .. as a firefighter hes breathed in a lot of shall we say,'bad smoke'!
Betty .. good luck with the Mom unit ..
I best get moving here in case things explode ..
Toodles
~M~
Dang tonsils...a snap for a 5 year old, pretty bad for an adult. Both my girls had them out at 18 were pretty sore for quite a while.
Hubby & I marked 54 years last April. I keep telling him I think the warranty is up so watch it.
Swamp coolers are an old fashioned air conditioning system and we would have needed LOTS of them in a house this size. We have used the heat back when it was installed, I was more worried about the air conditioning function. Getting a house cool enough and consistent can be a problem.
Poor Gordon, at least there is an answer and possible cure!
Congratulations Barb and Norm. Wooo hooo for you!!! It was hard for me to believe Warren and I had been together 42 years, it seemed like just last month we met.
We have infloor heat in our finished downstairs. Love, love it!! Ours is oil fueled.
Diesel was quite the hit with the new UPS driver yesterday. Jean it is your fault he was here toough!!! Just kidding but I now possess all but 1of Jonny Lang's CDs and 1 DVD of his first time at Montreaux Blues Festival. I was able to get a copy of his very first CD cut when he was just 14/15. The UPS driver had me take a photo of him with Diesel using his phone. Diesel won't take treats from anyone but me and the UPS driver was quite upset when Diesel turned up his nose at the treat he offered.. He kept saying 'dogs love me'.. Driver was quite relieved to know that the pups would never be outside without me so he didn't need to worry about them jumping on him.
Poor Gord M! Bet you are going to have trouble not saying I told you so yesterday. What is it with males when they get together with their cronies? Warren once hosted a poker night with 102* fever and only to be hospitalized the next day with kidney failure. He told his nephrologist at his appointment the day of the game he couldn't wuss out . Well he ended up almost wussing out of his life.
No sunshine here just off and on rain but it is a tad warmer. Still need a sweater though.
Those of you that know aren't going to believe this ...BUT... I slept from about 1 am until 10 am. Boy oh boy the day sure looks better when you have a good sleep. My GP upped my dosage of the sleeping med and it made all the difference in the world. I sure wouldn't want to take that amount every night as I felt quite fuzzy when I did get up.
Betty how is Linda doing? I felt so bad for you all when she fell. Are you sure she wasn't dancing on a table like you did last year?
Debbie how goes the battle today?
LK how is your dad doing?
Need to be doorman for the pups so will be back later.
Dianne
Holy heck, strong winds and rain, keeps this up and there will be no leaves left to turn fall colors.
mom just called and told me not to come into town, but will I listen, nope!
Drats "M" poor Gord, did you give him the " I told you so"?
Getting Tonsils out will be a heck of a thing for him to go through
Karen, tht is one heck of a lot of years..
I, Marion and Dianne are envious of you having those years, right girls
Dianne, bet those ups drivers get a fright from time to time.
Halleluliah re your sleep Dianne, been an eternity since you've slept so well.
I've been watching dreamer, story about a young miss and her horse, almost embarrassed to say I'm still in my Jammie's and enjoying it.
So true Betty. I was lucky enough to make 44 but then the ugly "C" words reared up it's ugly head. Karen this year would have been our 54th also.
And my 48th
Dianne, so glad to hear you got a good nights sleep! Bet you feel so much better.
Dianne, sorry to hear about your Mom. Did they figure out what her bleeding was from?
"M",sorry to her about Gourd throat. Sure hope there is an easy fix for him.
Barb, congrats to you and Norm!
Dad is doing really good. My Sis was up visiting him, when his Brother and Sister came in and surprised him. My Dads Brother has had a lot of medical issues as well, he has had 4 open heart surgeries, and they are testing him for Parkinson's, and his Sister lives in St. Louis. They flew up to Michigan, just to see him, and he was so happy.
LindaKay, love the photo..you would never believe he has just undergone such a surgery..Lordy your uncle looks so young
Nice that they were able to make it with all the health issues.
Just got in and bed calling my name..
Dad is 80, Aunt Nancy is 76, and Uncle Bob is 71.
What a wonderful photo LK. Your Dad looks great considering what he has been through. That will be a great memory for him......
Morning all,
Overcast and damp, not the best of weather weekends!
Too bad you could not have been there at same time LndaKay..
Glad I said your uncle looked young, gee whiz only five years older than I and same age as roger would have been..lol
I'm sure his brother and sister visiting was better for your dad than much medicine.
Morning! Same weather here Betty. Tempted to light a fire.
Would have been 45 years for Warren and I at Christmas. Just so blessed we had the 42 years together. Interesting Betty and Marion that the 3 of us lost our wonderful men to cancer. The Palliative Care doc we worked with has asked me again to come work with her team 1 or 2 times a week with the families of her patients. Once I get these dizzies under control I think I will offer to come a couple of times a week.
Nothing planned for today. My body tells me it is going to rain so cutting the lawn is out. It poured for about 3 hours last night so the yard squishes as we walk across it. I'm on mud control as well as being the doorman for the pups.
M how is Gord feeling today?
Loved the photo LK. How many siblings does your dad have? My sweet dad was the eldest of 9 and mam was 1 of 13 living. The 13 living did not include the daughter my grandparents 'sold' to the local green grocer before they left Wales.
Well best go do something. I hear the vacuum calling my name.
Dianne
Won't do you harm Dianne to light the fire just to take the dampness away.
I think it would be wonderful for you to get a day in a week to try it..you certainly would be an asset to any family going through the 'c'
Almost forgot Shirley, she lost Tubby to the same.
Can tell fall is on my doorstep, went to Foodland and bought fixings for a stew.
Been thinking not to go to the Residence for supper tonight then feel guilty..they are having roast beef, could have stew for lunch and leftovers for tomorrow couldn't I
Back to painting wine glasses
That is his family. One Sister, and one Brother.
Playing with glasses,
break time then hopefully another few hours and I can set these away until I purchase the candles for them
not sure why I needed so many sets but guess I thought I did
now why can I never just do one of something
Aw... never question your gift and talent, your need to share. How could you share your abundance if you only had one?
Hmmm maybe that is why..looking at this big pit of stew and wondering why I cooked enough for a household..does that also mean I must invite someone over Marion. Lol
It sure does! On my way....so I wish. It was very hard for me to learn to cook for one after Ross' death. Then when I moved into this house I went through the process all over again learning to cook for 2. Poor Kim! Now there are days I cook for 6...keeps one on their toes.
Everything is packaged for families I find, either that, or you are encouraged to cook for a family. I don't like frozen stew so it's eat what I can for a few days then in the garbage.
Got a call from BIL Robert, he lives not far from the Residence mom is in and has a pair of golf pants he want shortened, told him I'd either drop in this evening after having dinner with mom or tomorrow night.
did I mention he sold the boat I did all cushions for??? yep, didn't like the boat, too rough for his wife in Georgian Bay..best he not buy another and think I'll do an entire revamping of sleeping quarters.
another step to the wine glasses..might get all but the stems done today, who knows
just plugging along, bit of change from sewing.
OUCH, bet your hard work helped sell the boat.
Love those glasses Betty. Have you thought about what our Christmas project will be this year?
Glasses are adorable! Is it soap making time yet? Just used the last of my lavender.
Just back from having dinner with mom
She may not be putting on weight since her arrival but I sure am. Lol
Prayers and fingers crossed everyone, seems the manager of the Coldwater facilty has been trying to reach mom (wouldn't you know mom's phone was off the hook all day). Soooo hoping it is to say they have an apartment that mom can have in same building as Aunt Muriel...would be perfect for her.
Sigh, thought I'd go downstairs and finish the glasses but I'm now n Jammie's and just too tired.
Maybe I can find a good movie.
Nice to have such a day Sue...a day with Jiyce, what could be better?
My balloon burst
Sharon just called me
Mom says tings are moving too quickly for her, she is not ready for apartment, wants to live in her own home. Sharon told her Bryan rented a place and is moving Sept 1st so now she is ready for war..we are all forcing her to do something she doesn't want to do
Grrr
