Enjoyed my vicarious travels with Betty and her crew .. looked to be quite fun ^_^
Karen, happy to hear Payton is now minus his appendix .. hope he does well following ..
Sue, are the rabbits for pets ?
OMG Debbie, when you do something physical, you don't mess around !! Are you using crutches?
Betty what an outrageous price for SPAGHETTI!! We had spags tonight, about $3.00/plate !
Was to have gone to town today, but, looks like it'll be tomorrow .. doesn't really matter so long as DH has FISH for supper Thursday.
Won't be long before I"m horizontal ..
Enjoy your evenings, gonna be 38F here overnight !!!
~M~
Best/Worse/What did I learn Today? Chat with friends old/new
Yes, I have crutches and it is wrapped up. No stairs, no standing, limited weight baring.....all that fun stuff.
BUT is feeling pretty good today...I think is the anti-inflamatory.
38? I wish...
Debbie please don't over do it on your leg.
Debbie, do as instructed please. I can only imagine how that hurt.
Karen, hope things are starting to improve for your family and great to hear about Payton. Done and over with now, what a relief.
Was out most all day yesterday. The girls and I packed bags snack bags for the homeless yesterday then went to the shelter with some other ladies. The girls have been doing this with their mother for several years and have a great system worked out for the assembly line. They actually were getting the bags filled quicker than I could pack them into the boxes for delivery. Afterwards we had lunch and returned home.
Things grandmothers do for their grandchildren!! I am now sporting purple hair.
^_^ purple hair sounds to be OK ..
Hopefully their not Permanent, just the wash out kind ..
Fer sure Deb take it easy .. elevate and ice .. hope you have some good books ..
Heading for town, DH is not feeling all that well, sore throat ..
Best get a shuffle on
~M~
Morning,
Ohhh "M" I had to turn the heat on this morning, talk about chilly, guess it's more the dampness than cold..put the dehumidifier on again, emptying almost twice a day..helps somewhat.
Debbie, I can feel your pain, yikes .. leave it to you..you and Linda are much the same
if something is going to happen to someone it's both of you! Actually she went almost everyday the her chiropractor and he also had her see an inhouse masseur and she says right now she is walking without a limp or pain.. Thinking of going to Buffalo in the next week or two, please, please get well so I can have a Debbie hug.
Marion, what a nice way to spend a day..big smile, hope you take a photo of your new 'do'
Raining today, all my work is outside so guess it will be a sew/sew day.
Roger's nephew and his wife had a baby a few months ago, called Suzanne to say they will drop in this weekend or next so thought I'd best make something..remembered I had blocks that were already cut and ragged put away, doing Happy Dance, think there is enough to make a blanket.
Be sure to pick some meds up for him "M"
in this weather how can we not but have colds.
just remembered, my day will not be ALL sewing
painting glasses..yesterday I basecoated stem and glass with tile and glass medium and let dry
then did a coat this morning of orange, likely will need at least 2 more..in this dampness best leave them cure a bit then will do the green stem and paint the faces/dots
have fabric cut out for one of those sunset quilts..will sew the main part today as it's easy
so that will be my day
Pictures of glasses, please!!
Batteries charging Joyce
Have you used your bag?
How did Bill make out at the doctor's? Did I miss the post that said how he did
Lordy I do need a trip to Buffalo, going through thread like crazy
Maybe I should set aside seeng for panting, so many surfaces sitting just waiting to be panted or finished being painted.
Must be the resting and relaxing on my trip (big grin) that has given me a burst of energy
Been going to bed early but have been up early getting things done
Am sure pain in hip (a@s) is a nerve. Grrr
Betty, have you been back to the Dr. or the chiropractor? You said the chiro has helped Linda!
Yes, going to make appt for Monday, can hardly move right now, more the check of my A**!
Feels lke a nerve
Will be bath, pain meds and early to bed..accomplished much last few days so am sure I can baby myself a bit
Wonder how Katie is dong? And Bev, she is in Branson I think today?
Joyce aren't you going to Nashville?
Hi Everyone, I'm still hanging in. Guess I had a short bug - either flu or food poisoning - on Monday. Talked to my doctor's nurseing assistant on Tuesday and was reassurred, if being told "at your age it might take longer than usual to heal" can be called reassuring. Sigh. I have an appointment to see the doctor tomorrow morning.
Waiting for a couple of packages. My van is getting to be seriously full. I rearranged things this mornign then went to a thrift shop and promptly filled up all the space I had just arranged.
Debbie, please take care of yourself. That sounds so painful.
Miss you all, but will check back in as I am able.
I'm doing OK.
hugs, katie
Glad to hear you are feeling better..your dr appointment is that to confirm no problems re biopsy?
I can just imagine what you bring back to Mexico..is some Santa related? Know you are always on top of that
Smilling, get the same from my doctor..the old 'at your age, you aren't as young as you once were, it's to be xpected at your age ..yada yada yada
Still raining
Hot bath calling my name
Joyce, just gave another coat to the wine glasses, still more coats needed
Missy decided the rag quilt I made for the baby today is hers, at least until it goes for washing
Ended up buying another Christmas panel..never know when one is needed..think I already have 4 or 5 but what to heck was only $4
All the best Katie , hadn[t realized you were living in your van .. just make sure the doors are locked at night ! Best of luck with the doc tomorrow ..
Lovely baby blanket Betty, and glasses and Xmas panel ..
UBER busy day with DH today . .. no results from his throat swab, and, his throat is not any better :-(
Spoke with our pharmacist .. he gave him a spray, told him to take zinc ..
If this cont he will go to Emerg again tomorrow ..
Can hardly wait to 'go bunkies' ..
Nighty night all
~M~
Yes, Betty, going to Nashville for a week in October. Sherry and I and maybe Kathy are dog sitting for Sherry's BIL and SIL.
Bill is in waiting mode. The general surgeon said both surgeries could probably be done on the same day. We were so excited about that. It would mean going off Coumadin only once. One trip to the OR. One trip to the hospital. One anesthesia, etc, etc. but the Urologist said no. He wants some healing on the filter procedure before he removes the kidney stone. So like I said its a waiting game right now. The two surgeons are to talk before any dates are discussed.
What are you putting on the orange glasses?
"M" you got o wonder about going to emerge, so apt to catch something more than a sore throat..would his doctor not just send he pharmacy a script?
Ive been in bed since late afternoon, was in a sound sleep, Sharon called to say she took mom back to the Residence, long day for both. Doctor said she is doing well, prefers for now she use a walker. Few things mom needs so I will go into midland tomorrow afternoon which breaks up her day when I go mid day to pick them up, will see if she would like to go to Walmart with me.
Joyce, sounded like a lot having both proceedures done at same time, glag they are reconsidering.now why cold I not dog sit in such an interesting location, ahhh I know why, dogs would have to spend most of their day on music row...make sure you all visit the Parthenon if you've not already done so
As for the glasses the top of the flass will hold. Glass container candle..stem will be a green tem and bowl of cup will on th TiVo be a pumpkin face
I have too much tme on my hands right. Lol
Like winter out there, wind is just a howling
Meant to ask how you are feeling Debbie and are you behaving?
Is Paul getting your meals?
Betty the show will air in Dec or jan ? don't know excact date yet.
ID channel .
Debbie take it easy on the leg. How is it feeling today ?
M have a good night rest. sleep well . :)
Katie that is the pits to not feel well. Hope tomorrow brings you some relief.
busy day here
i was out in the garden digging up plants. Not the right time of year but .... wish for the best. I didn't want to loose them in the jungle of weeds that was growing. LOL
so i risked it.
Betty, I am feeling better. Mornings are worse being stiff and sleeping on downstairs couch.
DH has been helping with most of the cooking but got really upset I didn't have something ready for him to cook tonight. What was I going to do....go down into the basement? No.....not a chance.
I have some errands in the morning I can't put off...but if I use shopping cart with crutch I should be fine.
Katie, please be careful and don't over do it!!! You have so much healing to do and a long haul home.
Sure has been cool here....was 49 last night and I think is 53 tonight. Our high today was 65.
Sounds like an early fall. boooo!
Sweet dreams all
Debbie
Love the baby blanket and that panel Betty. Cant wait to see the finished glasses and rock pumpkins!
"M", sure hope hubby's throat is better soon!
Debbie, try to get one of the motor carts at the store, so you are not walking too much!
Debbie your health is what matters, can always pick up something ready cooked..you will be some sore lady if you overdo tomorrow, great suggestion trying to use motorized cart if available. You sure are having a time of it.
Been concerned that Dianne hasn't been posting, being unwell and on her own is a worry..have you been speaking with her Debbie?
Deb, haven't heard from you in a bit as well, everything ok
LindaKay, working on glasses today, hoping they turn out ok
AWwwwww so this is where all the chatter is!! I wondered why the other threads were so quiet! LOL
Morning Pat, glad you've dropped in, welcoming groups these ladies are
You already know a few, Barb,Thunder,Lindakay.
Here is hoping all goes well today, see you've been up late dotting those in's and crossing those t's.
Sue, what is ID channel, not sure I get it..will it be a documentary?
How overwhelming it must be for you to relive Jessica's murder...what emotions you must be going through You certainly are one brave woman to do so. Hugs
Playing lazy this a.m.
Been awake for what seems an eternity, still in bed..guess I should get up and at it
Calling for another dreary say so inside I shall be, maybe i can clean a few corners
Everything's going OK here. Nothing new or exciting going on, just work, then home to yard work, grooming dogs, and crash for the night, repeat, repeat, repeat! Taking the dogs out this weekend for lure coursing in Wis. They always enjoy a good run, and I'm looking forward to catching up with some friends I haven't seen in a while.
Deb
Hiya Pat .. nice to meet you ^_^
How's things in WA ?
I'm Marilynne, one of the Canadians in the forum, there's a few of us ..
I see you have a kitter kat .. and, a lovely one at that!
I have a 20yr old pusser named Smokey, and, 3 West Highland Terriers .. Lilly, Piper and Zoey.
Betty .. HALLOWE'EN .. supposed to be near 90 here today .. gag me ..
Hope things work out with your MoM ..
Debbie, PUHLEEZE be careful if you venture out ..
I think perhaps the documentary will be on the discovery channel ?
Joyce, that 'coming off warfarin deal' is a scare .. Lorna will have to come off hers (so we here) prior to having a cortisone injection into her knee .. she'll find out on the 20th when she sees the orthopedic team ..
I hope Bill does well .
Am hoping Dianne does pop in with a quick hello .. I get kinda worried too ..
I think I am going to TREAT myself to a CUP OF COFFEE!! Since I have been on that new arthritis med, coffee has been verboten to my stomach, but, I'm craving it today .. guess I'll just have to deal with the consequences.
Have to smile, todays DAVE ARTICLE is about Blue Jays, and, the ones around our property are just Jay Jaying, best get them some peanuts .. the article states that a bunch of Blue Jays is referred to as a "POSSE" ^_^
Take care everyone

Deb .. have a cousin who is into agility and luring .. she has an Australian sheep dog Shepard mix .. named .. Java
She goes to a course in LaCrosse .. not sure if it's WI or MN ..
Have fun ^_^
~M~
M, I love your avatire and wish I could enlarge it. A nurse with a giant syringe over her shoulder?
I currently work as a case manager for Aging and Long Term Care. I oversee the payment, the compliance to continuing education of the individual providers of personal care. My background is mental health and drug & alcohol treatment, crisis work but case management had more humane hours so I made the change.
I am a "newly wed" of 8 years this week. My Sweetpea is disabled, having had 8 surgeries in the last 5 years, 2 years ago one of those was quadruple heart bypass. He's currently in a wheelchair or with arm crutches as he still recovering from a less than successful hip surgery (actually 2, the 2nd one was because of infection).
I sew and garden, I've rather weed than clean house and I'm grateful my husband does the cooking!
I'm not sure what "luring" is.
Pat, I did a Google image search for nurse with syringe cartoon, and found lots of images, but could not find the one "M" uses.
https://www.google.com/search?q=nurse+with+syringe+cartoon&espv=2&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=Bf_tU7LuBcia8QGoxYH4BQ&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ&biw=960&bih=473&dpr=2#q=nurse+with+syringe+on+shouldercartoon&tbm=isch
Sitting having coffee, think they call it relaxing. Hmmm strange to just sit. Lol. Am sure within minutes I will tire of it and look for something exciting to do. Lol
"M" you must be getting all the good weather this year, after the winter we had I thought for sure we would have a good old fashion summer but not. You sure have a managerie, keep you hopping just feeding them, birds and all.
Happy Anniversary Pat, so glad DH is ok with inside cleaning..have you decided yet if you will sell the rented home, less worry?
Deb, you so remind me of Sharon, so committed to the dogs, shows to promote the breed and of course just loving them..how far is the drive?
Goodness, so many to pick from LindaKay.
Have you been talking to your dad?
Mornin' for the humid south! Welcome Pat, nice to see you on this thread.
I had a case of the "can't helpits" yesterday. I think I didn't realize how active the GDS were until a day without them. Guess I had better adjust as they started back to school today. Time passes so quickly.
I, too, am worried that Dianne hasn't posted in a while. Does anyone talk with her?
Only a little over an hour north of me, so I'll be home in the evening, then back out Sunday morning. It's usually a full day at the field, everyone brings their shade and lawn chairs and sit around watching the dogs run. It's all sighthound breeds (Afghans, Greyhounds, Borzoi, Whippets, etc) each breed runs separately with the dogs in groups of three. The lure is just plastic bags tied to a string that's on a continuous loop, but when the lure operator starts the motor, and those plastic bags move, the dogs act like it's the most exciting thing in the world!
Very interesting Deb..hope weather cooperates for you. Look at that, in mid air wow
Marion, nice that you got to spend time with the girls , how right you are, before you know it they will be married with little ones of their ow sooo today enjoy! Our kids don't go back for 3 weeks..hard to believe summer is almost over..I do enjoy so many things come fall..bet you missm at tmes being involved in the planning of the craft /event festivities?? Maybe more the people than the work
I've been checking all events in area communities so I can attend the larger ones..great day out.
good morning
lazy morning here. woke up about 15 min ago
was up to late with austin helping him figue out his xbox live thingy. we got it figured out.
but boy my sleeping pattern is all crazy .
welcome Pat. I m Sue
Im the brat of the group *wink*. No agility training for me or Lucy my chocolate Lab LOL . I would trip over my boobs and Lucy would be hiding , drooling from fear LOL yep thats us.:)
great pics momcat, I didn't know afgans did those courses ?
welp i have to think up a good excuse why i shant go to the gym today LOL
better get cracking
Here I is, here I is...... Its been a rather challenging couple of weeks and I was a little overwhelmed. Things are working out so I can smile again.
Pups have been a blessing - gives me a reason to get up in the morning. Bugs even with this Fall weather still prove to be a challenge when we walk. Diesel has figured out if he goes outside and comes to the door when he is called he gets a liver snap. Now he asks to go out whether he needs to go or not. lol I started the treat as Duke my Tick Magnet was not coming when he was called. Duke still has to be on a leash outside or he would end up iin Nova Scotia..I keep forgetting how far Duke has come since his rescue and it doesn't help that Diesel is so good and obedient.
I've sure been enjoying all of your photos. My gardens are a complete write off now so I sure enjoy seeing all of yours. My heart breaks every time I look out at them. Am really going to have to figure out what I can do next year.. Clearly the 7 ft fence around where I used to plant my veggies is of no value. The deer sail over it with ease.
Debbie I hope all those cats are taking good care of you.. How long on the crutches?
Betty it seems like your mam is starting to aclimatize to her new residence.. How kind of you to bring her treats. My MIL never really settled in to her NH. She refused to talk with the others, participate in the activities offered. Although she did tell us that the new gentleman who sat at her meal table was a government spy and only she knew he was.
Sorry to heat about Lorna's leg M. Has the latest readjustment helped? You are right she sure is a trooper.
Welcome Pat. In my other life I was a Behavioural Consultant with the Toronto B of E. So
sorry to read your DH has had so many surgeries. .
How is Kim feeling now Marion? When I taught I had so make bouts with bronchitis and flu. Heck I even contacted Red Measles 1 year .
Back later.
Dianne
Just gave a sigh of relief Dianne..thank goodness bad times are behind you..laughing atthe treats, Sailor would do the same, in out in out and lookng at me with begging eyes, I just had to give her treats
Sad about the gardens, much the same here..only good weeks were the weeks I was in the city for mom and my vacation..big sigh, always next year.
As for mom Dianne, big improvement, she keeps saying she has not gained weight but she sure has gained strength..not as fragile..her surgeon doesn't need to see her for 4 months, she went to her doctor, both receptionist and doctor couldn't believe how well she looked..then Sharon took her to her hairdresser to have her hair cut, same story, then to bank and again ALL couldn't get over the improvement. Sharon actually said she enjoyed her day with her yesterday..they who can't be in same room together for more than a few minutes..I think it's the schedule re meals, rest and people around. Wouldn't tell her, but not having all those strong drugs around her has to have a lot about her disposition.
Can't seem to get at anything this mornimg except vacuum and cut some 10" blocks to do another Christmas quilt at some point so think I will run in this afternoon and see if she wants to go out with me for a bit
Sitting here watching the oven .. DH brought PEACHES home yesterday .. so .. peach cobbler time as strawberry and blueberries are done ..
Pat, I retired from nursing after way too many years .. have worked in almost every area, but, my last 15 years were spent in LTC and Hospice .. I still do Hospice care in the community .. AND .. nursing all those years gave me a brand new HIP one year ago .. the support from the folks on this forum was a saviour for the recovery period, but, I'm doing fine now ..
One of my very best childhood friends, Lorna, lives with DH and myself .. Lorna is a landscape architect .. in 2009 she developed a clot in her left ankle, and, her left leg was amputated.
BUT .. after 4 years of rehab and prosthetic fittings, she is back to work at a local cemetery as the head gardener .. the FIRST above knee amp that our one and only prosthetist has seen go back to work ..
DIANNE .. woo hoo .. good to see you posting, and, as far as flying deer and bugs go, I HEAR ya gurl !!
Cobbler is almost done .. one thing on my 'to do ' list today is to TRY and clean the window on my stove, jeeze looeeze .. can hardly see into the oven .. dang gas range, so dislike it :-(
Stay sweet everyone!!
~M~
