Had a wonderful day the beach, yesterday with the girls. Dave taught Malena how to boogie board. She had a blast.
Two bodies in left top are Malena and Momma. Beach was beautiful. Perfect weather. Not too hot. Water was not too cold.

Oh my Thunder, what beautiful pics, and such little sweetie, tuckered her right out ^_^

Betty, we have Florida weather, still !! MAY get a reprieve tomorrow, and here I am with the oven on baking!
Going to do a prime rib in the electric roaster outside .. never done that before, but, what the heck, saves on the ac running all the time because the oven is on.

Lorna FINALLY listened to her body and went back to bed to give her back a rest .. have been trying the A535 (antiphlogistine) patches on her lower back .. really not too effective ..

BinL called us,guess what he was doing Betty? Power washing his deck, and, the chlorine bleach is for mold.. he gets that in the shaded damper area of their deck ..

Putting together a Ceasar salad, then heading outside to see what's up out there ..
SUPER MOON tonight .. Deb will be busy ^_^

Hi to any lurkers, you're thought of ..

Ciao

Smilling from ear to ear
What fun
What beach did you go to

Kids will hate to leave you

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Thunder, that is some happy smiling little ones....and so cute. Looks like Gramma is kinda happy too. Good you got to spend time with Kyle and the girls. I know how much you miss them.

Betty and Barb, I can sympathize having the grandsons so far away...two of mine are living in Australia. I do hope things remain calm and reasonably settled for your Mom.

I do hope Kim is feeling better, Marion. The news about Sue is no nice to hear. I know the time you spent with her helped in her turn around.

Good thoughts for your Dad LK. Sounds like being in much less pain and fewer meds will help him enjoy himself and life much easier.

Hope Lorna recovers soon, M. Good thoughts for a calm, pleasant week for you all.

Jean, so nice to see you posting. Think about you often and it always bring a smile when you post. Hope things are doing well with you and your family.

Kim is better, thanks. Returns to work tomorrow, still watching what she eats very carefully and has scheduled appointments later with her doctor for further testing. These episodes are getting worse and really wearing her down. For now, she is almost back up to speed.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Good to hear Kim is feeling better.

Ohio is good. We need rain, but this is really the first time this year and that's amazing!

Bill's birthday is today and our GS Will had his on the 5th so today was their combined party. Picnic fare at DS and DIL's house. I made him a German Chocolate Cake and some macaroni salad. Both his request.

DS Mark came with DGDs and G/F to say Happy B/D to dad and to share their news. They got engaged today. I love this girl to death. She is so, so sweet.

Waving Hi to all of you!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hi all - back from camping last night - it was an "interesting" 5 days.......
1. water leaking from the RV and we didn't know from where, so used the big blue jugs for water
2. I closed the window at the side, and it shattered into a million pieces (tempered glass). It stayed in the window frame, for the most part, and the next day Bob used duct tape to hold it in, and then plastic sheeting to hold it for when we drove home yesterday
3. Woke up the first morning (Tues) to find we didn't have coffee, so Bob walked an hour to the nearest "trading post" and then an hour back - bought coffee and a dozen eggs. He was exhausted when he got back to the campground
4. on our last night, Saturday, I climbed into bed, and it "gave" a little bit..... Bob propped up the bed at the corner, with a piece of firewood (appropriately sized) to hold it. In the morning, he took apart the bed (it's a couch, that you "flip" open to make a bed and one of the supports had come away from the wall.
Today, the previous owner (Peter) came by to help us determine why the water was leaking from the RV. Turns out to be from the toilet area. We can do without a toilet (the campground has a wonderful "main" toilet/shower room and several "outhouses" so we'd be ok without a toilet in the RV).
Bob's going to take the toilet apart during the week, cuz we're heading out again on Sept 5th. Peter says it should be very inexpensive to fix.

Katie - how's this "Probably", Morelli said, "but I give good......pizza" hahahaha I finally finished the book while camping - couldn't put it down! Now, for book 2!!
Hope this finds you feeling better - please take care.
LK - how's your dad? Prayers for him
Marion - good to hear that Sue's doing better - baby steps...... as for Kim, who ever knows about illnesses lurking......
Thunder - lovely family you have :-)
Betty - sounds like you had a fabulous time - hugs all around :-)
Jean - long time no see!! Good to see you posting
Marilyn - how's Lorna today?

Hey Susan, glad to hear your back home. Oh the enjoyments of camping!

Dad is doing very good. My Sister called on Skype this afternoon, and he sang you are my sunshine to the two Grandsons here.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Happy Birthday to Bill & Will!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh wow - to be singing!! That's awesome, LK!!!!!!!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I agree, It made us all happy to see him in his wheel chair, outside, and singing!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

how much of his leg did they take off? I'm sure you said, but I missed it in the 5 days of chat :-)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

My Sis said there is maybe 6 inches left. They had to make sure there was good tissue as well as blood flow!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

ok
Will they eventually be fitting him for a prosthetic, or will he be using a wheelchair from now on?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

A friend who lost her leg(to lack of circulation from smoking) said her biggest problem was keeping the stump from popping up into the air since the rest of the leg wasn't there to hold it down.

Susan, think you'll ever have an ordinary dull camping trip? I don't think we ever did. Our very first was in a 16 ft camper with 4 kids. Rained all week but we stuck it out. Best was all the way around Lake Superior.

Marion sure hope Dr. can find relief for what ever is bugging Kim. Maybe from a bite of some kind?

My great GS is finally getting his appendix out on Wed. Wish I could be there but sent him a gift to be opened that morning.

Hey there
checking in quick , my battery is low and only have 7 % left
will plug in and get back to you later
filming starts tomorrow... i m nervous
smiles

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Lots happening !!

Susan, ahh yes, the joys of camping, that was nice of Bob to walk all that way for coffee .. hope the 'loo fix' is quick and inexpensive.

Marion .. my good friend who taught in PA for years ... had an allergy to chalk, her hands were a mess, but, she always came down with what she called 'kidflu' within the first week of school .. she would pick up anything the kids had brought into the school .. I sure hope Kim finds out what's up ..

Happy BDay and congrats Joyce (to Bill and Will) any idea when the wedding will be ?

Jean .. AUSTRALIA is pretty darned far away!!! Have a colleagie whose daughter and son in law (an Aussie) just moved back to Thunder Bay with their 2 sons ..
They lived in Oz for 5 years.

LindaK .. do you think your Dad will go the prosthetic route?
Lorna sees her prosthetist today .. some adjustments needed since her fall .. and, her stump is constantly changing, no doubt your Dad's is all wrapped up ..
It'll be a jpurney for you all .. I wish you and your Dad all the best.

Sue ... whatcha filming?

Never sure I'm in the correct thread, so, am going to mosey on .. we have had RAIN YAHOO all night!
Deb, did you get a pic of last nights moon? Clouded over here, but, the CAT was sure nutsy coo coo !!!

Hugs all around

Hi to MAry and Katie and Betty and Dianne ... (Dam mirror)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I don't think they will make him a prosthetic, as he is a stroke victim, and has not been able to walk for the past 2-3 years, due to bad balance on his right side being paralyzed. As far as the stump sticking up, he has physical therapy coming is daily, trying to train it to stay down, but with him paralyzed, and he can't control anything on that side, I don't know how successful it will be. They said they have straps they can hold it down with, they can add to his wheelchair.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Loved reading your post LindaKay, imagine going through such a traumatic experience and be singing only a few days later, what a positive person he is..I didn't think a prosthetic would be something that would make his life easier..

Oh Susan, you must have been saying "why us Lord" still, you did enjoy yourself as I see you will be going again.

Karen you will be worried the operation goes well, hard when you live so far away..you are on top of things though sending an early get well gift.

Sue, when do the kids go back to school, you will need a break or at least a week of sleeping in late lol when is your next visit with Joyce

Happy Belated Birthday Bill and congratulations to Will..when will the wedding be..garden wedding??? (big smile)

Now where is our Judy?

Jean, as always it's so nice to see you post.

Sharon called me last night, wanted update on mom..I sure see her getting stronger..maybe it's the lack of drugs in her system that she looks well/strong. Going for supper tonight, think some believe me to be a resident lol

hand sewing binding on quilt, just might make it to the fabric shop for more black so I can get the Muskoka chair/pine tree project done

sunshine out there, will get more deadheading done..not quite sure how I missed the beauty of my gardens this summer but I did

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

3 hours with Kerry the prosthetist .. padding added to 'snug up' the socket .. tuned up the foot, did some adjustments to improve Lorna's gait ..
Lots of waiting ..
I was SO nauseated ! The new pills I am taking for my arthritis takes me back to my 'morning sickness' days .. just YUK .. don't know whether to run and find a bathroom, or wait for it to pass .. can't stop taking the pills, so, I best get used to the rumbly tummy.

LindaK .. the whole rehab process for someone going into a prosthesis is intense, and, ongoing .. I so hope your Dad doesn't get phantom pain .. but .. when he does, believe him .. sometimes Lorna is in tears with pain in her leg that is gone ..

Have a nice supper Betty .. nice to hear your Mom is getting along so well ^_^

Best get at supper, hope I can start the BBQ !! I am a real KLUTZ in that dept.

"M", you need to talk to your Dr. about the symptoms your having with your new pills.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I agree, ~M~ - you really need to talk to your doctor.........

Update on the RV - I spoke to a service manager, who says that maybe Bob running the air compressor last year (to get the last vestiges of water out of the lines for over-the-winter) may have "popped" one of the lines and it may be as simple as putting it back (by Bob). What a cheap "fix" that would be!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all,

Let's hooe all the fixes are that easy Susan!

"M" this is a different drug than the chemo drug you were taking before right? As with the others do think you should call your doc

How is Lorna tonight?

Shepherds pie was delicious, of course any meal I don't cook is delicious. Lol

Mom had calls, visitors and bingo today, she didn't mind my not staying late..proud of myself, been there very day since she arrived.

Management was setting up tables for their craft day tomorrow, mom said she would attend, has appt for her nails in the afternoon so bust she is.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

One of the side effects of the new med (not a chemo drug) is nausea :-(
I am going to try and just work through it ..
Thanks so much for your concern ..

Lorna is overwhelmed by the gov't bureaucracy right now .. I'm shining up my boxing gloves and going to war ... lordy I detest it when GOOD people trying to get back into life are treated like dirt .. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr .. my Irish is up !!

Glad supper was good Betty, sounds like Mom is enjoying being there .. fingers crossed.

Hope the fix up on the RV is BOB friendly Susan ..

I am off to bed ...

Thanks for the wishes and congrats. Don't know about the wedding date. Kate starts college next week to get her bachelors in Business. Mark starts back at the first of the year for his Masters in Business, so I think they'll be engaged for a while. I did ask the question if any date had been discussed and Mark said we're eloping. All the while he was saying that, Kate was behind him shaking her head no. This is Mark's 3rd marriage (hoping third time is a charm) but Kate's first. I don't think she'll stand for no wedding! The ring is georgeous. 1.2 karats. Sparkles like nothing I've ever seen.

Bill went to the surgeon today and hopefully, both the filter will be inserted and the stone removed in the same surgery. We hope so anyway!!

Oldest son called me this morning to let me know everyone is OK but a bit worse for wear. Youngest son's basement got 40" of water and he's lost everything down there. When it started coming in he piled what he could but it wasn't enough. SIL waded waist deep water to get to son's house, his car still under water. DD couldn't make it to pick up son at RR station but his brother could.

Robin Williams.....What can I say that hasn't been said over and over? I just feel devastated at the loss.
