Morning everyone.
Thanks for the breakfast Jaye.
Rm 292 Sweet Interruptions Hotel
morning sistah's. I,m here but not awake. have to go to PT at 9
Costco and Safeway both sell cleaned and sliced fresh pineapple spears in a clear plastic tub. Perhaps you have one of those near you. If not I would imagine any big up scale super market will have them to. Pretty nice to buy it pre cleaned.
The garden is showing it's age now, Won't be long and the tiller will be used to put it to sleep. I don.t have much left in comparison to what I once had and am thinking about only growing in raised boxes next year. I have about a hundred feet of raised beds so theres no shortage of them. They are a lot eaiser to care for even the weeding and watering is fun lol. I know sounds sick but it is true.
Wow we just had a three alarm fire our 3 yo gd just had a nightmare, her gm has just taken her back to bed to sleep the rest of the night with her. I feel so bad for little kids who have night mares because it is so real for them. At times I will still have one but at least I can tell myself it was not real and go back to sleep.
Jordan so your getting a gs and d good luck. I love my d but think I would shoot myself if she showed uo with my gk in tow, We have had our gk 3 and 5 for three weeks and believe you me I am glad they are going home to mom.At least they are good kids.
l to r pic 1 and 2 James the darling of the house and the youngest of the three Goldens that are our kids now. Pic 3 is a beautiful fish and 4 is a fresh batch of crab cooling on a log.
I'll take the crab, and the dog.
I have my daughter and grandson moving back in. With their dog I must say
You can have my share of the crab Kathy! I'll take the dogs, they are so sweet!
Oh, I'll have one of them sandwiches please? That looks yummy!
yeah, I want a samm to. looks good
It is the season for blt's here lol. yall come and we will have some.
Yum! Have to put more bacon on the shopping list! One BLT will not be enough for this year!! We had them for supper the other night and I wanted 2 sammys, but the bacon was gone and so was the bread!! :o( bummer, for sure!
We put avocado on our BLTs turning them into BALTs....strange household we have. :-)
I would take the crab but will leave the dog for others. I like dogs but living where we do it just isn't a good idea. To many gators in our lake currently.
The GDs returned to school today and I am really going to miss the activity in the house.
Feeling so much better than I was yesterday so hopefully I will get something major done.
MEZ THINKS BLTS ARE ON THE MENU FOR TONITE, CUZ I DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO MAKE, AND AM GOING FISHING ANY WAYS.
Ummm waiting for my first ripe "real" tomato. Getting the little grape tomatoes but Great grand Amelia gets to those first, she now knows to check. Mine are pretty close to being ripe and then I can eat BLTs every day til they are gone.
Love crab just about my fav in the seafood dept., although sea scallops are right up there.
Ahhhh goldens, I so love them even with their fur fluff everywhere. We currently have a black gold, mom is a golden, dad a black lab. She's black like dad with long beautiful fur like mom.
Great grand Payton talks to me every day to tell me how his recovery is going, even had to send me a photo, when the dressing was changed. I could have done without that but it mattered to him. He was telling me when he was here this summer that he really "needed" a watch. I was thinking maybe Christmas but weakened and sent it for his mom to give him just before they left for hosp.
LOL, Karen I see I am not the only one that can't wait. I had some items put back for the girls for Christmas and ended up given them a few. Mostly books.
All those goodies from the garden, wow! I have a couple large tomatoes that son brought home from his girlfriends. I could make a BLT without the L. Son says he loves avocado on his too.
Karen I guess you are right about what is going on with me. As I sit at the computer I'm still waiting for Darwin to call me for something. Can't believe I don't have to go and check on him like I used to. I do make some plans before I go to bed what I'm going to do the next day, but for some reason it doesn't happen. Tim cleaned up the chili I made last night so I do have a human disposal. He is so skinny he needs to put on some weight. Maybe I'll put the London broil in the crock pot this week end and see how that turns out. The dogs sure keep my company, think I would be lost without them.
Oh, such cute pups! I want one.
Ooooooh puppies, and Goldens to boot. Sigh I miss my Ginny. Don't get me wrong I love our Molly and now Lacey too. Who BTW is turning out to be such a nice girl. It's taken since May for her to really start blooming. She is just awesome with Amelia. I'm still hoping she will learn one day what toys are. She sure did figure out treats and snuggle laps in a hurry.
It'll take time Pegi, That was a huge loss for you. Happy you have Tim to cook for. If this gets worse rather than better or lasts too very long, you might have a chat with your Dr. Just know we all care about you and you can talk with us anytime about anything. Hugs.
Sitting here with tears, they are soooooo beautiful.
"Eweed" what do we call you? I'm glad you jump right in and not miss a beat in our convos!
I'll take the crabs, and nope, no Costco nor Safeway here, but I don't mind cleaning the pineapples. Been doing that since 9. Each week, I'd be cleaning at least 2 pineapples, cut them in wedges and they were snacks for the family, besides bananas and the seaonal tropical fruits. Gosh, I miss the fruits back home.
How old are your pups? They are beautiful
Marion you had suggested avocadoes on tomato, and I did that one day. It's good! I can go for just a simple tomato and mayo sandwich here. I don't think I can manage to keep presents away from any kids... yep... will give them before time. Anyway, your dgds deserve them! May you have some energy today. I'm returning that to you!
How's the clean up going with your son, Karen? I'm glad that he's getting some bodies to help him.
Pegi, it's great you have a Mikey!! You could throw in a packet of onion soup mix with your London broil. Crockpots and microwaves, make cooking so much easier.
Good morning sistahs. Coffee is on, grab a cup with some chocolate chip cookies! Sometimes I dunk them in my coffee. Unfortunately, I can only have 2 cookies.
Sis Kathy, hope you're through getting your shindig ready.
Are the kids still with you LK?
Waving to Cookie and Sue. Me think Sue needs a sistah night with you!
I practically crashed yesterday. But not until I sorted out 1/4 of HIS Dvd collection. Kel has hundreds of horror flicks that will be donated to the library or sold off on eBay.
This man clung to the old westerns, great male actors such as Clint Eastwood and scifis. I will just NOT tell him that I'm getting rid of them as well. Put it this way, our bedroom walls are lined with books, cds and dvds, If I can get rid of the dvds, there'd be more space for books!
Oh, the living room is also crammed with books! Just his art books take more space than my cookbooks!
And I didn't describe the sewing room. the guest room.. the bathroom...
Don't cry Karen, I can send you some kitties along with a six foot three caretaker!!
Ummmm think I'll pass on the kitties Jaye. Two dogs & two birds just about do it for me. I have enough caretaker to deal with for now.
Talked to son last night and daughter just before. She & family & older son are all helping with the clean up. His Christmas ornaments from years back are OK, they were in a bin that floated. The tree skirt & angel topper I made some time back unfortunately didn't survive. I can make a new skirt, but the angels I made for them when I was doing porcelain dolls. Don't have any more pieces parts left.
His hot water heater survived, he doesn't know about the furnace yet. Dryer was floating so might be OK.
Jaye, Kim and I are just before taking a load of boxes full of book to the Goodwill Bookstore. She is an avid/fast reader and we have walls similar to yours. I read a lots but not as fast as she does...or Abbigail does for that matter.
Kim and I had the girls last night to celebrate the return to school. We went to a new place (for them) and on the way we were discussing the name...The Flying Bear. Then Catie-Beth popped up with "Kimmie, what is their genre?" I almost wrecked the car to hear a 9 yo use the word and correctly. When will I ever learn that she has a very large vocabulary for her age!
Pegi, each day will start to get easier.....the pain will always be there but not in the way it is now. Dmail me when you need to talk.
Well, need to go load the car and make some walking room in the foyer.
Morning everyone!
Jaye, I take the boys back tomorrow. I have had a lot of fun with them, but really over did it yesterday shopping for school supplies, and clothes! Resting today with pain pills.
eweed/Ernie, it is nice to have you join us here. Love those precious puppies!
Dad is doing really good. My Sis was up visiting him, when his Brother and Sister came in and surprised him. My Dads Brother has had a lot of medical issues as well, he has had 4 open heart surgeries, and they are testing him for Parkinson's, and his Sister lives in St. Louis. They flew up to Michigan, just to see him, and he was so happy.
Aw, that was so sweet of them!
Is there anything I can do to help, Karen? Kel says he'd be glad to lend a hand if he's closeby, and bring along a couple of prison officers.
Dear Marion and "Kimmie". Seems as though AB and CB will keep your brains challenged constantly, You both will have no fear of Alzheimer's then! What have you been feeding the girls?? Are they that way with their parents too, or just with you, letting them speak their minds?
I am missing on inquisitive and intelligent chatter from the wee ones. Keep a journal Marion, there's enough fodder for a children's book ;)
Your dad certainly needs that reunion. He'd be over the moon when YOU get there Linda K.
Been sorting out DVDs, I did say hundreds right? Found more boxes in storage.,, and those VCR tapes.. Kel agreed to sell them off on eBay. Yay.. Christmas moneyII IF there were buyers. Might have to throw away the tapes.
Good day for moving boxes from storage to the house, as the weather's been clear.
Good night sistahs.. nice meeting you Ernie.
You might be surprised Jaye, people are still buying VCR tapes.
Sistah Scape they call me Ernie or big Ernie or just big. Call me anything you like but please not late to supper.
Those puppies are gone but Andy is just past 10 so is Jenny the wonder dog . James is 5 he is the last of what I refer to as the Golden Horde lol. We had four but my beautiful Gabby died at the ripe old age of 17 which is old for a big dog. She was such a lady. She would not come into the house unless she was invited. She was a big strong girl of 80 pounds who once offered to chew up a belligerent guy along with Pete my champion hunter. The police were called by a woman with a cell phone and the police arrested him and got him for drinking and driving plus road rage. The two old dogs are not protective but James is willing to step up. I have had multiple Golden's since 1980 but these are the last for me. I will be 72 this fall and have vowed to not leave one of my babies behind..
Lovely Linda so nice you remember me from elsewhere .I am so glad you liked my puppies pictures thanx. Those are from the days when I sold puppies. It was a lot of busy work but was so fun. Just think of laying in the grass on a warm spring day with 8 or 9 Golden puppies they crawl on you and fall on you and lick you and even bite on you lol. What fun. Easy to remember your name because I have been married to Linda for 48 years this Dec. Thanks for the warm welcome .
Our golden was Ginny also a wonder dog. I had mentioned to my mom if I ever got another dog it would be a golden and at that point I wasn't sure. She called me within a week and said I have your dog for you. We lived 250 miles away but my son was visiting her so he brought Ginny to me. She was the only pup of a dam so old they didn't expect her to be able to have pups any more. Our Children were grown so she grew up with our grands. She loved tennis balls as much as she loved us and had to have two at all times. She could catch both too. She was an awesome good dog. Several in the family loved her so much that they also tried to get Ginny's but none were like her. We lost her when she was 15, she had a stroke. I cry every time I see one but like you I won't get another pup now, also 71.
I was doing OK with your first tomato photo, saying to myself, "Oh those look like mine". Then I got to the ones where you have ripe maters and I'm just drooling. I'm in northern MI and this has not been a good year for growing. I'm hoping a few of mine will ripen before we get back to frost. It's been close already, down to mid-30s.
So glad you are here Ernie, this is a fun site.
Wonderful pictures Ernie. Could I ask why you grow your tomatoes in the green house? Of course with the cool nights we've had this summer, I wish mine were growing in a greenhouse! I'm jealous of your beautiful, big house. Do you have acreage?
Good morning!!
Ernie, call me Jaye. I am sooooo envious of your bounty! Hmmm fried green tomatoes, and they are so meaty! Can see myself helping to those Roma tomatoes. Are you bias towards cherry tomatoes? Or are they gone? Do you sell them?
Never had a 'golden' but a friend had one. Beau was smarter than his human! He'd bring his bowl to him when he's hungry. Cutest thing was when he acts overprotective to his human companions.. friend's young ones.
Through the years of rescuing back in Louisiana, we had mutts, one Great Dane, a Cockapoo and a don't know what kind of spaniel! Now here in NC, God's been merciful in letting a GS/Basset Hound mix show it's beautiful eyes to Kel!
Karen, talking of age...I'll be sixty next year, but I don't think I'll have another when Lola's gone. I expect her to live for 7 more years, she's 8 now. Even though Kel's a decade younger, don't think he's responsible enough on his own with ANY furry babies!!!
Morning Cookie.. how about some DD coffee and croissants!! Ernie, come get your breakfast!! Hi Linda!!
Oh I'm gonna disclose this!!! On ants here and I can't keep my mouth shut!!!
Congrats LK!!!!! Yayyyyy... me think you won an EQ 7 right?
Once we talked about you getting an Electric Quilt program, and you said you'd wait on that! Good decision, you saved two hundred bucks!!!! If what you've posted on FB is true, I am indeed very very happy for you!
I have the series 5, don't have the money to upgrade it, and now a new license is required. But still am enjoying it. Think Thunder has the 6 version.
Lovely weather we're having today, no rains for 2 days and I wish the same for my sistahs who don't need them.
Think I'll do an encrusted roast pork loin, with just Italian breadcrumbs. Would be better if I had some parmesan cheese. Kel will have a feast tonight at work.
Waving to Marion, Sue, Sis Kathy, Susan and special Lurkers. Have a wonderful Sunday

Welcome Ernie, I am Marion. No dogs at our household.....:-(. We live right in the middle of a tomato growing area but you wouldn't know it. I don't have enough area with sun to grow much of anything. Gotta love those trees...duh!
Jaye, your dinner sounds so good. We are having a small beef roast...something we don't have very often. Not sure what I will prepare to go with it.
I would love to be a "fly" at my GDs house today. Their dad comes home after spending the last 5 weeks diving in the Tortugas...and to think he gets paid to do it. Some job!!! They were getting excited Friday but today I bet they are uncontrollable. Talk about daddy girls.
Have a wonderful day everyone. Off to see if "sleeping beauty" has turned over so far. :-)
Yes Jaye, I won a computer program to design quilts, called Electric Quilt 7. I can't wait to get it!
I will be asking for help, trying to learn to use it!
Marion, just drive over!!! That curiosity might kill ya! Good excuse to give your son a much needed hug too.
My sleeping beauty doesn't know it yet, but he's about to be pushed out of bed!
LK, there are other companion programs to go with the EQ. I didn't get any as each can cost around 30.
I'm still trying to master my EQ5. But for a non pro like me, it's just fine. You'll love the import feature where you can take pics of your fabrics and use them in design.
Congrats my sistah. So far you've won an AccuCut, now this. Let's hope you'd win the big one.. a long arm!
Karen nothing like a golden young or old. I speed the ripening of my tomatoes by cutting off the top of the plants just above the last decent sized green tomatoe. Here the weather is so cool I will cut the tops of my plants any day now. A flower will not have time to become a tomato. The other thing I do is sever half of the root off. It is said this tells the plant it is dying so it produces extra energy to ripen the fruit that is still green. I do it and it seems to work. I pull a few plants up by their roots and hang them upside down in my warm green house to ripen on the dying vine.
Jaye I have several cherry tomatoes yellow, red. orange. gold and black. Also grape tomatoes red and the heirloom yellow pear. I grow the cherries in 30 gallon cow lick tubs sitting on cheap four wheel dollys so I can move them around in my cold gh. We sell a few but most go to our friends and family. I would love to take part in the feeding frenzy at the croissant dish but that would not work well for me. I have had stomach by pass surgery and it works I have lost 100 pounds in a year and a half but the goal is 50 more. 160 may not be a realistic goal but that's where I want to get to. My a1c has gone from 10.5 to 6.3 and I rarely need insulin anymore. Ya hoo
Joycet I grow inside because I don't have the sun nor temperature to grow outside. I also get late blight outside because the plants stay wet from the ocean fog. I live 15 miles from the salt water so there you have it. I can get cherries to ripen but they mature faster inside. We live on two acres that are chainlink fenced. Ugly but it was effective in keeping our three kids off the busy road out front. It is also great for my goldens it keeps them off the road to. I usually have all the gates padlocked to keep intruders from letting my dogs out. yes 42 years at this address so these two acres have been a work in progress.
Marion think Stihl, Husqvarna, Homelite all chainsaws lol.
l to r 1 corn. 2 Sugar Snap peas. 3 peppers. 4 young cherries in cow lick tubs. 5 onions and potatoes
We did cut the tops off our tomatoes just yesterday. Just so you don't think I'm dealing with a farm here, we live in the woods in northern MI. Yard is all shade & sand. I have a tub of about the size you show with tomatoes in it. 1 cherry. We are on a lake so great place for the dogs, grands & greats. Looking to sell and move to a bit warmer weather, this cold here is too hard on me.
Congrats on your weight loss and a1c #s. I had surgery date for bypass and life got in the way.
Beautiful view and Ooooh I love your garden guardian, eagles are my passion. My granddaughter in TN had garlic come up beside her front porch. I had a heck of a time convincing her that was what it was. She harvested about 8 so pretty good considering they were volunteers. I'm thinking former tenants must have tossed out some garlic before they moved.
