Debbie, that moon shot is beautiful! Congrats on getting it on air!
Betty, that quilt is beautiful!
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?chat with friends old/new
I meant to comment on your moon shot too Deb. It is stunning and no wonder they put it on air!!!!
Beautiful moon shot, Debbie. You must come here to visit with your camera. The skies are so clear here. It is unbelievalbe at night. A major difference from southern Ca.
This has been a strange week for me. Days have alternated between really good and really bad. Yesteday was one of the bad ones and I slept about twelve hours last night. Today is good so I'm enjoying!!
The upside of yesterday's "bad" was that I spent a lot of time on the puter and a bunch of ideas came together on how to insulate my house!! I shared with Tony this morning and he is off to buy some supplies while I have some coffee. I am really excited. It will be a long project but a lot of it is work I can do or at least help with. Yesterday was godawful hot even with the a/c and I was remembering an electric bill of $1,000 - good food for thought.
Maria and I went out for dinner Friday but her friend who has the restaurant was late and said it would be an hour before food was ready so we came here and had turkey and salad and fruit. I had brought a bag of black cherries from Ca. - a super treat.
I'm still coming out of my deep, deep wonderful sleep. Have to move around a little.
hugs, katie
Dianne, send the bubble wrap. :-) I knew better than to attempt to move the tree but it was bugging me while it was across the driveway.
Betty, I got a very through scolding from my son!!!!! He was on vacation and I honestly thought I could move the tree easily...not!
I am so happy you are doing well Dianne! Miss your posting.
Jean, joy to my heart when I see you posting. Please send me some of that rain...it is so dry here. Did have a little rain yesterday but not enough to really do much good. Maybe today.
I am also hungry for turkey since reading your post Katie. Shucks, I am hungry for any thing I can bake in an over. Haven't had one since the first of May. That should change this week when the new cabinet is installed. You all will probably hear me shouting for joy.
Fantastic picture Debbie. I envy all those who can capture such great sights. I am not one who does very well with a camera...more a point and shoot person.
Waving to all others....have a great, safe weekend.
Thank you, and all I did was ZOOM and point and shoot. I don't have a fancy camera.
Tonight is the Super Moon, so Betty go out and take a look. That was taken about 8:15 or so last night....just as the sky was turning to a darker blue for night time.
Katie, I would love to show up there with my camera. I think I drove Betty crazy on our trip with my camera.
DH has gone to his family reunion and "surprise" birthday party for his Mom. Her BD was in April, and she has already had two parties. Zipping the lip. ANYWAY......my guys want to go out and do something....so they helped clean a bit...we might head to the lake.
ok, yesterday was a banner "sons day"........
On July 2nd, i figured "I know FB has changed, so maybe my son Daniel's blocking of me has changed"...... so I sent a message (yes, I could, so I'm not blocked by him anymore), putting mine & Bob's picture, and my mom's 94th birthday pic on - hoping he's at peace and sending the whole family's love, etc. He answered on the 8th........ I posted back to him on the 11th. Don't want to rush it - we haven't communicated in 15 years......
Yesterday, I found a friend request on FB from Bob's son (Adam) by his 2nd marriage - yes, the one where his ex wanted Child Support even though both "children" are in their 20's and out of the house.
I answered, and his common-law wife (Emily) replied, and we had a great conversation!! Adam had asked his mom for our contact information, but she wouldn't give it to him, so he searched for us on his own. Bob's daughter, Cassandra, is just like her mom, so that's a lost cause.
Emily put a lot of pictures up on the conversation, and wow - we're all excited!! We haven't heard from Adam for about 8 years...... as Emily said, Adam was nervous, BUT he took the first step. Said we could contact him on his FB conversation anytime. He's 23 now, graduated college as a big rig diesel mechanic.
As I said - this was a "sons day" yesterday....... I'm so excited, and reeling with the ideas.
I'm going to take it very easy and slow with Daniel - after all, last time he blocked me.......
Got shivers reading the post Susan..best news ever! Long time in the making but perhaps they are down now and can make their own decisions. How is the job doing? So hoping it was the perfect fit for you. Just great seeing you post!
Debbie, how will I ever stay up past 8:30 but will try
I will get my camera out and snap a photo if I can, won't npbe newsworthy but will attempt it.
You and Bev are such artists with your photography..I snap snap snap but don't have the knack to capture the beauty such as you both do..ohhh go to the lake, hmmm maybe I shall do the same, take a run to Rita's, perfect view of Georgian Bay.. No I rather enjoyed the picture taking, think you missed the best photo of all, Illinois cornfields. Lol
Marion, now how did I know you would catch the what for from your son, likely because I have a similar son.
I carried the big tv cabinet from back shed, a t.v. And chairs/table and said free to good home, lady just stopped, I said they were free must the entire lot had to be taken, off it went..thank the lord, was worried I'd have to carry it back..now Marion you have me hungry for turkey but I'll have to settle for left over souvlaki dinner.
Katie, as long as there are more good days than bad days all is ok..ohh maybe I can drive Debbie down to Mexico to take photo's, wouldn't that be something...pack your bag Debbie.
Deb, are you rested from your trip?
Just spoke to Darlene, she is having Mae's memorial on the 26th of July, day after I'm gone..not good, I so wanted to be there. Am sure she understands though. We talked about Florida, she is thinking of haing her convertible shipped and fly with the kitties, because she has two kitties she is saying I must fly with her..doubtful I'd do that, would have driven her down but not sure about the other.
Barb, I'm sure those organizations will be thrilled with your donation to their quilting charities via fabric. You are wonderful for doing so.
Just going to take a quick ride over to Rita's to drop off her Roadtrip 2014 manual.
already made a cement mess, tried the inverted draped cement flower pot, not my thing so used up the rest to make 3 hypertufa gardening containers..am sure the drapped vase will be too flimsy.
the cupboard and chair set all gone, thank goodness
emptied my trunk, 2 two big air bags in it to see how much room it would take
girls will be allowed each 1 bag 22x39 inches after air is taken out and one of the tote bags I made them..this rather than suitcases..yep they can do it, tried mine and I've plenty of room in case I get want to shop..would make life so much easier. Suzanne is not fond of the idea but if she wants to use her car then suitcases it will be and almost double gas $$$
I'm singing oh happy days..found 2 long strips of the fabric I needed, did sew them together but heck you'd have to be an eagle eye to find the extra seam..once quilted 'never' lol
few things I'd change, like the numbers of fabric needed to complete a vertical row but for this one it's ok..was just a test drive.

Busy day (as usual) for you Betty .. looks like you have the packing scenario down to an art, and, the quilt is (I think) fabulous !!
Glad ya got rid of your 'give aways'.
Laundry/linen change day today, was able to get the clothes and sheets on the line .. Lorna spent 3+ hours detailing he truck and my car .. look good ...
Her right knee is SO not good, and, she just will NOT rest it up ..
Susan, that is quite the story .. be everso nice if 'things come together ...
Re .. the SUPER MOON .. well .. it doesn't get dark here until about 1030pm .. so .. if it's absolutely fab, hubby will waken me .. skies are clear right now, but, some clouds are moving in.
We have ahd a banner year for gorgeous moths .. attaching a pic of a Sphinx Moth .. have had Lunas too, but, sadly, the Blue Jays and Crows eat them up :-(
Holding up my 'MAGIC MIRROR' .. saying good night to everyone
~M~
Susan !! so good to see you ♥♥♥
Betty Quilt is GORGEOUS, not yelling...well maybe. it is gorgeous. ^_^ have to put it on my quilt bucket list.
Debbie, sending special gentle hugs ♥♥♥ Love your moon pictures. I am one of those not great with the camera. love to try though.
Marion, you can have some of our rain. it has been pouring and pouring here. thought I might of needed the ark to get home from work today. I waited at the doorway for 40 mins. before leaving it was crazy!! David said we had hail at home. the lightning was intense. police on the roads, to get people to drive slower, where they were covered in water, cars making big wakes!! it was coming down too hard to clear away fast enough.
we have been having pouring storms every day.
too cloudy here to see moon. can see there is bright light, but can not really see moon.
sweet dreams Y'all. Have a great tomorrow
I have been going back and forth out there.....is so cloudy can't see it yet!!!
Has been a good day, took the boys to the Pirates Festival, I have definitely outgrown the
love of that with so many people and children fighting. LOL Did enjoy walking but was
definitely HOT.
T
Debbie, took a photo, think the moon would have been glorious but it is shinning under the clouds, drats
Can I go to sleep now. Lol
LOL I can't get a good shot either....yes. Go to bed! Is covered in clouds here too.
Just listening to weather on buffalo news, inclement weather coming your way / my way..we're saying all the festival will be heavily rained on tomorrow..aren't you glad you went to the festival today?
After brother Bernie saying he would visit mom today he didn't show so mom had no company today..had a good talk with her, this fall might be the answer to our prayers..she said that she has always wanted things, couldn't bare to not have them but now she knows they are just things and an small seniors apartment is all she needs.. Opulent believe she said that.
Asked if I could try and do her hair and pick her up some muffins
If I could only fall asleep as I need to be up and out of here about 6:30 or so..2 hr drive each way, sure would like to be home by 1:00
hahaha Betty - had to laugh when you mentioned "Bernie"......... Adam's wife, Emily, called Adam's mom "Bernie" for Bernadette. Bernadette Hates that name and gives Emily "what for" about it. I told Emily - I like her more & more all the time lol
Remember - Bernadette is the one who wanted us to continue paying Child Support long after both kids were married and living away from home....... that stopped in February, thank goodness, my daughter and her boss, the lawyer lol
Morning all,
Yikes, storm is a brewing, can't stay and chat, trying to be in the city and back by 1:00pm
No fun driving in this...
BRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr .. did someone fast forward us into late OCTOBER !!
Yesterday it was 88F here, AC as running, I would think it'd be a possibility that some folks might have their furnace on .. I'm holding out .. it's sunny .. good enough for me .. am thinking this will come your way Betty as well as Dianne, Debbie and Karen .
Apparently the CYCLONE in Japan last week shook up the jetstream, and this is whatcha get .. just happy we don't get cyclones !!
DinLaws 'Nan' passed away on Friday .. they were close .. so, it's a sad time .. we're just waiting to hear when the service will be .. am thinking perhaps Tuesday.
She was a 'Rosie the Riveter' during the second world war .. made airplane parts here at at a huge factory .. quite the lady .. too bad her 'stellar qualities' weren't grasped by my D in L ..ok, pushing my saucer of milk away !!!
Off to the Reserve for gas for Lorna's truck and the lawn toys ...
Magic Mirror shows me all of you are going to have a splendiferous day ^_^
~M~
PS .. clod covered moon here last night, Gord let me sleep .. YAY~~
Good morning all.
Hope your visit with Mom is a good one and that you get home again safely. You storms you are getting today, I will get tomorrow and Tuesday. Today is hot and humid so will be an indoor day.
Our printer bit the dust this past week so Norm got a new one. He will install it today while I work on the sewing room. Then he is moving all the totes I have stacked with give away stuff. Maybe by tomorrow I will be able to function in there again.
Off to finish my breathing machine for this morning and waving to everyone~~~~~~~
good morning
the weather doesn't know what it wants to do today. rain ? sun ? but it sure is muggy and humid out.
wonderful pics of the moon, very pretty.
love the quilt Betty.
Susan happy news about Adam. ! hope the job is going good for you.
sorry to hear about your " Nan" sending healing thoughts to you and the family.
hope everyones weather gets better.
not much going on here.
trying to figure out what to do with the kids this week. we need some fun.
i have started organizing the house. gutting out closets, drawers ect.... hoping to build some shelves .
Back from the city, long day, intended to stay until 11am be home by 1:00pm but didn't leave hospital til 2:00pm..omg you should have seen the traffic, crazies are out..bumper to bumper..almost got hit 3 times, no wasn't me, all them. Lol
One I was at a stop light, so glad I stay a vehicle behind, light turns green, guy (older gent) presses on gas and he has it it reverse, not sure how he missed me!
Then on my way home car pulls towards the right into my lane, thank goodness I saw him coming into my lane, when he realized it guess he felt bad and without looking darted to the left across 3 lanes and took a side road, shaking my head.
On the back road a few concessions away a car pulls from a side road right in front of me, no cars behind me but they have to go first, slammed on m breaks and the car got no more than 40 ft they pull nto their drive. Grrrr. So that is my experience on the highways that are bumper to bumper with tourist and cottagers.
I did stop in cookstown at a fabric shop, didn't buy fabric but did buy a pattern, has a big pine tree and adirondack chair, sooo cottage'y
As for mom, each time I wanted to leave she got upset...she is sooo frail
I will call tomorrow and see if I can meet with the manager of the seniors apartment and see how long waiting list is
We had a long talk, she says she doesn't want to die right now, know she can't go home so I suggested if she is in rehab until she is stronger n her feet for likely a month or so that I would
Book. To the seniors home that is I midland, think I posted photo's a few months ago, like going to a resort..even convinced her she could afford $3,500-$4,000 a month for a 1 bedroom apt..sat and showed her re finances and it would be what is best, best of everything there so will also call them tomorrow to see how far in advance you have to book a stay?
She is doing well with her moving around..only think is she is 94lbs, hasn't been eating and is very weak.other than that I marvel at how well she is.
So it's been quite a day, tired me out
Off for hot bath, cup of coffee and early night.
Read your posts and will be back shortly to gab, that is if I don't fall asleep first.
beautiful dragon fly LK.
Betty so glad to hear Momma Fran seems to be thinking smart about living arrangements !!
Sorry to hear about your DinLaw's "Nan"
Betty - your mom is being smart - that's a good thing!
It's 31c here today - ouch it's hot on the tootsies, walking barefoot, so I've put shoes on (grumble, grumble lol)
Going out to play in the dirt - potted dirt, that is lol
31 Susan, so that is where our good weather went to. Lol
Thanks re mom, hard seeing her so frightened, now if only she doesn't change her mind.Bernie is the one who likely would tell her she would be ok at ome,met someone to help her..sure hope not!
Condolences "M" re DIL 's loss.
Beautiful photo's LindaKay, didn't realize they we're such vibrant colors.. Is it unusual seeing mode of transportation being horse?
Barb, they make these printers so disposable nowdays, almost cheaper buying one vs buying printer cartridge.
Sue is there a day camp near you for the kids..long summer ahead for you to entertain them..do they visit with grandparents for any of it?
Just fell asleep and Kyle dropped in, he is so proud of his new vehicle..he and girlfriend went to Niagara falls and just got back..he must take after his grandma for putting miles on the car.
Going to try this sleep thing again
There are lots of ranches here, but we hardly see the horses in town tied up somewhere.
Betty no day camp is to expensive. YMCA camps. They had their fun at a 4H camp.
So glad you had your driving angel watching out for you.
going to try and take kids to a few things in the next two weeks.
Kings Island , Tom will come too. :)
then maybe an Imax theatre thing. Those are always fun
got a new lamp today...
Morning all,
bright outside but brrrr, so hope you southerners save me the warm weather minus the rain!
Sue sounds like you have a plan the kids will enjoy..ohhh what kind of lamp..so need two in the basement rec room, of course nobody uses so now sure why I need it.
Kyle and his new 2014 wheels..one up from my little sonic, difference has all the toys and a TRUNK, how I need a trunk lol
Betty .. so sad to see your Mom so frail .. nice to hear she's up and about though .. I was NOT a happy camper for about 3 weeks following my surgery ..
Do so hope the accomodations in Midland pan out for her, and, that Bernie gets realistic .. the chances of falling at home, as opposed to the seniors complex are higher .. in the proper facility, she'll blossom !
OMG LindaK .. that Dragonfly is gigantic, and, such a beautiful colour !! Ours tend to be smaller and darker, except for the everso wonderful and eye pleasing 'Damsel Fly' .. as for the horse .. too funny !! See it out this way when the County Fairs start up .. went to get the paper down on the raodway one morning, and here were 3 young girls riding up to the Fair Grounds, the LONG way around, they were SO excited, and, their hoses were all buffed up ..
Betty, I do swear that Canada has some of the WORST drivers in the world !!!
Glad you were able to out think those people ..
Sue , summer camps are outrageously priced here .. the Hockey camps are around $300./week AND, they're FILLED!!!
There are other programs run by the city that are more 'sanely' priced ..
Looks as though we might be in for a rainy day .. I'm off to a meeting today for 11 .. then I 'should' go and see about the 'lift' I have to have made up for my right shoe .. we'll see .. feel kinda 'all in' this morning .. no idea why, except that wee Zoey has turned out to be a BEDHOG and a very SOUND sleeper .. woke up last night hanging onto the bed post!!!! Tried to move her over, but, NO WAY ... she was OUT!!
Hope everyone has a great day
~M~
Both of our dogs sleep with us, usually on my side of the bed. Blackie, the lab/pit mix sleeps right by my side, and Luna, the German Shepherd sleeps right at my feet. So needless to say, I stay quite warm!
Betty, he has a nice car! Tell him to take care of it! Love that quilt pattern too!
Betty i got a lamp from walmart and it has shelves . i want to get one for each side of the bed. Tom and I both were glasses LOL and we both enjoy reading in bed. I just hope there is enough light ?
Nice care your son has ! sporty too.
M yes camps are high. I lucked out and was able to recieve a scholorship for this camp.
Just spent all morning lookng into the Coldwater seniors apartment and 750 king in Midland, provided db Mike and DS Sharon with nto so let's see what they decide to do with info..on my way to get the application for Coldwater, get it filled and put mom n the waiting list.
I sure hope they can get her into one of them quickly!
The one in Midland that we want her to go to is available as soon as she is out of the hospital
Ooh that is good news. Sending hugs......
That is great news Betty!
Great if you can get her moved in and settled.
