Went to town, got new tires put on, oil change, visited with Robert and Lorraine..almost missed them, we passed each other, they were on their way to my house and I to theirs.

Of course I had to pick up Chinese, yummy yummy in the tummy.

Going to settle in, call see how mom is doing tonight, imagine at 3:30pm they hadn't operated yet, still waiting for a surgery room. I will call aunt Muriel and let her know I will pick her up at 7am, call to talk with mom then early to bed..grass can wit Neil tomorrow

Beautiful day here. Spent all day in the garden. Pooped now!!

Betty .. I doubt you'll be speaking with your Mom post op .. I just hope she actually HAS the surgery .. it's a big deal what with surgeons and OR staff and the all coveted WEEKEND !!

Sharon says she is frail, her thoughts is that mom is over medicating and therefore falling.

I'm just getting ready to head out, not sure what the day will bring..here is hoping surgery is being done early this a.m and not as you say "M" Monday due to weekend.

Here I had a weekend of relaxation planned, yes I did. Lol

Sending more prayers for your Mom and for you Betty. Hope you find her in no pain. Hope you get answers too regarding surgery. ((((Hugs)))))

Payton will be thrilled to see his Mom Karen. It is really hard when the grands get sick and Mom is not near. That was always my big worry when we used to watch them when the parents went on a trip. You are a great grandmother my friend........

Had a fantastic day in Gainesville yesterday. Traveling was great...very light traffic! Many of the group I was involved with came for the party so it was not only a special 97th birthday for a special lady but a great visit with friends.

Well I need to get back to loading the cupboards in the Dungeon. Ah such joy!!! Finally!!!

Not going to chat for long, Lordy I know it is the result of a stroke but Aunt Muriel didn't stp talking for one minute, longest time between words was I counted to 4
Love her dearly but it sure did tire me out! And I thought I was a chatty Cathy..

Arrived to the hospital just as Sharon and Kim did, no sooner said hi to mom that they wheeled her to surges so off we went for an hour, had breakfast then the two girls left and aunt Muriel and I stayed until she was back in the room ..chatted for an amour then left as my brother Bernie and his wife Charlene were to arrive shortly, thought mom shoulfpd have a little rest.

The we're concerned during surgery as they were afterwards, her bp was 86/33. They were contacting dr when we left to see what they could do to bring it up..

Glad to hear she had her surgery. Too bad you can't give her some of your blood pressure! :) Sending prayers for a speedy recovery!
By the way, how is your blood pressure doing?

While everyone on the street sleeps I'm planning out my day..looks as though it will be a sunshine day so I'll focus on things I've not done these past few weekends of road running.

Karen, kids sure recover quickly..Payton must have been extatic to see hi mom but then right off to play with the kids...quite a responsibility you have when being caretaker, has it made you nervous?

Marion, laughing at "M" and your post re stuff, wonder if my boys will think I've only good stuff when it comes time to clean out downstairs.Lol

Think we need an intervention re mom but what to do??she will say we are picking on her

Her Neighbor across the street said the've watched mom outside and she is unsteady on her feet, know she over meds and likely the reason..the Bryan my nephew told me to look at mom"s van, Lordy she has backed up into something several times, dings all over..front bumper as well

Then her saying she has dozed off while driving and going through stop sign, something has to be done

Darlene just called me, her mom passed on during the night!

Poor thing, loss her husband,dad and mom within past few years

Quite the big BIG storm outside overnight .. the dogs were frantic, and i was non too impressed either!
Power was off 3 times .. 3 times resetting digital clocks, and, anyone with a Keurig coffeemaker .. they shut off when the power goes off on them too ..

Darlene must be relieved as well as saddened .. my thoughts and prayers are with her, and they remain with you too Betty re your Mom .. so happy she attended that wedding !!
I'm sure you'll see a change in her as she recovers from this surgery, she may lose some of here 'fiestiness' ..

On the hunt .. still .. for the barometer .. we don't really have a 'tractor store' per se LindaK .. but I did phone a farm supply store .. no go ..
Going in this morning to try Walmart .. the young fellow I spoke with there yesterday seemed sure they had one .. there is one shown online at Walmart ..

One of those days I guess

Got an email from Rita..poor gal, spend 6 months with me after her breakup, hubby playing mega games

Just got into her house, struggling emotionally and financially until her matrimonial home is dealt with and now

WHEN I GOT
INTO GEORGETOWN YESTERDAY AFTERNOON, WENT BACK OUT TO GET MY STUFF AND FOUND
COOLANT ALL AROUND THE FRONT END OF THE CAR.....TOOK IT TO CANADIAN TIRE AND
THEY ADVISED IT WAS THE PUMP....$1700 TO FIX (IT IS IN AN AWKARD SPOT WITH
TIMING CHAINS TO BE REMOVED ETC.) IF THE RATTLING IS THE TIMING CHAIN IT'S
ANOTHER $1000.  THEY DO NOT RECOMMEND I FIX THE CAR!!!!!!  WILL GO LOOK AT
GETTING A RENTAL AND LEAVE MY CAR HERE AT KRISTEN'S, JUST ANOTHER CHALLENGE AND MAKES ME COUNT THE DAYS THAT WE GO ON VACATION..HAVE HAD MELTDOWN FEW TIMES..

Could send you one "M" if you can't locate one?

Drats, heard noise on my front deck earlier this mornimg, opened front door and guess what I found. My cousin from the islands Orth of here remembered I liked the two wing chairs and table he had, well there they sit on my front deck..drats and more drats where to heck will I put them?

Please let her know that Norm and I send our deepest condolences. She has had a hard time these few years and we feel so bad for her. Norm still talks occasionally of cooking barbeque with her when we visited. Some things we just never forget........

It does sound like some kind of intervention is needed now with your Mom. Is this something her doctor could initiate? She is becoming a danger not only to herself but to others as well. I would hate to give up my independence but would in a heartbeat if I thought I might hurt someone.

If you have no room Betty, see about donating them... Just a thought. How long ago did you say you liked them?

Oh I'm so sad for Dar! Please send her hugs from me, and Rita, too. Gosh, Bill and I were just talking, it seems like just when you think that things are going great for you, something pops up to throw a wrench in it!

Was about four years ago I mentioned the chairs, he mentioned one day they were coming my way but then the boys bought me that super size lazy boy, takes up lots of room..
Mentioned it to Rita, doubt she has a place..if not could tarp them in back shed.

As for mom Barb, her dr. Is half the problem, she complains/complains and he hands her bottles of pills. Know something will have to be done..hope that this will put a halt to her travelling on her own for a bit while we can get the drug use issue across to her.

9 am and soon time to start the lawnmower..Sst night neighbors were having BBQ so I didn't want to cut, wouldn't have been right to do so but I don't want to wait till noon either

Betty, your car is not that old. Take it to the dealer, and get it fixed. It should be under warranty.

A friend on another thread lost her husband on Thursday. Sorry about Darlene.

We had a few hours without power shortly after I got home but it has been fine since. Thank goodness.

Got most of the van unpacked yesterday. The bag of vermiculite broke open I still have to clean that up.

Betty, you reminded me of two things. First, this was the first trip in years when I didn't have mechanical problems. Gas was expensive - about $500 for the trip - but with no mechanical problems I just said "That's fine." I did have trouble figuring out the lights and stopped in the middle of nowhere for help from a man who has helped me several times over the years. That's the second thing you reminded me of. I have a classical wonderful Mexican story about him:

On a Sunday afternoon in the middle of nowhere, (really his is the only house for miles around) the water pump on my RV died. He found parts somewhere and fixed the pump. I was almost dead broke and did not even have the $50(!!!!) to pay him but I promised to return. Months later I did return and paid his father and also left them a bag of oranges from my orchard. He has given smaller helps since, including helping me to figure out the lights on the new-to-me van. On my way home this trip I stopped. H ew wasn't there but I gave his wife a frozen chicken, a fresh pineapple and a fresh watermelon I'd gotten in San Quintin, the nearest large town which is 150 miles away. I explained that her husband has helped me and, I'm sure, others in trouble and so i was being "Santa" and saying thank you. She seemed pleased.

While I traveled alone, I had several pleasant while on the road. a good trip.

I'm still a little tired, but recovering.

It's a 2008 convertible, forget the make but she loves it so I guess her daughter offered her her car for the week while Rita decides what she wants to do, she sure didn't need this right now. Wondered if she would say she couldn't do the trip but imagine she needs our trip just as much as a car, sigh!

Katie, heartwarming to hear there are still people out there willing to go the limit to help a stranger..Lordy that is a lot of gas..think I budgeted $590 for our entire trip, that being said my car is a wee car so easier on gas.

Think you should rest today and unpack tomorrow.

Got half the grass cut, taking a break then on to finish the rest..wether or not wedding will get done today depends on my frame of mind, should really because they are calling for rain tomorrow.

Cost of gas right now is about $3.40 a gallon. Don't know how much it is up there for you in Canada?

I believe we are paying $5.02 a gallon. When liters are converted to gallon

It's a pleasure for we Canadians to gas up on your side of the border.

Every Friday I go on gas buddy calculator , we are still within budget as some states go up, some go down so we are ok

I just try to stay within estimated trip cost, not that I have to but enjoy being on target with everything.

Jerry, mom's younger brother says mom will go with him and his wife for a few months..he is quite aware of pills she is taking, every time she visits him he finds handful of pills on the floor,msays enough is enough so we will see the outcome. I would have thought fighting cancer would be enough that he doesn't need the extra worry but who knows maybe keeping an eye on her will take his mind off himself..

I'm still laying down, on a downer I guess...too much to process
