Morning all,
On the run, no can chat
Will check in when I get to Trenton
Have a great day
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends old&new
Guess I'm not on the run, have a few minutes!
Called to say I was on my way, takes me 15 minutes to get there, oops was told I said 7:00 not 6:45am. Lol
Mary, can't believe how those flowers have taken to your climate or are they a plant that normally grows there?
Not good that staff are no show..thank goodness you are able to sub
What other foods do you serve??
Must go back to the one in Barrie, great variety and great foods along with gellato
We have several firework displays in surrounding towns within our municipality..our town sets up for c tinuous 2 days of activity and music..think they have total of ten bands.
Dianne hope you saved the sunshine for me today!
Off I go, I will drive slow so I don't get there before 7:00 a.m.
As much as they wanted a trip across the border, you would they they would jump at the chance to take off 15 minutes early! Have a fun and safe trip Betty.
Katie, glad to hear your trip so far is going well! be careful going back home!
Mary, sorry to hear about you and Lance having to pull long days like that. But yep, that is the norm for shop owners! Sure hope it smooths out for you soon!
To all you ladies in Canada, enjoy your concerts and firework shows!
Betty my mom would do the same thing, it seemed to be a control thing. I think she felt she was not in control of much so what she could she would. We sat in a restaurant once for an extra half hour because we were ready to go...she was too but had the power to delay us by sitting there sipping her tea, which she was taking with. We would get her meds all set and she would dump them and re-arrange, so we would have to do it all over when she wasn't looking. Ask for something for lunch and claim she didn't once it was ready. These little things which she knew were annoying to us, i think she got a secret satisfaction out of them.
Made is safely, mom barely spoke..first of all I had said if I could take a few extra days...if...we'd cross over to USA..both she and aunt Muriel went and filled up with USA $$$
Ant Muriel forgot I told her not this time and mom didn't ask
But going ok
Wedding at 3:30 so getting dressed and off we go
Won't be a late night
Dianne pkg heading your way
Afternoon everyone! The pups and I were finally driven inside by the bugs so we are sitting here chilling in the ac. I had friends drop by and we sat on the west facing deck. Poor Diesel got so hot he asked to come back into the house.
Betty I forgot if you told us - is this an outdoor wedding? Beautiful day for a wedding but if it is outside you sure will be warm. I'll send you some $$$s for the postage. Pups are looking forward to having their outside treat bag up and running.
Oh Karen were our mams related? lol
Thanks LK. Its great I can sit on my deck and both listen to the concert and see the fireworks from my comfy swivel/rocker.
M have you come up for air yet? lol I can picture in my mind all the ruckus . How are things going .... settling down a bit?
Jean I am sitting here listening to a new fav -Sam Smith. A true blued eyed soul singer. When Mary J Blige met him she was shocked by his appearance. Smith took that as the ultimate compliment.
Just going to start Karin Slaughter's latest release 'Cop Town'. Hope it is up to her usual standard. I love her Will Trent books.
Debbie the craft show we went to when you were up 2 years ago is on this weekend. Up to 150 artisans. Sure wish you were here so we could go together.
Make sure you all do something nice for yourself today ladies.
Dianne
Evening all,
Just got back to hotel room, did some dancing and now I'm tired out.
Saw some relations that I haven't seen in forever, all live maybe 20 miles for each other and here we all drove to be at the wedding to meet up anfpd chat.
Wedding was indoors, turkey diviner, yummy.
Tv in our room isn't working, attendant coming to check it out, we will watch a show to relax and hoping an early start..would love to have the afternoon at home.
NO $$$ Dianne, just hoping you can make use of the bags
Betty - What do you call them? "Black Eyed Susans" ??? I don't know if they are common here... remember I'm the girl that got "wild Sunflowers" in a plant swap....planted them and then when they bloomed noticed them along the highway.
But these flowers are so unique and are making for SUPER cut flowers. You'd have laughed at me today... I cut some to bring to shop. While in Sams make sure to put in the shade ...I'm babying them because they have been a lifesaver. When we first opened I was spending lots on keeping cut flowers in vases at the shop.
We had a good day. Check out our website Betty...the menu is on there www.ladivinaitaliancafe.com or on facebook @ladivinabatonrouge.
(HUGS) Dianne...must be hot as Hades for Diesel to want to come inside.
Thanks LK - I keep telling myself to expect long hours. 9a-11p tonight.
It WILL Pay off .... right !
Hoping to go visit my Dad next weekend. Haven't seen him since his heart surgery. He think he needs to go plan all these things to do.... I need to tell him NO....
HUGS
Mary
good morning.
im grumpy as my pms/menapause has kicked in full swing :(
tried to work in the gardens but just to darn humid and hot ... blach
have a rabbit meeting today. i will be glad when Austin is not doing 4 H. this is his last year with bunnies.
Savannah wants to sell her goats too. She only wants to do wethers. i m all for it ! !!!
Kidneyguy no i didn't do a jig LOL . IT was a sad / happy thing. ?
I m seriously thinking about not getting the new dog. I just don't know if its in my budget ? although i would really like a more active dog to keep me more active LOL .
She is afraid of loud noises and with 4th of july coming on ??? . we have plans for that day and i don't know about leaving her alone in the house ?
Oh, Mary, YUMMY! I think the prices are reasonable, too. Do you get most of your stuff in or prepare it from scratch there?
Sue....I think you should think really, really hard on this. Maybe you've had enough changes in your household right now. Only thinking about your sanity, Sistah!
Hand pulled weeds from 6 rows of sweet corn yesterday. Boy am I paying for it today. My hands are aching so bad!
I'd love to go to that craft show!!
Got a good picture of Bella yesterday.
GROAN, and, SMILE ^_^
Zoey is NOT like our 'sort of placid but playful, Lilly and Piper. She has been around 2 kids under the age of 2, and, she is FULL of beans, BUT .. sleeps like a dream at night .. a very endearing pup who LOVES 'squeakers' !!!! Dog toys that have never been touched are squeaking away from various parts of the house ... gotta luv it (sorta) LoL
Betty .. sounds as though it was a nice wedding .. YUM to Turkey dinner .. I buy turkey thighs about once a month and we have them either BBQd or in the oven .. very nice.
Good to touch base with the relatives ..
Mary .. those flowers are so like, what I call. 'False Sunflower' .. there's another perennial (invasive) called Rudbekia that is called Black Eyed Susan .. I loved it for 2 years, and then, well, it spread like lightning!
Feel bad you had to fill in for the evening shift, and, I do so hope you DO go and see your Dad ..
Dianne .. talk about B U G S .. did sit outside and have supper last night, but, there was a nice breeze from the east keeping the flippin mosquitoes away, but, one black fly just HAD to bite Lorna on her eye lid!! It was swollen in 15 minutes, and, a warm, wet, tea bag saved the day !
Humidity here is to GAG .. put my house coat on, it felt damp ..
Thank heavens for AC !!!
Sue .. hear ya on the mixed emotions .. my gf got her final decree and bawled like a baby for several days .. she said it was such a waste of 15 years .. however, after the initial bad feelings, she shook it off, got a new hairdo, AND a motorcycle, and, she never has looked back.. btw, she sold the motorcycle after one season LoL
Best get moving here ..
Take care everyone .. waving hello from the HIGH North ^_^
~M~
Hello everyone!!!
I just caught up as much as I can:
It's so nice to hear from Shirley, I have been worried about everyone in Nebraska, Kansas, and everywhere else where there have been bad tornadoes.
Judy you are such a hoot!! Glad you're keeping busy and taking care!
Betty what route are you taking from Chicago to San Antonio? I hope those new meds are working! YIKES about the tornadoes! I think last year you had 2? That one year when I was there it took out part of Barrie. Hope you make it home safe!
Well I'm still working, get paid to travel!! I am getting more business, hoping it gets busier and busier, I'm pretty stressed about this sales stuff, I'm not a fan but keep plugging along. Joel was forced to quit his job so we are once again on my income. I'm glad he's out of that mess as it was REAL BAD. We'll be fine.
Mary hope your ads help your business!!
Dianne so sorry to hear about the tumor, I hope they get that gone and glad you are not in pain.
Waving to everyone else!!!!
Well it's hotter than all getout but I'm going to go out and plan a new flowerbed for the backyard. It's big enough for a medium size pool but is all grass. The guy who lived here before decided to put triple Bermuda grass seed out on one side of the house and it is THICK!!! Mowed part of it yesterday when it was overcast and windy, today it's sunny and HOT and HUMID.
I'll be back hopefully in a couple days!!! This week work is taking me to St. Louis for a couple days. Woot Woot!!
Afternoon,
Home just as a storm is rolling through
Got caught up reading, few things to do them I shall be back
Want to secure a few things as the wind is picking up..
This message was edited Jun 29, 2014 5:11 PM
Dianne/Debbie, here is hoping this storm doesn't hit your region!
I got a lovely gift from mom, we were at a trading post and I saw a large laying down glass frog that comes in 3 pieces , head/ body/feet..I admired i but wasn't going to spend $$$ on it, while I was trying on a really nice top mom bought the groggy and put it in the trunk, surprised me when o got home with it.
I also stopped at a casino so she nd aunt Muriel could play for a bit..they were doing great but kept playing until they lst it. I so didn't want to play but mom handed me $100 and said I must..if I could have hid somewhere and not played I would have sooo sat between the 2 of them and lost.
Stopped at a few garage sales, flea market so all and all had a great day and weekend
Yikes storm scary, will have supper, early night..think going to lose power shortly.
Talk about rumbling going on out there.
Same here Betty .. we are learning Zoey is NOY a fan of thunder and lightning ..
PITCH black here ..
Mom stepped up to the plate re the froggies :-)
Love to see a pic at sometime ..
Casinos and me, do not mix ...
Best get offline before we lose power
~M~
Poor Zoey, lots of changes to adapt to and now a storm to contend with!
Laying comfy in bed , overtired so likely won't be falling asleep for bit, ,maybe a puzzle will tire me..
Will post a photo of my froggie tomorrow..he is about 3', now where in the garden will he go.
Oh what fun!! Anew critter for the garden!!
Storm moving in here quickly. It is quite dark outside and thunder in the distance.
Drats, was in a sound sleep and Wayne, groom called tot hanks me for the blanket and $$ but mostly to thank me for bringing mom and aunt Muriel, his 1/2 sisters. Had to laugh at the reception line when you would say who you were, I'd say niece and I'd take them by surpris..he's 52 and I well let's say more years than he. Lol
Looks as though we are all getting parts of the same storm.more to come tomorrow.
Oh Joyce I know Mr. Froggie would go missing!
Crissy is it the travelling you are not enjoying?? doubt it's the meeting people, you are so good at that. Not great about Joel, had hoped it would get better for you ie 2 working. As for our heading to Texas, still haven't voted on which route. Linda called today wanted to drop off her USA $$$ and I said no..bad enough I'm responsible for the all $$ when travelling that I don't want it sooner than that.
Wonder how deb and Katie are doing
Going to try this sleep thing again
Oh Betty I know the phone call was a delight but being such an elusive sleeper as yourself I can understand your dismay at being awoken.
Oh M how is Miss Zoey doing now? Excellent she is a great sleeper. Chuckled at all the squeaky toys getting a work out. The same thing happened when Duke arrived.There were toys that were 6 - 7 years old and had never been touched - I think Duke thought he had hit the mother lode.
My elderly American neighbours ( mid 80's) are totally besotted with fireworks. They light some every night around 10 pm and after a week it gets a little tiresome. Not 5 min after they arrive each time I know we are in store for about 20 min of booms and bangs.. They must have shares in a fire cracker business.Fortunately Duke is not bothered at all by the fireworks.
Crissy it is SO good to see you. I think of you often. Hope you can get the mess that your ex has created straightened away without damaging your credit rating.What a drip he turned out to be.... some Prince Charming. I don't know how he can look himself in the morning every day.
Well I had better try and catch a few zzz's before Steve comes at 8 so we can go into town. Property tax day as much as I would like to forget it.
Dianne
morning
after a call and fireworks boom/bang I'm up, got a half a decent sleep.
just about to have coffee but thought I'd post a photo or two
Aunt Muriel, Wayne (1/2 brother) and mom
Jacqueline (bride)
Wayne's daughter Sarah and granddaughter Janine
Melding of two lives, each holding a sand representing their lives on their own and as they poured their sands together you could see how their lives (sand) blended together
finished product..the words the minister said were so endearing..
Beautiful photos Betty. Looks like a great time was had by all. I love the blouse and the froggie! I can see him laying by the pond soaking up the sun!!!!!
Edited because I hit the wrong button and I wasn't done yet!!!!
Sounds like things a really busy with you Crissy. Hope all your travels are safe ones.
Zoey sounds like she is full of fun "M" and I'll bet now that she is getting used to you and your home she will really start raising he@#$$$. What fun!! Sending wishes to Lorna that all is going well at work.
No more storms Dianne!! You deserve a few days of peace.
Waving hi to everyone~~~~~~

Morning everyone! Love the photo's Betty, she is a beautiful bride!
Sharon emailed me, loss her eldest American Eskimo
She did a tribute
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-l9kw3fv-wE&feature=youtu.be
very upset she is..
As for the bride, she is a lovely woman, not sure if the photo shows it, her shoulders/back is quite deformed, walks as though she is in mega pain, says she is not..her ex who has been diagnosed a phsyco beat her up, she almost died, major damage in spine / neck
So sorry to hear about Sharon losing a dog! I know she treats them like family like we do!
Sorry to hear about the bride too! My first ex was abusive, but I left him before he got the chance to do permanent damage!
Betty your Aunt Muriel and your mam must have been real lookers when they were younger as they are both stunning now.
Looked like a lovely wedding. Loved the photos.
What's everybody up to for your July 4 holiday? Are all your stores open like ours or do they close? Here all govt offices at all levels, the PO and the banks are closed, everything else is open. Steve says he had and I quote an "awesome" week last week so the tourists are here and they are buying potato chips at least.
Been to town and back home., Think I will have a nap as my eyes are drooping. Loaded up on all the furries' food, treats and toys for the month. They just love me when I walk into Pet Smart. They know Steve and I by sight now and often scurry to get things I always buy ready to load into the cart. Duke got a new rope and is in seventh heaven. He is sleeping on it right now but he will tease the dickens out of Diesel later with it. My goodness cat litter has really jumped in price - I was shocked. I usually load up when it is on sale and I have not seen it on sale for over a month to 6 weeks. I also bought a treadmill at Crappy Tire and Steve will pick it up tomorrow and put it together for me. The bugs are so bad it makes a lengthy walk on the lane and in the bush impossible.Poor little Duke's snout was twice its normal size last night from another deer fly bite. Benadryl time for him. My weight is up 20 lb in 2 two weeks mostly due to the fact my cortisol level is out of control but also I have not been getting enough exercise. Hopefully this treadmill will help. I hope to train Diesel to walk on it as well. If his liver treats are involved I am sure he will do it happily.
It is not enough that the deer and rabbits are clear cutting my flower gardens something is pulling up the annual plugs, eating the top and leaving the plug behind. I could scream!!!!! Think it might be a raccoon but it might also be a skunk. Sure hope not.
Sincere sympathy to Sharon Betty. It is so hard when 1 of our loves crosses the bridge. I am sure she is devastated.
M how goes the Zoey integration? Your stomach must be in knots.Hope you hear what you want to hear when the people return - it is today isn't it?
~~~~~ing right back at you Barb. Do you have ac in the apartment? Sure hope so - it makes life so much easier. Warren always wanted it on to help him breathe but he always got so cold. So he would end up with the lap quilt Thea made him on plus a shawl that Sandy another DGer had crocheted for me when I had radiation. Poor guy had so little weight left on him he felt the cold even when it was in the 80's outside.
Think I will attempt to take that nap now before I fall asleep with my hands on the keyboard. Heaven knows what my fingers would type if left to their own devices.
Dianne
Pica are wonderful Betty .. genetics shining through once again ^_^
Froggie is too cute, can hardly wait to see where you put him ..
Dianne .. Zoey is a delight, 89% of the time, the other 11% she is oviously missing her MoM .. she kinda whines (high pitched)
Took all 3 hooligans to the cemetery to see Lorna nad to visit Gord's Dads and Gord's brothers plots .. lemmee tell ya, walking over uneven terrain with a replaced hip is NOT easy, specially when you have a dog who wants to go full tilt LoL
Lorna has done just a marvelous job, and, I do promise pictures soon
Hope the treadmill works, and, that Steve is STRONG .. we had one, used it faithfully for months, then, just stopped .. when I sold it on good old KIJIJ, a young fellow and his GRANDPA arrived to take it out ~~ I was useless, Gord wasn't home, Lorna was in the hosp .. I am imagining a couple of hernias were begat that day !!!
Betty .. I couldn't watch more than 1 minute of the video for Sharon/s dog, I cried .. !! SO sad, just makes my heart ache ..
It's almost 90F here .. and ~~~~~~~~~~~WINDY~~~~~~~~~~~ .. going to go outside and HOPE the umbrella survives !
We do have ac, but, after last winter, well, nice to be outside .. I see the Peonies are poppin :-)
AND, Lupines in the ditches in the most colourful array .. I see there's an article on them on DG today, must read it ..
Off to the outside
HUGS
~M~
Must have been more tired than I thought, put my head down and just woke up..telling myself to get up and do something but here a lay!
"M" zoey is bound to miss the kids, bet those kiddies have shed a tear as well.
Can't imagine how Lorna gets around on the uneven terrain. I find it soothing to walk around the cemetery, should tomorrow walk down and see if there are old tombstones of vets that I could clean. Canada is what it is due to these brave men, lots likely have no family to clean them..
Dianne, that is a lot of weight to put on in such a short span of time, doubt you are overweight so likely looks good on you. Those pieces of excercing equipment are really heavy, perhaps Steve can fing a friend to help him carry them.
Raccoons may be your culprit..can you use live traps?
SURPRISE!
I just thought that I would drop a big HELLO! to all and hope this finds everyone okay. I'm hanging in there, but am looking to change a few things. I am hoping to be able to purchase a house back in Fremont by where I used to live.
The little town I grew up in in Nebraska was just about wiped off the map by two tornadoes on June 16th. Was able to talk to some old family friends and neighbors, but the damage was horrible. Wish I could be there to help, but am just getting over being under the weather for about 3 weeks.
Life seems to keep busy for everyone.
My daughter and husband and I went to Chicago over the weekend to see the oldest GD while her and her fiance are there for an internship he is doing there at a golf course for his degree. They will go back to Florida mid to late August. It was fun and seen a lot and walked a lot.
Well, please take care everyone and know you are always in my thoughts and prayers.
Shirley
Shirley, so glad you found us..smilling to see you post!
Do you have a realtor looking for a place for you..sure hope you can be settled in before winter.
That was quite a trip to Chicago, did you go sightseeing while visiting with grandaughter?
Sad that towns are wiped away in a blink I'd an eye.
Hey Shirley, am not fortunate enough to know you through the forum, but, wish you all the very very best.
ZOEY ,, such a love .. being mindful here .. her "Mom" has had her for 6 years .. MONDO attachment going on over those years .. right now, she has made me her GO TO human .. I am trying NOT to attach, but .. a Westie in your arms as you fall asleep is pretty awesome .. especially with 2 others ready and willing to take her place ..
Betty, I really get such a RUSH from going through cemeteries .. lots to learn, and, memories abound..
SUPPER ..
TTFN
~M~
Just watched Sharon's tribute to Koors and the tears just flowed. He was so beautiful.
And thrilled to see a post from Shirley. It's great to hear from her and crissy and Bev. They are so missed. Hope all goes well for them..
Staying in and staying cool. This weather knocks me on my butt so in AC I need to stay. Must get back to the blocks. I've been doing some knitting for the local hospital and I have neglected my sewing for a week. Also played hookey and read a book! The change was nice.
Sending prayers to all in need. Hope you all are going to have a fun Fourth!!!
wonderful tribute to her beloved furry baby
Wonderful pics of the family Betty. enjoyed them
Ok Cookie we are not getting the new dog. The kids have been a bit on the " bratty " side and i have pulled rank. no electoronics, friends . They have to prove to me they can feed and manage their animals with me nagging and reminding them.
hot and humid here
we will be canoeing on friday.
watching Harry Potter again tonight. Order of the Phoenix
Well M something else we have in common, I love wandering through old cemeteries. Did a lot of it in WV in connection to doing our family genealogy. In main family plot there was one grave missing, my mothers brother who died at 2 1/2. I knew he was there but couldn't find him. Called my mom to see if she knew the location, she said he was in same grave with a sibling who had earlier been still-born. I had seen her stone so went back to check further. Turns out the stone had sunk into the ground so his name didn't show. I made arrangements to have it cleaned and reset. Another headstone solved a big mystery for us.
The small country cemetery where my parents are was once owned by and is named for P.T. Barnum. I wonder what his connection was to a small town in northern MI.
You are right though they are peaceful places.
Great to see posts from Crissy, Shirley, and Bev ^_^ Y'all need to pop in more often
Wondering what's up with Qwilter / Jean, not usually on this thread, but on the sewing ones?? seeing the others, made me think of her.
been in the 90's and VERY humid here. I took about 20 steps across the yard this morning....and had a nasty asthma attack !! humidity usually does not bother me so much. I think the crazy storms we have been having are blowing something in with them, that my lungs are not liking at all. Good thing I like to stay in and sew :)
I got way behind on my stars, and need to do the last few Aurifil blocks. and Pat Sloan's globetrotting. I have been working on a few other of her patterns she has shared on her blog. after I get a bit more put together I will share some pictures.
Happy "Canada Day" Dianne and "M"! Still talking storms, hope they pass you by. Anything special planned?
Just walked the gardens, lots of yellow flowers Mary, as someone Sid they do reseed easily, perhaps you might want to pull them out before they ee'd themselves.
Pretty though, for me it's ok, gives a country look.
Barb, Hope your breathing is better today and you get to sew..if it rains might do same. Likely more apt to put a top on the frame. Yes, Sharon is having a difficult time, believe her dogs are closer to her than any human.
Karen that was very interesting, nice knowing ones heritage
P T Barnum, no way of fining out? Let's guess, I'd say maybe the show was in the area and a worker passed away that he had great respect/love for so provided $$ for cemetery???
Sue, good life's lesson you are teaching the kids, will also make life easier not taking in another furry.
Thunder, haven't seen Quilter (Jean) on dg for a bit..which quilter pased on was it last year? Hope she is ok..have you dmailed her? Sorry the weather has been playing havoc with your health, change in barometric doesn't help either. Don't push yourself to sew, rest a bit.
Although I have plans set out for the day I can here rumbling in the distance so maybe my frog won't get to sun ner the pond yet. Then the grass needed cutting, heck if I wait till Thursday it will be done for the weekend.
My car has a bag of cement, bag of ground chips, bags of supplies for the hypertufa vases but think they will stay there until I'm guaranteed nice weather...oh well, it's early, maybe it will clear up!
Happy Canada Day to you Betty and to Dianne, Thea and "M", Hope it is a fun day for you all....
It is so humid and hot here already today. It is going to be a stay in week for me I fear. I've plenty to do to keep me busy. Although, I must admit, it seems funny to be knitting mittens when it is this
hot!!! LOL
I haven't heard from Jean in a long time either Thunder. I think I may have her number here - I'll look for it and try to call her if I can.
I tried really hard to keep up with the stars and Aurifil and Globetrotting but I, too, fell behind. My quilt room is where my oxygen concentrator is located and it throws off a tremendous amount of heat. We have been keeping the door closed and the AC on in the rest of the apartment. I couldn't work in there now if I wanted to. Way too hot to breathe.....Hopefully the temps will fall soon.
Betty, please let Sharon know that Norm and I send our sympathies regarding Koors. And I hope you get to set out your frog soon!
Sending happy thoughts to all~~~~~~~
Thanks Barb, will do..Sharon will appreciate your understanding how very special Koors was to her!
Didn't realize the air unit would give off so much heat. Does it run all day long?
Raining here, wind is strong, dark and gloomy so I'll be inside playing.
Right now I'm just being lazy. Lol. Couch called my name, if I don't get off it soon it will be like yesterday, I'll be copied up in a quilt, watching tv and dozing off..can't be doing that for 2 days in a row.
