good Mornin Y'All

can't believe I'm first to the summer place!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Likely "M" you've been to airport and back and now napping..will be a quiet day in your household, you'll feel lost. Lorna's parents are coming home to great weather.

Marion, have a photo to post for you, will try and get it on the thread this aft.

In the back riverbed/forest area I set an old door with birdhouses I made on it..well Missy is looking to entice a 'birdie' saying come and sit with me if you dare! bad girl

smallest of the ponds, look petty this morning, all it needs is fishies but nope, not going there, I get too sad when they die.

Tote bag Rita did yesterday, done with bright colors to be used as a diaper bag, her daughter says it's more for her than a diaper bag..

Finished a tote while playing with Rita and here sits the inner and outer pieces of the bag I'm changing to be a tote bag for Lorna to carry mega items..sure hope it works, if not I tried right?

my to do's for today, lets see how many I can accomplish

Home Depot for weed whack plastic cording
weeding
finish the Lorna's bag
do a trial run for the hypertufa draped containers

off to Midland and Timmies

You are indeed Thunder, come sit for a bit..know you are always on the go, time to take a day of rest...

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

I have been doing too much resting lately. Have not accomplished much of anything. behind on all of my quilt alongs, and behind where I want to be in making some things for the GD's. I hope to sew all day tomorrow.

getting ready to get out the door for work in just a few.

Y'All have a wonderful day ^_^

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Hope today is an easy one for you Thunder. And have all kinds of fun tomorrow.
Posted on the sewing tread that Brandon and Sean loved the things I made for their graduations. Party was great fun.
Restful day today. Maybe take a book and go sit by the lake.....

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Love all the bags, Betty! You're whipping them out fast as lightning now!

Great day to sit and read, Barb. Glad the kids liked your gifts.

Thunder, hope your work day speeds along and you'll soon be sewing to your heart's delight!

I'm off in a little while with the girls for some hosta garden tours. Low 80's expected today. Sounds like a good day to play!!

Lyndonville, NY

I did a Betty. Sat on the sofa at 7:00, slept til 10:00...straight up to bed and slept til 7:30 a.m. I was sooooo sore in my back. Did my exercises and about fell off the bed!!! LOL

Sun is shining, I have some plants to repot, so will get some fresh air until World cup game is on.

Betty, so happy this gentleman came to visit. Repaying your kindness, and maybe a new friend also with his wife. You are blessed.

Waving to all....have Izzy at my feet. She is sticking to me like tape!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Love the idea of the door! Humm, seems several of us have b/w kitties...mine can be a terror at times. Love her just the same. I might have to do some salvaging to see if I can locate an old door. I have one removed from the dungeon but it is a hollow door and one good rain and poof.

Waving to Thunder, miss seeing you post more but I do understand how busy life can get for us. My GDs have informed me they are way over due for some "grandma made" things. Now that my room is finished, maybe that will happen.

Barb so happy to hear the gifts were loved. Moving onto a new chapter now...why do they grow up so fast?

Well need to finish cleaning the floor in the dungeon in preparations to moving my sewing/craft things to their new home. Whoopee!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Sounds like you have another busy day as usual Betty. Can't wait to see how your draped pots turn out!

Marion, glad to hear your dungeon is finally finished!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

YAWNnnnnnnnnnnn .. sluggish day with dreary weather to go along with it ..
We were up @ 3:45am .. at the airport by 5am , Lorna's parents arrived in Toronto around 8am to bright sunny skies and WARM temps !!
We are all wearing track pants and sweatshirts, and, the furnace is coming on every now and then.

The visit was nice, and, her parents say they will be back in September, BUT, I found them to both be so frail this time .. perhaps when Lorna finishes work in Sept. we will drive down .. I keep saying that, but, it just never seems to happen .. travelling with her limitations requires serious thought .. ie .. stairs, bathrooms etc ..

Barb, so happy the Grands loved the gifts .. treasures for sure !!

Debbie, hope Izzy has a good day .. give her a pat from us ^_^

Joyce, I betcha the Hosta are gorgeous .. I know I am astounded by how well mine have done this year !

Marion .. enjoy your new sewing room ...

Betty .. Mike sounds a nice fella .. where is he from? I could look back, but woud likely lose this post .. lovely pic of the Terry Fox Monument.
OH MY .. the bags look fabulous!!!!

Guess I should strip the beds and start some laundry, can't hang anything outside :-(

Have a good one

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

"M" I want you to take a ride to visit Lorna's mom/dad that way we can visit.
Mike is from London, Ontario and yes we will stay in touch..

Started out great but a got sidetracked..Rita came, got her organized with baby quilt now she is on the hunt for fabric for border..went out and weeded, used up 1 tank of gas so thought ok, break time. Put on the fixings for spaghetti, was hungry for it so now no worries for tonight's din/din

Filled weeder up , ready to go another tanks worth and aunt Muriel dropped in for an hour..we sat outside then walked the back yard, she was impressed with all I've done, says its like being in a park, igh compliment coming from her.

I too Debbie have a pot to set somewhere..Walmart had red/white hanger baskets for Canada day so decided to buy one, myou must have needed the rest Debbie....izzy knows how worried you are and wants to stay close by..

LindaKay if people wouldn't keep visiting me maybe I'd get to try the drapped pot, likely I'll be making it right at mosquito time tonight.

Joyce, how did the tour go, any new garden art in them that struck your fancy?

Marion, you must be smilling from ear to ear being able to finally move in, got to lose the word dungeon now, find a new and brighter name..think I bought the door itsed at a reuse it center.

Need to work on a garden with shrubs on land above the gully the enhance it..do have the shrub I planted for tump by, it bloomed a few weeks ago

Losing my energy. Lol so can't sit here too much longer or that will be the end of my to do list.

wine tasting well....... Sue had to much to drink and was dirty dancing .... i was the only one dancing LOL.... oh well. It ended up to be a fun night.
even if i danced alone :)
busy day today sitting on the couch and watching movies

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sue I should have been there, always up dancing wether alone or with a partner..at least you enjoyed yourself? All that counts

Victoria Harbour, ON

Piecemealing my work schedule, all trimming is done, ditches look well manicured as does the entire yard..I'm pleased with that off my liston 'to do's!

Had a 2 hour nap this afternoon and thought I'd never get at it but I managed to push myself to get it done.

Greg is almost done withmy wheel barrel so I will wait till he brings it home to try container only because it will make mixing so much easier as is moving an 80lb bag of Portland cement to back shed..it will stay in my trunk until then

Thatbbeing said, leaves Lorna's bag, about 1/2 hr and it will be finished, bit of organizing in the craft room and we will call this weekend done.

Been thinking of Dianne, she hasn't been around of late, no storms looming so it should not be that, hoping she is not unwell.

Katie, big day tomorrow, you are off on your adventure..safe travels.

i will dance with you anytime Betty.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Safe travels Katie.
I would love to see Betty and Sue dancing around!!!!!

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Love the tote bags, Betty.

Had a nice Sunday visiting with my brother and his family. My nephew had maps and booklets from their trip to Colorado last year for me to see. I'm driving out there this weekend to drop off a dog with a handler/breeder. I'm staying a couple of days, just to make sure he settles in OK, so thought I'd do some sightseeing. He'll be out there for the summer, she'll show him, and she has a girl she wants to breed to him. If the breeding works, I'll get a puppy back! That would be exciting!

Now, I've got 4 days to figure out what I need and get things organized. Planning on leaving early morning on Friday, be back on July1.

Deb

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Mornin .. been up forever it seems ..

Good luck with your trip Deb, sounds fun .. how long will it take to get there, and, what breed of dog is goin along for the BIG ride ^_^
Hope the breeding takes, sometimes a toss up.

Sunny but cool (ish) here .. have to go for groceries .. SPARE ME !!!!!!!!

Happy trails to Katie too ..

Best get the dogs walked and DO something before I go ..

It's about 1000 miles, I figure I should be there by noon or so on Saturday.

It's one of my afghan hounds, Tyler, that's going. He has some points toward his championship title, so I'm hoping she can finish that, and get a good breeding. Her girl has had a litter before, I hope Tyler can figure out what part he's supposed to play! I really want a Tyler baby, and I really like the pedigree on her girl, so keeping my fingers crossed. It'll be hard leaving him so far away, but hopefully not for too long.

Deb

are the tote bags easy to make ? i m looking for somthing to make Toms mother. We are going to visit them in Nov. i would like to make her something.
I also thought of a table runner ?
got more rain last night. savannah came in to sleep with me LOL
we are off to the vet today. Lucy has an apt. Then the vet who helped us with our goat is going to let Savannah do an interview with him, she will do a report and a presentation for her 4 H club.
still seems a bit empty in our barn with no little boy goat around :(
have a good day everyone

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Beautiful morning out there..got to love summer!

Deb, I'm hoping you have someone travelling with you and sharing in the driving?
Your dogs are beautiful..Sharon leaves Inuk a lot of the time with her handler but she does spend a lot of time training and breeding. Time will go by quickly and hopefully you'll have a pup at the end of it.

"M" bet you are lonely already

mulege, Mexico

Good Morning,

Tony is here and I'm packing. I slept well and feel good to go. No passenger. Maria never heard back from her. I'm fine traveling alone. Just wish I could take one of the dogs with me but it gets too complicated. Not taking much with me; I have a ton of packages waiting for me in Chula Vista. Will add some building supplies if I have room.

No hurry; no big deals.

hugs, katie

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty did a very nice tutorial on making her tote bag. I think tote bags make great gifts, it's something you can always use. I have two very nice ones, both were gifts. LOL there again never made one for myself. When we travel to TN, we usually spend one night with family downstate, I like to pack enough for that night and the next day so I don't have to drag in my suitcase. The one Betty just gave me will be great for that as my other one is a bit small. They are great for air travel carry-ons too. You are only allowed one so I like to be able to fit in my purse plus travel necessities. Great also for carrying knitting or other hand work, or going to the beach. Do I have you convinced yet? LOL

Verona, ON

Safe travels Katie!

Sue and Betty I will dance with you anytime. I love to dance, albeit not well but it is still fun for me. I have some Zumba DVDs here that I need to break out and start doing every day.

Had my MRI last Wed so am waiting for the doc to call. Dealing with these dizzies is sucking the life right out of me.

I've been sort of hiding trying to deal with something that sort of shook me to the core. Not this weekend but the 1 before a 79 year old man went missing off of his boat while fishing down near Mosquito Creek. The OPP divers found him in the bay right at the southern edge of my property. The pups and I walk there every day but that Mon am I had the dizzies so they were only allowed in the area near the house. I knew the guy so am glad in a way that I didn't find him. At least he died doing what he loved best - he always said that's the way he wanted to go.

Glad the visit went well M.

The handyman finished up last Tues and I must say he did an excellent job with the gardens. He did lay down a layer of fresh cow manure which the dogs have delighted in eating . Ugh!!!

Deb safe travels with Tucker. I know how much you will miss your boy.

Barb I am so glad you enjoyed the grad party and the boys loved your presents. But wait.... why wouldn't they? They came from their beloved grandmother.

(((Debbie and Izzy))) Sending positive thoughts your way with hopes that the vet's new game plan will help our girl.

Need to lay down. Enjoy your day ladies.
Dianne

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Dianne, I hope the reports are good and they are able to find out the cause of the dizzies! They are real bummers......had them when I was dealing with my sister. Thankfully she is steadily improving and I am able to get on with the many unfinished projects I have here.

So sorry to hear about the man who drowned. That worries me about living on our lake....lots of elderly (80+) fishing....add the gators and it is bothersome.

Waving to everyone. Reading and seeing pictures of Betty's gardens puts me in the mood to work more outside. Now if I can only get ride of these pesky mosquitoes!!!!!!

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Travelling alone, except for Tyler, I prefer it that way. I absolutely hate being a passenger and I really really love driving, as long as I don't have to deal with city traffic!

Verona, ON

Oooops Deb now why did I think Tyler was named Tucker ? I can't even say he looked like a Tucker as I haven't seen a pic of him.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Quick trip to fabric store, bad enough I've a zillion patterns at home but bought a book and a pattern with great projects using scraps and do I have scraps lol.

Dianne, omg, how you must be feeling, furries must have known something was amiss, like you I'm so glad that you didn't find him but the knowing he was there is enough to make you sick. Poor gentleman, his family must be frantic.

I read in the Midland Times a young local boy from my town, think he's 17 went missing last week, don't know how families deal with such things.

Sure hope you get answers Dianne to the dizzies...are you eating properly??? know we who live alone tend not to.

What ever happened to your dear friend that dropped in after finding out her marriage wasn't the marriage she thought it to be..thought of her lately..hope they are giving it another chance.

Heading to Trenton this weekend, sounded like a plan two months ago but am not so thrilled about it now.

Marion, little bit of gardening at a time does it..love being outside in my own Garden of Eden..
Our mosquitos are still lingering, shouldn't be much longer though that they won't be as bad. Noticed I missed a few ant mounds when spraying on Saturday, must go out and spray again...do you also have an ant infestation..keep thinking how beautiful my peonies were this year..yep, kill all the ants and they will not be next year! can't win..

Karen thanks for telling Sue about the tutorial, will have to look on the thread and provide her with the link..and Sue, if you can straight stitch you can make one. Now there, maybe we should have a workshop at Joyce's in the fall, get the gals together and make one.

Katie, safe travels, Santa beard/wig should be waiting for you lol just in time for this Christmas right? so hoped you would be travelling with someone..

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Posted photo of Mondo bag on FB. Just had a niece, that I seldom see, say she loved it and wanted one. I told her OK go to fabric store, buy a jelly roll, fabric for lining and fusible fleece and I would make it for her. Not being generous perhaps but living on fixed income, I can't always afford the fabrics I want to sew with. I do give away what I make, but to those close to me, wish I could to all but just can't.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I find with using scraps and buying fabric on sale I can afford to do, what hampers a lot of giving is what Canada Post charges..yikes, a stamp is over $1.00 now.

Karen, I'm sure that when she looks at the cost of fabric/supplies she'll know you can't JUST make one..love the bag you made.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

My stash isn't all that big unless you count Christmas fabrics. I now have another niece requesting one, told her the same thing. It's much easier to make one from a jelly roll because you get nice co-ordinates but they are expensive. I could get the lining but there might be a fabric to match the jelly roll they want to use. I could also get the iron on fleece same as I get the iron on interfacing, by the bolt with a coupon.

I love my nieces as I do my grands and I have in the past made gifts for them, but sorry to say I have to set limits somewhere.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I have a big tote box full of precuts so will try to use them up..
It's not just the gabric it's how much thread, batting etc.

Aunt Muriel dropped in yesterday afternoon with fabric for 3 king size backings, she moved and wanted me to have her stash. Last year she gave me a quilt top that she made about 50 yrs ago, one she felt wasn't worth quilting, I will quilt it for her and give it to her as her Xmas gift.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Awwww that's going to be an awesome gift for her.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ohhhh, received the following d-mail

"I started this once and lost it all, lol. I will give a second try.
I have thought of you all so often and wanted to say Hello to you and everyone and hope this finds you all doing well and having a good spring and summer. I am fine and hanging in there.
The winter was so long and hard I couldn't get into the garden to clean it off and plant anything so won't have one this year. I have stuck a few things in a couple of flower beds as I clean them. It's okay, these guys don't eat a lot anyway so much goes to waste.
I am hopefully moving back to Fremont sometime. I will like to do it before the winter sets in so will keep fingers crossed. I don't think kids are too happy, but that's the way it goes. I want to be next to my siblings and friends. I am taking some computer classes to try to expand my knowledge which isn't much, but gives me something to do. I still belong to a quilt guild, but am limited in what I can do as I start something and have to put it away everyday, so that takes the fun out of it. Oh well, be thankful for what I can do.
Not a lot to report just wanted to let you know I think of you all and wish the best for you. Take care and please tell everyone HELLO for me. I still can't get the Best/Worse etc. to come up under discussion forum and the administrators don't seem to be able to help with the problem and have tried everything I know (which isn't much) lol. So if you will please tell them all hi I would appreciate it.
Hope you all have a great summer and God Bless and keep you all safe and healthy.
With Love
Shirley"

I've contacted dg to see if there is a reason she can't access. Ie maybe a user but not a member..will wait and see..tried to find out on the system but couldn't find her under "tsteeslink"

Was so nice to get an update

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Nice dmail ..
Don't know Shirley, for a moment I had her mixed up with 'Sharron' from Las Vegas as I haven't seen her post in a long while either.
At any rate, I hope Shirley can get to the bottom of her DG problems ..

Just now going through a bit of huge T&L storm with heavy rain .. I have sheets on the line :-(

That is so sweet of you to do that for you Aunt Muriel Betty .. I'm sure she'll be surprised.

Lorna is on her way home, cemeteries are NOT a good place to be in when it's lightening ..
