Went to the market with Rita and Ann then stopped over at Rita's, imagine, I had 2" of wine, just being social with the girls..anyway as to why I'm scratching my head, when I got home there was a call, said heis name was Mike, that he had stayed here in 2007 and said he would be in the area tomorrow afternoon and wondered if he could come over and have a visit with me..

Ok, those of you who have been on the thread for forever might remember that when Bernice across the street who ran a successful B&B would on occasion when she was full call and ask if I could put someone up.

This man, think he was n his 40's had bicycled 230 kl on his way to the Terry Fox memorial in Thunder Bay..seemed he had miscalculated his route and ended up in my small town, not having eaten lunch or supper...I said of course he could spend the night..asked where within walking distance could he find a place to eat..nowhere around here I said so I cooked a steak, home fries and veggies for him.

The next mornimg I was up at 4:30 as I had to drive to Toronto..tried not to make any noise so went downstairs until 6:00am...decided to cook him some muffins..omg forgot them n the oven and the alarm went off soooo up he got. I left for work, told him it wasn't necessary to leave at this time of the morning and off I went..

Was a month or so later I received a card thanking me for my kindness a d hospitality with an enclosed photo of his making the memorial.

Sooooo that was 7 years ago, I had given him a card with my name and number as he said if he ever knew anyone travelling in this area he would be sure to tell them about me.

Guess I'm wondering why would he want to come and visit me, his call was like I was a an old friend

Debbie I am soooo sorry about everything. Carrie's being very stupid and poor Izzy, I've been there too. I think of Tiny, Snowball, & Tiga all the time.

Yes seeing the countryside is good but it's no vacation. It's hard work and I'm not doing so great at it, which is not surprising.

I think my ex pulled yet another shenanigan. There was a bank account opened in my name & one $112.00 online purchase. I called the fraud dept. & I need to file a police report but they won't tell me where the purchase was made too & what date it was made, it was made sometime in April, the same time a $512 French Encyclopedia was purchased with my checking account. I don't think this was a real id theft criminal because there isn't enough charged, just enough to make a statement.

Got a few plants at the nursery and bought one hosta at the auction. I got Abba Dabba Do. Paid 15 for it, but it's a big one.

Debbie, my heart is breaking for you. I think your decision is a wise one. Hugs, my dear.

Izzy is home. She is one sick girl. I talked to the vet about if I was doing the right thing, or should I let her go across the bridge. She wants to try this next option.....and do a test, and will go from there.

She thinks it is either her thyroid....or some type auto-immune disease where her body is turning on her. She has two ear infections with bacteria infection in them.......her skin has a yeast infection with open wound, and that has a bacteria infection. Her leg, which she hurt 3 years ago....has swelling around the knee joint.

SO....she is home, medicated....and resting. Gave her a shot of steroids, antibiotics, and is looking into a "cook your own" dog food plan for me to see if it helps.

Sorry to hear about your ex opening an account in your name! Sure hope you can find out where it happened and prosecute him! Maybe it was his girlfriend doing it?
Debbie, sorry to hear about so many problems with Izzy! Sending prayers and ((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))) Don't let the vet take advantage of you just cause you have a sick dog!

Debbie, do you think a probiotic might help? I've found that both brewers' yeast and garlic seem to help when my animals are having problems like you describe.

I drove (!!!) to town and picked up the insurance papers so I have them in the car with all the other papers. Scout was the only dog who would jump in the car and I wasn't up to trying to coax any of the others so it was just us to town and then to the beach. Scout seemed very happy to go into the sea to cool off and drown any fleas that had dared to get on her.

Started this morning with a dog bite from Max. Two punctures in my right index finger. He bites from fear and I'm still learning what to watch out for. The worst cut is on the knuckle of my finger but it's stopped bleedingso I should be OK.

Maria stopped by. I may have a passenger on my trip. A local woman needs a ride to Ensenada and Monday would be perfect for her. I'm feeling yukky; Maria reminded that its' getting on the road that's the hard part. Once on my way things always get better. It's the preparations that are difficult. I woke up at 4:30 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep.

Think it's time for a pain killer and planning what I need to take with me on the trip.

I am kind of over whelmed with the number of new people in my life. I like it; they are all good people but it's a lot to deal with and I've learned hard to be causcous ( can't spell this morning) about over extending myself. Had a laugh with Maria about how she and Tony and I are all "go to" people. I'm glad we are connecting and watching out for each other. Maria will be backup for Tony while I'm gone.

Linda, I trust the vet. Have known her over 20 years....and she gives me prescriptions if it will be cheaper to get filled at human pharmacy. She really does look out for us on the cost issue. They had a new vet....who got reamed out by me...for taking advantage. Next visit I had a $120 credit on my account.

I guarantee, I will not let Izzy suffer....but she wanted to try this one thing, and see if Thyroid issue was the problem...possible auto immune reaction going on.

I pray the meds work!

Debbie, how is Izzy doing today? Sounds like there are so many illnesses within that it will be hard to find the underlying causes, if anybody can it will be you.

Katie, how wonderful you may have someone with you, company is always a plus while travelling. You just won't try to make it ling hours of driving this time I hope? Drats, you would think Max would know by now that he is safe with you..sometimes you never can change the bitting once it's ingrained in them.

LindaKay yes, likely so but it just seemed I did so little for him to remember me and go out of his way.

Just got back from town, glorious day out there..

Picked up Portland cement to try the drapped flower containers, some finger foods for my guest..
Went to 3 other places including a nursery and all either opened at 9am or 10 am..wasn't spending all my time sitting in town waiting so back home and will work outside till noon

Finally I remembered the mixed gas for weeder, now if I can get it going I will be in business.

Izzy is just resting, but if I get up....she goes out and follows me. She wants to play ball or frisbee so bad...but is a big NO WAY right now with her knee/leg.

I can't put her in the kennel because of skin infection....so, just going to be a day trip to Ohio. She is on 4 meds....and I have to give her a deer meat diet.....so that wont fly at the kennel either.

I did some plant therapy and went to the Green house. Going to put some hanging baskets up.

Can't be down when you hand flower baskets, nice thing to do on 1st day of summer..birds sure are chanting..took a picture in the forest area I put the door and birdhouses on, there sat Missy on a birdhouse likely saying, come close if you dare. Lol

I take it you are a gambler "M"..a challenge when you play with Lorna's dad..be Warry, you might be paying for his trip home. Lol. Guess they are anxious to get back home? Hoping you are having a fun day.

Rita just left, she made a tote bag she will give her daughter to use as a diaper bag, daughter picked the fabrics so I finished one I had started and 10 minutes away from finishing a second..actually one is for Lorna, I had made Mae Darlene's mom one and put handles on opposite the Orm and she absolutely loved it ..if you get a chance "M' can you measure width between handles for me.

Drats, everything they say can happen taking this particular bp med is happening..feet/ankles burning and swollen, look like tubes..say you can be flushed, check mark on that. One, blurred vision, check mark on that one as well..maybe he will change the med or give me a diuretic??

Greg came and got the weeder started for me, love using the weeder..he has men at his house taking down a shed so he told me to epwith until he's finished and do it..

I thought I would, did it for 5 minutes, ran out of plastic cord..none in back shed, he likely took it with him lol

Debbie, plain coconut oil might help with the rash. It for sure wouldn't hurt.

I'm having pre-trip antsiness. Will work in the garden for a bit and hope the water comes on so I can have a bath. In our hottest weather, the town turns the water off during most of the day. And I forgot to fill the tub last night.

Lorna's Dad is the card player, her Mom plays bridge (very well) .. I am NOT a card player .. I like to play for the pleasure and distraction, could give a tinker's dam if I won or lost LoL
All went well though, Lorna won one game and her Dad won one as well ..
The BDay cake was yummy, and everyone will have an early night for the 4am wake up ..

Hope Susan is doing OK .. has been lots of rain her way, and flooding, but, NOT in Calgary itself ...

Mike Henners visited as he said he would, what a wonderful man', I so enjoyed his visit and am privileged to listen to his voyage in finishing for himself the Terry Fox Run by bike..fit as a fiddle he is...3 hours went by as though it were but minutes.He said he was touched by my kindness..going to have to stop being so nice to strangers right?? Lol

We will keep in touch..said he just may bring his wife up for a weekend.
