Sending prayers Mary that business picks up more as the heat rises. That gelato should really taste great then!!!
Hope your wedding went well Betty. And that the bikers are safe.
Norm and I went to Brandon's HS graduation last night. It was held in a huge tent on the school grounds. There were only 86 in his class which made for a really nice size. Because I am on 02 constantly, we were able to be seated early before the rest of the crowd. We were able to save third row seats for his other grandparents, his uncle, his Mom and Dad and brother. We took up almost a whole row. One of the things that truly pleased me was that each graduate had red carnations (school color) and at one point in the evening all the graduates came out into the audience and presented them to whomever they wished. Brandon had five of them. One to Mom, one to each of his grandmothers, one to his teacher advisor and one to the woman who owns the stables where he has trained and worked for the last five years. She and her hubby have no children and think of Brandon as a grandson (due to the age difference). They established a scholarship for him for &1500.00 per year for as long as he is in school!!!! That is a huge amount for such a small business. Brandon now has THREE sets of grandparents...All this in the drizzle rain and temps that never went above 45.... I know I'll pay for being out like that for so long (three hours) but I would not have been anywhere else!
Best/Worse/What did I learn Today?Welcome Friends old/new
Barb, that was so sweet of him to give out the carnations! It was really nice of him to get the scholarship from them!
Awww Barb, sounds like a very nice ceremony. What a nice touch with the flowers. An extra scholarship, what a nice surprise. I've made all the graduations so far except for DGS from MSU. I was in hospital at the time. He did come to visit me right after in his cap and gown so I could see him. They are so good to me.
Barb, what a wonderful evening for all of you! Never hurts to have substitute grandparents, that is a substantial amount of $$$ given each year. Lucky young man!
Wedding was wonderful, guess who left her camera at the Tea House..luckily niece saw it and took it home, when they came to the celebration they changed vehicles so when I do get it back I shall post photo's..Kyle, Noah were at the function last night with their girlfriend, was nice to see them..when leaving Noah gave me the biggest hug and said he loved me.
Very cold today, took a quick ride into town, bought a beveled mirror for behind the door and more paint. Dianne and "M" feels like it could almost snow. Lol
BIL Robert mentioned last night that the canvas on his boat needed zipper repair, he just called and on his way, in exchange I will have him put the mirror up.
Rita's daughter will have her baby in a few weeks so Rita will come over tomorrow to sew a tote bag so it can be used as a bottle bag so I'll play with another as well, can always use extra's, never know when you will need one
Haven't forgotten Lorna's walker bag "M" , might play with it later
Other than that it will be a rest and play weekend
Brrrr it IS cold here too. From short and tee to jeans and a hoodie today. W Liars say chance of rain this afternoon and my body sure feels like it.
M how exciting for Lorna to get her first pay check!!!! Please tell her I am every excited for her and know that she earned every cent of it..
What a lovely touch the roses were at the grad ceremony Barb. Your heart must have been bursting with pride
Mary what a lovely compliment about your flowers. I so understand about the lack of funds to buy flowers.... once early on in the business Warren said don't pack a lunch or drinks today we will buy it. I looked at him like he had 3 heads and said in my quietest voice "And with what will you pay for these items with?" His answer "well from the till". He never suggested that again....lol
Karen of course your grandkids are good to you ... good things happen to good people. I truly wish all children could have grandparents like you and everyone else on this thread.
LK how has your back been lately? So glad you had a good time on your getaway.
I as trying to take some pics of my gorgeous Iris bed this morning before they all die off and Duke kept photo bombing the shots. I have enough problems taking pics with my phone as it is without Sir Duke complicating things.
Need to think of something to eat for breakfast/lunch that appeals to me. Can't think of a thing, not even my go to grilled cheese is appealing.
Dianne
I'm thinking I would love to see Duke...and the flowers.
Having a bit of left over tuna-mac.
Our growing up years weren't horrid, but hubby and I both got lessons in what we would and wouldn't do with ours. Mainly they would never doubt they were loved, because they would be told as well as shown. Never take it for granted that people know you love them....tell them.
Barb, Brandon's grad sounds wonderful despite the inclement weather, and, the giving of carnations is a great tributr, not to mention the scholarship!!
BRAVO, I wish him all the best ..
Mary, I can imagine the flowers looked great .. hope you enjoyed your visit ..
Dianne, it's cool here too .. was in town by 7:45am for the Market, then all the visitors shopping, was pooped when we got home !
Lorna is still cleaning and RE cleaning, I USED to give her hck about it, but just look the other way now .. the house is clean, and, that's all that matters, with 2 puppers running in and out, there is bound to be 'stuff' floating around, add to that a cat with NO manners, and, well, you have a home ruled by fur !!
Right now I'd like a nap, but, I have a few more shores to get out of the way ..
Toodles
~M~
Mary, think I mentioned it before, while travelling we stopped into this small town McDonald's and there were tablecloths and fresh flowers on the table, I was sooo impressed. It's the homey tings that stick with customers.
Karen, do the same, never miss a visit I don't say I love you..even Noah one day I said lice you Noah but today I don't like you...
"M" our market opened yesterday, but with the wedding I didn't make it..this morning though the main street in Midland was closed for Buttertart day..had to be 100 vendors..I was on a mission so didn't go..likely saved myself some $$$. Guess everyone had their own way of cleaning, you just got to say 'go for it'. My BIL today asked if anyone lived here so that's a good sign..he asked before he went into my craft room or he'd not have done.
Katie, thinking of all your troubles, sure hope a better week is ahead!
Debbie, we need to know you are ok, if you are lurking a simple 'hi' would suffice.
Bev tink Debbie needs a pretty photo to make her smile.
Dianne, be nice if we saw photo's and gardens and of furries
Finished the bimity (?) top for Robert..he was more than impressed..Was glad it wasn't zippers..all seams were undone, sewed a d re-sewed then the edging was done with black plastic type fabric, half missing so I put him to work, he took the remainder off wile I took strips of the canvas I recovered his Cain sleeper cushionsm made binding and went all around his blue ontop..looked great..then he said he needed a piece to cover where the life preservers go but forgot measurement, sent him home to get them, made the piece n record time, so laughed, it was double, I put good sides together and sewed leaving area to turn inside out, he didn't see me do that so he kept saying, won't work , won't work, see the seams..he was impressed when I turned right inside out sewed around it..lol
Wanted to pay me, I said I'd be insulted but I wouldn't mind the new bevel door mirror installed, he did it, then while talking I mentioned my metal platform we put our suitcases on for travelling need a piece on hitch portion soldered to make it higher, he took that with him, going to do it and he brought in a gift bag, he had stopped off when getting measurement into a ladies boutique and bought me a lovely top soooo all worked out well, he is happy, I'm happy, all is well in our world
ooops HAD forgotten I put chicken boiling for chicken and dumplings, was almost boil out, thankfully all ok, was looking forward to tummy warming meal tonight.
Bite to eat then might throw on a jacket and cut grass
I am so proud of Duke my buttons are popping. He just followed me around while I was vacuuming and even put his paw on the machine itself. This from the little boy who was so scared when he first came that I had to put him in the truck while I vacuumed.
M my mam always used to say there was 'clean' dirt and there was 'dirty' dirt and as long as it was 'clean' dirt we were OK. lol That has stuck with me all these years.
Still haven't fed myself although chicken and dumplings sounds good Betty.Better scope ouot the freezer for something.
Dianne
Dianne, my back is doing OK! I have some good days between the bad ones!
Glad to her Duke is doing better!
Means Duke totally trust you Dianne! Warms the heart when we think of sayings our loved ones would use.
Go for chican and dumplings (slidders..I took easy way seeing there is just me and used lasagna noodles.
Did not cut grass, covered myself with a quilt, snuggled in and slept..tired
Blood pressure was 158.. Comming down
It is blazing hot here. Maria visited this morning. It was nice as I'd had nightmares last night and was in lots of pain this morning. Her husband sent his thanks -again - for the long-sleeved t-shirts I gave him. He's a fisherman and the sun is very hot on the sea. I was pleased to tell her that I had won an auction for 20 more - all bright yellow - on ebay and he can pay me in his or even fish scraps (for compost) as I got them for just over $2 each. He and his coworkers can all dress alike!
Max has taken to jumping up on the bed and playing kissy-face with me. Like Duke, it's wonderful to see him overcome his fears.
I'm engaged in getting the hook-up for my puter in the back bedroom. Maria told me that someone took the puter which wasn't working in for repair and was told sorry, the plastic parts have melted - puter is dead.
The back bedroom is the most secure so having the puter there while I'm gone will be fine. Assuming I am ever able to get away. I will be able to have my tv there, too, and a sewing machine and cutting table and an air mattress on the floor.
Time for poker soon. Meanwhhile - laundry and electronics.
hugs, katie
I am here. Spent the day out with my camera, took pictures of the swan family with new babies, a car show....and some pretty flowers.
It was relaxing.
I have no seen or heard from any family members so, no news there at all.
Was quite chilly today...had to wear a jacket while out....but I did manage to eat ice cream
while freezing. lol
You love photography/nature Debbie so that makes for a relaxing day..is Shannon not living at home?? Car show? Means just you and Paul unless you have borders, know you are always helping a youth having problems.
Been thinking of you a lot, worries me you are alone..sure wish I could have gone to states and met with you last weekend.
Been watching show called the Sixties..
All about Kennedy's assassination /warren report etc...seeing I'm in Dallas next month will be sure to go where it happend.
Beautiful pictures Debbie!
Oh my swans and Peonies, two of natures prettiest creations. We do have swans up here even on our lake on occasion. I had to leave all my peonies behind. Always enjoy seeing photos of them.
Took the kids to a near by park and when they had tired of swings & slides we walked a path in the woods for a while. I found some Tea Berry and broke them each a leaf to smell. I can never resist a leaf when I find it. Remember Tea Berry gum?
Hello All ;
Warms my heart to see Duke and Max recovering from their unfortunate circumstances....
Barb what a wonderful celebration.... scholarship and the carnation was a plus.
Betty glad to see Noah moving forward. Yes - I agree....the flowers on the table are important. So glad I had yours to put there...and they are SO gorgeous... no wonder the young lady questioned that they were fake.... Will try to take a pic tomorrow.
I think they are called "Black Eyed Susans" ? But I have seen so many different pictures for this description.
Love the "Clean Dirt via otherwise" Dianne.... we still have Christmas decorations not put up ! Choose your battles Mom used to say.
Waving Marilyn and Karen....
Dianne love that story.... we have NO money.... Grrr... .Hubs just doesn't understand . I am keeping the books and he doesn't realize how strapped we are. I have learned last payroll (Tuesday) that we can't and shouldn't have been paying him this whole time. ($600 per week)
Maybe that will open up his eyes.
We had an okay day today. We hosted our first birthday party .... 3 yr old.... it was an Elsa/Frozen/Disney party and a rainstorm hit right as it began so I suppose it brought business when we would not have normally had any .
Hugs to all
Mary
Guess I should not have taken that afternoon nap, wide awake since midnight.
Debbie, heart aches for you..surely the girls will come today but seeing how downright nasty they have been its doubtful but am praying they do..would be nive for you to visit with that precious grandson. Love the photo's..will have to purchase. A white peony, they are breathtaking as are the swans..we do have them on the bay here, Rita assays she sees them in h cove.
Speaking of Rita, she says she is having difficult days now that she has moved out, says she tells herself she must stay where she is and can't move back here..think she finds herself all alone and it's overwhelming.she will have her 2 granddaughters for most of summer , let's hope that helps.
Karen, what a pleasant afternoon you had, am sure you and the kids are sleeping soundly.
Mary I'm sure they are tickseed, ( coreopsis ) at least that is what I think I gave you.
That is a healthy wage when just starting out in business but one does have to earn a living..would love to see photos of the shop

Good morning and sending Happy Father's Day wishes to all of your hubbies.
We are off shortly to a ball game but wanted to get that posted!! Hope today is great.~~~~~~
Happy Father's Day from me as well ..
Off and running, plane arrives at1020 and we have a couple of stops first ..
HUGSSSSSssssssssssssssssssssss
~M~
Happy fathers day as well, may they be spoilt.
Will be a busy day for you all
Good morning and Happy Fathers Day from me too!
I always smile when I hear something about tea berry gum. My dad and I teased we were going to do the "tea berry shuffle" down the aisle when I got married the first time. Not until right now did I know there was a tea berry bush or tree, so thanks, Karen! That was my "learned" for today!!
I have seen them Karen, just didn't know what they were
Joyce, is is winter in your neck of the woods? Was wondering why I was frozen, only 64 in the house brrr. Turned up furnace, it's colder because of dampness I'm sure.
Rita says she missed cooking big Sunday morning brunch, we've been working on totes, she brought all the fixings for breakfast then back to sewing
Been a fun weekend..pressure this a.m. Was 154
When you see one Betty, just pick a leaf and break it. One delicious sniff will confirm the identity.
I will do that Karen
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fk11Acjofu8&feature=kp
Here ya go Joyce! :)
Omg I do remember that..lol
Thanks for sharing!
Rita is left, she is half way through her tote bag and I finished mine but then she cooked breakfast and when Ann dropped in she went out to back shed to look for child and adult adirondack chairs so Ann can paint a design on them
A man about our ahem, always giving to the community had his house condemned so township is doing a silent auction and dance to raise $$$ ..many contractors offered to build, do hydro, plumbing etc so the fundraiser will be for materials needed. The chairs Ann will paint will be put in the silent auction so I gave her a tote bag for the same.Rita gave $$$
Was just thinking, doesn't feel like Fathers day here,
Roger died, we always celebrated with the boys, I always went in to see my Father in the afternoon, Jim in the morning..all gone, kind of said
So I'm no further ahead, made a bag, gave a bag. Lol
As I'm cleaning up fabric from this bag I will see if I've enough to make up a kit with scraps

Re the commercial, just remember the music ^_^
BOY o BOY are we experiencing COLD temps, massive rain and mega wind, thunder and lightning!
Lorna's folks arrived at 1015 (tailwind), they look fabulous .. so happy to see them looking so well ..
Came home to a house full .. Murray and fam had come out for Fathers Day, thank heaven I bought a large enough meat and cheese tray !!
It was a nice time, but, by 2pm I could see Lorna's parnets fading a bit .. so, off we went ..
They are now secure and firmly ensconced in their room .. probably sleeping as they have been up since 4am.
We're waiting for another wave of bad weather ...
Mary .. how did the first BDay party go? 3 year olds are a handful !!
Katie, best of luck with the car .. I'd be rippin my hair out jumping through all those hoops..
We'll be having SAMMIES for supper .. why not ..
Tomorrow the holiday begins in ernest ..
CIAO
~M~
Cold/windy here as well "M" guess we are expecting too much too early, is mid June.
That would be quite the trip for them, bet lots of excitement between Lorna and her parents gabbing about the new job..hard when they live so far apart during their aging years..
Enjoy the week, you will be one tired lady!
Very windy here but warm got up to nearly 80, think it's gonna rain this evening.
Sunny but cool here.
The lake is a mess around my dock. The pollen is so bad it has collected on the surface and looks like scum. Yuck! You sure wouldn't want to go swimming. A good rain will take it away.
Hope everyone is enjoying a relaxing day.
Dianne
Still haven't talked myself into cutting the lawn, playing at sewing and sitting and resting, have leftovers from yesterday so don't even have to cook..now that is lazy!!!
Trees are swaying back and forth, sure need a coat, envy you your high temps Karen.
Dianne do you have a lot of oak around the shore land? Couldn't believe the leaf casings on front deck, 1/2 garbage bag worth.
There will no swimming in Georgian Bay for quite some time, at least not me having a swim.
Calling for rain monday and Tuesday , hope they keep the sunshine for the weekend.
Are duke and diesel out playing, would imagine they like cooler temps
Lazy Father's Day at this house...rainy and perfect for curling up and reading a book. Nope, not doing that. Took flowers to the cemetery and Kim is preparing her dad's favorite meal.
Dianne, yes I am home and unless there happens to be something really drastic happen with my sister....I will stay home. She is doing extremely well (Thank you God) and has starting getting out volunteering. Still some recovery needed but atleast I am able to return to the many projects here.
Our lake looked much like you describe your lake looking. Pollen turned the entire surface greenish/yellow and so nasty looking. Of course, there is no swimming in our lake, only boating. It is man made and close to other rivers and streams so we are constantly being visited by alligators. One had to be removed this past week. Some of the residents think it is cute to feed them marshmellows of all things. The gators get so used to humans feeding them that they become nuisance animals and then removal.
Kim is calling me to dinner so guess I will run.....................
Pollen yuckies here too. Everything on the deck is covered with the yellow powder, and of course the lake too. I've never had a problem with allergies but I do notice I'm sneezing several times a day.
The rain finally came, and now it is dead still. the wind has completely died. temp has dropped about 12 degrees.
Marion, thank the Lord is right, sue is heading in the right direction, volunteering, meeting new friends, getting out has been quite a step for her to take..so glad you are able to spend some much deserved time at home. Not so sure I'd like an alligator in my back yard but guess you get used to it.
Karen that is great temps seeing you are that far north.
Been quiet here although Roger's brother and wife just dropped in for a bit, they'd been to Rama for Father's day buffet and show then a bit of gambling..here they were dressed up to a t and me still in my Jammie's..
I am about 1/2 hr from finishing another tote bag, started to put fabric away and thought
Why not, beats cutting grass lol..not so sure I'll go back downstairs and finish my project, always tomorrow morning, besides haven't had supper and I really should.
This message was edited Jun 16, 2014 5:07 AM
Morning all,
Lots of boom bang going on out there, listening to the rain, feel so cozy that I'm tempted not to get out of bed!
Hope you all have better weather than I.
So how was your weekend, did it tire you out, and the gardens, would you say you say they are at start, mid or end of prime ?
I did go downstairs last night and finished 2nd tote so feel I got ahead..even earmarked it for someone.
Think it's get up and have coffee and toast
Pollen is a BIG deal here too .. hopefully with all the rain we got yesterday and the wind, it'll be gone, or, partially gone ..
47F right now, but, sunny .. I see something has knocked over the birdbath .. so, will wait for a wee bit before I head out to feed the Blue Jays.
Not sure what today will bring, have supper all figured out and will have it made and ready to pop into the oven when needed .. am hoping Lorna's parents will want to go OUT for lunch ..
Kinda puzzled this morning as I rec'd 2 acceptance requests from people I know (but not well) saying they are accepting my FRIEND request on FBook ..
I 'de friended' them as I never did request.
Strange, but, you can't be too careful
Best get at it .. hope y'all have a great day ^_^
TOODLES
~M~
we had a wonderful Fathers Day here!!
greatest words I have ever heard " Happy Fathers Day PE PE !!!" on skype so glad they waited till I got home from work. Dil had called early and asked what time would be good to skype? hubs told her after 5pm :)
all the boys called, yes even the soldier!! and it was a very good connection, so we could hear each other very well!!
I am making him something, not finished yet. Thought of giving it to him anyways, changed my mind. He will get it when it is done. Seems I am behind on everything lately....
Hope Y'all have a great day today. Hugs to Y'all ♥♥♥♥ extra for Debbie♥♥♥♥♥♥
