Moved us over into a room, sunshine galore here this morning
Coffee is made, sweets waiting to be eaten and good friends to chat with..
We came from here
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1361075/#new
LindaKay, likely allergies although I've never had them before..feeling o.k. This mornimg
Here is hoping yours clear up after your hot shower..
What plans do you have for the day?
Noah is 16.. At the age of knowing it all
Late last night Jeff emailed me to say he is leaving for NYC for a bit, work related so wanted to meet up with me, I emailed back that I could meet him 1/2 way, Barrie and do brunch..haven't heard from him yet.
Fire burning in the pit, picked a few weeds as I walked the gardens, see some branches that have to be cut, wondering if no leaves this year are they likely to have next or can I cut them.
If I do meet up with Jeff I will go to garden gallery and buy a few replacement shrubs and Perrenials.
Other than that, it will be a lazy day.

Best/Worse/What did I learn today!chat with friends old/new
Karen, loved the photo..so wish more would get back to good old fashion weddings as they are more enjoyable and less stressful. Do relax today and enoy time with everyone. How long will you be staying south?
As fir weddings, suzanne is finding the same in the planning of her daughter's wedding, people just don't reply, she has called some she thought would come and the answer " well we just thought you would npknow we wouldn't miss it. Hard to get final count re food..
My thought is at the table next to the name of those who did reply are dinner tickets, if there is extra food then those who just show up without reply may have eats..tacky I know ut Lordy at the price of each plate you can't order an extra 50
So true!
Hope things work out with Noah. Tough love, for sure!
Off to a garden tour today! Yay! 😃
Enjoy Joyce!! You will come back I'm sure with a zillion ideas.
Jeff just called, meeting in Barrie, best I get a move on
Debbie .. so happy to hear you saw you grandson ^_^
Hoping things will get better for you .. wear a smile .. tough, but needed.
Lovely pic Karen, love the colour of blue .. glad things went well ..
LindaK and Betty .. I am POSITIVE the pollen is to blame for all the itchy eyes and runny noses .. I don't suffer from allergies, but, this year I sure am !!!
BDay party was wonderful .. home way too late (for me) LoL
Have a couple of pics, as well as a pic or 2 of the garden ..
Raining here .. might clear a bit later ..
Have a great day everyone
~M~
Have a safe trip Betty.
Hot shower felt good, but eye is still swollen! I have taken a claritin-D, hoping that will help!
Karen, glad to hear the wedding was good! Love that picture!
"M", love your birthday pictures! hat is yukon gold? Those pansies are beautiful!
Debbie, so glad we went to see your Grandson! Wish you could sneak in a picture, but I understand her wishes.
Afternoon all,
Lordy half the day is gone
Had a nice visit with Jeff, did the nursery, still can't believe annuals are $2.99
Flowers for the 2 railing flower holders and I shrub and there went $100
Did buy 4 tomatoe plants, thought I might plant them in the back 40 and see if I can get a few.
Hot today so got the plants in their container..doesn't look like much but if I remember to water them they should fill out nicely.
No sooner Greg dropped in, borrowed my wheel barrel, he is demolishing the back shed..needed something to tote shingles..he said he has had a terrible week, everything overwhelming for him. Too much work he says..while doing part of the shed he is opening the pool, checking ot tub levels and in the middle of this he says Melanie wants all her lawn furniture from storage..said he just cant understand it..was babbling to himself when he left lol
Great pictures "M". Now I don't see you or DIL in the photo's..does look like fun was had by all.
Is the Clariitin-D working LindaKay.
Still haven't done the trimming but too hot right now, will wait for a it.
As I'm typing my head is nodding..just know I will doze off if I make myself anymore comfy so I'd better go plant the shrub I bought.
Claritin is working a little, I might take another one!
does it make you drowsy??
love getting new plants, just wish they were perrenials vs annuals..seems like a lot of $$$ wasted.
Joyce, following your lead and doing a few hypertufa containers, this one also survived the winter.
I received in the birdfeeder swap as one of my gifts this beautiful sunflower, is a feeder but seeing the birds were pulling the coir apart in my planters I bought one and pulled it apart so birdies can pull from it for nests
the side entrance into the secret garden is filling in, just wish that the vines would cover the arches...few more weeks I guess
my new shrub
forgot the planter I painted about 10 years ago needs plant..maybe tomorrow
not only was winter hard on the shrubs, most of my mock orange have been eaten, must make a batch of soapy water and spray the leaves, they tend to leave them alone at least until a rain then must be done again.
As always love the flower/gardening pics ..
I have one more to post .. it's one of the perennial beds, you can see how far behind we are here !!
Seems I was the ONLY one taking pics last night .. I did manage to find 2 with Alison in it .. of course, she was sitting with HER Mom and sister and chit chatting away between themselves .. drives me bugs !
I had Ausitn and Lorna to keep me company .. all in all it was a nice evening, even the dogs behaved LoL
Hope all you allergy sufferers get some relief .. the rain is helping with the pollen here.
OOOOoooo .. made my first rhubarb pie of the year .. new recipe ..
Some pics attached ^_^
~M~
First pic ... Alison (DinL) in blue, her Mom and her sister
second pic .. Austin, Murray and Alison
third.. PIE :-)
Fourth .. Smokey and Lilly just a few minutes ago ..
Love the pictures, Betty and Marilynne!
Betty if you're getting 4 inch annuals for $2.99, count your lucky stars! Cheapest I've found them is $3.69 and the most is $5.99. Most are $5.29. So I think $2.99 sounds great!!
I bought another woodland peony today. The first one I bought was &45.00. That was last year and I got one bloom on it this year. It's pink. The second one I got last year was a baby, it didn't bloom this year (creeping) and it's white. I paid $15.00 for that one. Today I bought a third one. Bigger than last year's baby, but not big. It's pink and I got it for $10. I'm happy!
I'm pooped and Bill wants taco salad for dinner and I have to plant corn tonight. It's supposed to rain tomorrow. Aw well, such is life. (I wanted to say that in French, but didn't know how to spell it!)
Little Annie at her first a Steak and Shake trip.
Emma doing well after her hospital stay.
The graduate, Luke at his open house.
You are heavy with peonies this year Joyce..I looked at the nursery for tree peony but no go..says rarely do they get them in.was Emma in the hospital? She she contract that flu going around.
Lovely family Joyce..how was the garden tour.
I posted earlier "M" not sure where it went, I was looking for not only a piece of pie but wanted you to save me seconds, that with ice cream..what I wouldn't give for a sweet treat.
Aunt Muriel called me, has all kinds of thread and fabric, would I come get it..same time I came home with car full of plants..couldn't let them sit overnight so planted them as soon as I got home..what a job
Plum tuckered out.
Going to have a bath and if I can, will go bring in bags of fabric
Great photos - "M" - it looks like it was a fun party!
Joyce - Beautiful family photos. So glad to read that Emma is doing well.
We went to Sean's game today and they won easily. Norm hit the nail on the head when he said the other team didn't seem to have any spirit - no sense of urgency to make a play. That's too bad as they won't learn anything that way. I think that is a coach's fault.
Got some more of the binding done on B's quilt. My hands only let me do a thread full or two before they tell me that is enough for now. Good thing I have some time eh???
They admitted Emma on Thursday with a staph infection. They treated her for Mersa. Scary stuff.
It's storming here. Yay! I love a good storm and we need the rain badly.
Did 7 gardens and lunch at Uno's. Fun time. Two really outstanding gardens. One lady is 80 and does it all herself. She's a better woman than me!! She paints as well. Beautiful garden pictures.
I'm hoping it rains all night and stops in the morning. I just got finished planting 6 rows do sweet corn. Sure hope it does good this year. I'm planting a new kind. It's Honey Select. Sure hope it's good. I usually plant How Sweet It Is, but I couldn't find it anywhere this year.
I'm on the couch watching the tube. Nice way to relax after a long day. Shower felt really good after planting in that dry veggie garden!
Hope you all had a nice day. Thanks for the comments on the family. I sure am proud of them all!
Morning all,
so Joyce what great idea came out of your garden tour??? know your brain was working overtime, could hear the wheels going from here..please share!
watered the plants I planted last night, they seem to be doing well
will be going over to Aunt Muriels again tonight for more.
feels like rain, wish it would as gardens are so dry but sun is coming out.
Major rains here, Lorna is pacing waiting to leave for her first day back at work, and, I think they may send her home due to the rain .. or .. give her the company credit card and send her to one of the local nurseries for the flowers ..
Enjoy all the pics ..
Joyce I sure hope Emma is feeling better. poor kid ..
Best go and help Lorna avoid MUD .. sure is green out there, but SO WET!!!
Toodles
~M~
Ah, sweet, sweet rain! We so needed this. I got 1 1/4 inches of rain overnight and we've had a couple showers this morning. I'm sitting on the porch enjoying my coffee and IPAD! I already walked the garden.
Betty, really the only thing that hit me yesterday is that I needed to get home, get my Spring bulb foliage down and mulch! (That is after I get rid of the weeds!)
Tomorrow is garden club at Joan's in Hamilton. You remember Betty, it's where you got your rusty basket! The ladies are meeting here so we can car pool. Our gas went up to $3.99 a gallon the other day. Yuk! At our exit it has dropped to 3.89, but still! Give me a break!!
Joyce .. our gas is at 6.62 /gal ( our gallons are bigger) .. at the Reserve you pay $5.08 ..
6 of your galllons equals 5 of ours.
DH just spewed all that out as I sat here LoL
Lorna is home .. no work to be done in the pouring rain .. but, the time she was there she liked what she saw as far as the fellas she will be working with, all very nice ^_^
Man o man .. we are getting WAY too much rain, incredible ..it was 2 years ago we had the huge flood here .. lost roads etc .. Gord says the ditches are flowing along perfectly right now .. they were all repaired after the flood.
Best DO something ..
~M~
No rain here, wish there was! Ahhh bet Lorna was anxious to put in a full day.
Yes, we pay far too much for gas
If I were closer to USA border thinking I'd be gasping up there
Did I ask for rain?? Sure getting it now..just got back from aunt Muriel's, dug up a large climatic, not sure they like being dug up this late in the season but this rain that started minutes after I planted it surely will help.
Kow peonies don't like to be uprooted byt sure would like to try digging hers up, was wondering if it wasn't a tree peony..Joyce is there a way of telling?
Jason was suppose to be here, not here yet, drats, I'm not patient, but, this project has been ongoing now for 3 weeks or more, shaking my head, it's enough not to be patient.
Talked to Darlene for an hour this afternoon, her mom is at the very end and although she wants no blood transfusion, no meds something in her must be wanting to fight. So hard on Darlene, basically she will have lost her entire family in a few years.
Wow, just looked outside and am paying attention, tree leaf growth has tripped it seems today, can't see the other side of the street..love it when it looks as though I'm in the middle of nowhere from all the tree growth.
Kyle dropped n this afternoon, he'd been to Cookstown, south of Barrie and managed to find 2 doors for his car, dropped them off at far dealership them for painting, not putting it through insurance, Greg is footing the bill, there goes his allowance for the next month. Lol
Yikes, I set a/c at 65' too cold so I put 70 that should be about right..
Yes, Betty, there is a way to tell about the peonies.
The tree peonies are taller and their leaves are dull and shaped a little different than regular peonies. See pictures one and three. The regular peony leaves are kind of shiny and the plant is generally smaller than a tree one. See pictures two and four.
Thanks Joyce, now that will be my ' learn' of the day!
I will drop in tomorrow or Wednesday and look..now that I see you photo's am sure the are not tree peonies.
Talk about a storm
Jason is heren ran into a few hiccups with support of slate top but says not to worry. I was all excited to show him new doors, he smiled and asked if I measured the 3 doors, drats who puts 3 cabinet doors on a cupboard not same.
2-13" wide
1-12" wide
Grrrrr
Morning all
Nauseated since before dawn, took gravol..think I'll play lazy today and get comfy on the couch...girls come today, I will go downstaitprs, see what they are up to then back to lay down.
Weather is uncertain, quite the storm last night, looks as though we could get another today..ok with me, gardens are now watered and hopefully parts of the lawn that were dried out will start to turn green.
Watching Tuskegee Airmen, seen it several times but it's good so I keep watching whenever on.
3 squirrels peering in looking for peanuts and eats, guess I'd best feed them then make myself a coffee and snuggle in
Sorry you are not up to par this morning Betty. Sometimes we just need a "do nothing" day. Today it's back to the blocks.
Yesterday I started out just fine and then remembered Norm had a package coming by UPS. They have to be buzzed into the building and I can't hear it when I'm in the quilt room so it was back to knitting in the other room. He didn't show up until after 2 pm and I sure wish I had known he was going to be that late. Anyway - I got another mitten made for the charity project so the time wasn't wasted.
48F and, you guessed it, more rain !
Lorna just left for work, doubtless she'll be home in a couple of hours ..
The weather has my bones groaning, that's for sure .. the furnace has been coming on since about 4am.
Not sure what's in store for the day .. perhaps nothing (that'd be OK with me)
Take care everyone
~M~
Sure hope the gravol works quickly for you Betty! Are you still working from home?
Barb, do you use circular knitting needles when making mittens? My cousin years ago used them, sometimes she used 3 needles at once. Sure wish I wold have learned more about knitting and crochet.
"M", sure hope it warms u p for you today!
Dianne, how are you feeling today? Those dizzies go away?
Katie, are you and Tony feeling better?
No not working from home, just cover when need be and am liking it.
Haven't knit for a bit, did find when I was in search of something 2 sets of knitted sleeves, collar and waiste pieces for quilted jackets..should make them up, been so long that I'm not sure I know how.
Sun coming out, not sure what today's temp will be but know it will be a lot hotter than m' s
Hot for you LindaKay?
See the girls are arriving, best I go say hello
Yep, another hot one today! Already 75, supposed to be at least 100 today!
Anyone heard from Debbie? I don't see her on Facebook anymore!
77 here supposed to hit 90. a good day to stay in and sew.
I am stitching RWB.
big sigh
just when she needs us she's up and given up on us..drats and more drats
miss her and Mary..
girls all have marvellous projects they are doing
I'm back upstairs laying down, told them to call me when they have lunch
I've been up - more or less - since 4am with really bad pain. Just took a third pain killer - that's my limit. Feeling better. Tony is doing the car registration and Maria will take me to the local doctor this afternoon. She also had Tony turn the ac on as it is really hot and humid.
Thanks God for my friends and all the help.
I am NOT depressed. One nice side benefit of the pain killers which are finally working. Worst pain I've had in a long time.
I see Debbie on another thread. She has seen the baby. Sending big hugs and mushy love.
hugs. katie
Good to hear you'll see a doc Katie, and, won't you be happy to get all this car business behind you!
Hope your feeling a bit better Betty, do you still have the rain?
Ours has stopped, but still in the high 50s ..
Went shopping .. NEVER let me go into the KEURIG coffee shop ALONE !!! Got 48 KCups for $40. DH thought I had lost my mind .. I don't do flavoured coffee, but all the other 'morning brands' are so good ..
Have some pics to share, one of my multicoloured Pansie Pots, and 2 of the dogs .. the one of Lilly was taken after she rolled her beautiful white coat in GREEN GRASS freshly cut .. I wish it has shown up better, Piper did as well but not as much ..
Putzing around .. have spoken with Lorna, and took the puppers to see her for a sec .. she's doing well and the company is so happy to have her back ..
My FBook page is under Marilyn Elvish-Stephenson
If you want to be a friend just make sure you let me know who ya are LoL
Best get on with my day ..
HUGS
~M~
The pups are a riot and the pansies are stunning!! Do they do that often? And how do you get the grass stain out????
Taking a break for a few. Got two more blocks done this morning and now I'm off for a bite of lunch....
Yep Barb, as soon as DH or myself mow the compound, Lilly races out the back door to roll in the grass!! We had just had them groomed a week before and I just missed grabbing her as she BOLTED FOR FREEDOM hahahah .. not as fast as I was with this new hip ! YET!
The grass stain just eventually disappears, probably on our bedding ^_^
The blocks must take a fair piece of time to complete, I have seen some pretty intricate ones here at country fairs. Can hardly wait to see a pic of the completed work ..
Gonna try a walk about outside .. wearing a jacket no less ..
~M~
Why can't I have my pansies look like those?
Aren't those pansies beautiful Marion? I love them - were my Gram's favorites....
Evening all,
Katie, how did you make out at the doctors? Glad you have a/c..mine is on, haven't been outside today but the girls say its hot & humid.
Lordy "M" those furries must think they are Irish, have a need to be green. Lol
Love pansies but they don't last long do they..colors they have these days are spectacular. I just have a little pot of them on front deck table, which reminds me I have to water them.
Barb, did you finish 2nd mitt today or were you ble to work on binding? How is Sue doing?
Marion, are you all caught up now?
Still keeping the couch company
Jason is here, hoping he finishes tonight. He will put old cabinet doors on and will replace them with new ones once his wedding and honeymoon is over, I'm ok with that.
He is having problems with making shelving because of how the plumbing was brought in originally..told him as long as I have a few shelves I'll be satisfied. Not hard to please.
(at least I don't think I am)
Morning all
A/c is off, nice breeze
Just put everything back in the vanity, 1/2 went to garbage, why oh why do we keep so much?? Beyond me!
It was after 111pm by the time Jason finished shelving in washroom, put up trim we took down so nths me light fixture and mirror are still in the box. Know he won't have time before his wedding so I'll see who I an find to do so. Normally Greg does it for me but he is so busy right now with work and taking down/building new shed sooo I'll just be patient a bit longer.
What are you all up to today?
