DG was screwed up all afternoon but seems okay now.
Judy!!! So glad to hear from you. Sounds like the cottage trip turned out to be A-OK!!!! Happy for you and glad you got some fabrics. I have never done beads and I'm afraid my eyes would betray me if I tried to do it now.
Wondering how Lorna did today too. Hope it went well for her. The house must seem so quiet now "M"....
Have the dizzies gone away for good yet Dianne. I get worried whenever you mention them. Happy Birthday to Diesel and I'm so glad the meds are working with Duke. My Callie cat has started to become a pest at times. She bats at my legs when she wants a treat and lately she is doing it way too often. I need to get her to understand NO......
My upstairs neighbor came down for a while this morning for some help with a knitting project. It was kind of fun to have company. Made two gallons of spaghetti sauce to freeze and got the binding on Brandon's quilt (finally), So it has been a good day.....
Sending prayers to all in need....
Best/Worse//What did I learn today?Chat with Friends old&new
Guess it was just a DG glitch. It all seems OK now.
I so missed you all, DG replied via d-mail re having system issues, glad it was a quick fix.
Katie, ohhh has to be 10 or so chickadees fighting for their share of birdseed..chirping is so relaxing.
Barb, wonderful you are meeting people in the apartment complex, to find a crafter even better. Hope your camera is charged so you can post photo of Brandon's quilt. What is your neighbor knitting? Yum yum on spaghetti sauce, mused last zip lock bag I had frozen, so need to make more. Did you find out if you could hang a flower basket off the first floor balcony.
It's been a sunny day, thought I might put A/C on but such a nice breeze there is no need.
After putting together a quilt backing for the Patriotic quilt throw, having made a tote bag I still had a few scraps, what to do with them, decided I'd challenge myself into trying to make another tote bag, smilling here, scrappy it will be..think only think I'm missing is handles and fabric for the 2 inside bag pockets. Some of the outside bag 4" squares have been pieced, that's even scrapper than scrappy. Lol
Tired tonight, was thinking of soaking in the tub, put on Jammie's then see if I want to do nothing or get ambitious.
Are you all over your LNG weekend celebrations??
Debbie, will soon be sending DG thread police out looking for you..
Karen, what are you doing to keep busy?
Getting stuff ready for the wedding, ordering the food, shopping.
Thanks, Dianne, I'll look forward to the recipe.
Betty, I keep meaning to tell you that I got a Roger's plant. The reason they call it that is that it is "Rodgersia". Hope it lives for me. I got it last year and it overwintered, so I think it will do ok.
It's so hard to catch up when you haven't been on. So many things I want to respond to, then hen it's my turn, I forget!!
Glad to see you Lil Injun. Are your plants surviving?
Knew you would be keeping busy Karen, thought you might be sewing bridal part dresses. Lol
Suzanne's daughter Danielle is getting married June 13 so she is busy dealing with caterer. Not fun is it.
Joyce,mi moved mine around a few times, thought I'd lost it, well, I planted it last year out near back shed, bright but shady and it's living it. Where did you put yours? Still no flowers on thera tree, guess its early yet.
How is bill doing?
Wanted to thank you re the birdhouse/toadstool delivery , she said she loved it!
Think couch and an excedrin migraine won out.
No it's a small informal at a park wedding. Bride, her sister MOH, and daughter will wear pretty dresses, the rest are casual.
We went to a new to us thrift shop today, and I found some paper piecing kits, from a BOM series. each kit will make two 6'' blocks. called spinner star. they were 50 cents a kit!! I bought all 6 they had. some very pretty colors. and remember those daisy kingdom / cranston kits you could buy ? ( maybe still can) that has design printed on the fabric, you cut out and sew, makes dolls, teddy bears, vests, aprons....anyways I got one that is a very cute frog!! he will be adorable in my bathroom!! we just painted it greens, and got a frog bath mat, and frog toothbrush holder, and soap dispenser. I have a little table in there, it opens up, we keep extra TP in it. the frog will be great sitting on the table!!
hubs got some wonderful shorts for $ 3.00 each. and I got something nifty for my RWB swap buddy ^_^. we both got out of the house, and did some wandering around. good day. I needed one.
Those are the best weddings.
Wow Thunder who would have thought you'd get quilting supplies at a thrift shop..great finds.
Hmmm RWB swap, now you've peaked my curiosity.
Glad you got to do what you wanted to do with hubby..are you off tomorrow as well?
no,I am working tomorrow.
they actually had quite a bit of craft supplies, and a bunch of fabrics, seemed to be reasonable prices, but nothing I liked other than the kits I bought.
My sons wedding, which took place in my yard was supposed to be casual.....it got fancier and fancier as time got closer. the guys all ended up in tuxes, bride got a fancy designer gown!! I wore casual slacks, and a dressy (sorta) top. I was the worst dressed person at the wedding. every one else was ALL DRESSED up!!! I guess the brides family, and my family's definition of casual is very different!! I was going to change into something more dressy at the last minute, but the bride and her party took over my room, and I could not get in there to change....oh well.
When my oldest son married, they invited everyone to a backyard cook-out/ BBQ. Mid way through they disappeared into the house and dressed up, her mom and I made the announcement that it was now a surprise wedding. An Arch and balloons were set up. The couple came out and immediately threw the bouquet and garter. The catchers became best man and maid of honor. we all followed them to the arch, gathered around while vows were exchanged. After a bit of celebrating and photos, they changed back into casual clothes and the party proceeded until the wee hours. Best wedding ever.
AWESOME ^_^
What a fun story! Made me smile!
I put it in the shade garden. Near the back because I'm not sure how big it'll get. Love the foliage.
You're welcome re the delivery! ;) she's really a sweet girl and her DH is adorable. They're both friendly as can be.
Bill has his good days and his bad days. Seems like he's having more bad than good recently. He keeps plugging along though. We're coming up on the anniversary of his attack last year. It's scary remembering how close we came to losing him.
Took a few pictures of the garden a little bit ago. I'll only post a few.
Love, Love, Love the waterfall. And the peonies, I miss mine the most because some came from my grandmothers house. I had moved them twice already. I had them in most colors, singles and doubles. I had planned to move them first but this woman just showed up at our door and said our neighbor had told her about our place being for sale. Dang if she didn't buy it for our full asking price. I might still have pulled it off if she hadn't specifically mentioned the peonies being so beautiful.
Awww, Karen can you go back and ask for a few?
I had flowers from a great grandmother at the last place I lived. I told the realtor it HAD to be in the sale agreement that those flowers would be dug up before we left. Gave them to my sister. Beautiful iris. Knew they would not do well in Florida.
Maria, my neighbor from up the street is helping me with the van registration and related problems. She lives with a Mexican man and is more familiar with all the rules and regulations. We will begin the rounds tomorrow.
Lots of birds around. They have pooped all down the side of my front door. Better than in the food processor, I guess.
Betty, I thought the idea of your mom and Noah being forced to live together was funny. Since you are living with/in all the problems it might not strike you that way. But wouldn't it be nice if you could just lock the two of them in a room together for a few days? Or years?
Dianne, take care of yourself. Stay down if you"re dizzy. Could it be an ear infection?
Extra big hug for Debbie. Could be put your kids with Noah and Betty's mom? It begins to sound like a George Carlin routine. Just one big room with padded walls and no sharp instruments.
hugs, katie
Morning everyone! Beautiful gardens Joyce!
Katie, sure hope you can get your an registered.
Betty, I would tell your son, to tell Noah, he takes his pills or else he will go back to the hospital!
Katie, I'm chuckling away here at the George Carlin scenario .. you can add mt daughter in law to that mix as well .. by gawd she'd just whip that room into shape 'HER WAY' .. but, something tells me she would finally meet the RIGHT kind of resistance !!
Beautiful flowers, just caged my one lonely Peony last weekend .. lawsie is it growing leaps and bounds, and so is the Bleeding Heart, it could use a cage too.
Lillies and Iris have yet to flower (or show a sign) Hostas are just peekin out the ground ..
Went to a Hospice meeting last evening, I am facillitating at a 'Die alogue' on Thursday evening .. topic 'Your Bucket List' .. there's a guest speaker and there will be 10 tables with 8 folks at each .. hope I can keep things straight, been awhile since I've done this.
WOOT WOOT WOOT!!! Lorna goes for her BRAND NEW leg today, no more fixer uppers, the prosthetist has made her a new one, and, I pray it works out ACES as she signs her work contract with the company (SUnset Memorial) tomorrow. The big boss is coming up here from Toronto to see her ... she knows him, and is quite nervous about his impression of her, he hasn't seen her with her prosthetic leg in place.
ANyway, the Blue Jays are screaming for Pnuts, so I best git at'er ..
Toodles
~M~
So nice to hear she is getting her new leg! About time! Praying it fits properly!
Morning,
walked the gardens this morning, amazed at what Mother Nature can do, a sense of 'all is well in my world' came upon me with the beauty of each garden..sooo peaceful!
talked to Mom, out and out asked her when closing date is..June 6th, Jim's birthday June 7th so I asked if she would like to go to Buffalo for the weekend, I can keep her busy, heck will even take her to the Casino, that being said, all depends if I get my passport! Did think it was in yesterday but it was something for Rita. Also encouraged her to go with Sharon to Waubaushene Cemetery and pick a plot so we can bury Jim and have a celebration of life at my house, said she would wait till after cottage closes and Jim's birthday so one foot forward. She has been sick in bed last few days, think from her swim in the river, sounds in half decent frame of mind, who knows, she just may decide to sell house and find something closer to me. If only she was in this frame of mind all the time, I'd consider having her with me, slap me silly, don't let me think such things..lol
Katie, did not take offence in any way, actually laughed about it. Not sure what is happening at Greg/Mel's, thought better than to ask when I spoke to Greg the other night. It's Mel's birthday tomorrow so I will pick up something and drop in..either that or if Kyle drops in I'll get all the gossip. I wish all goes well today and that you are able to settle with the land and get your vehicle registered..bet as soon as you do you will be off to California right?
"M" great news about Lorna getting new leg..is it wise though that she tries to adjust just as she is starting new job??? you should be commended on doing the 'die alogue' as always you will do just fine. My peony will soon bloom, can't believe how big they've all grown but then I can't believe all the ants around this spring. I could cry when I think that the neighbor when doing work around the foundation of his house pulled out that gorgeous white bleeding heart..wish I had known, I'd have asked him for it. I do have a small one, one little stem and about 6 white hearts, hosta's are gigantic..feel like I live in the middle of nowhere when in the back yard as it's so secluded with trees/shrubs..like you all in your gardens I'm in heaven!
Joyce, sorry to hear Bill isn't doing the best, does do what he's been told???
Looks as though you are all caught up with garden work..love the photo's, be awhile till I can post some of my upcoming pretties. What are you making with hypertufa?
Thunder, are you mostly on day shift?
Karen, who looks after your gardens while you are away?
Oh Betty, "gardens" is stretching it to the max. I have a few Hostas around the foundation that were just peeking up when I left.(nothing like the giants I had downstate) I have my Wisteria from my grandmother and great grandmother, one in a tub and one in the ground. They are barely holding their own up north. I just hope they can survive until I can move them to a better place. Other than that, I get a couple tomatoes in a tub and some hanging baskets from my kids and that is the extent of my garden. I put my 3 house plants out in the summer and of course I have Lily of the Valley spreading around the deck, the only thing that truly thrives in this place. Pretty sad remembering all I had before and how much I enjoyed my yard.
Who turned the heat down? Yesterday it was in the mid 80's here and today it is in the low 50's. Feels like fall out there. Hasn't stopped the skeeters from flocking around us though.
Sending positive thoughts M that Lorna's new leg will be perfect for her.
D
Ouch. I got stung by a scorpion last night. It was in my bed and got me on the thigh. I never did see it; I must have pulverized it while looking for it. The sting is like nothing else. It was't too bad. I took a Benadryl and an extra pain pill, slept well and I'm fine today. I do a lot of shaking of covers, etc and vacuuming as they are nasty. I only see one or two a year in the house; about the same number outside. I've only had one really bad bite and that was about ten years ago. I learned to watch out for them.
I'm waiting for Maria so we can start our adventures to get the van licensed.
Gave Maria a tour of my "garden rooms" yesterday. From the road one would never guess how much land I have. She was properly impressed with all the work that Tony and I have done.
hugs, katie
OUCH! I know those scorpion stings are horrible! They can hurt so bad! Glad to hear your OK!
Good luck on the adventure today. I hope you are successful getting it registered! Sure wish you had a camera! We would love to see your gardens!
Dianne, I will trade temps with you......upper 90s and so humid! Thunder rumbling in the distance so we could be in for some bad storms tonight. Would love the rain but can do without the storm part. Actually having a nice visit this trip. Sue has/is making great progress
Sending the day in Sarasota tomorrow seeing what kind of mischief we can get into....shouldn't be to hard for us. :-)
Marion, how exciting to be having laughs with Sue..when will you be heading back? Don't getintotoo much mischief .
I also LndaKay wish Katie could postphoto's of her gardens..
Katie, how did yur day go? Feeling a bit better after that bite? Sounds like those bites could be deadly, aren't you worried??
Karen, everything under control for the wedding?
66f here but sure feels like 46f. Brrr
Just turned the heat up. Tom that does the tile here, putting closet door back on and transit piece. Then I pay him..he has done a good job!
Been fighting headache all day, Rita called and said we wouldn't do supper as planned tonight, maybe a day next week, I was happy to hear that....hot chocolate and a lay down for a few hours then who knows I might get ambitious.
Been doing some mailing to USA for swaps, keeping the heavier box till next weekend as I might be taking mom to buffalo and could mail from there..

Betty, are you feeling so energetic you posted twice? :)
Well we just got dish TV hooked up with HD and the hopper recording box! Lots to learn about it, but boy does the HD sure make a difference in the pictures! Everything is so nice and clear!
Betty, most of the scorpions are not poisonous unless you are super allergic to bee stings. They act like a bee sting, but stronger, but they sure do hurt when they get you! Feels like a nail went through you!
Doing much better tonight. Maria drove and we went to Santa Rosalia and got my Mexican driver's license. The easiest Mexican procedure either of us has ever been through. We celebrated with a roast chicken lunch eaten on a patio overlooking the Sea of Cortez.
yomorrow we will tackle the registration/innsurnce question(s).
Tonight I'm exhausted, largely from relief thqt, for the moment, I don't have to deal with Nasty Immigration Man.
I'm going to take a quick bath and go to bed.
Depression lifting majorly.
hugs, katie
Not sure how that happened LindaKay, not from beeing energetic that's for sure lol
Jason dropped in, too measurements and went off to build the piece he needs, I right to bed!
He gforgot to take a measurement, downstairs for measuring tape and now I'm wide awake. Hmmm. Shivering at the thought of being bitten by a scorpion. Those recording systems are too complicated for me, on demand I manage to do when I remember I have it. Tv's sure have come a long way..
Can anything be better Katie than sitting out on a patio with Sea of Cortez to look at. Glad you've got drivers permit, now for registration and property.
BOOOOOOooooo ... I am feeling SO BAD for Lorna ..
We went for the fittting of the new leg, it was PERFECT .. staff were ecstatic as she's the first above knee amputee who has been successful ..
Just had to add some padding as it was hitting her pelvic bone ..
Came back, she slipped it on. pushed in the button(valve) that expels the air and causes the suction .. and, pssssssssssssssst .. it broke !!!!!!!!!!!
Long story short .. her leg is still at the prosthetists .. they have replaced the silicone seal and it needs to dry overnight .. we pick it up at 9am .. her BIG appt is 2pm to sign her work contract .. prayers needed BIGTIME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dinner with the gurls was majorly fun ^_^
~M~
Oh Nooooooo! Hope all goes well in the morning...and the afternoon.
Sorry to hear she slipped and broker her leg. Hope it is an easy fix!
Morning,
Drats and more drats..if its her new one could she not wear her old one that she is accustomed to??what a thing to have happen! Sending prayers big time.
Another gorgeous day out there...
Prayers from me too "M". Sure hope it is an easy fix!!!
LindaK .. she didn't break her leg ^_^
Re reading it it looks like that.
Lorna placed her stump into the new socket, pressed the valve to express the trapped air, and the valve broke, which, virtually renders the leg useless.
Kerry will have fixed it by now, and I am going in to pick the leg up and bring it home .. it should be as simple as that ..'SHOULD', but, I can sense the panic Lorna is feeling ..
What it it 'they' say .. 'HOPE for the BEST, but, prepare for the WORST'.
Well since the WORST has already happened, it's time to get on with the BEST ^_^
Still counting on prayers for a GREAT meeting for her with the big boss at 2pm .. thanks ..
Coolish this morning, but, a supposed high in the mid 80s .. the Hospice event tonight is being held in an 'Artsy Fartsy' building on Lake Superior .. hope it's cool ..
Best shower and get ready to blast off
Hope all are well .. HUGS all around
Toodles
~M~
Sending positive thoughts for Lorna. We all cheer her on!
Marion I wasn't complaining about the heat just that it was an over 30* difference in 24 hr. Heat and I do not do well together. I would take the Fall season weather year round. Excellent temps plus the bonus of no bugs. After I went through menopause my thermostat got stuck on hot. Before that I loved being in the sun = perhaps too much as I have had some skin cancer. Heck I used to work as a lifeguard and even worked in tobacco.Warren and I would spend all day out in the sun fishing never giving it a thought.
Marion I am very happy to read this visit with your DS is going well.
Well I did diddly yesterday other than walks for the dogs and even that was cut short due to the bugs.I feel like doing the exact same thing today. Have a new book so might just read.
Katie I am so glad you got that hurdle over with. Lunch sounded idyllic.
LK how do the dogs handle the heat?
How is the headache Betty? Looks like rain here, how about you?
Dianne
