How horrible Karen..are you home?
Best/Worse//What did I learn today?Chat with Friends old&new
Nope still in TN, wedding is the 31st, will be here until after then but not sure just how long.
Great family time Karen
Morning,
Raining so no grass cutting today..do say sunshine for the weekend though, can only hope they are right
Deb, how is Willow this morning
Dianne, you're are things going?
Bet Mary is looking forward to a fun day at Disney but worrying about the shop
Worked yesterday on block r/w/b so with likely make them nto something, what? I'm not sure....think last fall I bought a panel at Fabricland that I could use hmmm
Nothing very interesting, we shall see.
So with the weekend upon us what will you get up to?
Went to Brandon's last band concert last night. I can't believe there will be no more. He said the trombone is now going under his bed until whenever!!!!! Now his focus is on getting ready for college and getting all the stuff he needs to bring with him.....Graduation is June 13.
I got his quilt back from the quilter and now I'll get the binding on and sewn down.
Out straight today with company this morning and then knitting this afternoon. Will keep all in my prayers......
Although it's a happy time Barb, it's also a sad time for us..they grow up too quickly! Can't wait to see the quilt finished...does he know about it?
Drats, not that cold, must be the dampness, every bone in my body is aching..just got to move to a warmer climate lol
Hard to see the little ones grow up and go their own way! My Granddaughter will be 15 this fall, and I don't know where the time went!
Betty, it is already 70 here in Texas!
Willow is doing OK. The vet drained the lump on her shoulder, said he was happy with how she was doing, and that I didn't need to keep it covered. I left her sweater off, and as soon as we got home she started scratching. It looked a little bloody, so she's back in her turtleneck. He also said we could leave her on the one pain med, on a smaller dose, since she's been doing stairs better, and been more active when she was on it. He said it works good for mild arthritis.
I'm home today, since I had planned on a dog show. Dealing with Willow yesterday, I didn't have time to get my grooming done, and no way I could be in Kalamazoo MI by 9am this morning without getting some sleep. So, I decided to pass on the show. So far, it's a beautiful day out here. Sunny, and upper 50's.
Deb
Blazing sun (and saddles) here this morning!
One of the horses got out of his stall at the stables down the road .. there he was standing trying to decided whether he would eat the Impatiens, or, the Pansies !!!!!!
He did neither, I opened to backdoor just as Lynne the stable owner trotted up our driveway and put a rope around him and led him back .. has only happened once before in 28 years ..
One year I was hanging clothes on the line, turned around, and there were 3 dairy cows standing staring at me .. now THEY were not easy to get back to the farm, in fact, it took the better part of a week to get them to come into a homemade corral baited with food ..
Lorna's new liner makes it virtually impossible for the leg to come off .. it is on there to STAY, she is SO pleased.
Gord is off to his class, and, Lorna and i are getting ready to go and get a truckload of mulch for the tree pits and beds .. some beautiful colours to choose from.
It'll be a gardening weekend here for sure as the temps are SUPPPOSED to go up near 80F.
Sorry to hear about Mike Kennedy ...he has sort of a following like Hazel McCallion ..
I best boogie
TGIF, stay well all
~M~
Think I would be really upset if I saw a horse in my yard eating the new plants I just put in! Glad the owner came for him!
Glad to hear Lornas new leg fits now! About time!
That reminds me of my Dad's dentures, a few years ago he was in Washington with my Brother and his wife got tired of him taking his dentures out at the table to eat all the time. He was using those pads you use on them to make them fit better, but they did not work very well. Well she went out and got some sort of paste and I guess she used a lot of it, and when it came to bedtime and remove his dentures he could not get them out of his mouth. She had to take him to the dentist to get them removed. She was told to never use that paste again!
holly wah, 70 and so early in the morning, it's 50 right now but feels in low 40's due to dampness..raining heavy for sure.
Deb, on our first night travelling in July we are hoping to make it to Gary Indianna but if we leave late my opt for Kalamazoo Mi..Is the show for all breeds, for some reason I think my sister Sharon shows her American Eskimo there, could be wrong. glad Willow is on the mend!
"M" you should have gone for a horse ride this morning, must have startled you, laughing at the cows...when I was on the farm sometimes my goats would get out, had to go look for them with more goats so they'd follow me home, luckily they would go deep into the bush where the big natural pond was. Such good news re Lorna..yippeeee
LindaKay, omg, laughing here, would have been so funny, not for your dad though
Waiting on the tile guy, should be here soon to lay tiles, not sure if he came back tonight and grouted it would be a finished project.
Jason dropped in this morning to see if the tile work was done, said he'd come tomorrow night to take proper measurements for part of the cabinet he's making
made great headway on the quilt throw I'm doing..quite an undertaking when you are only using fabric and panel I have then making squares..yikes, squares don't quite match length soooo I'm improvising, had to add a 4" block strip in between the middle of blocks..will show you later
just got to accept it's off a bit
Glad you could add the sashing to make it fit Betty.
Yes, Kalamazoo Mi is all breed shows, five days, started on Thursday. I only entered one day, because it was a judge I've done well under in the past. It's nice taking it easy at home, though, I guess I should go do something productive so it won't feel like I'm wasting my vacation day.
should e-mail Sharon, she or the man who shows her dogs rarely miss a USA show..will do and let you know.
Not really sashing LindaKay, I cut a piece from a square on each side and made fit...lol
Just realized, it's your Memorial Day weekend this weekend so you must have plans to do something fun..
A word of warning and a sigh LoL
Came home from town with a huge load of 'golden coloured cedar mulch'
We helped the young fella level it out, i used my hands ..
Got home and OMG, I am obviously allergic to the dye used in the mulch
Hands are red and itchy .. washed them really well
SO .. I'll be wearing gloves to work with it ..
LOVE the denture story, as a nurse I saw stuff like that happen often .. heck, I keep saying I should write a book LoL
Outside we go .. 84F .. LOVE IT .. remember the -40F days !!!
~M~
yow, better remember to put my gloves on when I pick some up, rarely do I use gloves, never had problems but there is always a first time. Do you have benedryl salve?? OMG 84F, is that for real..when I left for town I thought it actually might snow, talk about cold..everyone wearing heavy clothing, except me of course.
went into Midland, wanted to purchase a toilet paper holder, old one was crappy, saw a floor stand paper holder, place for a magazine lol toilet paper holder and an area to hold 3 extra rolls so home it came, bit more modern.
looked at shower curtains and curtains, crap, don't know what I want, nothing took my fancy..seeing vanity and trim isn't done white I decided to buy an cheapo then take my time looking
almost feel
Make your own show curtain to hang in front of the liner!
Wow, that is warm for you "M"! Hope your hands heal quickly!
I'm not that ambitious LindaKay
I'm getting anxious to finish the project..had countertop sitting in the crate since last November now I want the project finished! No sooner did I get home today from midland does the tiler tell me I need grout..guess he will be back Monday.
Seems to be warming up out there, could cut grass but leaving it for tomorrow, be in bed early, almost considering going now
BETTY !! I have what i ti=hink could be the same toilet paper holder .
I really like it, BUT, I should have protected the thing with some kind of sealant before putting it in the 'big' bathroom .. it started showing rust because of the humidity ..
Hands are OK .. but, I am heading for bed ... too much sun :-(
MY downfall at this time of year ...
~M~
Likely i beat you to bed "M"
Watching Castle, think if I concentrate on the voices I just could doze off
We have the same taste then. Lol

Morning
It's a sunshine day in my neighborhood, made my coffee then went to go look outside from back bedroom, had to smile, when I was in Buffalo shopping with Debbie I picked up 2 coir liners ffor the metal railing flower baskets, there were 2 robins pulling them apart, guess they needed nesting materials..guess I will need 2 more once it's warm enough for planting them.
waiting for home depot to open so I get get a box of grout then home for the weekend.
With all the rain we've had not likely will I be able to cut grass till later this afternoon so made a list of 'to do's..me and my 'to do' list. Lol but it does keep me focused.
Worked on a RWB piece, would love to get it on the frame
Tote bag. DONE
2 washroom doors painted
Get the medicine cabinet up
See if I'm able to get the new mirror up
Window trim in washroom painted white. DONE. Extra-curtains
Big project, now that the little pond is empty see if I can find the hole and patch it. ****. DONE AS BEST AS I COULD
lawns/garden. DONE
Now let's see what I will get done.
Do you have picnics/parades this weekend?
This message was edited May 25, 2014 3:02 PM
Good morning Betty. It is supposed to rain here off and on all weekend. So no picnics I'm afraid. We had planned to watch Sean's ball game today but I think it will be cancelled. The weather is to clear by Monday and Madison (#3 granddaughter) is marching in her first parade with her school band in the morning. We will go to that and then Sophia's (#4 granddaughter) birthday get- together is in the afternoon. Maybe we will get out and walk the mall or something....
I will sew the binding on Brandon's quilt this morning so I can work on the hand sewing a little at a time and still get it done before graduation.
Went to the knitting group yesterday and a lady came to teach us how to knit slippers. I didn't say anything but I did that years ago. It was an enjoyable afternoon.
I had a toilet paper holder like that. This bath is too small for one. If you sneeze in there you will blow yourself right out of the room. That is how small it is.......LOL
I didn't see much rest time in that list above. Do you have any handwork to do?
Disappointing for sure Barb re weather..maybe the sunshine and soft breeze I'm blowing your way will help chase it away..you've lots planned, just don't overdo..I'm not a mall person, often get calls from friends to go to mall and got to pass, but people watching I think while sitting on a bench would be good for you.
Barb, look at it this way, washroom has less space you have to clean and that's a good thing.
so did you end up with slippers for Norm? Sometimes doing a project you once done is fun, less stress following the pattern. Someone gave me a pattern for slippers, quite a neat pattern, bought the wool, did a few rows and thought nope, not for me..think I know where the bag is, should get it out unless when I was cleaning closets in went bye bye at the curb.
Got my name for the RWB swap, one of my favorites, ended up using only fabrics I had in my stash and am ready to quilt the lg throw and make a tote bag..just checked, no fabric for lining so when I go into town I shall pick something up
well Barb if I can get the piece quilted, I can sit and hand sew the binding
Another awesome day in the Bay ^_^
Sun is shining, birds are twittering, squirrels are being mischievious, bunny rabbit is looking for BUSHES to eat .. and .. Piper and Lilly are managing all this activity and making sure nothing untowards happens ... every so often they bark or growl ... funny little puppies, love'em to death!
Beautiful RWB quilt Betty .. someone is going to be a proud owner!
Barb, enjoy your weekend activities, sound wonderful !
Chemo day today, am thinking of taking the 8 tablets 2 every 2 hours, or, 4 tabs in the morning, and 4 at night .. NOT taking all 8 together ..
Off to hang out some laundry.
Toodles
~M~
Back from town, yowzers, tourists have taken advantage of the nice weather, lineups where ever you go!
"M" worth a try taking them atintervals
Same here, all except for rabbits, can't believe how many birds are in the yard..went and took the cushions out of back shed for patio set, was tempted just to sit a d listen but thought work first, sit later
Off tout some grubs on and get to work..first on my list is the small pond, drats where is Joyce when you need her. Lol got to find the hole so I can refill and enjoy
Goal is to have that behind me by 2pm
It's the hardest part of my'to do listso once done it will be easy street.
Hope you find and fix that hole easily Betty!
Wouldn't you know it's likely from the water line right under all the rocks and slate
Doing my best, worse that could happen is I fill it up again and fill when water levels get low and fix next year or when the boys drop in..
I really should tell them seeing as their dad is gone they get to work Father's day to help old mom out as dad would be proud of them..ooops best I not try that. Lol
This message was edited May 24, 2014 11:46 AM
Hope you get some help Betty, sounds like a job you need help with!
I moved mwhat I could, did not see any hole, only way would be to take those big slabs of slate that makes the waterfall out and start fresh, nope, not even going to try that..found heavy duty clear plastic set it where I could and put the boulders and slate I could lift over it..it will have to be mothers day 2015 to do project...wasn't a big deal but I wanted to repair it..oh well, not stupid enough to try on my own, aren't you proud of me?
Filling it now, takes about 2-3hours, let's hope I've moved the rock and by chance alng with plastic covered it up, I can be hopeful can't I.
Hot bath then grass cutting
Oh Bev , they are so beatiful! You sure know how to capture their beauty...When you are trading you are still getting more lilies though..you must have the perfect soil for them. Sure wish I lived closer..remember I started collecting them years ago and then we had that bug? Wonder if enough years has gone by that I could try again? You sure know how to tempt a person.
How are you doing? Think of you often..while doing my roadtrip for late July and scheduling hours of driving and stopping schedule Sprinfield was a stop..so remember our trip and visit with you..
How are the boys doing?
Your popping in has made my day..
I would send you a bunch but cannot send to Canada right??
No you can't sweetie..while shopping I will buy a Bev lily and see if it will survive..I was so excited, had so many growing then the bug..so hope it never attacks your gardens
Betty, Bev had Iris's, not lilies. I sure hope your lily bug is gone by now!
Bev, those are beautiful. Wish I had shade to grow them in!
Ooops
http://faq.gardenweb.com/faq/lists/neweng/2002040522017914.html
Wouldn't spend a lot of $$$ just in case
Linda Kay irises grow in sun and dryness.
Morning all,
Bev, sorry, I always mix up lillies and iris but you do have lillies right? thought it was you that urged me on to start collecting them?
"M" were the meds easier on you being taken in intervals?
what do you all have planned for today?
was waiting to see what kind of day it would be out there, looked like rain but now and again I look out and the sun comes out so while the neighborhood sleeps I will play inside, don't think after most having fires going last night they'd want the lawnmower and weeder going..that's ok its kind of a rest period for me.
Found a bag that mom gave me with curtain fabric, thought I had also given that bag away but lo and behold it was tucked in the cupboard in the laundry room. Don't want to buy fabric because I want a type of wooden drape so it's perfect for what I needed..few hems and there you go!
Annoying, pet peeve, when someone says they will so something then do it or at least call..Jason said he'd be here last night to measure for the work that needs done on the vanity..didn't show up..younger man, will have to tell him the importance in business to advise clients if you are unable to come.
oh well, by next weekend Lord willing it will be done and I'll be back to normal.
yesterday was a yuk yuk day lol into the sludge I went, looked for holes, no could fine, put some clean plastic down, started putting rocks on it, still have more slate to buy next weekend but thinking I'd wait until it's redone, gee whiz always something with this small pond, never problems (touch wood) with the larger one..
guess I will sew a bit on a tote..going to give neighbors till 10 a.m. and then out comes the machines
Betty, do you ever take a week end or even a day to rest? Your ponds are so pretty! Glad you were able to find that curtain and modify it to fit your needs!
"M", how are you feeling today?
Not usually, work is what entertains me,
Was doing great on tote bag, Melanie dropped in, she was on her way to a shower in Meaford 1 1/2 hr drive, she gets a call, Greg screaming, she says all hell broke loose at home!!!
Noah asked, no told his dad his bed needed xtra screws, squeels, Greg tells him to clean his room and he will fix it..catch 22
Noah speaks to his parents like a piece of dirt, I know that but Greg has no patience.
Over I drive, Greg is cleaning his spider, foxy lady comes next, Noah took his bed apart and pit it in the driveway ( little bu**er, so now Greg is angry, Noah got a crate of 18 eggs and threw. Them at spider and boat. So over I go, Greg is beyond talking to, I went upstairs, lucky I can even find Noah's room, he met me half way on the stairs, said not to come up, I made my way up, told me he is moving out, in the shower he went, I said I wanted to talk to him, not going to happen, told him his behavior is not acceptable and it's not all him but respect is a must..
Told him to keep pushing and he will have nobody in his life.
When I left Greg said he was giving him till one to get out them he would call police that he and Mel would not work to give him everything only to be abused.
His poor girlfriend tried to console me, thought I'd best leave so ask me if I'm happy on this sunny day
Got to stop crying and focus on something else..
