Here we are, new thread..
Dropped into Rita's to have her sign passport application, Lordy she is down with a bad cold, she signed documents then right back to bed when I left.
Then on to Ann's to sign as well, friday was the 3rd anniversary of Mike's death, had about 16 for weekend..today would have been Mike's 65th birthday so she had a hard day, she also was going to have bath then bath..Lordy she is allergic to black flies, talk about welts all over her body.
Now home, Rita told me the tile guy called her this morning, couldn't start my floor, his son was I'll with the flu so he stayed home to look after him, big sigh, likely tomorrow

Hokey doodle Betty, lotsa bugs your way ..
We had a bunch of folks ill in April with Upper Respiratory Infections that seemed to linger for weeks.
Just watched 2 male Evening Grossbeaks fly onto the feeder, just beautiful !!
Early bed tonight, the dogs have an 8am groomers appt, then Gord and I will go for breakfast, then I have the rheumatoid arthritis bloodwork ($85.00) to have done !! Beats me if I'll ever get the $$ back ??
Stay well and sleep well everyone ^_^
~M~
Stupid rabbits! A mother rabbit made a nest in my backyard, I guess. No sign of her, but the dogs found the babies. I had to bury 4 out of 5, my neighbor came over and took the surviving bunny to try to nurse it along. I told her if it survives, to release it somewhere far away. I had the same problem last year, you would think with the smell of dogs, they would stay away. I felt so bad, but really can't blame the dogs, sighthound breeds are known for their strong prey drive. There is one broken board in the fence, which is the only place I can see where they get in. I've got to get that fixed this weekend.
"M" you've got a full day ahead of you, costly one as well. Is it a private clinic you are
being tested at?? Not sure why it's not covered.
Deb, that is horrible but as you say it's bred into hunting dogs.
Lets hope your neighbor can keep the last one alive..good luck with fence repair.
I too felt bad when Misssy caught a bluejay on the weekend, I so enjoy watching them eat but not at the risk of them losing their life so no more food out front..will feed further and higher where it would be harder gpforge her to reach.
New neighbors have 2 dogs that just make me cringe when they are at the fence growling, if they don't get me then likely one of the kitties as they were used to playing with dogs next door.
Drats, saw some ants so just set out food for them..sure hope that is the end of that!
Betty why do you have to have others sign the application for your passport?
Morning
LindaKay you need a guarantor to certify the info given is correct..
Then people to sign saying they've known you for over 2 years.
On my way to the city, be a quick trip there, not far from mom's, might drop in for coffee
Hear in the States we just fill out the papers and turn them in at the post office where they take our picture. Then we pay the fee and wait about a month for it to come in the mail.
Guess we were lucky with the passports last time .. didn't have to have any other signatures as they had the old passport.
Off n runnin here ..
~M~
I think it is because of the name change. She also has to appear in person for it.
Omg now I know why I wouldn't live in Toronto, bumper to bumper..
Yes Barb, it was because of name change I wanted to go as had I send paperwork in and something was missing who knows if I'd have my passport in time to travel..girls wouldn't have been happy!
So will receive it registered within 2 weeks..feel naked without it. Lol. No stateside till I get it
Boo hoo
Visited with mom for 1/2 hr..came home with 2 porcelain dolls, least I could do..she was happy to see me
Still didn't say if she cancelled sale of cottage or it's going through..I decided not to ask
Starving, didn't even stop for a coffee so must go eat
Yikes, will tell you about mom's mishap when I came back
OMG> I am on the trail of another possible way to get my van registered. We also have to go to town and to the bank to make another withdrawl. Should be able to pay for the land by the end of the week. The problem now is getting enough cash. It is strange living with an economy in which you pay for a paarcel of land with cash!!! And, of course, dealing with all of it at once is a PITA. Why can't LIFE spread these tings out?
Neighbors Dana and Tom will leave early next week for their summer in Oregon. I'll miss her. And their dog Amiga. Their cat Loca has gone missing. Their other cat Chocolate pretty much lives here anyway. They leave their cats here when they go north. This year they will be traveling with five dogs!! Two of them are going to new homes in the US but it will be a hectic trip.
Got an email from my niece which has stirred up some old stuff. We do our best to laugh where we can but sometimes that's hard to do. She told me once about a time her mother chased her and her younger brother around a table with a knife because neither of them would eat the strawberry shortcake she had made. Makes your mother seem almost normal, doesn't it, Betty? I usually let this stuff lie sleeping while I get on with life as I am able to. Other times, one of those "hairballs" pops up and there's nothing to do but puke it out.
On a more cheerful notte, it is full on spring/summer here. I got a lot of work on the new garden path done yesterday. Tony is continuing the work today. He was very complimentary about the amount of work I got done yesterday. My body is paying the price today.
Did you all see the news story about the surfer in Hawaii who tried to kill an "elderly woman" with her car? Every time the news people talk about this poor, fragile, helpless elderly woman I react strongly. She is the same age as I am!!! Hard to theink of myself as fragile and elderly.
hugs, katie
LOL Katie I so agree with you when I read something about someone who is close to my age....not elderly as far as I am concerned. Then again, it might be it is in the person's out look on life.
Heard from Kim today and it is such stupid unbelievable news. Last night was graduation and as could be predicted there were parties. Well one graduation senior got into an argument and another one shot him. Yes he died. Senseless!!!!
Sorry to hear that Marion! Sending prayers to the family!
How sad is that? What a shame. I'll pray for the families....
Omg how absolutely insane..those poor parents, all their hopes and dreams..parents of both boys must be beyond themselves..sending prayers.
Katie,I sure after the last time would be worried that cash given for land ownership might not be registered and this comes up once again..worry for you! Will there ever be a day when you and Tony will get to sit and take in all the work you've done??
He is hoping you finally find a way to get the car situation nder control
Ohmigosh .. what a shame re the grad and the shooting .. bad memories for so many people ..
Katie, not sure what you mean re the purchasing of property, but, I DO know that you had best be careful with regards to paperwork and receipts once the sale is final ..
Had a great day .. Murray (DS) texted me while DH and I were having breakfast .. he and his wife dropped by the restaurant and it became a family breakfast .. and, a nice one at that ^_^
Then I went for the blood work, AND, I did NOT have to pay the $85.00 .. apparently it is covered by some drug company ?
Anyway, the lab tech got me in ONE poke, I was way happy re that !
Then, off to pick up our 'kids' LoL .. Lilly and Piper, from the groomers, gosh, they look so WHITE ^_^
I have pics, but, Lilly will NOT look at the camera ..
Came home, and Lorna had vacuumed through the house, and dusted .. and was heading out to plant the last of 3 flats of Pansies .. just GORGEOUS .. will have pics once my hands thaw out ..
It is COLD out there !!! Only 42F and threatening rain ..
MOSQUITOES are out though !!
Have made a ham and hash brown casserole for supper, should go get'er goin
Toodles
M
Sure sounds like a sunshine day for you "M"' nice when the unexpected happens! Was tempted to buy pansies, think I shall just wait a few more weeks before any plants/shrubs are bought.
That's awfully cold brrr. It's in the 70's here
sat outside and enjoyed an ice cream and listened to the birds sing, truly relaxing..it's hard to believe just weeks ago everything looked so drab and now lush green, surrounded by trees, some blooms, makes all the hard work worth it.
Was going to tell you about mom's mishap..Sunday she was helping her elderly sister pach up, she is moving into a seniors apartment building in June so wanted to burns decade own papers, she and mom sat near fire pit and started to burn, wind came up, paperwork started to blow away, aunt Muriel fretted that someone might find data re bank accounts, mom started to run to get it, foot got caught in the rocks and into the river she went..drats her legs are completely black/blue..how she doesn't breat a leg or hip is beyond me.
Aunt Muriel is 83 lbs, difficult for her to help mom climb out of the river..shaking my head
Willow goes back to the vet tomorrow. There is an infection at the incision site. Went in on Tuesday because it was draining and looking ugly. He took out the staples and changed her antibiotics and drained some fluid that had built up. Said lots of white cells. This afternoon the lump is bigger than ever, so he said to bring her back tomorrow and he'll drain it again. I hope these new antibiotics start kicking in and we can get this infection cleared up. At least, with the staples out, she isn't constantly trying to scratch at it.
Betty, I hope your mom recovers from her mishap quickly.
Sorry to hear Willow is not doing well, is she prone to infections when she has had surgery before or has she had previous surgeries. Licking likely doesn't help..did she have a cone? A worry for you. How is the little rabbit doing?
Don't know how people do total renovations..Jason can't finish what he is doing until tile is down. Shawn called this afternoon, said "do you still want the tiling done?" as if, his worker called twice to say he had to put things off a few days. Guarantees tomorrow for sure.
Greg and Noah just came in, get a kick when the boys need to borrow mom's tools..actually it was the new pump to get rid of water on pool cover..I was saying all I have to do and he was telling me all he has to do, his list is bigger, tearing down his shed and building a new one..said he was wondering if there was a 'son' day, like Mother's day that has a 'to do" li can help them with, not going to happen..lol
Brought one of the 2 dolls in, Lordy where on earth am I going to put them?
can they sit on the guest bed ?? or how about on the dresser??
so very sad about the shooting, I just can not understand what these kids are thinking these days. so very many lives affected.
we had to bring our own photos, and go to the court house with paper work, to apply for our passports. they told us it could take up to 6 months. only took about 6 weeks.
Oh oh where are you travelling to?? Canada by any chance Thunder?
Had one years ago that sits on my dresser, not a porcelains type house
Could always put them in the closet and hope she calls before dropping in
Yawning away, thinking of hot bath and early night
we got them a few years ago, when son was going to go to Germany for three years. His orders got changed.
I wish I understood kids better today. Why a shooting would happen at a graduation party is totally beyond me!!! Apparently there were drugs involved from what we are hearing...still sad.
Ouch Betty! Your mother is lucky she wasn't hurt worse than being bruised.
Nothing exciting today, just working on getting things in order here. Tomorrow Kim will have officially finished her 27th year of teaching. Where in the world has the time gone?
That is a long time!
I just talked to Judy, she is having computer problems, and said she will be back online just as soon as she gets them fixed. She say's hello to everyone!
Morning,
Overcast but they do say another stellar day!
Marion, is a shame isn't it when your young ones are always in danger while out in the world, never was it a concern when my kids were young, not so for grandchildren..poor families and friends.
Thanks LindaKay for update on Judy..
Tile guy says he is coming today, said that for a week, said I'd be without washroom for 2 days, have that under control..if he doesn't show up before end of week I will go in search of someone else.
In a swap, need to sew
Think I could put a table outside and sew?? Lol
What are you all up to today?
It is overcast and dreary here today. Showers expected. I'm glad I got out yesterday for a while. I went and picked up Brandon's graduation quilt from the quilter. She does such a great job. Now I need to bind it and sew it down. I can only do a lttle bit of hand sewing at a time but I have plenty of that!!!!
I'm not sure whether I like the dolls or not. I didn't realize they were so big.....
The yard looks wonderful Betty. Where are you using those pretty colorful pillows?
Betty, your Mom sure makes beautiful dolls! Love your gardens coming to life, amazing how fast things are growing for you!
You wish you had plants like us southerners? Betty trust me, my yard doesn't look anything like that...just beautiful! My plants are slow to put on any blooms so far. Did have a nice show of amaryllis while I was gone but nothing else is really blooming yet.
Light rain, can only think more garden growth! Had hope to do grass so it would be done for the weekend but guess tomorrow will do. What now remains is the weeding
Had breakfast, still no tiler. Grrr
Thankfully I didn't prepay as I sometimes do. Lol. Am learning
Those were the smaller of the dolls, most are 2 year olds size
Barb, anxious to see Brandon's finished quilt.
Should really get energetic and put a quilt on the frame..would be easy to do an hour here and there vs working on one all day long
Betty, your yard is beautiful!
No cone for Willow, the incision is from the middle of her shoulder blade to half way up her neck, so no cone, no collar, I do have her in an old turtleneck with the sleeves cut off to keep it covered. Now that the staples are out she hasn't been trying to scratch it like before.
She must look adorable in her sweater. Lol
Not beautiful yet, waiting for end of June/July
well the mesh and cement is on the floor, tomorrow the tiling should be done
here is hoping
thin line in the off white tile, maybe I should have gotten something busier but just wanted if to fade so when I get the urge to redecorate I won't worry about the tile color.
Chinese for supper, on the hungry side.
I love the tile.
Like the tile Betty ..
Uou're very fortunate to have such wonderful blooms right now .. mine are all BOUGHT so far ..
4 flats of pansies and I think 2-3 flats of Impatiens .
The Forsythia is trying to bloom, but, this morning we spotted a bunny close to it .. so .. today we were busy rigging up the gardens with more noisemakers .
Lorna went to the prosthetic fella again today, and, SURPRISE .. he made a GOOD adjustment .. sh walked from the house to the garage UNAIDED 4 times this aft .. and, it is not a short distance !
Fingers crossed this new liner is what is needed.
Otherwise, just a busy day with the yards, and the dogs and the sun ^_^
Off to get a truck load of beautiful cedar mulch tomorrow, a gorgeous rust colour.
Toodles
~M~
great news re Lorna, maybe it's the last tweak she will need, wouldn't that be wonderful!
Next door to Rita "M" along the riverbank they added black mulch, omg it looks beautiful
Laughing here, somebody is snoring loudly, mim in the living room and it's coming from my bedroom, o.k. I'm the only one who lives here so must be the kitty lol
Or maybe I should tiptoe, I always say door is open to everyone, maybe somebody took me up on it.
Talked to Darlene for an hour, heart goes out to her..Mae is still holding on..Dar's sister Sue had appendicx out a few weeks ago, she has been to emerge four times since..apparently has cdificile and is quarantined at home, very hard on her not being able to be with her mom.
Remember SARS was the scare when dad was hospitalized..I and his wife were only ones able to be with him..sure is hard on those who cannot be there.
just heard Mike Kennedy, was the mayor of port severn whom I worked for for many years and who also lived on my street in Penetang while wenweremgrowing up died, 77' was running for Mayor again. They just keep getting younger
Sewed most of the day, think I will have a hot bath, hoping the cement in the washroom is dry enough so I can so that then eat Chinese and have an early night. Damp, bones are aching so meds are needed..
Hooe you all enjoyed your day.
Awesome for Lorna, sure do hope this is finally the right fit. Sure wish someone had made a dear friend of mine a decent fitting leg. She only had S.S. so was stuck with what ever the government gave her. Sadly it was so bad it would fall off without warning.
