Sweet Interruptions. Rm. 286

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

You can send some of that rhubarb pie, haven't had any in years and it would be a lot better with strawberries in it. Hard to grow rhubarb here, in fact I don't remember when I've seen it in the stores. It is going to be another very hot day and windy too. Trying to talk myself into giving the dogs a bath but not doing a good job. Sami fights me all the way and I end up with a bath too.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

I took my Sammy to the vet for a bath and nail clipping. my back isn't strong enough to fight with him

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Well Miz Kathy, you had just better pay attention when you are driving. Ross got me my Highlander the last Mother's Day he was alive...yes it is 10 years old, runs like a dream and I love it to death. Now watch that I have said that..something will go wrong.

Yeap, Jaye you need to make yourself one. Every time I go to Canada to see family I have a rhubarb pie, if available. My nephew's brother is a baker and he makes me a10" pie with a side order of Butter Tarts. Now you know why I am "rolly polly".

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Rhubarb pie is my oldest son's favorite. I make him one just for himself every year for his birthday. Then I make another for everyone else to share.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Well Karen, I bought a pineapple yesterday. Will be feasting on fresh wedges, all by myself.
Roast a chicken just now, what's left will be curry with some fresh pineapple chunks tomorrow.
My mother would make pineapple tarts with grated fresh pineapples. She'd add sugar, cloves, cinnamon and vanilla. Her tart shells were oh so buttery..

So Marion, you're not the only rolly polly, spoilt by great family bakers!!
Cars nowadays aren't worth their price stickers.

Pegi, use sunscreen and a hat!! I did that just now, watering the garden.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh it is a good thing I am not close by. I also love pineapple. Kim is very allergic to it so we don't have much around here. Oh but when I am away........................

Smart son, Karen.

hello everyone
had a nice surprise visit from cookie and shari :) sent them home with plants .
My court date for my divorce is June 25th..... mixed emotions

Jaye that is so pretty.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

No ID, but it needs a home!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Be sure and keep it's soil acidic Jaye, or it will turn pink.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Prayers said for Jess, Synda. Deers can cause some damage :( One totaled my station wagon. May the Lord heal Jess.

Karen, I will add rusty nails to the soil before planting that. Did it with the Nikko Blue, and it stays blue. Our soil is too acidic too I think as there are now my clematis Niobe, that was red for years, and this year, went purple!

Good day sistahs. Nothing much going on today, just watering the gardens (with a hat) and having to groom the kittens. That itself can take hours.
Start of the flea season again. I control the infestation with Bengal sprays and sprinkling diametcious (sp) earth around the house. Never get those cheap insect repellant tubes as they don't work, but from the vet. Grooming the cats mean having to comb them daily and having a bowl of soapy water ready!
I can be in a trance when I do that!! Lol!! The cats love it when mama's grooming them.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

You and my sister need to live close together...regarding cats only. :-) She grooms her's daily also plus the neighbor's dog ( lives about 1/2 mile from her but comes for dog bones.

I got a Nikko Blue last year and thought I had lost it but it has put it's beautiful head up and growing really great now. I love those!! Not such good luck with Ruby Slippers. I think it was way to small to survive the winter or I didn't get the mulch deep enough.

I am working on "shoveling" out things we no longer need or use in an effort to reduce the clutter here. Yikes how it can accumulate. Also working on scheduling oven and a/c installations before I need to go back down south.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Marion, I just asked in RWB room about your Ruby Slippers!!! No luck with that either. I think if I want more plants, they will have to be either daylilies or clematis.
My hostas did a poor showing. Got to be the ice.
Kel doesn't help with the grooming, only the litter boxes. Got to keep the fleas down with so many cats. Yep, I laughed at Sue's with her cats.. and now.. look at me.. I have more than her :D

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

How is the kitty you took to the vet the other day?

How are you feeling Jaye, getting better?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Billie Junior is sleeping most of the time. It's still on antibiotics twice a day. I keep it hydrated by feeding it Pedialyte with a humongous tube. When I notice it doesn't want the canned food or tuna, I'll mix that Pedialyte with kitty milk.
The eyes are clearer now, and most important, the gums are now pink.
Thanks for asking LK. Aa for me, doing better, nostrils aren't stuffed for sure!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear the good report. Your such a good momma.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Good to hear you're feeling better Jaye.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susie has the KING OR QUEEN FOR THE MONTH swap open. Come and check it out!

Morning sistahs!

Poor Kel didn'thave any rest. Came home, changed into everyday clothes and brought dMIL (d for??? ) to her ortho surgeoon which is conveniently an hour away.
He'd be stuck there for hours and won't have the sleep he needs for work tonight.
This lady had deliberately antagonized her relatives and neigbours that none would help. Her other son would help with the dad's appointments, but since the death, he won't have anything to do with their mother.
I know the weeks that I'm supposed to take care of her won't be a holiday. I'm prepared with some Pearl S. Buck and Amy Tan!! Thought of setting up my portable sewing machine there, but I don't want to hear complains that the noise would bother her or there's too much scraps laying around.

Kel normally would have MTFSS on alternate weeks off. If he had incurred extra hours on his work days, instead of giving him OT pay, they'd add up the hours and give him offs. He had arranged 2 weeks of off days that remarkably will use 4 "OT" days. He could apply for FMLA leave, but that leave means no pay.

I am glad that I don't have to sleep over, just him!! By the time I get home, my brains would be spent!! So be prepared sistahs if you all don't hear anything from me for at least 2 weeks!!

That's my 'speech' for the day.

Hot and humid here.

Hope all will have a better Thursday.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Waving here!

We're about to be swamped! We've had so much rain...guess it's time to build that ark!

It did stop long enough for me to pot up some plants for the G/C plant sale on Saturday.

Tonight is the rehearsal and dinner for DGD, Kaitlyn and Ian. They're getting married at the Dayton Art Institute and the dinner will be at the Packard Museum. I'm picking up one of her other grandmothers. Bill isn't going. Should be fun.

Guess I'm going to break down and start a Facebook page. Lord, I'll never get anything done then!! How many of you are on Facebook?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hope Kel gets a nap in today! When is her surgery? Sending prayers for all!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I think most of us are on Facebook. I think Pegi and Susan don't use it very often?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Jaye....I feel your pain! :-)

'Bout time you got on Facebook Joyce.

We had a really hard rain storm last night and needless to say more limbs down. If only my lawn man could get me worked into his schedule!!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Sissy, I'm on Facebook. It poured here all day yesterday, now it's cool out today. They said unseasonably cold tonite. In the40's.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh Marion, at least my tolerance is for a couple of weeks. Touch wood!
By the way, you posted it's Choccie Cookie day today? Should have warned me, I'm out of choco chips, so I'll do ice cream!

Yes Cookie, time for you to get involved on FB. We will find you once you sign up.

Rain was predicted for Monday, Tuesday and yesterday. Didn't rain one drop and lo and behold it starts raining now.
Better late than never! I'll do 40s Sis!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

It has been cool here. We broke the record low for yesterday and today. Both mornings it has been in the mid 40's when we get up.
Who has the chocolate chip cookies?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

You have my weather LK, and I have yours!! Maybe God knows how bad you want a red maple tree.

>>>>>Marion.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

LOL!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm afraid I've lost two of my 14 Japanese Maples. 😢

Cold and soggy here.

Sissy, my brugs look happy! Guess they wanted to be in the ground!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Couldn't resist sending that!😺

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

How did that happened Cookie?? Your maple trees are the reason why I got some! Plenty of greens here, but no reds.

Aww how cute that little kitty. I have only one that doesn't mind baths.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Update on Jess .Our prayers are working for Jess, the bleeding on brain has stop! But he still sleeps a lot.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh good news on Jess. Sleep may be helping in the healing process.

We had the worst winter here in 35 years. We've been spoiled! Lost most everything new I planted last year. That was a bummer since one thing was my Pride and Joy hosta that I paid 45 bucks for!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear the good update on Jess!

Sorry to hear you lost some plants Cookie!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Nope, I don't have the cookies....just stated it is National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day. Hummm, to bad I found out to late or I just might have baked some. :-)

Cookie, so sorry about your Japanese Red Maples...I only have 2 but they are doing well so far...wish I could say as much for my hydrangeas.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Baking cookies here.
