if that makes you happy wait until I put the 2 little boys fishing in the river in the summer scene lol
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends old&new
Barb Warren loved brightly coloured flowers especially yellow begonias and wavy red petunias. I used to do a big Begonia barrel right by the front door every year just for Warren's pleasure.
Right there with you M and Betty about not being able to do all the physical activities and chores I used to do. I tried to split some wood with an axe a few weeks ago - pathetic. While not at Warren's caliber I could wield a fine axe...... not any more. I have a small electric splitter that I use now when I need something done over and above the splitting Steve and I do when we cut and split the logs.
Wise lady Betty to put the saw away. Just like SG you get to a point on a piece and you just know you had better stop or you will be adding extra time not necessary to complete the piece.
Debbie how are your toes???? lol
Dianne
Now what did Debbie do to her toes?
Smilling, don't know how many times I've looked at a stained glas project in the works and it looked 'yuk' then comes the soldering 'yuk' then add pattina and wow, loved it!
Ann, Rita and I were saying if we could find a half decent worker, not asking for the moon in wages we 3 should hire him..would have enough work at 3 places to keep him busy.
Was just ready about the young man (swimmer) deans list who got killed by tornado in Tupelo..girlfriend standing nearby wasn't hurt at all.
LOL I will let her tell you. Nothing painful just messy. Lets just say her morning did not start well.
Well I took a leap and got another dog today. I've been wavering, love Molly to death but so missed having a lap buddy. This morning on CL saw what was listed as a pure Cocker Spaniel and her pup. She was listed as 3 years old but when I saw her I found a lot of what I was told just wasn't so. She is very sweet and is at the groomers right now. Poor baby was terribly stinky as was the car she came in....tells me how she was living. She's also 5 not three which is fine with me. Next appointment will be with the vet, no more puppies for her. Are you seeing where she came from? From now on she will be a lap princess. Her name is Lacey, at least they told the truth about that. Photo is how she is supposed to look and will when I go get her from the groomer.
Will wait then for Debbie to post about her adventures! Never a dull moment with our Debbie.
Ahhh Karen, Lacie is just too adorable..miss Sailor but then I think of my being away so often and think it just wouldn't be fair but how wonderful that you've saved her! A princess she will be for sure.
Omg winds have picked up even more than earlier, calling for 80-100 winds
Just noticed a few pillows blowing n the wind so out I went and put them all in the entrance way to basement..
Have chicken and roasted potatoes on but not up to eating..hooe Rita is hungry.
Tummy is churning, hot bath and early to bed..not sleep, just to get comfy.
Sure hooe bad weather isn't in your neighborhood..please, please if you are but lurking just post a hi so we kow you are out of harms way.
Sun is shining and no wind here. Just about to make a Taco Bell run for supper. Bill and I have both worked ourselves to death today. Wish I had some more oomph to do more but poke me, I think I'm done!!
Have you ladies tried melatonin for sleeping? I can't believe what a difference it makes. I sleep so well one and I use to toss and turn all night.
Betty, are the trilliums blooming for you now, too?
No, but then I've not been up the pathway where they usually are...I'm surprised Dianne already has them in bloom
How far of a drive do you have for taco bell? Just think how beautiful it will look when it's all done Joyce, well worth the effort
Betty I love that saw.
Dianne sounds like the dog's keep you busy. Are your ribs healed?
Debbie what did you do to your toes?
Trilliums are not blooming just popped through the earth. Too darn cold!
Yes Joyce I tried melatonin - didn't work for me.
Oh Karen love your new pup. Looks like an excellent lap sitter to me.
LK my ribs have pretty much healed, only a twinge when I move too quickly while raking or tossing pieces of wood.
Rain just stopped - too late for me to do anything outside. It's very cold here too.
Sitting here with the heating pad on my back and side. Hopefully the warmth will lull me into being sleepy.
Dianne
Still hot but did have a thunderstorm move through today. We were still in town...2 doctor visits today. The "weaning" process is beginning to happen. I will be returning home on May 5. Right now I will go for a week trying to get her to adjust without me present. I can not even begin to tell you how excited I am! The psychiatrist and therapist want me to check with them toward the end of the week as it might be possible for me to stay home longer. Oh how I hope it works.
Reading about all the yard work has made me "antsy" to dig in the dirt. Ah, life's best therapy behind sewing!
Glad to hear things are working for you and Sue.
It is almost midnight....and I am wide awake!
I did NOT have a good start to the morning...as Dianne pointed out.
First, I forgot what I was doing....and poured a pitcher of water into the back of the coffee pot,
forgetting I had ALREADY done that....and had 8 cups of water to clean up!!! BUT....it got worse.
I was feeding the cats, dropped the can of catfood....which went upside down...all over the top of
my foot...in between my toes and everything!!! Only thing I could do....was hop to the kitchen sink, and stand on one leg.....putting the foot up in the sink....and wash it off. I was gagging sooooo bad!!! It was the kind that is shredded with gravy....egggads!!!
SO...my toes felt horrible! LOL
Has been a rough day...but that...was the start of it.
Going to bed....sweet dreams my family
Debbie
Oh Deb !!! I sure do hope today has started on a different note!!!! That was no fun that's for sure. How are the toes today? No lasting effects???
Went and got the car serviced yesterday and then I came home and sat and read for the whole afternoon! I haven't done that or taken the time to read anything in so long. It was great. I might do that again today as it is a rainy, dreary day here.
So glad to hear you are recuperating with your ribs Dianne. It is a shame that this spring is so cold and means you need to have the stove going. Our WL said we would be 15-20 degrees below normal all this week. I need, and I'm sure you do too, spring to get here NOW......
Morning ..
Wet and cool here, but, the moisture is in the form of rain, and, LOTS of it ..
Dianne, ribs take so long to be fully healed .. hope you got some rest.
I'll have to check out our Trillium patch, but, I think it's still under snow ..
Debbie, ish, ish ish ... be kinda like steppin in puppy poo when your training them, think they've 'got it', and ya get up and land in 'ground zero' !!
Not a good start to a day ..
Marion .. best of luck letting the tether lengthen .. when I got home from Winnipeg from caring for my friend, SHE called me to see if I was OK .. I knew then that she'd be just fine.
I forgot to mention the young man that was shot is in my prayers, any news?
A colleague had back surgery yesterday, getting updates on FBook as to her status .. I most certainly hope it was successful, she has put up with back pain for so long ..
Heading into town to the gym, and some grocery shopping ...
Toodles

Janice's son is doing well, was released from hospital as he is very claustrophobic and it was more stressful for him to be there. He got a concussion and some stitches, also his shoulder is very sore from falling. All in all a very lucky family.
So glad to hear that....
Oh Debbie, I'm so sorry you had such a bad start yesterday, but it did give me a chuckle. I'm just glad to know someone else has those kinds of day, too!
Walmart has a time release Melatonin. Might be worth a try.
Trying to get things in shape for next Tuesday. Garden club is coming here, so need not only out but in to be in shape! Plus we're going to make hypertufa troughs so I have to get all the supplies ready for that as well! Big sigh....
Thanks for the update Karen .. good to hear he's doing well ..
Joyce, sounds like a BIG endeavour for you, gads, we still have snow around the property, and, add too that HUGE puddles from the rain we;re getting, and there's nuttin happening around here for a bit.
Have decided against the gym, heading for the border to pick up 2 parcels, then back in to the dollar store to pick up a few items .. it's an hour to the border ..
DH is teaching a class for a friend today, but, he'll be home by noon .. hate leaving the animals alone ..
So,, arrivederci ^_^
~M~
Great news re Janice's son..omg to think of how it could have ended brings shivers..prayers do work!
I can see you Joyce working outside by candlelight getting things in order.
can you d-mail me recipe again, think first recipe you found didn't have proper measurements..am sure that if I look long and hard I'd find it lol
Debbie, that is some morning you had, yuk and double yuk re the food on your foot
felt same when I had to pull dead white soggy froggies from the pond.
here's hoping today is a better day
I had a stare down with the coffee pot this morning and made tea instead. lol Kyle was up early and he fed the cats for me. So I win! lol Morning isn't over yet....but we have another soggy rain going on.
I was happy to read Janices' son was home....what a close call, and so scary.
I am so happy to see flowers popping up here and there...but my hens and chicks are just rotted!!!
Anyone else have this problem? I peeled off all the black/dead part that had molded too. So I hope they start coming back, was so beautiful last year.
Sipping my tea...will check back in
Raining here as well Debbie
hens and chicks that were in hypertufa containers I made look great, maybe there is still time for them to step up to the plate.
Morning everyone, I am back home. Dr.'s are telling Heather she may have Lupus and will have to go through a lot of testing to find out for sure. Now she is freaking out because she just knows she has something really bad. I tried to tell her Lupus is not the end of the world, and if that is what she has it can be controlled with meds. She is still uneasy till she gets definite answers!
Lupus manifests itself in many ways. It's best to wait until testing is done to see exactly what she is dealing with.
No sense telling her not to fret LindaKay, how can one not...but there are so many things out there on the market and if she does as told she will be ok
More I'm painting this sawblade the more I'm hating it!
I thought it looked wonderful. You're too hard on yourself.
Just talked to the carpet guy. He said the carpet was in and would schedule me for sometime next week. I reminded him about my meeting here on Tuesday and he said he'd try to get me by this weekend. Sure hope so! I'd hate to see them laying carpet on Tuesday!!!
Betty for troughs it's 3 parts sieved peat moss, 3 parts perlite and 2 1/2 parts Portland cement. I think there will be about 18 making troughs so I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to mix all that in! Should be interesting!
Today I cleaned my garden phlox and Dames Rocket. Boy does that bed look better. Now I'm working on the bed with the tree peonies. I counted the buds on my fuchsia colored one and there are 21. Should be glorious when it blooms. New last year yellow one has 6 buds on it. Yay!
Joyce I really am envious, so want a tree peony..perhaps this year! Hard to come by here and I think only a few nurseries carry them and as soon as they arrive they are gone.
Seeing I'm doing this for free and already have 20 hours into it he'll have to take it and like it..just not something I like painting.
Thanks for recipe, have some fibre glass to put inside that Rita got for me so maybe if it stops raining over the weekend I'll try to make a few...what are you using for your troughs?
Sure hope the rug is in but if not I'm sure the girls would understand but you would be disappointed.
stopped raining right now but sure it's about to start again. Was going out to put up the flying canada geese trio that fell yesterday but think I'll wait until this inclement weather passes us by.
I think the saw looks amazing!
Good job, well done ^_^
20 hours is lots of time to donate to another person ..
Still raining here, some country roads are closed ( not ours )
Got to the border, picked up the parcels, had to pay DUTY this time v.. usually never happens.
Quite happy with the purchases (clothes)
My Hens and chicks are doing very well .. happy to say..
Off to my Scrabble tournament
~M~
Betty, that saw is awesome. He is going to love it.
I think it came out great Betty. He is a moron if he doesn't like it!!!!
Greg and Mel dropped in, I was already in bed
Asked if I wanted to do to Rita's and see the progress and drop off the saw. Off I went in my nighty. Lol
Young man the saw has been off work for two days so Greg just dropped it off at front door then off to Rita's. What a great job she is doing with her place, Greg gave her some suggestions and told her he would run gas lines for her stove and dryer, glad he offered.
She said she would likely put another hour or so painting cupboards then would call it a night and head home (my place)
Contractor thinks everything should be done mid May so she is hoping they will be on schedule.
Here I sit wide awake no sign or feeling of wanting to sleep. On Tues. night I fell asleep shortly after 9 pm only to wake up to watch Jimmy Fallon and the rest of the late night shows. Sigh. I swear in my next life I am coming back a sleeper.
Earlier tonight I looked out the window and didn't know whether to laugh or cry. There was Diesel in all his glory rocking and a rolling in a freshly dug garden. He was having a blast! Rolling on his back then turning over and jumping up and down on all 4 paws at once.i was just getting Duke on his leash so we could go outside. It had rained all night and day so you can imagine the mess he was. Fortunately we have a hot water tap outlet outside and I was able to hose him down. Now I have to put up with the smell of wet dog! Diesel had such fun I don't even mind that.
Joyce hope you do get your new carpet in before your guests arrive.
So how much snow do you have left M on the ground? I found a wee bit of snow and ice way back in the bush yesterday under some trees.Everything else is gone.
Mary when is it you go to Disney?
Think I might just go make some soup. Love cream of anything and I have some spuds here that need to be used.
Stay safe and well everyone.
Dianne
Morning all, its May flowers to come!!
Dianne, so hoping you are sleeping, nothing worse than wanting to sleep so bad and can't. What did you end up cooking? Hard to be mad with Diesel, been a long winter confined, now it's playtime but the smell. Yuk, have to use up a bottle of fabreeze.
Riley has started her nightly outings, just let her in and she is soaken wet, not much of a smell to her but am wondering what bed she will go lay on, hooe not mine, white quilt will be black..furries...
Rained all night and will continue to do so for days to come..won't be long there will be leVes on the trees and then we can say spring is here. Birds sure are singing this mornimg, best I put out more seed.
Coffee awaits
Morning has broken, and a new day (dull as it is) is upon us ..
Wet,but, NO snow.
Dianne, several areas in the woods still have a cover of snow, and, most of the North facing property has a band of it yet to melt into the muck and mire.
Good ol Diesel, LOL , our 2 WHITE dogs tend to roll in ANY patch of snow/ikk they can find, most especially Miss Lilly !! Must be like having a cool shower ..
On the watch here for skunks .. don't want either of them (or us) to be christened !
Betty, I think Lorna's folks have had lots of rain too, her Mom is gearing up to start MOWING the lawns !!!
Be a bit for that here ..
Gym today, Shoppers, and groceries ..
BLAST, here comes that darned WIND again .. am thinking the wedding we are going to on Saturday will be a bit chilly .. perhaps not ..
DH leaves for the last Sportsman's Show in SW Ontario (Fort Frances) tomorrow morning, back Saturday evening ..
HAPPY MAY !!!! Rabbit, Rabbit ^_^
~M~
I'm so glad our snow is gone. Busted my butt in the garden yesterday. Really starting to look better but so much more to do!
You sure will miss Rita, Betty. I love the saw. I think I would have wanted to see his face when he gets it.
Ok, need to jump in the shower. House cleaning this morning.
Morning everyone!
Don't work too hard Cookie!
Miss Lacey is settling in like she's always been here. Once we got grooming and vet visit out of the way she's a peppy girl. Funny poor baby doesn't seem to know what a toy or treat is though. I don't think she had much fun before, hoping to change that. She has become my shadow, even goes to the bathroom with me.
"M" thankfully Lorna's folks are not flying out today, say the fog is heavy and will be till around noon, likely a lot of flights cancelled. Have on my 'to do' list for Mothers Day having the lawnmowers checked over because yes, won't be long and I'll be cutting grass. Both you and Gord will be glad to see the shows behind you..how long of a drive is Fort Francces?
Even though Joyce all the gardens are cleared of leaves and last years dead growth still looks so yukky out there. If it could only stop raining..
Because Rita looks over Georgian Bay she said we should use my home as a 'winter' home and her place as the 'cottage'..think she's worried to be for the very first time living just on her own.
LindaKay, bet you have ideal weather today right?
Ahhh Karen, so nice to hear..Miss Lacey will think she's in heaven living with you..nice to have a furry companion. You almost make me want to go the the ASPC Shelter in Midland to look what they have, so don't want to right now though. Maybe I'll tell Greg/Mel to bring the Labradoodles over for a visit with Grandma!
Can we get a picture of Miss Lacey please? Would love to see her.
I am the resident animal nut here. lol
