Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends old&new
Just called the Pizzeria, spoke with owner to see who the man is that does their clean up. Buddy is his name, apparently he does a lot of work for them at home..nothing but good to say about him. He goes for pizza a few times a week so she will have him call me.
Won't be long the two cookbook panels will be done, had a few thoughts re name
How's this
A Taste Of Home
Love that name!! Also "Cooking with Love - A Family Treasure". Just thoughts!!!
Sounds like a plan regarding the furniture for outside. I can picture it all!!!!
Sean was here as it is school vacation week here in parts of NH. Some schools had it last week. I usually try to have him here for at least a couple of days then. I miss the little guy.
Horse show this Saturday to watch Brandon ride. Haven't done that in ages.... Then Tuesday to watch Sean play ball. I believe Madison has one more band concert as does Brandon but Sophia's gymnastics is over for the year. Trying to juggle and show them all the same attention is sometimes a circus. As long as they all know how loved they are is the important thing I guess.
Back to the sewing machine~~~~~~
I like that name Betty!
Barb, it is hard to divide your time for all the kids sometimes. Especially when I have to drive 160 miles one way to see them.
Drats, I would have loved that title barb, already sketched it on the wood..hmm maybe I can a dd it to the back where I sign it..
Linda Kay, hard when they live away..Kyle now he drives drops in a lot, now that winter is over and Noah has his motor bike I will see him more but life goes on, we do what we can for visits..
Someone asked why I didn't get the grandsons to rake..easily answered..with them in school, working evenings and weekends it's just too much to ask
Besides don't want them thinking each time they visit they have work to do
Another day, another extra strength tylenol night to some LoL
We have so amny pine needles and pine cones to rake up .. and spent seeds as well .. got 8 bags done today and called it good .. Lorna is a slave driver !!
Looks so nice though ..
Hens and Chicks are up in the perennial bed .. kinda blew me away that !
Had a wonderful walk with the dogs at the Marina .. met other 'doggers' out enjoying the beautiful spring day .. no one wanted to mention the SNOW that is predicted ..
Went to GNC, a health food/supplement place .. bought something called INSTAFLEX .. have a good friend who uses it and really relies on it .. it's for joints .. expensove, but, worth it if it works ..
DH has cooked ribs for supper, I'm off to make some salsa rice

You know Betty? With all you do for them it sure wouldn't hurt them to give you one day a month of help. I'm sure if you asked, they would find it in their hearts to make time for you. A few times a year I just put out a general call for help here. getting the boats in or out, felling trees, painting or what ever and can count on several of the kids and grands showing up ready and willing to help. Not always the same ones but always appreciated.
That "s" word had better change to sunshine.
Talk about high winds..even though sun is out its c o l d..
Was tempted to go outside and rake, decided not to, was going to take the box out of the car and put some of it together, decided not to , thought maybe I could at least go downstairs and sew the glider cover but I'm almost at the point of saying 'not'
Aren't you thinking Betty is Having a lazy on?
"M" will be interesting to hear how the installed work.
Linda called me, sent me photo's of her knee..they injected her with a new on the market gel, she said she has never been in so much pain, she who was in 3 accidents, back fused, leg broken in several places etc and this shot is worse. Said she screamed so loud when she got it last night that the entire hospital heard her.
5 or 6 years ago I did yard work on the side. I charged $20.00 for 1st hour, $10.00 per hour, or any part of hour after that. so if I worked 2 1/2 hrs I charged $40.00. trimmed hedges, pulled weeds, planted annuals / perennials, put down mulch.. etc. Did a lot of work in the villages. they always wanted new plants. I charged an extra $25.00 if I met them at the store to pick up supplies.
Ryleigh is doing much better. Dr office cancelled her re-check appointment. have not rescheduled !!!! NOT happy about that. DIL seems to think it is ok??!! what do I know??!!
I try not to interfere.
they spent Easter at the Fire Dept. DIL, and a friend of hers volunteered to cook for all the folks that had to work. some of them had their kids there, and the volunteers brought their kids!! they climbed on the trucks, tried on fire jackets!!! had a blast
Aw....really adorable pictures!
Oh Thunder!!! They are getting so big!!! And they are sooo cute!!! Hopefully not rescheduling an appointment means they think she is recovering okay. Me? I'd be making the appointment to make sure!!!
Wow thunder, they are just too adorable! Our fire department did much the same, kids have a special like to fire trucks don't they...
Hmm, I'd be worrying right along with you but as you say 'what do we know'? Lol
Wasn't sure as to the $20/hr but now you've given me what is charged for same in USA I better accept it will not get done for lesser fee..will wait for Buddy to call and if he can't do it I will call the lady Bernice next door recommended.
Love the pond Joyce, but you are more at peace hearing it's sounds..drats, reminds me I have two to clean and get running...think you had better come Orth and help me out. Lol
I'm so smiling here remembering you and me playing in your pond last year. We goterdone, huh?
Sure did Joyce..
Let's hope there was no settling and it need leveling again.
Luckily this year I've hip waiters so that will help..
Looked at the pea tree we bought, looks dry but then it's early, could be sleeping.
How is your little plant you got same day, did it survive?
Noah was here for a visit then Melanie picked him up, on their way to Barrie, it's Noah's girlfriends birthday, she wanted a 6'stuffed teddy..what to heck would you want a 6' bear for??
Oh my... That will take up a lot of room!
I'll do that, LK!
Pretty sure it's toast. Looks mushy. My regular Bears Britches is coming back though.
G'day ^_^
LindaK how are you doing? Good heavens, I feel so bad for what you went through, I so hope it helps after all that ..
BIG hugs !!
Waiting on the rain/snow/freezing rain to start to fall .. DH and his buds leave for a spring Sportsmans Show just south of Winnipeg tomorrow, I SO hope this weather heads off somewhere else!!
Betty, i will have to tough out the INSTAFLEX, it has a small amount of cayenne pepper in it, kinda burns the belly, but, I am going to stick with it !!
Off to the gym

Morning all,
"M" let me know how it works.. The Linda I spoke about was my SIL/cousin that I Tavel with..was raised next door to her, then she married roger's brother...hoping she can get all. Der control so she doesn't have to cancel out 2014 roadtrip..she is so much fun to travel with
On the cool side this morning but no snow in forecast..
Just daylight when i decided to get at it..box with patio set was to heavy to lift, cut the box open still in my trunk and took each piece inside this morning..see, am learning not to lift th gs on my own.
Morning everyone. Going to be another warm day today.
Betty glad to hear your taking it easy.
Might have rested but just called Greg to go buy me a pump and hose to get rid of water in the ponds, normally I use my water feature to do it but don't want to use it because it's just to expensive to use with all the sludge..hopefully he will pick it up today as I am planning to get them up and running this weekend, sarin or shine.
Are you still taking it easy Betty????
I just got back from auto dealer - needed state inspection and oil change. I was pleasantly reminded that my inspection and car wash was for free because we bought the vehicle there!
I love surprises like that. It is very windy here which takes my breath away but I used a scarf over my face....
So now I'm back to the sewing machine. Going to pull some fabrics for these walker bags. Get the cloth washed today and hopefully sew a bit tomorrow. Also have knitting group then so maybe won't get too much done. Busy weekend coming up with horses on Sat and maybe baseball on Sunday. It feels so good to be able to DO again.... Just wish the wind would stop!
I took one walker bag to a local care home to make sure that design was OK.. I was mobbed, everyone loved it and now I need to get back in there and sew some more as they are waiting for them.
Karen, sounds like you will be busy!
Betty, how are the twins doing?
Barb, I like those kind of freebies!
Just made 3 more in about 1 1/2 hours. But that's my limit for sitting at the machine so will do more tomorrow.
Been having some probs accessing Daves?
Very slow, or, just can't get on ..
But I am now ..
Karen, is there a pic of the walker basket/holder? Lorna uses a rollator walker at times, with a METAL basket ..
Have been awaiting a HUGE storm., it still has to arrive, but, if you believe what's being said, it's going to be a real dandy !! I, however .. belong to Dianne's WEATHER LIAR club .. that said, we'll hopefully NOT waken to 5"+ of heavy wet snow ..
Lorna did well at the gym, does a hard work out for over an hour, and, has gotten herself a 'fan club' of sorts .. many people are so curious about her leg, some hang back and wonder, whereas as many come right out and ask what happened .. she's easy with either type.
WOO HOO to a free car wash Barb .. ^_^
Best get a bustle on
Toodles

"M", this is one Karen made, and the link is a you tube video, that shows how to make them. Super easy!

Looks as though we are all tired tonight!
Just had a hot bath, pain killer, sipping a hot chocolate and to bed I go.
If one can talk of their bad habits knowing they are indeed bad habits then I will..I have no patience, none at all when it comes to certain things..know raking is too hard on my shoulders etc and I've been waiting to find someone..put feelers out to 2 people, no response so decided I'm not sitting lookng at the work that needs done and is not so put in 4 hrs of hard labour..two gardens near back shed are done, side of shed, garden in front of back porch done, been picking up any wood piece I can find and in the fire it went, Lordy I did smell like smoke.
Figure if I put in 4 hrs tomorrow, again Saturday and Sunday the raking will be done ..weeding I can do here and there.
This afternoon made the cover for the metal live love seat rocker, too tired to go out and see how it fits..tomorrow is another day.
"M" here is hoping the storm misses you..did you mark down when you got the last snow fall last year? Bet the curiosity re Lorna is more what she is able to do, her fortitude, the not giving up for one minute...she is a brave lady!
Karen you are just a sew wonder, look at you go. I bought a pattern months ago, easy as they come I believe but just haven't got to it..once I catch up on yard duty will start making a few...hope you share a poto of them
Bedtime
I put a photo of the first on on the thread but will do one here too. Cannot believe how fat and easy these are. Made 3 in 2 1/2 hours.
I used some denim that was given to me but any heavy weight fabric will do. Like upholstery fabric. I also have some suede like fabric I'm going to use for some for the men.

OMG! and OMG again ..
We got THUMPED overnight and it's still going!!
Heavy, wet globby snow .. the poor evergreens are bent right over, we'll likely lose a few.
Schools are closed, power out in some araes, our was out for an hour ..
DH is STILL planning on taking off west for the Sportsmans Show .. his buds haven't called to cancel .. the trucks all have 4 wheel drive, and, I am HOPING the main highways ae being plowed ..
I'll post a pic or 2 later ..
Betty, hope you feel OK today ..
LOVE the walker pockets .. will have a friend take a look at the video, I haven't got anything but needles and thread and hands LoL
Off to shovel again
Toodles
~M~
PS we have over 6inches of snow so far
Oh no "M" you won't have to worry when the 1st snowfall will be, it will just continue from 2014 to 2015..be a short spring/summer for you. If you give me a week or so to get the leaves raked and ponds up and running I'll make one for Lorna and sent it off next time I'm in USA..yep, cheaper to mail from USA to Canada than from Canada. I'll post fabrics and she can pick.
Maybe Gord should stay home, even with a 4 wheel drive roads can be treacherous.
I have to take the snow tires off but am holding out for a few more weeks just in case.
Rita and I were out at 6:30 for an hour raking and picking up piles of leaves before the rain comes, besides the winds are so strong likely blow leaves back into the gardens.
Came in and decided to have coffee on back deck, told Rita we'd sit and chat before both got at our day's 'to do', got the coffee and didn't sit, started to take down winter covering of back deck..did a 1/3 of it..bit at a time.
Did hurt badly last night, nothing 2 pain killers couldn't help with.
Made a goal for the weekend and if done I'll be thrilled
. empty both ponds so they can be cleaned up. DONE
. put gazebo top on DONE
. put the patio set together I bought for the back deck (will now be put on front deck). DONE
. make 10 pillow covers with outdoor fabric..give pillows a new look.. Did 12. DONE
. rake 2 more gardens. DONE
If I get that done I'll be a happy camper!!!
NOTE. Hurting but got all done as per my to do list with yet another day to go
Wishful thinking to hope to clean ponds, fill and get water feature going
How about you all, what do you have planned for today and the weekend..

About that mail thing....Bill says: weird, eh? 😋
Betty, when you were saying what you did yesterday I thought oh wow she will pay for that in body aches and pain!!
Marilyn, I'm so sorry you're getting stomped on once again. Mother Nature doesn't have a very good sense of humor!
Tomorrow the living room will get a coat of Kilz. Then Sunday the plan is to either paint final color or Kilz again if needed.
It's raining here this morning. I left my tools and gloves laying out and the fusions on the swing. Drat!
Oh No! Marilynne, Hoping that heavy wet stuff will go away soon. We got a few scattered flakes but nothing that stuck. I keep hoping it will be the last and then we get some more. I know at the very least a month before we can put plants out and get some tomatoes.
Looks like winter "M"! I know you have had enough of that winter weather. I hope it gets warm for you soon!
Betty, don't over do it, you don't need to be in so much pain you have to take two pain pills!
Did you ever go back to your Dr.? Don't forget to take your blood pressure meds too!
Not doing much here, I need to get out in the gardens and finish cleaning them up before we hit 98 again today! Fresh hummer food is cooled so I need to fill the feeders.
Aw, I'm jealous! We won't see hummers here for another month!
98? Seriously? Is that early to be so hot or normal?
Sooo don't like lookng at those photo's .. Poor you!
NOTHING had better come in the mail..people can do things for friend without having to be compensated, besides there was already a package heading your way.
LindaKay, I love warm weather but that is a bit too hot for me..my ideal weather is high 70's to low 80's..is your gardening almost done? Does hubby help you? Usually have hummer mid summer, want to plant a few other flowers to attract them..what do you all plant? As for my pain, accepted it, just the way it will be.
Joyce, bet you are sitting pretty re your gardens...what color are you painting and what color is the rug..that is quite a large room to do..still remember your dad sitting in the far corner looking at my flowers, smilling here.
As for posting our stamps just went sky high..will be doing any posting I need done from USA.
Wow, winds are strong enough to carry me away..so glad Rita and I got the leave piles picked up.
Well, got the coffee table and one chair out together..all goes well I should be done by 11am.
We have had hummers for more than a month now, and 98 is normal for us!
Garden beds are almost cleaned up, but most of my plants look like they did not make it through the winter. So far I have 2 of 8 bougainvillea that have popped up. So I may have to go shopping and see what I can get for the raised bed. I have sunflower seeds planted, They should pop up any day now. My roses are doing pretty good, so far I have 3 that look dead. Todd helps once in awhile, but this year, Andy is working on a new smaller raised bed for me, in the front yard against the ugly chain fence we have. He will put a privacy fence when it is all done. Just have to wait for him to come back in two weeks.
