Moving us over from here

Sorry it's a winter wonderland view from the chesterfield..whose room is sunny and bright that we can sit in??
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends old&new
We got up to snow cover today as well. Hard to believe two days ago I was working the garden in shorts and spaghetti strap top!
Regular Dr. Checkup today then garden club. I'll stop back in later.
Have a wonderful day!
No sun here, sorry.
Barb a very happy to Norm and your brother even though he doesn't want one. Tell him it's better than the alternative.
Yes please Barb, do be careful going out, it can turn ugly rather quickly. Do you have someone who can go with you, aside from Norm, that is?
I go back to my Dr. on Fri., sure hope I have more gumption by then, still weak and useless feeling.
It's so hard to get your strength back after being down like that. Trouble is, the best way to get it back is to move around and you absolutely feel like you can't!
Darned ole Catch 22.
Morning everyone!
Barb, Happy Birthday to Norm and your Brother also!
Sure hope those snow storms move through quickly for you.
Woke up to sleet and freezing rain about 6:30....turned over and went back to sleep. I woke up again to a world covered in white. I am going to just deny it is out there....not look out the windows and just wait til it melts.
The last time my world was covered in white it was because the dogs had torn open a very large bag of perlite and made "snow" all over the yard.
We are pushing - but not very hard - to get done what we can before the real heat sets in. Weather is great now and I'm almost all better from the tooth extraction. Still having trouble sleeping. Slept solidly for about two hours last night - then woke up. Slept off and on the rest of the night.
Neighbors' cat Loca, who visits a lot, has gone missing.
Time to have coffee and get dressed in work clothes. And see what happens.
hugs, katie
Went to the store just as it started to sprinkle. Got home again before it started to pour. Now it is off and on as the day progresses. Spent the rest of the morning looking for batik backing for Brandon's grad quilt.
Now tuned in for the tribute regarding the Boston bombings last year. Such an emotional time and these survivors have come so far. I can only relate them to Lorna and the problems she has gone through with her leg. God bless them all. I just wish Lorna was getting the financial support that these folks are getting. I don't begrudge them the help - I just wish it was for everyone in that position....
Thanks Betty for the new room. I appreciate it.
We did have some of Debbie's sleet earlier this morning but it is just snowing now. Just snowing ..... now why does that want to make me laugh my fool head off???? The temperature has dropped 24* since 6 PM last night. Yep the wood stove is cranked back up.
The lane is just impossible. Those who have to get out for work are parking up on the township road and either using a canoe or hiking up into the sugar bush to get around the flooded area. The water is about 3 ft deep in some areas but after today's weather I am positive it will be even deeper. The ducks and beaver have taken that portion of the lane over and are making it theirs. The lane hasn't flooded like this since the early 80's.This is just an indication of how harsh our winter was this year. Not only is there flooding on private lanes the township roads are flooded right out in some areas and several buildings in the village are like islands. We are all thankful that we are no where near the water depths that the Belleville area is experiencing. The peepers are out every night joyfully peeping away, I wish the Weather gods would listen to them.
Along with having the peepers to listen to another good thing is the pups and I are able to get back out there walking. Man am I out of shape.! Makes me chuckle to see both Duke and Diesel are a tad winded after some of our longer walks - at least it is just not me. I do need a new pair of wellies though as these ones seem to have sprung a leak.
Happy belated birthday Bev. Hope your day was everything you wanted it to be and more.
Barb do you have something in mind for Norm's present? Does he request a special meal and dessert?
Susan I can't remember... have you started your job yet?
Karen how are you feeling as the day progresses? Sure hope things are improving for you. You do so much for everyone else, did you forget to take care of yourself?
Where are you going out for dinner to Betty?
Geese are honking, ducks are quacking and Duke is hopping up and down by the door so I better get off of here and get the pups outside. Places to go, birds and animals to see they say!
Dianne
I'm feeling some better every day Dianne, thanks. I just ignored this for too long hoping it would go away.
Hoping your flooding goes back down. We are high and dry but there was flooding in the area along the rivers. Now if the snow would just go back where it belongs.
Norm wants to go out for dinner so that makes it easy for me. Presents are a different story. Norm is one of those guys who goes and gets what he needs/sometimes wants when he wants it!!! He is the hardest person in the world to buy something for and I have no idea even now what I will do for him.... (He got the first quilt!!! LOL)
Walt & I are much the same. So much so that I'll just say OK I'm all set on my birthday...after a shopping spree. We used to gift each other but not so much any more. Now I'm at the stage where I'm passing some of my favorites things on to ones I know will enjoy them. So far between mine and my mothers jewelry, I've provided three oldest grandsons with either rings or stones for their brides. Nothing great or huge but they all seemed to like what they have.
Afternoon all,
brrr it's cold
girls were coming today so went out and shovelled a pathway, have a feeling the Easter Bunny won't be able to lay eggs for the little ones this weekend!
Was sure the girls wouldn't come but lo and behold they did
Pat was working away on a wooden recipe book..by the time she left it was finished..final coat of matt covering she will do at home.
Barb, Ann waves 'hello'
She was also finishing a recipe book
Aline finished her lighthouse, drats, didn't get a photo
Got a photo of Ann's piece
Feel so bad for June, both her wrists are finished, operation after operation, unable to hold anything BUT she manages somewhat..trying to knit a sweater for great great grandson.
While chatting away Rita was trying to work, don't think she accomplished much.
I ordered a pizza, yummy, enough left over for tonight...hurrah, no cooking again.
Always a fun time with these gals as well as mega laughs
worked on a bag, Missouri Quilt Tutorial ,not sure I like this kind so will give it to a little girl, am sure she can tote around some toys in it!
Girls told me my painting sabbatical is over, time to get some painting done so got 2 recipe covers basecoated, tonight I'll sit and set the pattern on..something to do when I'm tired of sewing..does that ever happen?
posted photo's, going upstairs for hot chocolate and warm up then will be back to chat
Seeing June trying to knit reminds me of my grandmother. One time the garage door wouldn't open properly and while trying to get the spring to work, it popped off and took a chunk out of everyone of her finger tips. I felt so bad for her, I rushed to her house to see what I could do to help. When I walked in she was sitting with every finger heavily bandaged, trying to crochet. She was holding it just about like June is and managing.
My one DGD was horse crazy when she was small, she had tons of them and carried them everywhere she went. A bag like that would have been just right. Actually she grew up still horse crazy, did equestrian in 4H and through school and still has her horse.
Happy Belated Birthday, Bev!!
First day on the new job, and it went fabulously - the fellow (Les) training me is very nice, and was saying that we seem to have similar backgrounds (contract work, etc). I'm learning a program specific to my job (PowerChurch), and the 3 types of accounts I will need to deal with - Regional, etc.....
It's all very exciting. I have my own office, which is very nice, and I'm invited to personalize it.
Worked this morning, have tomorrow off, work full day Thurs, have Good Friday & Easter Monday off.
Tues Wed, full days; Thurs afternoon; Friday full day......
then it's Mon to Fri, whatever hours are needed - likely morning 9 to Noon.
Omg Susan, sounds like the perfect job..so happy for you!
Karen, are you resting?
Eyes are heavy, posted a bit ago, was actually going to have a nap and a friend dropped in, just left..sooo much socializing has made me tired.
Back to chat once I've had a hot bath and a nap
It does sound wonderful Susan, so happy for you.
Yes Betty, I'm resting, mainly because I simply have no stamina. Awfully bored with it, get up and walk around the house just to get a wee bit of exercise.
Takes a lot out of you for sure Karen, don't rush things.
Dianne, been watching BT and thinking of you. Been a long winter for Duke and Deisel, bet they had winter treats big time..how on earth have you managed all winter re groceries? Ice in front of your house gone or will it be June before it does..know you. Are you completely healed now?
Katie hen does the unbearable heat start, June? You are gaining strength so don't overdo, always cooler temps in the fall for you and tony to finish what is on your to do list.
Barb, much the same for us, when roger was alive we didn't do presents, something come to mind we wanted we would just go get it. Out for an evening is far better..girls today were all saying they would ask for no gifts re birthday,Christmas, Mothr's day as what do you do with it..
Me I ask for $$$, bad me, but always something I'm hankering to buy. Lol
WOW, busy place ^_^
Hugs and my best healing thoughts to those feeling a bit 'off' .. Katie and Karen come to mind ..
Dianne, all I can do is send you thoughts of DRY ground, and, as we both know, those drying grounds produce a veritable spa for mosquitoes (YUK)
My little village, Murillo, had a tremdous flood/wash out in 2012 .. roads washed away yadda yadda .. we rec'd Fed AND Prov monies and now have proper culverts in the township.
Was fer sure scary .. it was May 28th 2012 ..
Sure hope everything starts smartening up ..
We have been forecast (yeah right) to expect snow tomorrow evening ..
Gifts for the DH .. gift certificates ALWAYS .. both ways .. right size, style and colour !!
Not much earth shattering happening in my life .. shop/cook/wash/computer/bed hahahahaha
Be still my heart!
Have a Hospice client who likes to phone and chit chat .. I don't mind .. she's alone for the most part .. so .. it's like company to her .. have told her not to call past 8pm though, unless she really needs me and can't get anyone in her family.
Guess I should mosey ..
Sleep well
~M~
Trying to keep up with all the happenings here...not doing a very good job...shame on me.
We were supposed to have some rain but so far....nada, nothing! The winds, however, are a different matter. Hoping everyone is safe and doing okay.
The doctors have finally found a combination of medicines that are working for my sister. Much improvement but still some rough times. The therapist has started working on her beginning to cope with out me. I am very pleased with this approach as it might make it possible to go home about the first of May. Time will tell.
Morning all,
Marion, so hope things improve with Sue so you can travel home, nothing like being in your own home! Kim must be missing you .. Won't be long may will be here before you know it. How are you passing your days? Any outings with sue?
"M" your hospice client must have great faith in you. Poor dear, must be overwhelmed and just wants to chat.
Geezzz Louise, I must have been exhausted last night, layed down to watch a show just after 5', fell asleep immediately, woke up around nine, off to bed and slept right through. Imagine I'm still yawning..off for coffee/cereal then will go to the fabric shop downtown barrie, seems a big sale going on, winter blues sale with 40% off. Lol. Might be better than fabric lands
Good day ^_^
Chilly Willy day here that's for sure! Still predicting SNOW later this evening ..
Spoke with DH, and, Wisconsin is getting it right now .. he says it looks as though it is heading north, but, it still has to get OVER Lake Superior ..
So far he has helped his bud build a deer stand, and, do repairs on a shed he uses to warm up in ..
Great article on 'FORSYTHIAS' on Daves today .. ours is finally free of snow .. waiting for warm sun baths so she can bloom out ^_^
THEN, and ONLY then, is it spring ..
My Hospice client is a sweetie .. typical MOM, doesn't want to bother or burden her family with talk of what is to come ..
Marion sounds positive the turn of events with Sue .. I wish you both the strength and patience to see it through .. it would be so nice for you to be able to go home for a bit.
You're a wonderful sister ..
Dentall appt today .. just a cleaning .. still have to take the dang antibiotics before though, always make my tummy rumble ..
Lorna will drive me and we'll bring the dogs along for a ride ..
Take care all
Happy shopping Betty
~M~
It snowed here last night but only an inch or two. The sun just came out and it will all be gone soon. It turned cold though. Temps not to go higher than mid thirties.
Sending healing thoughts to all in need. Glad to hear you are getting better albeit slowly. Sometimes that is best though.
Got to play catch up on my BOMS - and finish up Brandon's borders. I was going to do that yesterday but a neighbor dropped in and then the Remembrance Ceremonies began for the Marathon Bombing. After that I just played on the computer until Norm came home. I haven't had a day like that in a long time where I just couldn't get back into the program. The senseless of these crimes is what gets to me I think.
Anyway - I'm off to the cutting table to get these border ready and then sewn.....Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
Tragic news here about the students stabbed to death in Calgary..your neck of the woods Susan..police said no reason in their history to be targetted..if I heard right, the killer is son of a police officer.
Bet you enjoyed your day Barb, nice having company...sewing can always be done later.
Had snow and freezing rain so it took me awhile to clean it off.
Sorry to hear of the killings Betty, so sad! Are you still working from home, or just taking time off?
"M", bless you for talking to your hospice patient. Bet she is very comfortable, knowing she has someone to talk to!
Marion, glad to hear the good report. Praying for a quick recover for Sue! Hope you get to go home in May!
Guys watch for the Forsythia to bloom, supposed to be a sign that it's time for the smelt to run. Of course they don't run like they used to many years ago when one dip would fill a 5 gallon bucket.
Feeling ever much better, still weak and wobbly but no nausea. Hubby hovers over me trying to get me to eat more but truly, I get so full so fast. Dinner last night was just a couple bites of roast pork and a serving of green beans. Really only wanted the beans but he was so proud of his job on the roast. Good thing DGS and wife are here to take the pressure off me.
Weather is still cold today but we are supposed to be on the up swing gradually. Lake started to thaw a bit around the edges and re froze. Saw a pair of cardinals this morning at the feeders, brightened my day.
Glad to see you post Karen. Please take it as easy as your mind will let you. It is hard I know to "just rest"!!!!!
The snow is gone! Cold but sunny... Glad I don't need to go out.
LindaKay just enjoying play time..just want to do less, getting old you know lol
Sunshine out, that's good. Can deal with - degree weather.
Best part of spring, seeing birdies and listening to them sing
Have some new feeders but want to wait a bit before putting them out. Reminds me though, need to buy more birdseed!
Karen, great that hubby is cooking, eat/eat/eat
WOOOOEEE .. what a day !!
Phone rang at 9:08am .. I thought OH NO , I'm late for my dental appt!
It was the denatl office, calling to tell me the hygenist was unwell, and, rebooking the appt .
I was SO HAPPY .. hadn't taken my antibiotics .. and we have a FREE day !
Loaded the doggies into the car and headed for the walking trails .. had a ball .. Lorna took pics, but, I haven't gotten to them yet .. I think Lilly's sniffer got a real workout .. Piper just likes to 'water everything' LoL
SOooooooooooooo, as Dianne would say, the 'WEATHER LIARS' are in full out strom garb right now .. if their predictions are correct .. by Saturday, we should be crawling out over mountains of snow !!!!
I choose NOT to believe them !!
They have had a very POOR track record so far this winter/spring ..
That said, I do have the shovel right by the back door 'in case'.
Karen, you sound better, just hope things progress favourably for you ..
Barb .. I LOVE the days I get when it's just me and the puter ^_^
So much sad news these days though .. the Korean Ferry that has sunk, the Calgary stabbings .. and, of course, the Boston Marathon Anniv ..
Hard to take in at times ..
LindaKay .. my Hospice client fills me up to overflowing with 'things to think about' .. a very astute young woman that's for sure ..
Guess I should think about making supper ..
TOODLES
~M~
Sunny day but very chilly. Wood stove is working hard. We spent much of the day outside much to all of our delight. Diesel had quite the day .... including chasing a beaver into the lake. Several trees are down near the bunkie so the beaver have been busy. The little devils actually removed chicken wire I had wrapped around 3 different trees. One tree is down and 2 are gnawed but I think if they leave the wire alone the trees will survive. Put the wire back around the trees and tomorrow I will take down some fence staples to help hold the wire in place. Duke is not given the freedom to roam yet like Diesel but he is getting better. He was off leash a few times today and he came back when called. Of course the liver treats in my hand probably helped his hasty return.
M like Lily Duke's sniffer got quite a workout today. You are right about all the sadness. I was especially saddened at the death of Jim Flaherty. We are the same age and his passing is just a reminder to make the most of every day.
Good to see you post Karen.
Susan I was delighted to read you are enjoying your new job and all the new things you have to learn.
Katie when does your "heat" season begin?
Will you celebrate Norm's BD tomorrow Barb or on the weekend?
Betty I keep quite a number of things on hand including milk that doesn't have to be refrigerated. I also have the luxury of having a young couple who live on the lane who will bring me anything I need when they come home from work. Right now I am driving up to the 'pond' every night to give them a lift home. They have 2 young kids and since they are walking out they are getting up at 5 am - makes for a very long day and then have a hike at the end of it I think is just too much for the kids. It is the least I can do to help them out. They tried getting up at 6 am but while the kids were on time for school Jim and Jen were late for work in Kingston.
Mary how are things now the 'witch' has moved on? Hope your cafe business is picking up.
Pups are giving me the hungry eyes look so I best get them some dinner before they fade away to a shadow.
Dianne
I am feeling better, thanks. Still not much energy but getting a bit more everyday. Trying to walk around the house a bit to build up some.
Can only hope weather liars are wrong this time, calling for 70% rain Friday and Sunday and not the nicest Saturday..watch if the aren't accurate the time I don't want them to be. Can't do Easter hunt in the rain.
Karen, is the grands still with you? Should be of some help but know you want to do things on your own but now isn't the time to do so..you have to look after you.
Dianne, I was thinking the same, been hearing woodpeckers in back 40' usually I've one that thinks the back shed metal roof is wood.what noise he makes. I'm sure Jim and Jen appreciate it..what you don't need more of is rain.
'M' you have just postponed the enviable, now you have to fret all over again lol
How old is your hospice client?
Was shopping today, bought a sewing machine for $89 as the shop owner took it in on trade, serviced it and it comes with 3 month guarantee..metal housing which I lke..girls are making placemats on Tuesday, few have difficulties carrying their machines back and forth and don't want to use m good ones so I try and have extra for their use.
Then dropped nto fabric land and bught 35 yards of fabric, couldn't resist, $3 a meter so stocked up..bought mostly 1 meter of each but the fabrics I thought I'd used more bight 2 meters.
Did finish another red/black/white tote with leftovers from the one I did Monday, plastic tote is getting filled with totes. Lol
Lots of shoppers out getting groceries so I picked up my turkey and ham, forgot fixings for pies so a shopping we shall go
Grands are still here and will be for the foreseeable future. Both are working which is good, have to give gentle reminders about keeping their area neater but less often than at first. Sometimes just flat out say "hey how about doing dishes tonight" as they don't offer as yet.
Getting ready to hunker down here ..
The wind has come up, the temp has dropped and I think it is going to be a NASTY night.
Dianne, no woodstove here, NO wood to be found !! Hate the gas heat, but, grateful we have it ..
Betty, sounds like a good day shopping .. did you decide to cook instead of go out for dinner ?
It'll be turky thighs here .. I doubt Gord will be able to get home and Murray is working .. have goodie bags for the kids .. hope to deliver them on Saturday ..
Off to brush my teeth, water the dogs and I thik it'll be a SLEEP IN day tomorrow (yeah right) I panic if I get up after 8am !!
Take care
~M~
Karen, maybe make a schedule this is your day to mop, do dishes...?
With you being ill Karen, I would think them helping out at home would have just happened. That's a shame they have no more conscience than that.
I'm really not surprised remembering their house. They do what ever they are asked but rarely volunteer anything.
