got the tote bag finished from those 50 cent bags of fabric, well almost, dis use up about 1/2 yd of existing fabric that matched

I Got The Job!! They called about 3:45 and told me.
I start contract for 6 months (end of Oct) then if all goes well I will negotiate with them for a perm, and larger, wage. Still - they said 20 hours/week at a decent wage now....... dunno how 3 hours/day for 5 days a week is 20 hours, but maybe they count meetings, etc..... "off hours".....?!?!
I work 9 to Noon - starting next Tues, have Wed off (big meeting and the person training me is going), then work on Thurs and have Good Friday & Easter Monday off.
As a Bookkeeper / Treasurer, I will have to work with 2 sets of accounts - Regional & Congregational. They sold their church building (for $40M) and are joined with another one for Sundays, and I will work in the building where they have their staff and regional office.
I will be responsible for 5 people pay.

Watched the 2 movies .. August is Osage County .. Meryl Streep was FABULOUS, but, lots of swearing and drug abuse in the movie.
Then, Wolf of Wall Street Leonardo DeCaprio .. good movie (3 hours long) .. again, LOTS of foul launguage, drugs and sex .. but, a good story ..
Maybe as I age I just get a bit put of with the over use of the F bomb ..

Anyway, gotta take em back and walk the dogs (try in the mud) .. and keep Lake Stephenson SHALLOW !!

Fantastic news Susan, up hill from here! Can only hope once you've made the 6 months you get to stay n..companies do that now, want to test the waters more so with compatibility than work output. Seems that is the most important part of keeping jobs theses days..just the best news ever.

"M" you would have thought with the smell of the blade last night I'd have had enough, nope got out the ammonia and washed down everything in the washrooms..now will pick another room and do same until spring cleaning is done.

Ammonia .. yikes .. I use that mixed with rubbing alcohol for windows ..
I don't sit to well with real ammonia ..
When I worked in Labour and Delivery we had had a birth and were cleaning the delivery room (nurses did that back then), the nurse I was with spilled a large gallon bottle of ammonia .. OMG, talk about the squeezy queazies !!! Had that been today, they likely would have shut down that delivery room!! But, we just cleaned it up with mops and rags !

I sorta remember that song, So open up your heart and let the sunshine in ^_^
And it IS so beautifully sunny ..

ohhhhhh mixing ammonia & bleach is the Worst

Marilyn - thanks for the Heads Up on "August in Osage County" - this is supposed to be our movie of the month at our church, last Friday in April......... we only have a senior audience (60yo plus) of about 6 at most. Do you think it's too much swearing and such?!?!

Susan, nearly every 2nd word is the 'F' bomb, or, worse !
The acting is better than good though, and, as I said, drug use and smoking and drinking is rampant in the movie ..
It's really too bad, I am NO prude whatsoever, but, some people are easily offended.

Weird day here weather wise .. supposed to rain/snow overnight and during the weekend, and, since we have deer running all over the place on the country roads, I called DS, Murray, and said I would take Austin and Brooklyn and him for lunch tomorrow and forgo the 'party' Saturday night .. DinL folks live about 3 minutes away, whereas we live a half hours drive through the outback .. Murray seems to be good with that .. sheesh, by the time this birthday is done, I'm gonna be in the ;poor house' LoL

Didn't stick to my original day plan but did get a lot done..there sits the hockey quilt, didn't do anything except wind 24 bobbins..almost forgot I had a perm appt. at 2pm, feels good to have curls, what little I have, she sure is scissor happy, guess it will grow though. Feel light headed. Lol

1 hr yard duty

Then it starts up all over again, now let's see if this system works.

Figure by putting yard duty last it should have warmed up..guess that means I should get dressed. Now to find clothing I can sop paint on and mud up

Nbasecoated saw blade to at least have base color, damp inside so taking awhile to dry completely so that I can sketch pattern on..then mom called, having a terrible day so she is driving up to spend the weekend..big sigh..

Had planned on lighting up the chimenea outside and sitting out for a bit, but, that's not going to happen.

Went to the funeral for my aunt today. God bless her, she was 96 and lived a wonderful active life. She was "old school" Italian and you could always eat off her floors. She used to go out every morning and sweep her walkway and then sweep the street gutter in front of her home!!! She bowled and did square dancing into her eighties. What a wonderful example of what a full life can be. I loved her to pieces. All that and she wasn't even five feet tall.....

Sounds like she was a wonderful Aunt!

Betty, I picked up some black fabric, always need some, I also got some music note fabric, for my Granddaughter, she wants a musical quilt for her Birthday. I also got some pink floral fabric and a pretty teal to go with it, to make a tote for my neighbor.

Marilyn - thanks for the info on the movie - think I'll have to change it........ our movie-goers aren't prudes.......... but..... that much F-bombing is a little "over the top"
Now, to think of a different movie.......

Watched Robert Reford in 'All is Lost' .. there might have been a sentence and ONE word spoken throughout the movie .. but, I was totally engaged for 94 minutes .. hard to believe huh?
Basically he is on a journey alone at sea .. and .. things go wrong ..
I must say, for an actor to keep an audience interested when there is NO talking, just action, is quite a feat, especially when MARILYNNE (who is bored easily) is one of the onlookers.
Look it up and have a boo .. but, I'd give it an 8 out of 10 .. the ending will stick with you .. in a philosophical way .. ^_^

Trying to 'cypher out' the weather here .. dull and dreary and damp right now .. snow north of us, and, rain south of us, and, we're in the middle ..
Maybe Lorna and I will go to the gym .. hard to say ..
She bought a trailer for her truck yesterday, so, she's all excited about getting some grass cutting, landscaping accounts if she doesn't go back to the cemetery .. she still hasn't heard ..
She sees the prosthetist on Apr. 18 to go into her NEW leg .. the one she is in right now is not too comfortable .. I'll say it again .. if any of you have children/grandchildren, neices, nephews etc trying to make a decision as to a career .. working with prosthetics is the way to go !!

Off to make a cuppa, and talk to the frozen chicken on the counter!! Wonder if it'll cluck back ??

Yes, I am still here but hoping and praying (if that isn't being selfish) that I will be able to go around the first part of May. If only for a few days/week, it will give me a much needed break. It is a long slow progress but I do think finally they have gotten her on meds that are effective.

My dughter, Kim, will be coming down this weekend.......I can hsrdly wait to see her.

It appears warm weather might be heading to this area...temps getting higher each day.

When I had to leave my friend, she had just started back to work half time .. she was scared and nervous, but, thankfully her brother and his wife stood up to the plate ..
Kerry made out well, and, when I reurned in a few weeks time, I can almost say she had blossomed on the new meds ..
No cutains closed .. music on the radio .. and, supper in the oven ..
Her 3 cats were even more sociable ^_^

As you can see, we still have snow, but, it's melting fast, as you CAN'T see, we have BUCKETS of M U D in the driveway !! Have boards down over the worst spots though ..
Lorna was able to take her machine and 'back drag' the mud and smooth it out ..

Hi Everyone, Want you all to know I'm doing OK. I think I have a little flu to go with my jaw pain (which is almost gone) so I went back to bed this morning and slept a bit. Dishes are done and I'll finish the laundry after another rest. Maybe. I can already tell that when my jaw stops hurting I'm going to feel better than I have in months but I'm not pushing the recovery.

Happy that Susan has a job to go to and I don't.

Linda stayed, brought fabric to make a black and white tote, mom decided she also wanted to make one so went in search of some fabric, have to say she did well and enjoyed it, however, after the 2 panels were made she was exhausted..left for home early afternoon.
