Best/Worse/What did I Learn Today?Welcome Friends old/new

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lordy yes Barb, was in my nighty, bent down to pick up a few branches and thought hope nobody is behind me, what a sigh they would have seen.

Drats, is it once a month they have seniors day? Big discount?

"M" nothing worse than a spring c,d..rest and get some hot sop into you.

About time I make homemade chicken soup, maybe this weekend.

Trying to figure out good tme to take mom to Buffalo

Weekends are filling up fast

Debbie, are the stores in Buffalo open Good Friday do you think? That would be the answer..go early Friday morning, come back Saturday aft. And still have Sunday to cook for the family

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh yes, Betty, stores will be open on Good Friday. A lot of them will be open on Easter as well!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I just got a call-back on the job I interviewed for, on the 1st.... the Chair of the Board of Trustees wants to meet me at 2pm today.
As they want someone to start on Monday, I think this is a GOOD thing :-)

Pray for me to get this job :-)
After more than a year, I'm ready to be working

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

YAY Susan!!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm praying Susan - big time!!!!!

Lyndonville, NY

Betty nothing closes good Friday here but the banks and post office I believe. More sales if anything.

Your box arrived today....sent you a dmail.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I'm one of 2 they're considering.. the first 1 of three didn't have my qualifications, and I don't know how the 3rd interview went, after me.
Them calling me back like this, is a GOOD thing!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crossing everything that can be crossed Susan..

Greg just called,, said he fell from his machine last week when the track went..Sunday night he was complaining about it..went to see doc then X-rays, here it is broken..casts or him

Lyndonville, NY

Whats broken? Arm/leg? Poor man!!

Susan, good luck!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Think between wrist and lower arm..

He also said he doubted I had a lot to keep me company, bringing a friend over. After he finishes work,dg uh has a long saw lade wants a scene painted on it..told it it had to be sandblasted , said that is done and could I have it ready by the weekend..NOT and laughed.

Called mom, left voice mail, asked if she wanted to go to Buffalo on Friday and back Saturday aft. On Easter long weekend, imagine she will call me when she gets in with yes or no??

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh no! Tell Greg he's too old to be breaking stuff! Our bones get brittle in our old age! LOL! Bet he'll love that!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Lots happening ^_^
Susan I am keeping you in my thoughts, and hoping the Borad makes the correct decision in chosing YOU!

Betty, what will you paint on the sawblade, did the fella have any suggestions ?

Well .. after spending the BIG BUX on my hair 2 weeks ago, I went to my old hairdresser and had it done PROPERLY!!
Got to the point I couldn't do anything with the cut from the fancy shmansy salon.
Took Margaret about half an hour to whip my hair back into place ...
She used to babysit DS when she was a teeny bopper .. so, we caught up on family etc.
Sadly, her Dad has developed dementia .. he's at home, but waiting to be placed in a Home for the Aged .. her and her 2 sisters and her Mom are so saddened.

My cold is full bore awful and tomorrow is a very early day with DH .. take the dogs in fro 9 for grooming, then go for breakfast, then some shopping .. he leaves for WI on Thursday morning and I have an all day workshop that day .. never rains, but, it pours ..

Best get movin along, supper is on the go, but, I have some tidying up to do ..

HUGS to everyone

~M~

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

OH .. sorry to hear about Greg's arm :-(

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

I will tell him Joyce, I will get a chuckle I'm sure.

Yes "M" will paint on it, likely a winter scene if he has nothing else in mind..been so LNG since I painted, perhaps I've forgotten how!

Just made appt for perm Friday afternoon as well, nothing worse than hair being out of control

Bet you re looking nifty

Wonder how Susan made out

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Tonight is Hosta Club meeting. Sherry and I will grab a bite to eat first. I need to send my dues in for the Water Garden Society. They called me while I was in TN to ask if I still wanted to be in since I hadn't paid my dues. Well, yeah! Too many things to take care of. Bertie is dropping out this year, but I will still go cause I enjoy it so much.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear about the broken arm, sure hope it heals quickly!

Susan, good luck at the interview, waiting for you to tell us you got hired!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Poor Greg!!! Survives the snowmobile race only to fall off his machine!!!!! Hope he heals fast.
Praying Susan!!!
Hope you feel better soon "M".
Would love to see your gardens someday Joyce.....I've heard they are just beautiful.
Got a couple blocks done today and finished the knitting on one baby sweater. Noe to sew up the side seams.....

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

The interview today - with the Chair of the Board of Trustees. He was asking some hard-hitting questions, and I think I answered them very, and pretty, well.
The other person in today’s interview was Les, who currently holds this position as Bookkeeper / Treasurer.
They spoke to my Pastor and got a very good reference,
Also, they spoke to one of the Drs I worked for at Calgary Lab, and also got a good reference!!

They’ll let me know in a couple of days. Btw – it sounded like Les was “chomping at the bit” to hire me on the spot lol

AND, Scarboro Church is showing great interest in me also – as an Office Administrator full time.
They called me at 12:30 (before I went to my interview at 2pm). I told her that I was going to the interview and being considered at another church.
I called them back after my interview, and she said they are very interested and would offer me the job, except that they really think they should meet me first..... lol too funny!!
So, between Better Books & Bibles (18 blocks from me, and 20 hrs / week), St. Andrews (bookkeeper/treasurer), and Scarboro United (office administrator)..... I feel quite sought after......... nice after being unemployed for over a year..!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning,

Can you believe it's already the 9th of April?

with warmers temps big changes happening outside, still covered in snow but melting at a good pace as not to have flooding(so far). In high 50's today, rain for a few days so likely by Easter I'll be able to start yard duty.

Last 2 nights have been spend ditching and making trenches, amazing the water flow once that is done

Thought I'd share a few photo's then come back and chat

Greg brought a friend over with his long saw-about 5', picked a pattern so guess I'm now about to paint 4 seasons, could I please skip winter lol

Rita has one another row of 5" to complete the top of her quilt then comes the quilting

Pat brought in the pattern for slippers she is making

Susan, gee whiz, one of those positions ought to jump at hiring you...which are you hoping for?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

I am gonna BUSTICATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gord and were having breakfast after dropping off the dogs at the groomers.
My phone rang, it was DS Murray.
He said 'Guess what"?
I said"you're coming HOME"!
He said 'YEP' .. TODAY at 3pm !!!
Here's me in the restaurant trying to be calm and cool ..
NO ONE knows but Gordon and myself ..
It will be a complete surprise for the kids and Alison
Alison has a meeting at 4pm, so, Gord will pick Murray up, they will pick up pizza and take their time going to his house
First he'll surprise the kids .. then, when Alison comes home he'll be hidden away in the bedroom and he'll walk out once she's settled ..
I am so excited I could just .. well .. BUSTICATE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

~M~

I'll miss the reunion as I have the dang docs appt, but, I can always see him later, he needs time with his family anyway ^_^

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Judy, I almost forgot about the planting lollipops, I will make sure I take all the stuff to San Antonio when I go this week end. Sorry about your hot-tub. Hopefully it is an easy fix for you guys!

"M", that is so nice that your son is coming home! The kids and his wife will be so happy to see him! I bet your excited to see him too!

Betty, I wonder why fabric is so expensive in Canada? That is double what we pay here for the high end fabrics, most of the time, Joann's or Hobby Lobby has it for like $5.00 to $7.00 per yard!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Wow, all beautiful, Betty. Wish I could paint. I'm terrible at it. How long will that saw take you, it's huge!!?

Barb, you're welcome any time! We have a guest room! Judy said it was very comfortable! I was out doing clean up and cut back today. Pulled a few weeds, too. Anyway, garden club will be here on May 6th so I've got a bunch to do in a short time. I want to paint the living room and get new carpet, too. Better get busy!!!

I miss you, too, Lil Injun! Come back!!!

LK, could you send me some of your talent? I need it!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cookie, those wreaths are made with hot glue and wire cutters. Cut the fake flowers from the stem, glue them on the wreath with the eggs and ribbon, and your done.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Sounds like something I could almost do!!LOL!

mulege, Mexico

Dentist appt went well but I had to have the tooth pulled. I'm back home with a gauze packed socket and an ice pack. Think I'm going to sleep a lot.

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Katie, glad you have something to take for pain..bet. You are glad it's all beind you. Did you like this new dentist?

"M"' I thought it was sunshine in my neck of the woods and here it was you beaming..mother hen has her chick back in the fold, all is well in thrpe world..how xcited they all will be tonight. Does that mean he doesn't have to go back and finish his month?

Joyce, few weeks here and I'll have you painting lie a pro.

LindaKay, have no idea why it's so expensive, I will just keep making regular trips to Buffalo I guess.just know I wouldn't sew much if I had to depend on our fabric shops. Mhave to stock up on more fabric.

Did buy a panel though of flowers on navy blue..saw a new bag, pattern is quite easy, might try it using that piece.

Your fabric shopping happens this weekend right? Hmm maybe you are going next week to be there for Easter.

Judy, this winter has been hard on everything outside..might have been worth getting all the lens replaced while repairman was there. Takes a bit to get into the swing of things once you've been away.

Barb, what did you end up buying at Joann's?

Gorgeous out there, Rita and I were picking branches, wow, it's a wonder there are still branches on the trees...new neighbors, who have 5 kids has 2 little girls who are chatty Cathy's. Lol. Will be nice having kids around. Didn't get them all picked up, got to leave some for tomorrow. Can't believe how quickly it's melting..had a bet with Rita, I said not until end of month but lkely all gone by Easter weekend. I will keep pilling branches in the firepit and have a fire one night over the weekend. Judy will have to visit to clean it again!

Got creative with the 5 packages of fabric pieces, got a tote bad cut, just need a few odds and ends and it will make a bag..love it when you can use scraps to become something.

Was going to sit tonight and play with the saw but realized he didn't prime it with anti rust pant, I will check to see if I have some if not will pick some up tomorrow.

Sent an invitation to Greg / Jeff and family, They all love Market Buffet in Barrie, great eats..it's mid point for Jeff to meet up with us, told them I'd take them all out for dinner Easter Snday vs cooking, now waiting on their response.,being lazy especially as I offered to take mom to buffalo good Friday and Saturday, no answer yet as to if she wants to go.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

don't always have flowers all year. just sometimes. very surprised it happened this year, as we had a lot of cold weather, many nights of freezes. some plants got hit hard. I don't know why the passion vine kept flowering but it did. and I enjoyed it.

Ryleigh doing better. she has to get tested again. I don't know when. Have not talked to the DIL in awhile.

DIL is not feeling well. Allergies/cold ?? and of course still broken foot!! they did not give her a boot! I can't believe it, no cast, just wrapped her up in gauze and tape. told her to stay off it. then told her she had to go to another part of the building to get crutches!!! REALLY STUPID

Malena fine so far. thank goodness.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

ok, If I got to choose which job - I'd like the Bookkeeper / Treasurer one - it would stretch me back to stuff I haven't done in YEARS, but it's a lot scary - mind you, I would have 2 months of training by the fella who's leaving....... and I could drive to work - it's not downtown, so there is actual parking lol AND the pay is fantastic!
The other one - Office Administrator - I would have a lot more "lea way" and would be able to do what I do best - make the job my own :-) and it's full-time. But, it's downtown and I would have to bus to work...... yuck, in the wintertime!
The 3rd one - 18 blocks from home, with parking...... but they've had Lots of applicants, and it would not pay well at all - less per hour, and 20 hours/week.

But - who knows what the coming days will bring....
On Tuesday the first job said they'd let me know in two days - I told them if they called Thurs am, call me at the church...... cuz that's where I'll be :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Believe it shall be a sunshine day..so nice looking out and seeing a color other than white..well not quite, white is still on most of the ground but know it will be short lived.

Best of spring, getting out of heavy clothing..soon no coat!

Thunder, bet you will worry until the next set of tests come back..what a stupid thing for them to do re your DIL..Greg got a call was it tuesday saying breaks in his wrist/arm (which happened two weeks ago) and told him not to use it and come in this morning for setting...crazzzy

lucky you with color in your garden..I have wild geraniums and in a few places the sun hits greenery is up.

Debbie, have you heard anything about Crissy? Wonder how she is doing?

Susan, let's hooe you do get the chance to pick one and you do get a all this a.m.

Went to base oat the saw, drats he didn't prime it with metal primer, guess I need to get some and get it done today, leave it to cure a day then start my project, in the meantime will sew on totes.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Wow, what an exciting 24 hours !
Murray (DS) arrived home, and, the SURPRISE for the kids and his wife couldn't have been better!
Because I was at my rhuematologist appt I didn't get to see it first hand, but Gordon (DH) did, he said I would have cried like a baby ..
Austin was SO happy when I spoke with him this morning to wish him Happy Birthday ..
We'll be celebrating the BDay on Saturday ..

Sooooo .. lots of news on the thread ..
Katie, fingers crossed all is well after your extraction ..
Betty, as I know 'zippety doo dah' about fabric, I would imagine they are more expensive here in Canada, simply, BECAUSE (as always), Gord left for WI about half an hour ago armed with 'the list' !!
Hope you find some of that kinda paint for the saw ..

Susan .. hope it's ALL good news for you, and, soon !

Thunder, Ryleigh has quit with the loose stools? That's great, fingers crossed it stays that way ..
As for your DinL .. I'm sure she'll to glad to have that foot feeling better .. they do crazy silly things at our local hospital as well .. had a client with COPD go for blood work .. sent her to almost the OPPOSITE end of the hospital for the tests .. took her close to half an hour to get there as she was so short of breath. The ONE time her daughter had not come with her, she could have at least gotten a transport wheelchair and pushed Mom to the lab ..

Marion .. how is Sue ?

LindaK, lovely wreaths !!

Mary, Dianne, Debbie, Joyce, Judy .. and EVERYONE .. thinking of you all

Toodles

~M~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes Betty, I am going to San Antonio this week end, need to get a 2nd shot in my hip. I was told I have a pinched nerve, as well as arthritis, so I had one shot two weeks ago, and need to go back for a different type tomorrow!
So I will look for my Easter fabric. Just hard to believe they have none here, and not much in Austin.
"M", so glad your son is home!
Katie, hope your mouth is feeling a bit better today!

Lyndonville, NY

Haven't heard from Chrissy, she has had a couple arm updates...still healing and doing better, but nothing else.

The garden, well, there is a tiny bit of green....and the Daffs and the tulip edges are up and showing green. Today it is near 50 to 60....but wind is nasty and gusting as high as the temps.

Can't wait to hear about Murray and the surprise!!! Now if it was to come home to stay!!!

Betty...let me know date you are coming up here. Next two weekends are busy...but I need to see you. My Bessie Lou fix

Debbie .. we ,too, have MAJOR wind ..
We went to town and going across a parking lot was totally tough !!
Had grit in my teeth by I got back into the store , shouldn't smile so much LoL
As for the wall .. I hear you .. built one because of the DinL .. and, I gotta tell ya .. I'm doing a DAM fine job of pretending it's DOWN .. but, truth be told, I don't trust her as far as I can throw her.
I banter back and forth with her, but, i know that both she and I KNOW there will always be an animosity there, but for the kids sake, BIG GURL PANTIES ON!!

LindaK, ewewe to the injection .. I am SUCH a wuss, hope it works for you !

Best go shut the sump pump off outside .. sure does help to get rid of Lake Stephenson !!

Gord should be in WI soon at his buds house .. time to sit in the shack in the woods, drink beer, fart and tell stories LoL
Sorry .. didn't mean to be rude. but, it is what it is ... gotta luv him

Have 2 movies to watch .. Wolf of Wall Street, and Osage County ... both look good, and, due back tomorrow ..

SOooooooooooooooooooooooooo .. off I go

ACHOO

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Busy, busy

Did some yard work, finished Easter throw, made a tote bag using 3/4 of the fabric I bought yesterday for $1.50 even impressed myself

Had about 9 " wide x 20"of pretty red/white lack that gave pizzazz to the bag, even had to use up squares for the handles ..am sure someone will take a liking to it.

Absolutely an ace kind of day, winds is up a tad but not like what you guys are getting.

I've been watching 'Crossing Lines' don't think it's a new series. If its on Netflix, really enjoying it. Haven't heard of your movies "M" will have to be on the lookout.

No need to apologize, isn't that exactly what a group of men do..nice to see them enjoy.

Isn't it funny how some you come in contact with you just can't jive..my friend Jimmy Wilky used to tell me in a previous world that they did me harm..miss the old coot, had many a talk, found myself listening for hours seeing as he had read royalty, movie stars, an astronaut and worked with Mother Teresa..think I showed you cards photo's he sent me..some leave a lasting impression on your soul don't they.

Debbie, know you are a busy lady these days..won't know till Thursday as mom could change her mind a zillion times from now until then. Make your plans, if the stars line up we'll hug

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lordy, they just confirmed that our Minister of Finance, Jim Flaherty 64 who only just retired, what a few weeks ago died this morning from a heart attack..never know do we when our time is up!
