H everyone, Don't worry. I'm OK. I should be able to see the dentist on Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm more in a state of being aware that something is wrong than in a lot of pain.
Got an email from my niece a couple of days ago and it precipitated a lot of mental housecleaning. Spent most of yesterday and last night writing and writing. What we call hairballs. Old stuff, some funny in a way, some painful. I wrote it down so if it pops up in my mind again I can remember that I already have it written down so I don't have to think about it. I only slept about an hour but I was able to be up for most of time Tony was here and to assure him I'll be OK tomorrow - his day off.
I have more energy than I've had in a while. I've got the patio off my bedroom almost all cleaned up.
It has been rough the last few months; really since I crashed my ambulance and realized how close I had come to killing myself, maybe not so accidently. It was a serious wake up call. Dianne, are you listening. I have promised my niece that I will not commit suicide - she has lost too many relatives that way and I won't ever add that to the crap she already has to live with. But the accident brought home to me how depressed I was.
My neighbor Dana said something very interesting to me a while back. She knows I have ongoing issues with depression and she said, seriously, "I don't get depressed so I don't know what it's like." Her lack of depression is as foreign to me as my depression is to her. Something to think about. Imagine never being depressed and not knowing what it's like I ponder.
With all the writing some things have become clearer and I'm hoping I will continue to have more energy and joie de vivre.
Enough philosophy, I have a lot of deal leaves to sweep up and add to the compost. Cooked a large pot of chicken and rice yesterday so the dogs are taken care of. They are all quite happy and remind me of how wonderful they think I am. Who could ask for more?
My schotia tree is starting to bloom. It's about thirty feet tall now and I grew it from a seed, starting about ten years ago. It has lots of nectar so the birds will be flocking in. Google has some great pictures of these. I also have a desert rose that is covered in pink and white blossoms, drawing compliments from everyone who sees it. And I have enough squash and parsley to share. And little papayas on a couple of trees.
Sorry not to have posted for a while. I know you worry and I appreciate it so I try to check in often enough that you know I'm OK.
hugs, katie
Betty .. I am so happy to see/hear that your Blackie returned unscathed.
Here, different story all together!
We have RED squirrels who STAY all winter and eat us outta house and home .. well .. birdseed and PNuts anyway.
AND .. they procreate at much the same rate as RABBITS !
SO, every so often, we either trap them and take them on vacation a few miles away ..or, if the problem, and, it does become a problem (specially when they bolt into the house) .. Gord has to 'cull the herd' .. but,not when I'm here .. outta site, outta mind !
We have one black squirrel 'pass through' once .. stayed a few days, drove the dogs and cat nuts, and went on his way .. he had only one eye ..,called him Captain Morgan LoL
Katie, your gardens and trees sound so beautiful .. enjoy your gifts of scent and sight ..
Off n runnin
~M~
The snow has started here Betty & Dianne, so no doubt will be your way in no time. It is coming down fast and heavy. So glad you made it home safely and before this hit.
It is a mix of rain, ice and snow. Already two accidents on the scanner.
Katie glad to see your post also.
I am trying to keep up and read all, and I know all about
the depression. IS so hard some days....when life keeps happening beyond your control.
I am trying so hard to put it in the pile of "this is small stuff, don't worry". And "God, you have to take this one...I can't right now".
Going to put my Pjs on and lounge tonight. My leg isn't healing well, and I need to elevate it and put bandage back on.
Debbie
Betty - you asked what my friend Susan's dg name is? She's the friend I said I "know" in Atlanta, but I've never met....... I said I didn't meet her on DG, but elsewhere on the internet, so she doesn't have a DG name.........
Morning
Sun is actually saying good morning, wonderful it followed me home. Sure hope the storm that giving us the last hurrah passed you on by.
Susan, apology, with having just in Georgian and Susan 101 lives there it triggered 'incorrectly' that it might have been her you mentioned. Ooops
Katie, read a d re-read your post..can't phanthom someone ever being depressed..have had severe struggles with it as well. I'm so glad you are coping better, writting does help.some days it doesn't take long for all those hurts to return..sending hugs
Debbie, there are no words..
Bet you enjoyed shopping for the baby..have they picked a name yet, some do before baby is born? Any color theme for baby's room?
Rita is downstairs, guess I should go say morning and think Easter bunny runners are calling my name
Those fabrics are so pretty Betty. You have a great eye for putting them together.
So tell us about this new tool. What is it and how do you use it?
its for free motion quilting Barb, its quite thick so the quilting foot wouldn't or shouldn't hit the templace..also had a 1/2 and 1/4 inch indentation so you could do quilting of lines that distance apart...will test it out but not today lol
off to sew Easter table runners
"M" how is Lorna this morning, less pinching?
Marion, hope Sue will have a fantastic day today.
what are you all up to today, something more exciting than I, I hope!

Let us know how that ruler works out! Not doing much today! Just taking it easy!
Love those pretty fabrics!
Up at 7:30am .. unheard of for me!
Got home from the shower at about 11pm .. was a wonderful time, and FOOD, my gosh, incredible, have a couple of new, and easy, recipes.
The gifts were lovely .. I think Lorna may have gotten some pics.
Anne's dog, Macey, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was having such a good time going from lady to lady and scoring goodies .. actually, Anne had a bowl of cut up carrots and dog treats and asked us to use them ..
AND, thankfully we didn't play any of those crazy shower games, but, everyone got a prezzie .. mostly kitchen paraphernalia .. but nice .. I got some por holders and some sink scrubbers.
Anyway .. coming home out here in the country later at night, pitch black, and, DEER .. kinda trippy that's for sure.
Today WAS sunny, but, the clouds have skidded infrom the SOUTH no less .. and .. as Dianne would say .. the Weather Liars have us under an WARNING for 5-8" of wet snow .. we'll see.
Lovely totes Betty .. have fun with the Easter Runners ...
Debbie .. sitting quietly with you .. talking if you'd like, or, just sitting and doing nuttin huuny ..
Hope your leg feels and starts looking better ..
Lorna's purple/blue bruise has faded somehwat, but I am worried none the less ..
Think I'll have a second cuppa

Snowed here and it is the wet and heavy kind. Fortunately we seemed to have missed that dreaded freezing rain. It is very overcast, so much so it looks like it will snow again.
M it sounds like you had a great time at the shower. I dread gong to them with a passion. However your food sounds a lot more exciting than sandwiches on coloured bread with the crusts cut off. Am I dating myself??? lol
Inhaled an excellent book the other day - Wives of Los Almos. Those poor women had no idea what they were in for or even why they were secreted away. I've ordered from Amazon some more books on the whole situation.
Pups have been out frolicing about - just delighted with this fresh snow. Me not so much.
Hope our Judy is having a blast. Know she will.
Mary how are things with you?
Marion sending positive thoughts and prayers to you and Sue every day. Hope thins are starting to look up for you both.
Susan have you started any of the books Katie sent you? I reread the Two for the ..... book this week. I can't seem to find my One for the ....... I hope it is not one of those books I have lent to someone and they neglected to return it. Speaking of neglected books, Mary did you ever hear back about those lovely books you so happily shared with us all? Who was the author again? I can't even remember who I mailed my books onto I just know that I did.
Duke is here with his empty water bottle pestering me so I had best go. He wants me to throw it for him - prefers it to his balls or other toys.

Dianne
Bright sunny day here but on the cool side...60's. No complaints as late yesterday and last night we had some horrible winds and thunderstorms. Things feel "fresh" outside today.
Love the fabrics Betty. I so wish I had my sewing machine but alas I don't so I continue working on an afghan for the youngest GD. Oh how I miss seeing them now!!
It is an up and down situation here. Late yesterday Sue started have some more panic attacks, really bad night but managed to stay together for church. She has the immobilizing fear she is going to be left all alone. I plan to stay for as long as I can but there will come a time I need to make a quick trip home to take care of affairs there. As most all of us know, depression is a horrible beast to deal with.
Linda has the frog swap open! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1354810/
Hang in there Marion, we are all keeping you in out thoughts and prayers!
Marion, I so wish I could help in some way, distance surely is a demon ..
When my good friend dropped into 'her blackness' I drove 600mi to Winnipeg Manitoba to care for her .. her sisters were much further away, and, her brother was no help as his wife looked at depression as a stigma !
Kerry would break into a cold sweat when I told her we were going to go to see her psychiatrist, she knew she had to go, but, crossing that threshold to go out and get into the car was almost too much for her to bear.
The drive there (I counted on Kerry for directions) was touch n go at times ..
After being there for a month, I HAD to come home, she was 'getting better', but, I ended up bringing her home with me .. 2 weeks later, I drove her back to Winnipeg, the meds had worked their magic, and, she was back to work ..
I pray Sue follows the same path.
Dianne .. our sun in back, but, I honestly do not know WHO or WHAT to believe anymore .. a few hours ago I thought "oh oh" we are going to get a dandy storm .. then it seemed to 'blow away' .. my brother lives on the Lake, he says we WILL get a storm, he's looking out over Superior and says he can see it forming .. he is also watching a valliant little ice breaker TRY to break up the ice on the lake ..
Lorna still continues to worry me .. she is laying down now .. I took pics of the bruise and sent them to her prosthetist telling him she needed to see him ASAP !
Made a chocolate cake today, a YEARS old recipe using coca and mayonaisse .. looks good
Off to play scrabble
~M~
Sure hope Lorna gets attention soon!
M, thanks so much. It is like being on a yoyo! Weekends seem to be really bad for her....yesterday and today she is having the shaking, cold sweats issues. Will be starting with the pyschiacrist this Thursday. I would take her home with me but there is the issue of what to do with all her cats. For now doing what I can.
Deep sigh
Marion, sure going to take its toll on ou when you decide to leave
"M" aren't they fairly quick getting Lorna appointment with specialist? So would enjoy a fix of chocolate cake.
Dianne, book sounds very interesting, bet you couldn't put it down. Here I had visions of you frolicking in the snow with the furries, brought a smile to my lps
Spoke with mom, couldn't get her to stop crying ..no words
Got a call to say my nephew fell off his roof yesterday, weren't sure he would make it , looks if all goes well, really well he will spend next several months in a wheelchair, best case senerio..won't think of worse case senerio, won't go there. His mom and step father were in Hawaii for winter, she is flying home..Bernie my brother is at hospital today, I'll wait until later and call
So my morning was company, Greg/Mel and this afternoon bad news call
Drained so didn't get anything accomplished, having hot roast beef sandwhiches to use up last night leftovers then early to bed it will e.
So sorry about your Nephew Betty! Sending lots of prayers!
Prayer for your nephew, Betty. Is that why your mom was crying? Are she and Sharon getting along now.
It is a gorgeous day here. I've been doing cooking and laundry in between poker games.
Still feeling purged after all the writing I did. Feels good.
I'm going to try a new recipe for sweet and sour sauce for fish.
hugs, katie
p.s. Wish I could send each of you some of this gorgeous day. Close your eyes and imagine perfection.
Sending prayers for your nephew Betty. Hope things aren't as bad as first thought. I'm sure Mom will have crying days for a while yet.
And my prayers continue for you and Sue as well Marion.
Dianne, you mailed the books to me and I sent them on to Susan. I can't remember the name either. I hate when I do that. Loved the books.
Glad the shower was a good time "M". Sounds like it was especially fun with good food. I would think sending a picture of the bruising going on with Lorna would be enough to get some help going...And I'm glad you didn't get more snow!!!
We didn't get it either although the WL said we would. We have had a day of steady rain instead. So dismal and gray..
I posted some quilt pictures on the sewing threads Betty. Finally......
Hope tonight is a good one and that tomorrow is sunny and bright.
one book was whirligig ??? and the author is Paul somebody?? It came from Mary. I read that one, and passed it on, I forget to who???
I have another book here, that Susan sent to me, I don't know if it is the same author?? it is probably buried in fabric, on my sewing table...
My darling DIL broke her foot!! and three toes !! don't know the story, hubs talked to her. she went to Hospital, they had to manipulate toes back into place !! ( it hurts just thinking about that!!) and taped her foot all up. Told her to stay off it..HA HA she asked the DR if he was gonna come over and take care of her kids. 4 1/2 yr old and 10 month old, and no one around to help!!!
it has been a crazy day, Not even 8 pm and I think I am ready for bed.....
Hugs to Y'all
Back home again and a good thing too. Amelia is sick throwing up and runs and I think I'm starting with it too. Good thing we didn't head on down to TN. Would not be a good thing to share this with the Sistahs or my family down there.
Betty I finally got a photo to show you. This is my first and only stained glass project, I made this for my daughter after she had her first balloon ride.
Marion, hope Sue has a better day tomorrow. One day at a time!
Sounds like a fun shower! I don't like to play games either. Had to play a few at my DGDs wedding shower. I just kept thinking, only a little more and it will be over!
Loved your pictures, Betty! You're always such a busy lady. How is your pain now?
We had a very pretty day today. Took two hours of driving in the sunshine to meet with Steve to get Judy, but the day was so lovely, it just sped right by. We had lunch together, then we headed for home. Stopped at a candle outlet and did a little shopping. For once, I didn't buy anything! LOL! See? It can be done, no matter what Bill says!
Got home, showed Judy to her room and guess what was waiting for her on the bed? Picture tells it all!
I have to clean house tomorrow morning, so we're planning on getting away from here around noon. I just hope we don't run into Red's traffic in Cincy. Tomorrow is opening day. Wish us luck!
Sorry your not feeling well Karen! Gt better soon!
Judy, glad you made the trip so far, love the outfit! Make sure you give BIG armwraps to all!
Judy, you look fabulous as usual. So will miss seeing on at the gathering but alas, my hands are full. No clue how long this will be.
So Happy to see all on here...
HUGS
Great wishes for all to have comfort and relief from all that life brings us....
Shop is plugging along.....would love to have Whirligig from Paul Fleischman back with signatures of those from afar who read the booK!
If not possible...that's okay.....
We are planning a Disney aka "Visit DSD21" trip May 19-25.
My "Witchypoo" has her last day as FRIDAY who would have thought???????
HUGS To all
Please keep us in your prayers... it has been a HUGE Challenge opening this business....with problems arising daily... we are up for it...it is just a huge adjustment.....
Mary
Morning everyone ...
Mary .. in my prayers fer sure re the biz ..time will tell, but, I am one of the many who think it'll be a resounding success!
Re
WITCHYPOO' .. what can I say .. out of thr frying pan, INTO the fire ?
Karen, hope 'the bug' is short lived .. nasty lil beggars that they are !!!
Lovely outfit .. here's where I am in a quandry as I don't KNOW evereyone (yet) .. is that Judy at Joyces and they are going to the Sistahs round up?
WINDY here .. temp is 34F and storms of a great magnitude are predicted .. here's hoping they're WRONG .. it's slippy out there !!
Hoping to hear from Lorna's prosthetist this morning, as well, will likely be calling her hematologist (blood doc) and requesting she have some blood work done .. for her to still be in bed, well, very odd ..
Take care everyone
Toodles
~M~
PS Prays with Betty's nephew and family and Thunders DIL!
Good morning.
Hope you got some good rest Betty. You must be so tired from all that driving.
I'm so sorry to hear about Karen being ill and Thunder's DIL's injured foot. I guess it never rains but it pours lately. Speaking of rain, we are getting major rain last night and today. Throw in some wind, sleet and snow and you have major sludge. What a mess. So much for sunshine today.....
Mary, I'm glad "Witchypoo" is gone and maybe now you can do your job the way you want. Hope it works out to your benefit. The shop will come together-just give it time. The good weather will help I'm sure. Thank you for remembering the names. I loved Whirlygig and enjoyed Paul Fleischman's others. I have sent them all on.
Yes, "M", that is Judy at Joyce's and they are on to the gathering. Wishing them safe travels and much fun. The outfit looks great Judy!!!!
So hoping that Lorna's doctor gets back to you asap. I would worry too if she is spending all that time in bed. She must be in a lot of pain from that leg. I'll keep her in my prayers for a quick resolution.
Off to the sewing machine today. Hope it is a good one for everyone.
Morning everyone! Thunder, I sure hope the Dr. has her in at least a walking cast, so she can take care of the little ones! Sending prayers for a speedy recovery!
Mary, nice to see you pop in, I think I saw a smirk on your face about witch poo being gone?
wow, finally got caught up with things..had a zillion calls while I was gone, friends/family so got them all done and now I can put my feet up and relax. Sunny here but cold..
Guess my trip south didn't satisfy my travelling urge, here I am putting time frames and mileages to Option 1 of our Roadtrip 2014. By tomorrow I should be able to work on option 2 then set up a dinner to review and choose then I can really get down to minute planning lol
Katie, mom was crying because she went to the cottage with my brother Bernie, realtor came and put it up for sale, then she packed up some valuables, things she kept of her mom's that meant a lot to her, her mom died when she was 16..dropped the box and broke everything in it so a very emotional weekend.
Called Jason this morning, plates in the hips, arm now comes the healing, not the best but could have been so much worse. Greg will take a run to Hamilton (about 125 miles) on night this week he things, if our schedules correspond I'll go with him.
Judy, love your outfit, better say that as I have one just the same lol
Hugs to all at the sisters gathering, likely I passed within a short distance of it Saturday..just too bad it hadn't been scheduled for a weekend. Marion, you haven't had much luck in attending the reunions seeing as your mom was ill and now your sister..as hard as it is family comes first doesn't it.
LindaKay, guess you will be on your way to the gathering??? Feeling better and up to it??
Barb, had nightmares all night, got up just after 3a.m., watched a movie with Jody Foster, excellent movie then decided to get up..sat and had coffee and enjoyed the quiet of nearing dawn.
"M" that is so unlike Lorna, she never stops..did I miss how her meeting went re her old job?? do you think if she didn't get it she's sad and needs to be on her own??
Karen, that hot air baloon is very nice..lots of work right?
Thunder, bet you'd like to take a few week off and go help out with the kids..hard for her to be alone and in pain with the care of the kids on her shoulders..would she tell her hubby, bet not, wouldn't want to worry him.
Oh Mary, won't be long things will come together re the business..Disney trip is just what you need!!! as for witchypoo, did you let the door smack her in the behind on her way out, here's your coat what's your hurry? lol
Well .. the snow seems to have re located either north or south, left the wind here as well as a freezing rain warning too.
Waiting for a call from the cancer clinic, Lorna has her blood taken there as it's where her hematologist is located ..
Betty .. her interview went well re her job, the fella who runs the cemetery wants her back in the worst way as he has worked with her and knows her skills .. it'll be the head honcho in Toronto who will 'YAE or NAY' it ..
Boyzo, am thinking your nephew was lucky to have escaped with what he did .. missed the spine ..!!
AKkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk .. your poor Mom, losing all those memories, makes me ill ..
Barb .. those books sound goof .. have never read Paul Fieschman (sp)
Have a recipe to share, once it comes through to my email .. had it at the shower .. nummies!
Bakin bread .. I'm in knead !!! LoL
M
No knead for me for a bit ... LoL
Here's the recipe .. and, as the lady who made it says, the topping isn't carved in stone ...
She used, shredded cheese, shredded carrot, finely chopped cucmber and some broccoli ..
It was so good !!!
And, H E A L T H Y !

We are getting ready to take off for Austin Friday. I am feeling a bit better, not too much wheezing in the chest, but still hard to catch my breath. Doc said the Prednisone will keep my heart beating hard for awhile! I have been using ambien to sleep at night, otherwise I lay there listening to my heart pound!
I copied that recipe too "M". That sounds good!
Sorry to hear your Mom dropped the box of stuff from her Mom! Must have been so hard to lose them!
Sending prayers for your Nephew Betty!
