Sweet Interruptions. Rm 282

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

More like you dragged yourself out for Chinese. Don't over do it Jaye!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Oh, April is right around the corner and I can hear everyone getting excited. Sorry those that planned on going had to cancel, but we just can't control these things.

Was playing canasta (on the computer) with 3 other friends and time got away from me. Need to get to bed as I need my beauty sleep. If I don't go to bed late I wake up in the wee hours of the morning and can't get back to sleep. Best time for reading though.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

We're paying for that big time, LK. Stayed up most of the night with coughs that can bust your ribs. You know how it is. What did the doctor said, LK? No more meds?

Pegi, if things run smoothly as planned, there'd be no bankruptcy, no illnesses.. nor divorces. Somehow I can't get into any games except for mahjong.

Good morning sistahs. I will try not to screw up this day. I will try to stay home. More hot teas again, and perhaps I'll also do a colons cleanse. Veges all day! Mister Kel of course will have his meat and taters..

Have a lovely Friday sistahs.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

spent yesterday morning in the hospital. I have a bladder infection. as soon as Michael found out I was going, he left Memphis and headed for home. he beat me here cuz I decided to stop and see the fat dr. he told me I have to eat right at least one time while on vacation.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

My God, sis. You need some cranberry pills. Take that when you feel a bladder infection coming.
How could you be gaining weight when you're eating bland food. That's eating right!
Get better soon, sis. Drink NO sodas and lay off the Bailey's.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Yuck kitty bladder infections are painful. Sorry for that.
Jaye I sure hope you get to feeling better soon.
You also Linda. Man what awinter this has been.
Me knock on wood have not been sick for quit awhile now.KNOCK ON WOOD.
I am supersticious about this.
We are off for three days now. So need it. It will be a good weekend going to see the tribute band to Queen tonight. Tomorrow night my manger is in a band so we are going to watch him. will be a good time. So lots of music going on. Really enjoying it tho.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Music is sooo good for you Ronna. It rejuvenates us I think....Enjoy !!!!

Where is there a canasta game Pegi? I used to love to play and haven't in years.

Cranberry caplets work for me every time. I am on a low dosage antibiotic that I take every day (for the COPD) so get the UTIs fairly often. At the first twinge I go to the cranberry capsules and in one day it is gone. My best friend right now!!!! They do work.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Barb, the Pogo game site has canasta. I play there often. There is an option to play with robots and I usually do that as some players get too serious about their games. To me a game is just that, something to while away the time. When it's over it's forgotten.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ronna, wish we can have such a nice weekend like yours!

Barb, it was you that told me of the cranberry pills. I got mine from WM, beats drinking cranberry juice.

Now I have to look up Canasta. If it's something like hearts, think I can get into it.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I don't know where I was when the cranberry capsule info went around, but I missed it. Good to know though, and I will pick some up to keep on hand.

Kathy, will you just STOP with all this health stuff already! Geesh! Try to be well for this coming week! Love you, Sissie!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

the weight gain is from my abilify. dr. cut dosage in half, if that don't work, then I have to stop taking it, and then LOOK OUT WORLD! I become a crazy persom
n. jaye, I haven't had soda in a month or any alcoholic beverages.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry your not feeling well Kathy! Drink lots of fluids, and flush things out if you can. Otherwise those cranberry pills work too!

Hope you guys are feeling better today with your coughing Jaye!

Jaye, I cam home with more breathing meds. I am now on Advair as well as the nebulizer. She told me I have COPD and it will come and go, but will probably never get rid of it! Being I smoked for years, as well as being raised in a home where parents chain smoked did not help!
I will be glad when I am done with this extended dose of Prednisone so I can sleep. That stuff gets ya wired!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Well, that just plain sucks! The only thing I can blame my weight on is my elbow. It just keeps bending, making all this junk food way too close to my mouth!😁

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Linda it will get better as time goes by and your body heals some. I also have COPD but no longer have problems with it. I had the same thing with my parents, I say I had smoked all my life as they both did even in an enclosed car. I would get pneumonia often and bronchitis. the last time was so bad it scared me into quitting. Haven't had either one since.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have quit smoking too, don't know how I would be if I was still smoking! Not an easy thing to do!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Never easy but worth it. I still have cravings and it's been 4 years but I just ignore them.

Glenview, IL

OMG, I actually Love cranberry juice...Think if i drank any other juice my system would go into shock!

So glad the for you all they make cranpills. Kathy, get lots of rest so your feeling good.

How are you feeling today Sistah jaye, i hope lots better.

Gotta get a move on here...getting my hair cut or at least trimmed. LOL DH paying..Is Sunday ever going to get here?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hi
Jaye - tried to call you guys to wish Kel a happy birthday - guess you were out having dinner :-)

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

DH smoked a pipe years ago, never a cig. But, I think our smog is a big factor in COPD. He is depending on his oxygen more and more, I hope he just isn't getting too used to it and thinks he needs it all the time. Don't know if that can happen or not. He had canceled his appointment with the lung doctor, but he may need to see him. Will wait until he sees our primary doctor on the 4th.

OMG the library is having a book sale on the 12th, maybe I should stay away from it. But, then I might miss something I should have. Have enough books here to keep me busy for months.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

So glad to hear the cranberry is working for you all. I have been dealing with it for several years now. My COPD wasn't too bad until about two years ago when I had the gall bladder out. Now I'm on the 02 - 24/7. I hate it but wouldn't want the alternative. I'm fortunate in that I have a wonderful pulmonologist and an excellent heart doctor. Between the two of them, they keep me going!!! I do the nebulizer twice a day LK. I was on Spiriva and Advair both but now I'm on all liquids through the machine. The best part is that they come in the mail and Medicare pays for them. No more of those $40 co-pays for them....I still carry an albuterol rescue inhaler if I go anywhere.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

linda, I gave up ssmoking 6 years ago, and my copd still acts up, especially if I sit in the nite air.
I get pneumonia at least once a year

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

This house believes in the cranberry tablets. We get them at Costco and Sam's. Probably the thing that kept her UTIs from being worse than they were.

Get well Sistahs 'cause I needs you ladies. Each and every one of you.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Just popped in to say we had an earthquake. First one hit a little after 8 PM and was 3, I didn't feel it, but at 9:10 PM a 5.3 hit and really shook us up. My monitor was shaking and here I sat trying to hold on to it as though that would save it if the ground kept shaking. I just hope there isn't another. I know some places will have been hit harder. Well, off to play a little. Everyone get well.

I thought if you had COPD it just kept getting worse. Maybe I should read up on it.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Wow Pegi! I bet thats scary. But you just seem like it nothing. Just another day huh? I do not think I would be able to even type what you did! Any damage anywhere? How often do you have them?
So the concert we seen last night was really good. Poor guy who was freddy was almost voiceless, cause he had a bad cold. But he never missed a beat. He danced and strutted shook his butt. Can you imagine how many hours of concerts he would have to watch to act like him?? Everyone one were on the feet. Clapping dancing. Just fun.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Perhaps mine wasn't too bad when I quit. I know I still have it but basically have enough other things going on..diabetes, arthritis, & leukemia, that lacking currant symtoms, I forget about it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry about the earthquake Pegi. Praying there was no major damage anywhere. I have never been through one, so I can't imagine it. Must be scary?
Glad you had a good concert last night. Sounds like fun!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Not reading anything else, came in to say we're at the sickness crest?? Kel was sent home early last night and I hope he stayed home tonight. Hacking coughs, mine were productive, his weren't.
I'll be up tonight to read all.. going to bed. Had to get up to fix hot rice porridge with chicken and ginger.
Love to all. Wishing all well.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Earthquakes hit so fast you just don't have time to get scared. Of course, if a big one hit in your area it would be scary. I hope I never experience one that has destroyed so much. There can be earthquakes around that I never feel and we never know when one is going to hit. Some people will say it is earthquake weather, not such a thing though. Whenever the earth wants to move it does. Insurance companies have earthquake insurance, but it is so expensive and if you were to collect I think you would have to spend thousands before they would pay off. I don't know anyone who has it, but every year you do get a letter offering it to you. They are making some freeways wider and one of them is close to us. You hear them pounding pylons into the ground, 60 feet down till they hit bedrock. I bet that helped wake up some of the faults. Besides Bedrock is where Fred and Wilma live, and Pebbles and Bam Bam. Just had to add that when I heard about the pylons going down to bedrock. LOL Don't know if there was any damage any where. I always seem to worry about the foundation of the house cracking, something I can't control.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We've had a few very minor quakes in MI. Last one I didn't even feel. I remember one 31 years ago, DIL and I were sitting in the Kitchen chatting when suddenly the plants hanging in the window started swaying. DIL said what's happening? I suddenly realized what it was and said grab the baby and get outside. It's a very unsettling feeling when your world starts moving.

hi ladies
i was in the big San Fran quake back in 89 ? Oct. not fun
not much going on here. snow an slush here. rain , snow , slush mix
windy too
Tim is in town.... i asked him a question, thinking i could handle the truth but his anwer was so shocking. i regret asking it.
I asked him why didn't he ask for a divorce years ago, since we both were not happy in it ? I have brought up the conversation over the last 10 yrs .
his reply was " i was waiting until the kids turned 18 " ...... knowing how unhappy, depressed, lonely and miserable i was . He was going to keep up the masquerade for 8 more years ? ! blame me for everything, lead me to believe it was all my fault . So if he was miserable in the marriage, i had to be also ? ! ...... He made me suffer all these years for his own pleasure ? ! am i wrong here ? who does this stuff ??? !!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sounds to me like he is a coward and now that you have told him you want the divorce, he has to find a way to hurt you. It is so like someone who has to "have the last word" type of thing. I would take it with a grain of salt if it were me. Just remember Sue - talk is cheap but support and alimony aren't!! And try NOT to lower yourself to his standard with nasty remarks. It will drive him nuts.....

I know Barb. I try and keep a smile on my face and show no reaction. I m a happy , good person and he is miserable and alone. :)
ok ladies i m going to read my new book James Patterson NYPD Red 2.
Finished James patterson Cross My Heart. it was very good
good night my sistah's sleep well

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Hang in, Sue!

mulege, Mexico

Sue, it sounds like he was not as miserable in the marriage as you were which means you were making him happier than he was making you. So you can take it as a compliment, I think. Your situation has brought up some memories of my only marriage which was many years ago. I still refer to it as an immunization more than a marriage. I will spare you any of the comments my ex made. They could not be taken as compliments. It was literally fifty years later that I was remembering some of his complaints and a light went on and I said, "Wait a minute. What about what you did (and didn't) do." Can't believe how he put the blame for things on me and I took it. Please do not wait fifty years to discard the crap that your soon-to-be-ex is trying to put on you.

hugs, katie

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Sue - he was just waiting until he wouldn't have to pay Child Support.........?!?! Nasty man.... !!

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Sue, you will get thru this I promise. I kinda went thru the same thing with my first marriage. Sorry for all your pain. It does hurt I know.
Today we are going to see both the girls and son in laws. It will be fun to see them for dinner. We meet at an applebees once in awhile. I can see my daughter who in pregnant. My other daughter and son in law just got a new truck!!! They are all excited. He is a truck driver and is working lots of miles and loving it so he now can pay it himself finnally.
I really miss the daughter who lives an hour away. Wish I could see her more. But we have to make the best of it. :)

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

hang in there sue, your better off without him. you will get threw this

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning sistahs. Another sleepless night for us both. Kel didn't go to work, and he'd be missing it again tonight. 3 sick days taken since he started working at the prison. If that flu could have waited another week, he wouldn't be forced to take days off.

Sorry Susan, sometimes the cats mashed the mute button, but you may be right. We may be having dinner that night. He thanked you for the well wishes. Would be nice though to gab.

Oh wow LK! COPD.... man that's tough. Good thing that you had quit smoking.
You, Barb and Karen must be heavier smokers than me. I quit before I hit 30, started at 18 on Pall Malls then 'progressed' to Marlboros!! Can't do the lights. But after I had quit, still had the smokers cough. Too bad, weight gain followed.
LK, after my heart surgery, my doctor told me I must never return to smoking. He didn't have to warn me.

Great that you had quit too, Sis Kathy. Never easy, but you regained your taste buds. I hope you're on the mends Sis.

Sistah Judy, if you're reading that, you'd know what I wish for you to do.

Trying hard Marion. Kel is very stubborn, unwilling to work with me. On the second day of my coughing.. I was using a herbal inhalant, and resulted in productive coughs. Whereas it took him more than a week to finally decide, he needed a breathing treatment. At least there's still his late Dad's Nebulizer and the fluids.
Fortunately, he's scheduled to be off Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat and Sun, so, he won't be missing too many days. When he returns Wed and Thurs, I'm sure he'd be assigned to car patrols, something away from the prison population :)

Ronna, so you were jamming away! Always feel better after a concert, right.. or hungry!
Have fun at Applebees.
So your son drives a semi?

((((((Sue)))))))) He should have been open about how he feels!! How could he have led a deceptive life and dragged you along? That's years you can't get back. Now that guilt should be off you. Shame on Tim.

Katie, you waited 50 years??? Thought I was more patient. I waited 25 years, with NO kids. I blame it on my Asian upbringing. The best part was at the end, he told me if he had wanted to marry a bitch, he'd have married an American. Reminded him that I'm a proud American bitch!

Pegi, I feel for you sistah. Perhaps next time, you can find something much more sturdy to hold on, instead of your pc! Aren't you supposed to drag Darwin and get outside?
I had experienced and earthquake, though not as bad as yours, Sue or Karen's, in 1968. It happened in Indonesia, which is very close to Singapore. We live on the ground floor, and I was sleeping when I felt the grounds heaving. My parents screamed at us, to get out of the flat.
We stood in our sarongs along with hundreds of apartment dwellers waiting for some word. Along one side of the exterior wall, there was a long crack, fortunately, just half an inch wide. My 2 brothers still live in the flat and the foundation is still secure.

This is a map of South East Asia. Singapore is at the tip of Malaysia. Indonesia has active volcanoes.

Jaye, I hope the prison is keeping up with an active deep cleaning for all to get rid of that crud. Sounds pretty bad!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

The prisoners get free medical attn immediately, LK.
But not the state workers. Many go to work sick too. Kel and a colleague got that flu from being in the rain for firearms training! Who shoots in the rain??? It's indoors prison?? Show how stupid the director of prisons is!
