Well now you do know when you or I or any of the others are down, this is the place to be, all friends and supportive. 60 sweetie is just a number..does Alberta like Ontario let you get your pension early with mnmalpenalty?
Just glad we know you are ok and may there be sunshine in your special day today

Missing you Susan and glad to know you are okay. Sending great birthday wishes for you.
There you are Susan! Glad you stopped by to say hello!
We can collect early here...or at least we could , I started SS at age 60. It's not much because I didn't work much, but it's more than I had.
Oh Susan, so glad to see you're okay. Hope your birthday is wonderful!
I so understand how you're feeling re job hunting. I'm a little older than you, but it just seems like they weren't interested in having a "mature" applicant. Prayers continue for you and Bob. How is he doing?
Bob's doing good.
Canada Pension starts the end of April for me (seeing as how my birth month is March). I dunno what I'll be getting.
Bob's "child support" has finally ended...... she had to give it up, now that neither "child" lives at home, and the judge wanted to know what reason she would have for Bob to continue paying her......
Well that is $$$ Susan, less worry. Is Bob still working?
♪♫♪♫Happy Birthday Dear Susan....Happy Birthday to you !♪♫♪♫
oh that we could get the "mature" applicant... our last job search we put "Senior Citizens and Retirees welcome to apply" and I reached out to MIL's Golden Group to look for folks.....
Maybe a small local owned business....for Bob Susan?
Debbie I've done just that- walked away so to speak. DSturned22 Monday and I neither saw him nor wished him a Happy Birthday and about ready to inform him that rent goes up 4/5 if he does not have a job.
Thanks Karen - yes Bogo = "Buy one get one" too funny its a term we know.... prob because of Payless Shoes. I'm just like you I do kind of pride myself on trying so very hard to have everything I say about others to be positive but Witchy has been truly a Mean Girl to the point of likening her to those so called popular girls in High School Movies....
I probably did not have the correct purse / car/etc. to get her respect.
LOVE potato chips Dianne... splurge! BBQ? Or those green bags onion.... or wavy ones with dip.....
You are so correct Betty... you are all so supportive.... I just have been so very needy and I am not comfortable when I don't have time to read and respond... don't want to be selfish.
I absolutely LOVE the word "INSPIRATION" and will try very hard to use that in some way in witchy leaving because you as always hit nail on head.
Probably would not have business if she had not made me miserable.
ROFLOL Toad in hole Karen :o)
THanks much LK and Barb.....
Betty FIL and MIL are so cute....if they were paying customers they 'd be our best customers...they drop by every other day after FIL's rehab/PT appts. We can't figure out if MIL trying to get out of house or trying to push FIL to get better by not letting him go home and hit the chair.
Love to all and (HUGS)
Mary
More and more businesses are realizing that we "seniors" are valuable employees. More dependable, don't need insurance, just do the job without expecting to be coddled.
I try to be careful when I give someone a nick name, I'm always afraid I'll use it to their face. Funny thing I have my senior moments and forget names but I always remember the ones I give them.
When we moved to Calgary, in '06, my cousin said that companies were looking for mature workers.... turns out she was wrong. Even a couple of years ago they were looking for young people into Social Media (ie: FB and Twitter) because that was the wave of the future for companies to advertise for no cost.....
This is a young and vibrant city, which is what I love about it, but... it's looking for young people - I'm pretty darn vibrant, but people can't see past the "over 45"........
Yes, Bob is "still" working. It's a permanent job.
Thank you all for the B-day wishes :-)
I don't know if Betty has power or internet...is horrible here. Dropped 30 degrees over night and everything is closed here from County buildings to Malls. Driving bans in place and
everything is just WHITE. DH even sent home early...which they never do.
Mary, DS will be 21 on the 24th...I so know your feeling. He isn't living here...so only so
much I an do. And the calls that "I have no food" break my heart...but...I gave him names of
food pantry's and churches to help. He would rather starve. sigh.
Stay safe everyone
Stay tough ladies, I went through a lot when mine got old enough to think they knew it all. They went out on their own, only to realize it was not so easy! Seems they all have to go through that, "I can do it" phase!
Debbie, please don't go out in that storm?
My oldest had his flight of independence. After a few day he stopped in complaining....I just spent $50. on toothpaste, shave cream, shampoo, soap, deodorant, toilet paper, etc. I just laughed and said oh yeah all those things mom used to buy..
Posted earlier but it's in cyberspace.
Debbie, must be stormy in your region, got an email early a.m. Saying one of the fabric shops was closed due to inclement weather, it's the one just across outlet mall where we stay in buffalo. Stay in Debbie!! Still storming here, mix between snow and rain..winds just a howling..
Hmmm winder if snow will be here for aster bunny so we can see his tracks
Hard being strong re the kids..didn't we all think our problems would be over once they got older??
Susan, am sure there is a job out there somewhere , even if it's just to supplement your nome..bet it feels good Bob not having to pay ex..halleluliah
Mary so glad In-laws are enjoying their drop in, bet they would love to help out a few hours here and there.
Does them good to be hungry and no $$$' good lesson in just how much was done and spent on them
Guess what ???? Surprise, surprise it is snowing! So heavily I cannot see the lake from the house. Schools are closing early even though the severity of this storm has been stressed for days. 3 timed the schools have cancelled the buses because of the weather forecast and not a drop of snow fell. I have battened down the hatches and am ready to ride this one out.
Mary it made me smile to read your inlaws are coming into your shop so much. I'm betting on the MIL's ingenuity getting your sweet FIL to drop in. Mary don't fret as you are not coming across as needy - just someone who has so much on their plate they don't know which way to turn. That's where we come in - we've all got something to chip in whether you want to hear it or not. Oh the potato chips are Lay's sour cream and onion.
(((Mary and Debbie))) excellent advice from LK. Hard to stay firm but you know it is the right thing to do. Growing up is hard - I sure wouldn't want to be a teen facing the world today.
Marion how are you and DS doing today?
Betty are you at home today or did you have to go into Barrie? Lots of the 400's (major highways) are closed in several places.
Pups are asking to go out - probably to make snow pups as a friend here on DG calls it - like we make angels. They love to roll around in fresh snow or just play snow plow.
Dianne
I'm here in Barrie Dianne, brutal storm!
Best you watch it from inside Dianne, wouldn't want you falling..
Safe travels home Betty. The live eye views of the 400 series make it look quite treacherous. Is it blowing hard where you are? Wind is just a howling here.
Please drive carefully Betty!
Dianne, no more whoop de doo's for you!
Good heavens - is it ever going to stop this year? We are getting ready for it to get going here too. It is rain at this point changing to ice tonight and snow tomorrow!!! Enough already!!!
Betty do be very careful going home. And check in as soon as you can. We worry so about you.
Dianne, sounds like you will be nice and snug with your videos and a good supply of wood (Thank you Diesel). Stay warm and I hope it passes quickly.
All of you please be careful. We seem to have lucked out this time. Cold here but a sunny day.
Dianne, yes it's just a howling brrrr
Suzanne's car went in for repairs, I was chauffeur for her yesterday and now today, maybe I'll let her drive lol
will check in..
have been playing with the piece I did extra on, on Monday..almost all quilted, thought I'd have binding on it so I can do some hand sewing tonight but not..oh well, Christmas is a few days away!
Please be careful everyone and stay safe! I need you guys..every last one of you.
Things are indeed an hour at a time as Debbie said.....up days and down days. She did leave the group therapy for one on one therapy which I think is far better. She was coming home with all the ailments of the others and was losing ground rapidly. The anti depression med is working albeit 2 weeks for full effect. In the meantime I have to be extremely careful she know where I am at all times or she goes into a panic. This too will heal in time.
This morning I learned that a BIL has had a stroke and that life support has been removed. She totally collapsed when she thought I might be going to see my SIL but I did reassure her I wasn't leaving her.
Thanks for being here and all your prayers. I sure can use them for the next few weeks.
So sorry to hear about your BIL Marion, sending prayers for the family! And more ((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))) for you and Sue!
Jeepers creepers Marion .. never rains but it pours for you!
Good to hear your sister's drugs might be working ^_^ Know it's too early to say, but, small 'YAY' from me ..
For all having 'kid probs' .. been there, done that, wearing the TShirt', and, lemmee tell you it was MORE than tough, MORE than heart breaking', but, here I am .. my son has turned out well and is now watching hie 2 teens go through 'THE PHASES".
Dianne .. the dentist appt was AWESOME !!!! Have a new built up tooth .. tastes kinda metalish right now ..
Hope the storm doesn't make too much of a mess for you and Betty!!
We have sun and cold temps, no snow thanks very much !
Making oven baked cabbage tonight, smells wonderful (not bad for a non smeller)
Have all of you in my T&Ps .. all the time
Toodles
~M~
Holding you close Marion. So many prayers going out now for so many of us. I'm so glad the good Lord hears them all.
Marion, prayers gong out to you and yours..just what you didn't need was news about your BIL.
Difficult time for sure..know you have to be there for Sue but just make sure you are priority #1.
Guess with all her furries it's virtually impossible for you to take her home, change of scenery etc? How old is Sue? Your BIL, had he been I'll? Big sigh
Glad "M" the dentist wasn't too hard on you except for the wallet of course
Love cabbage, was taking of making a good old fashion boiled vegetable stew Friday, craving for it..love cabbage, not the smell though.
Stormy all day, got 5 miles out from Barrie and roads were clear, no snow or rain..windshield did have ice on it..amazes me that within miles it can be stormy/clear
Kitties are losing their winter coat, living room shows it so vacuumed, washed the floors and if I had energy left I would dust..maybe once I have a rest.
Must say that the health food store products I bought a few weeks ago have helped me tremendously, that and warmer weather, not quite sure which did it..getting around much better..gee whiz, almost feel 21,NOT , but not 90 either. Lol
Between that and taking your meds regularly, you sound much better Betty. Glad you are on the upswing!
Happy birthday a day late, Susan. No work yet and a Big o birthday. No wonder you're a bit down. However, remember to count the blessings, too. Hubs is working and no more child support!! Two very good things.
I'm taking one inflammatory a day as I await the return of my neighbor who will bring pain pills soon and the arrival of the dentist - in about a week. The dentist is at our Lions' Clinic which is by donation so I will get a person that Dana tells me is great - and very expensive in the US - without a huge bill. I'm careful to have food with the anti-inflammatory as otherwise it does tear up my stomach.
Our weather is gorgeous. Heating up a bit so we are getting ready for our "winter weather" which is our hot and humid summer.
Woke up at 4am and could not get back to sleep due to tooth problem but it's not throbbing so I won't complain. I did get a nap this afternoon. Feel like I'm holding my breath hoping the tooth doesn't get worse before I get pain killers/treatment. I'm grateful it's tolerable and I don't have to deal with chores/work except, of course, feeding the fur babies.
Thought and prayers for all of you.
hugs, katie
Oh Katie, at least the warm weather will help..
A week is a long time to wait for a dentist when tooth is paining..you will have to stock up on freezing gel, chores can wait. You re up early morning, maybe a bit more rest is needed until meds arrive. Have the doggies been behaving?
Barb, am indeed feeling better, still quite tired but not hurting s much.
Jaye just posted that she read on Marion's Facebook page that her B.I.L. passed away. Please keep her and family in your prayers.
M...do you share the baked cabbage recipe? I haven't met a cabbage I didn't like yet.
Yes, I lost my BIL after suffering a massive stroke. He was a quadropelgic (?) for 35+ yrs but I must say he lead a wonderful active life until recently. I am not sure of his age. I do worry about my SIL as she was in the same situation as my sister...being caregiver for so long. We chat often and as soon as things are better here, I will ask her to come stay with me a while. We bonded closely from the day I met her lo these many years ago.
Sue is less agitated this evening but I think the anxiety medicines are now kicking in more. I am considering it a good sign. She isn't eating much but at least I have managed to get some food into her....even if it was ice cream. :-)
Thanks for letting me share as it helps me to know everyone is here. Your are on great group of people.
(((((Marion)))))
Sorry to hear about your loss Marion..must be tearing you apart wanting to be a support system for both Sue and SIL and can only be in one place at a time..where does your SIL live? Being caregiver all these years will leave her at an extreme lost.

Sending more prayers Marion. Deepest sympathy for your SIL and I'm hoping Sue will be well soon. I know it is a slow process but each day is a new beginning.
Good morning ..
Marion, you remain in my T&Ps .. you're a wonderful sister to Sue, and, will also be a support for your SiL, not an easy job doing all that .. I hope you take time for yourself too.
Hang tuff re that tooth Katie .. my appt yesterday was in and out in 45 minutes, went in with a broken tooth, and, came out with a fixed one .. as afeared as I am fo the dentist it was a good appt.
I will share the baked cabbage recipe when I get home today, busy one on the rise, early to the gym, pick up some groceries, then home to bake for a bake sale for Saturday, deliver the goods Friday.
Take care everyone
~M~
"M" did you send me your cold..-20 this a.m. just as one could walk with jacket open we are back to freezing time.
I always find cabbage hard to cook except when I boil..do you preboil "M"
Enjoy your day
Off to do lab work, then to Uvalde to pick up Rory and Nicholas for the week end. I hate it when you have labs at 10:45 and you have to be fasting.
See you all this afternoon.
