still 4th...can only travel 17.8 speed due to conditions

best they could do I think is keep 4th place but it's to finishing the endurance race that is most important and being safe!

Verona, ON

Certainly haven't bored me Betty with your mention of Cain's Quest. I have been checking in often. It is heart stopping when you see the updates sometimes. Other than our connection through you with Greg you would swear I have a vested interest in the updates and outcome of this race. Kudos to ALL the participants.

Joyce and LK I hope you are feeling much better today. The weather is getting too nice for you to be feeling poorly.

They have set up some feeding stations for the deer in my township. It has been a hard winter for the wildlife. The coyotes are yipping and hunting earlier and earlier each day. Their sounds are very unnerving on a daily basis. There are some rabbits around the house so I am expecting the coyotes to move in closer. I am ready!

Oh Barb beautiful blankets for Abby and Alex. You are so kind and thoughtful to think of them and their loved ones.Feeling better today?

M, Lorna truly is an inspiration ....... maybe something to promote an interest in her dedication to her rehab would help focus some attention to her need for the new leg.

Need to get moving. This is the third recliner I have been in since 4am and I can't get comfortable today. That will teach me to toss some wood around too soon won.t it?

Make sure you all do something nice for yourselves today ladies.

S L U G G I S H is my name today .. chemo drugs last night, but, I do NOT intend to take a back seat to 'that feeling', if I ONLY complete ONE task today, it'll be making a blueberry pie with the berrires we froze in August.

I kinda think anyone who crosses and completes the Cains Quest endurance race is a winner .. for what ALL have had to contend with they should ALL be recognized .. how wonderful Greg is still IN it.

Dianne, always my worst foible, doing stuff before I really should be .. you sound like me, just can't sit and wait to feel good enuff to do it !
Hope the Coyotes keep at bay, the deer here bouts are having a time of it as well .. not getting much for their foraging efforts .. we stopped feeding them in 2012 when a bag of corn went up to $12.00, they were going through a bag in a day .. adds up !!

Hope everyone is feeling, or starting to feel, better ..
Have a great weekend.. sun id shining here with wonderful temps +32F

Morning everyone. I went to bed at 9 last night but could not stop coughing, so I got up, took more meds, and finally fell asleep about 3, and slept till 9. I have a cup of hot lemon tea in hand, and will take a hot shower here in a bit.
Dianne, sounds like your doing a bit better, but you need to teach those dogs to move the wood for you!
M, hope your feeling better soon!
Betty, please don't feel like y our posting too much about Cains quest. Were all family here, and are interested in the updates. Always hate to hear someone is out due to injury. How is they guy that had frost bite on the fingers.

Waiting with baited breath! Too anxious to click on the sight, besides Betty I want you to tell us. Now I know you all have heard this before many times but here it is again - it doesn't matter what place you finish in, the fact you finished at all makes you a winner. There's the old Phys Ed teacher in me coming out, lol !

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

GO TEAM 7 GO!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Did you yell, did you cheer?

Team 1 was a local team from Labrador city as was the 2nd team

I'm just so elated

Thank you all for joining me on this adventure..now for the LNG ride home, may they be safe

mulege, Mexico

Great news, Betty. I've enjoyed following the adventures.

We went shopping today.

Our weather is warming up .time for all of you to get well and ready for spring while we start to wind down and go into survival mode as our weather heats up.

hugs, katie

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

WOOT WOOT WOOT!!! Awesome news, congrats to ALL who participated ... safe travels home ..

It is G O R G E O U S here .. have been OUTSIDE off and on, even walked the dog, just to the main road and back, but, haven't done that in a year or more, and, the dogs paid ATTENTION to me ^_^

Now, I am going to 'attempt' a nap !

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Melanie, I and Rita having a drink to celebrate the team win..I who doesn't drink spilled 1/2 of it just getting to the couch. Lol

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL, Betty. How much did you have before you headed to the couch? I had checked CQ before I came here so I saw the great news. Too bad they couldn't hold second, but way way better than fourth!

I'm feeling better today. Slept long and hard last night! I'm so sore and weak today. The weather outside is amazingly 55 and I so want to be out there, but just can't do it today.

Sounds like you're doing better, too, LK. Take good care of yourself.

Susan, we're worried about you, dear, please pop in and let us know you're doing ok.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hadn't had a sip yet Joyce..girls are still here chatting away..Greg and the boys are headed home tomorrow, likely reach here Tuesday if all goes well.We took a phot of the 3 of us toasting them with a sign congratulating team 7 and sent it to them

Jeff is taking advantage of Greg being away (using Greg's machine),
off snowmobiling with my brother Mike.

Joyce, go sit in the sunshine, will heal what ails you.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Great to hear your feeling better Joyce, and, I do hope you go outside and ENJOY!!

My nap went south as Lorna went and rented some movies, one is due back tomorrow .. "GRAVITY' .. so we watched it ... well .. I think, in some ways, Sandra Bullock could have won the Oscar for it .. not much of a story really, but the special effects were quite amazing .. some of the parts made me feel kinda nauseous .. I'm not someone who can watch someone 'tumble around' for very long before I start to get dizzy.
George Clooney had a so so part ..
Anyway .. to each his own .. am looking forward to watching "12 Years a Slave' .. and 'Dallas Buyers CLub' .. neither are available just yet.

Enjoy the after shocks of happiness following the win Betty .. just a wonderful accomplishment.

Made a casserole (mac and cheese) for supper .. and, I did make the BBerry pie . ..

Off to try and catch some of the Para Olympics.

~M~

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Thanks all for the good thoughts.

Betty, will Team 7 share their winnings with their support people?

Baton Rouge, LA

HUGS TO ALL
Dianne - Great to see how you are doing...

We are hanging in there... business is losing money as I suppose to be expected
I had hoped we would make money from day 1
Dianne glad the pups are enjoying their treats!

we have hired many new staff. DS 22 has still not found a job. I'm disgusted with him and disgusted with myself for being and feeling that way

Hugs much and love to you all
Mary

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good DARK morning!
Well, 'daylight savings time' has stuffed us back to darknedd in the morning ..
Guess it's all good at the END of the day though, it'll be light here at 10pm ..

Mary I kinda think I've heard it said you lose money on a new venture before you make it.
Sorry about your DS, and I think we all understand your feelings.

DH has been at a Sportsmans Show here in TBay since Friday. They set up then, yesterday it was packed, and he feels it'l be the same today .. he has a table along with a couple of police buddies, and, they have sold quite a bit. He finds it a LONG day though.

Guess we'll be off to the gym later this morning ..

Hope everyone has a great day!

Has anyone heard from Susan ?

Toodles

~M~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.

Mary hang in there. Rule of thumb for new businesses... it can take a year or more to start making money.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I've got my tote bag about half done Betty. Need to read through a few times on attaching the draw string top, it's not sinking into my thick skull.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I have heard the same thing Linda Kay. It is not easy to get a business up and running. Hang in there Mary - I'm pulling for you.

I haven't tried your tote Betty as I have so many things going on here now. Maybe later in the year I'll come back to it.... Got to finish Brandon's graduation quilt and get that to the quilter soon. I want it done and ready.

Congratulations to team 7 !!! What an accomplishment. They should be so proud of what they have done.

Hope you are feeling better Joyce.

Would love some homemade pie "M". It sounds so good.

I've asked on the sewing threads too and nobody has heard from Susan. I don't have a phone number for her. Does anyone here have one?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all

drats, where has the morning gone..craft room just a buzzing, girls doing tote bags...lol

want to chat with you all but will wait until I have a few minutes..

Karen, if you need help with something please just post here and I'll try to explain better while I'm right in the middle of doing same with the girls

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I have inner and outer bags done. Know how to put together, just a bit fuzzy on the drawstring top. I guess I'll figure it out. Can't sew today.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'll be back with it with photo's in a bit Karen

Verona, ON

Congratulations to Team 7!! A job well done. Do you think Greg will ever thaw out Betty?

Joyce glad to read you are feeling a bit better. How about you LK?

Well it is sap snow out there today. Warm days, colder nights makes the sap run very well. Local maple syrup people feel it will be a short but excellent season. They also think it will come on fast so they are all ready to go.

Carefully moved enough wood into the house for the next 3 days. Weather Liars are predicting a storm tonight, another tomorrow night and perhaps a large storm later in the week. I can feel where I moved the wood so will take it easy the rest of the day. Should have called Steve and Pam to come and help me but I hate relying on someone. If I want to live way back here I have to be able to do things on my own. I swore as a teen I would never be like my mam who just expected people would do things for her.

Time change has thrown the pups and I for a bit of a loop. I dread the next few nights as I don't and can't usually fall asleep until 2 or 3 am and I am always up before first light. Take a few days to get the old body adjusted.Coyotes are yipping and howling by 7 pm the last couple of nights so at least it will seem later when they start.

Mary just stay the course. I know you two have a business plan in place. As everyone has said it is difficult to turn a profit early on. Just think on the days that you have a great day it will seem wonderous!!! Having been self employed for 25 years in a business whose yearly sales relied totally on peoples' whim I can so understand any anxious feelings you are having.

Katie how is Max doing these days? I stepped on Duke last night in the night and all he did was wrap his legs around mine but I immediately thought of you.

Need to change the wash over and I can't stand the amount of dog hair on the floor so will swifter. Damn that bright sunlight - it shows every errant dog hair in the house.

How was the blueberry pie M?
Dianne

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Dianne we have a Black Lab/ Golden. She looks like a Golden but is all black. She is brushed almost every day and we still eat, live and sleep with dog hair. Good thing we loves her so much. We did go into this with our eyes open, we've had Goldens and labs before.

Verona, ON

LOL Karen.I have a Rottie and GS and they both shed even when brushed daily. Add to that my 2 white haired cats and you can imagine the dust bunnies I could have if I ignore the brushing and the vacuuming. My cleaning lady is a saint !!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Karen,

cut the fabric width of the 2nd bag we made (inner bag) allowing for the 1/4 that I will sew fabric to form circle (lack of better description)

I don't like an open seam so I zig zaged both sides

turned fabric in 1/2 inch the entire circle on one edge only

make sure when you sew this turnover where the seam is you leave a 1/2 inch opening for the cording

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, just as the girls were leaving it started to snow, seems to have stopped now.
I wouldn't disbelieve them re storms, they've been pretty accurate this winter!

As for Greg, lordy I'd be spending the next week sleeping and near the fireplace. Was wondering if he'll spend the weekend snowmobiling after all the miles he's put on, likely..lol

someone asked if they share in the funds, I don't know about that, know I certainly would give the helpers some $$ at least the flight and lodgings, perhaps they will.

thought I'd not have a lot of hair once Sailor passed on but lordy the kitties sure do shed as well.

Barb, our show is on tonight, will you make it??? Rita told me it was ok after watching the girls sew today and being tired just sitting that it's ok to take a bath and get my jammies on but she would pick me with a needle if I doze off..looking to see if perhaps it's on another channel earlier??? wish it was.

Mary, feel for you dealing with your son...it's difficult knowing you are doing all the right things but none works. As for profit, I too believe it will take time, maybe a six month assessment and go through everything and see where maybe things could be improved or cost savings.

Photo's of the tote bags girls made today. One even had the idea to attach a strap so her mom could clip in her key.

Rita's is photo 1, she needs to buy a bright hot pink button

Linda's Elvis bag..going to be for a co-worker retiring in a few months

Those are FABULAS!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Those are nice bags Betty!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning's

So dark out, almost looks Lille a rainy day but not, if anything a storm is brewing.

Body is still running on old time

Thanks for the kudos on the tote bags, girls were thrilled, all 3 are just learning, think I've got them hooked. Lol

Barb, what did you think of resurrection??

What are you all up to??

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Just getting up. Waiting on hot water for a cup of tea.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I loved Resurrection!!! I think I'm hooked after just this one show!!! Both Norm and I sat there and enjoyed it all. Still don't know where it is going and that is a good thing. Can't help but think that these people are coming back to right wrongs done in the past. Great concept in any case.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Morning, missed RESURRECTION as we watched '12 years a Slave' .. and .. well .. as with 'Gravity', I was unimpressed .. yes it was a good movie, but the actress who own the Oscar sure played a small role, the fellow who was the main character (Slomon, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor) was amazing !
Have yet to see Dallas Buyers Club, apparently Matthew McConaghy (sp) does a wonderful job with his roll.

Dark morning, but, already 27 F!
Took some snow off the edge of the roof yesterday .. it's a real BIG thing around here about getting it off .. we have a 'gizmo' to use, only thing is, what comes DOWN from the roof, has to be shoveled off the patio! I'm just a little stiff today ..

DUST BUNNIES! Well like Dianne and Betty, I could hang a sign on the backdoor "WELCOME to BUNNY CENTRAL" ! Between the 2 dogs and the cat it gets bit furry around here.

Back to the gym today, trying to shake the 'scaries', have a dental appt on Wednesday, for a filling .. have to take a huge dose of antibiotic prior to the procedure, and, that always sets my tummy to tumblin .. but, it all has to do with keeping my hip safe. Apparently bacteria from the mouth during a dental procedure CAN (might) gravitate to the operative site .. anyway, I am NO FAN of the dentist .. even though he's a really nice fella.

Off I go .. OH .. beauty tote bags Betty !!

Toodles
