No sleeping on the job allowed Betty.
That is highly unlikely..maybe I'll fall asleep in the dr's chair this afternoon.
Cut my scraps into 4" blocks, did panels and a few other pieces I need..think I can squeeze one more bag out of the scraps I've left
Karen, the electric olfa blade cutter you bought, does it work well?? Girls told me to buy one for the craft room, have a manual ne so if it's not ..oooh love it...I will pass
I think it does a pretty good job Betty. They are not as sharp as new but I can get quite a bit of added use out of them. It will be quite a while before I need to buy new blades. It does do a much better job than the manual one, but new ones have also been polished so you won't get a like new edge.
Got home a while ago, had a bite to eat after fasting all day and now here I am.
As far as the oncologist can see from the scan, it is CLEAN. Of course we still need to wait for the radiology report but we are feeling pretty good about it. Now to just relax...Storm coming in about two hours...
I'll go back and read about all your adventures today in a bit.....
Not too busy in here today. I got one of the blades sharpeners for Christmas Betty and I like it too. Like Karen said, they are not "like new" but so much better than what I was getting with the manual one. And of course, Norm got me new blades for Christmas... LOL
Where did you get your sharpener?
Glad to hear of the good report Barb.
I ordered mine from Amazon, was the lowest price. They also had good deals on Ebay.

What brand did you get. I can't find olfa.
Linda, mine is True Cut, True Sharp. True Cut was on the sharpener itself and True Sharp was also on the instruction pamphlet.
On Amazon it's $36.61 plus shipping
On Ebay the lowest is $40.57 but includes shipping.
That is what I have too. It was a gift so I'm not sure what was paid for it.
Morning all,
Winds are up, melting going on with drizzle
Won't be able to walk when it freezes as temps lower.
Glad you tried the bag LindaKay..reason for no flap? When I travel for a weekend with the gals they all fill their bags with goodies, right to the brim then close the closure so nothing falls out..even as a craft bag I add closure. Glad someone made use of instructions.
$99.00 here for the true cut..cheaper if I order from grace frame but then you pay shipping.
Will pick one up Monday when I'm n barrie
I will use this one for my crafts and stuff. Like a storage bag. I will try and make one with a flap. I think it will be nice for when we go to the beach this summer.
Did you see this on the news Betty? Huge sink hole in Ottawa.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/giant-sinkhole-pedestrian-death-close-downtown-ottawa-roads-1.2545953
wow LindaKay did not hear that, must have missed it on Breakfast Television.
Did notice a few bluejays this morning and yesterday saw ab out 50 or so wild turkeys..amazed me that they follow a straight line formation..didn't know that.
Meant to say my heart went out to the ladies Hockey team yesterday, with less than 4 minutes in the game and winning 2-0 they had to be feeling more than confident, then for things to change..watching tears in their eye, the look of devastation, couldn't help but feel bad for them.
school buses were cancelled today..called mom and told her if she is going out today to be extra cautious re ice..she is not sure but she just might come visit tomorrow and spend the night..have to find a project that she can do to occupy her.
Rita has running around the morning for her new digs so I'm looking for something to do.
Managed to cut my bags of black/white fabric into 4" squares, just sneeked through..had enough for front pocket, closure tab and handles..main bag looks ok, pleased with it but now I'm looking at all the little pieces and wondering if by stretch of imagination I could make the inner bag, a challenge for sure. Really don't want to purchase more b/w fabric because then I have to be looking again for a way of getting rid of scraps..an on going mission.
then will look seeing I had organized myself so well to see if I can find an arrow needle for hyde so I can sew the hyde onto the knitted neck warmer..Greg said he needs 2 for his trip to Labrador.(now he tells me) lol
so as usual, just putzing around
bet some of you are out in your gardens and getting a tan right?
Good morning everyone.
Yesterday I was going to paint tires for the new garden. I had them washed and stacked and had Tony open the plastic "can" of red pain - something I usually forget and then can't do myself. After he left I went to stir the pain and discovered it was a bright flouresent orange-red not the terra cotta I needed. Such frustration. This morning Tony opened all the cans of pain and marked the tops with a splotch of the color. And found two cans of terra cotta so maybe this afternoon I can get the tires painted.
Today we made an arch over the entrance to the northwest back yard. It was a two-person job and we had fun working together. I'm feeling better since stopping all wheat but am tired out now.
Tony has to go to his parents' ranch tomorrow so he won't be here. We are in pretty good shape on chores so I'll be fine. I have to remember to feed Chocolate, the neighbors' cat who lives here. He is very good about reminding me if I forget, especially now that we are including a little chicken or fish with his dry food.
This is the time of year we have to get things like the arch done. In another couple of months it's so hot that we are in survival mode. But today is light sweatshirt weather, clear and blue and beautiful. Sufficient unto itself is the day therein.
hugs, katie
ROFLOL, Betty my 2 children have started "trash" talking with their Canadian cousins re: hockey games. All in fun but it does allow them to stay in touch with each other.
Wet, wet day here and more on the way.
Katie what did you use for the arch..will you now plant vines? Hops are something else..grow inches while you stand watching them..does Tony's parent live far from him? for some reason I thought they lived with him..he has so many he cares for, thank goodness he has you.
Marion, then the Canadian cousins will be gloating tonight! we best not get too cocky because we could very well lose the 'gold'
I ended up but with a handful of scrap, few inches in length, had them over the garbage and Rita said she'd take them..can't believe I've no longer w/b scraps lol.. in order to complete the inside pockets I looked for leftover sheeting Aunt Muriel gave me..strip sew'd angle corners and they looked fine
inner bag look terrible but by the time I made the pockets I liked the bag, might keep it for me.
Even went through $$$ store buttons and lordy there are some nice ones in those packets..will pick up a bag of each color next week and pick the best of them and set them aside
talked about getting dressed all day, looking at the clock and it's nearly 3pm..hmm maybe I'll stay in jammies and just say I got into them should someone ask
Oh I am sure there will be some gloating and goading from the Canadian cousins tonight. All part of the rivalry. Great game!!!
As LNG as we remember it is in fun!!
How are you feeling today after cleaning out that refrigerator mess?
Wind is really bad here, keep waiting for those big maples to topple one of these days.
It is indeed all in good fun I assure you. They love picking on each other.
I have a few sore muscles and shock from having to buy so much at the grocery store to replace what was lost in every day staples. Ah but I do have a very clean freezer (albeit empty in the fridge upstairs) and fridge. Now if I could only keep it that way.
Dreary wet day here but just perfect for watching the game.
Not so LNG ago I went through cupboards and refrigerator as well as freezer and threw out all that was expired..like you, wasn't much left but my cupboards were organized.
Just spoke to mom, she might come visit for the weekend, depends on tomorrow's weather.
Called barrie quilt and sew shop, the blade sharpener was $79.99 and on sale this week for $59.99 so told her to put it away for me and I'll pick it up on Monday, excited..doesn't take much right? Lol
Glad you got a good deal on the sharpener. I ordered one from eBay today. It should be here next week.
As Tony was leaving he realized that I had not understood that he will be gone all next week, not just tomorrow. I'm kind of bummed but didn't let him know. I'll be fine but will have to reach out to neighbors for company and I get spoiled with him being here six days a week.
Two rambling dragonfruit plants will go up on the arch. I may also put in morninglories.
My lime tree is in full blossom. the other citrus are leafing out and growing. I have some good compost and they are all getting fed.
hugs, katie
Morning all,
I'm seeing a beautiful sunrise this morning, sun is actually coming out..see rays of sunshine on the couch..perhaps I should go sit in it and start my tan.. Ohhh hering birds chirp, can life get any better?
Snow must have compacted, about a foot lower..oh happy days, maybe within the next few weeks I an get all those Christmas bins brought into back shed, bother me on back deck.
Will be a good drive for mom id she decides to come for the weekend. Hope she does, I found weekends were the hardest, that and the time roger would always come home.
Was up early, Greg called last night wanting to know how thick my sewing machines would sew through, called at 10 think he wanted me to say come on over but I didn't..I will wait Neil 7:30am and call him and say I'm up and at it.
He had brought a project on Monday for me to repair for my cousin Doug, got it done this morning, only took 1/2 hr.
Notice one of the tree skirts needed edging so did that and put it in the to do quilting bin and now I will take out the sharon's stained glass piece and see if I can repair it without having to take it apart
Was just about to come upstairs and Rita came down with coffee in hand, said she couldn't sleep and would make another block for her quilt.
No can play until dusting and floors are done so best I get at it.
Quick trip groceries, would like to make chicken and slidders for supper, especially if I'm having company.
Girlfriend Pat said she would drop n this mornimg as well so with all going on thought it best I get dressed
And all that before noon. Lol
Got to do what has to be done early as about 3pm I can't move from body pan..good to know my limits
Was just thinking of Mary, wonder ow things are gong for her and Lance???
What do YOU have planned today?
Going shopping this afternoon at my old favorite quilt shop!!! I got a gift certificate at Christmas and Norm's taking me up to look around! I need to check my quilt supplies and see what is missing or getting low. Good time to stock up as I don't get up there much now.
Ooooh sounds like a fun plan Barb. I have to go to JoAnn's for some basics but I'd much rather be going to a quilt shop to browse with gift cert. in hand.
I finally finished the quilting on the Dresden Plate tree skirt, nothing fancy but at least that part is done. Just binding to do and it can be put away. I sure didn't expect it to end up being so stressful when I started it. On to another couple of the patchwork skirts, thanks to you generous friends, I have lots an lots of 5" squares to play with. I might think about making a slightly smaller one and putting a ruffle around it to make it a bit different. I do like the way the ruffle looks on the Giant Dahlia one. I do try to make some differences in each one even if I'm using the same pattern. Thinking I will do one with the borders like you made Betty.
Oh Barb, sure wish I could go shopping with you, go through patterns and fabric, look for that extra special tool, perfect day I'd say. Looking forward to seeing what you come home with.
now where is the Dresden plate tree skirt photo Karen..know I had almost cut out all I needed for this Dresden and can't for the life of me find the bag with them in..seeing I organized and cleaned all my scraps one would have to wonder if I didn't throw them away
know we are sewing our little fingers to the bone but think for but a moment, guess who will have our feet up closer to Christmas..lol
Mom's on her way, guess I will have to cook supper!!!!
got back to the quilt on the frame, if I keep it up it can come off tonight.
Laughed at Greg, I asked if he was looking forward to his Labrador trip, he said he sure was just sorry he wouldn't be hear for my birthday, we started to gab re sleeping bag for -40 said he bought one $420, I gave out a sigh, said I guess no birthday gift , we both had a good laugh at that..he said I'd have to rely on Jeff this year.
making some cover so that the snowmobiles they are racing can keep snow under the tracks, 3 more pieces to do, they aren't sure what they are dreaming up will work but they will try..personally, wrong fabric being used..said that's all they could come up with last night..I'd have to wonder if it didn't go under the track and get caught up in the belt but I'm sure they've thought that out.
That is a pretty pricey sleeping bag! Triple insulated I hope?
Betty, what did you use for the draw string on the tote bags, and where did you find it?
Very pretty. Love how you quilted it!
That is beautiful. kb
Thanks Linda and Katie, My big dilemma was trying to figure out how to quilt it. My skills are pretty limited in that department.
Beautiful skirt! I need to take a pic of the one that Betty made. Bet she doesn't even know this, but it matches the table runner I conned her out of last year!😊
Karen that is just the nuts!!! I love how it came out. And the quilting is very clever! Great job.
Karen, do love the tree skirt and yes, different quilting on it, someone will be thrilled!
I bought cording at fabricland, had bought some at Joann's but it's too big and when I go to melt the end on the element it doesn't seal it..Rita just went out and bought some for me. Can send you some.
Joyce, lol, pays to ask. Yes, lkely they were all leftovers from same bag of fabric..you will have to take a photo for me.
Barb, what did you end up buying?
Mom arrived, we drove to midland, took her to visit my uncle then home..just made chicken and sliders as a treat..Jeff is up, he and Greg gone snowmobiling, might make it for supper
Thanks Betty & Barb, I agonized for weeks over what to do. I'm simply no good at any of the freehand stuff, Usually do SID. I drew the lines for this with a fade away pen.
Thanks for the info Betty. I will go see what our Walmart has.
Did you make another bag LindaKay that you put an enclosure in
