Sticking my tongue out at you Linda. Shame on you rubbing that in. The temps here won't go above 32 until at least next Friday!!!! It's freaking COLD - 14* - and now the landlord has told us that the building will have no heat or hot water on Monday from 9 am until at least 3 pm. Temp won't be above 20-24. They tell us to make arrangements but where do you go? Norm leaves for work before 7am and there isn't anyplace open then where I could spend the day. So I guess I'll stay up late Sunday night and sleep under the covers all day Monday!!!!!

OH NO! Why is he cutting off the heat and water for the day?
Wow, Barb, that sucks. Does your library have an anteroom where you might sit until they open?

Susie has the plant swap open, come and check it out.
Rain really came down early this morning. It was welcomed and now it looks like we may not get much more. With rain and wind I have more pine needles to clean up. Decided that I should pile them around my two fruit trees for mulch.
I've been trying to think of a proud moment, and it involves my younger sister. I was so proud when she graduated from the Caifornia Highway Patrol academy and all her accomplishments during the years. She retired as a chief of the San Diego area plus raising an autistic grandson. Her life revolves around this young man who is now going to college. I helped raise her, she is almost 14 years younger than I am.
snow predicted for us.
Jaye glad your ok, what a scare
LK I love the tote bag
Ca is getting hit pretty bad. Yikes on all the rain. They sure needed rain but not this much mud and slides ! be safe
not much here
got out a bit with a friend.
got my donations to goodwill. 5 bags , some old drawers that had all my art and crafts in. Yep them gone too. I just don't see myself doing any scrapbooking ever again.
well off to get busy
I guess there is an electric pole that is leaning toward our building and it has three big transformers on it. They are going to replace it. Why they can't stabilize it and do that work in warmer weather, I don't know. I would go to the library Joyce, but I'm not supposed to go out if the temps are below 35* - and if there is any kind of breeze it takes my breath away completely. So I'm thinking even with the heat shut off the temps inside here should stay above 40* So I'm going to heat this apartment as warm as I can before they shut it off and when it gets cold, I'll crawl into bed. If it gets too bad I'll call Norm to come get me. I can still drive but haven't since last fall. Hate to admit I would be nervous doing so at this point.
Oh Barb, I pray that your home would be comfy enough for you that you won't have to leave it. Hate to know that you'd be on the road. This is the time for you to use those lovely quilts.
My sister Julia called me a couple of hours ago, to let me know that our only living uncle, mother's brother, just passed away. He was doing fine yesterday, attended a great nephew's wedding.
I wanted so much to return to Singapore before he moved on.. not only to thank him for looking after my younger siblings after my mother passed away, but, there were old pictures that grandad took that only Uncle Ali can identify the 'overseas' relatives.
His only daughter and her family had left for Indonesia on Friday for a week's vacation. Thank God, he's to be buried on Monday and not tomorrow, and I'm sure his daughter will be able to see him. New govt. law that if there's no illness, and autopsy will be performed. Muslims bury their dead the following day.
I hope this won't come in three.
Sorry to hear about your Uncle Jaye. (((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))
Barb please stay warm.
My heart hasn't resurfaced LK.
Were all here for you Jaye. We will hold you up and give lots of love and support!
I don't want to bring bad news here, but you are the family I got now.
Lots of shoulder here. Not hard to help carry the load for a while. hugs, katie
Thankyou Katie.. LK. It's my fate.
Cyber hugs, Jaye. You'll get them in person in April.
Speaking of deaths...I talked to Synda yesterday. She lost a really good friend on the 7th of Feb and she's having a really tough time right now. Let's keep her in our prayers.
I had never spoken to Synda before and I always find it amazing how when you speak to a DG sistah for the first time, it's like you've known each other forever!
Sending prayers of comfort to you Jaye and for Synda as well. Loss is so difficult but we are here for you...
Sending lots of prayers for comfort for both of you!
Prayers from this household added to the list.
prayers from me too.
they found out yesterday I have diverticulitis
Make sure you get lots of fiber so you don't get blocked up. And lots of water.
And NO strawberries!
My doc told me things with small seeds is a myth.
Wow! I thought that was a fact!
Could be just my doc. But I googled it too. Some reports say it is a myth.
Jaye & Synda ((((Hugs))))
I guess I will have to read up on the myths of diverdiculitis. My DH has had it since his 30's and his mother had it too, could be there is a weakness in the family for it??? I look up so many things on the Internet but never thought of looking into that. My main concern is cancer and the treatments they have for it now.
Moved a few things out of my way and got into one of the cupboards out in the garage. Large plastic tote filled with material..........isn't that strange since I don't sew. We used to find material with different prints on them and use for decopauge way back in the day. Now this material has been sitting out there for 13 years and I had completely forgotten about it. Started looking through it, small pieces and a few large. Maybe I thought my mother would sew for me, one of her passions. Material used to be so reasonable back then. I may have to have that garage sale sooner than I thought. The things I used to buy then I'm not interested in now. Crafts came first before gardening in those days when my kids were young.. Also don't know what I can do with many pairs of leather gloves that DH brought home when the company he was wroking for moved heavy machinery out of dry cleaners, etc. when they went out of business. Darn, gloves are just too small for me now. Nice soft leather too.
Pegi, we have a shed crammed full of junk, if we ever clear it out, I have a feeling we will be surprised what got stuck in there too!
Morning everyone!

This is what the Mayo clinic has to say about diverticulitis.

Thank you sistahs for the comforting words. I never could cry for my mum, till yesterday. Just thinking of my uncle, finally reunited with his favorite sister, opened the flood gates. Yes, it was cathartic.
Thanks LK. I've always wondered if fiber's needed for diverticulitis, why MIL was discouraged from eating beans... tomatoes (small seeds) and nuts.
I'm glad that's proven a myth now.
Pegi, you'll get lost of buyers if you were to hold a sale on old crafts. Used to be, one can indulge on more than a couple of craft hobbies. Not anymore. If the price of good quilting fabric goes any higher, I may have to turn to my stash and not shop anymore. Thank God, I have years of that! Yarn price is atrocious too.
Sue, I never got into scrapbooking. I think Laura and her mum Trisha did. That could be an expensive hobby.
Marion, I hope all goes well with your check up at the doctor's.
Sistahs, don't ask what it is, as I forgot!! I talked to her last night and I think the laughters got in the way fo my memory!!
A tad warm.. and I can smell some green outside.
Glad your warm today. It is all of 33 today. Sure will be glad when the weather figures out what it is going to do!
36 here today, 25 tonite. gray and dreary looking outside
Sending lots of support your way Sue. Praying it is a smooth one for you!
Sue, sending hugs and prayers for you and the twins during this time. Only a few more weeks and we won't have to hug via the internet!!! :-)
Yes, Jaye we did laugh a lots yesterday. Kim was thrilled she actually got to speak with you too. Okay I had an echocardiogram and stress test today. I have been have some tightness in my chest since mom passed...mainly when Sue calls all upset because I am not always home to answer her call. The doctors think it is stress but at my age they thought it best to have these procedures done. Although they keep telling me it is precaution, I still worried and fret. Just my nature I guess. Kim says "if I don't have something to fret about, I won't be happy." Gonna get that kid!!
In the 70s here but has been overcast all day..really heavy fog this morning. Rain is moving in and tomorrow we are not supposed to be out of the 50s. We shall see.
thanks for the kind words. Kids don't know yet. waiting until after their birthday. Such a burden is lifted . I just hope i can keep the house. He says he will let me ect... neither one of us want it to get ugly. We don't have hate or anger to one another. We both are not seeking out to screw the other. So lets hope it all goes well. i think it will.
it is a strange feeling. bitter sweet. don't really now how to feel yet ? He left today and didn't say goodbye. the fake " i love you " is gone. No more fake kisses goodbye. Relief for me.
Well LK and Sis Kathy, we're supposed to see 33 tomorrow after a 70 degrees day today.
Sue... D isn't always a nice process, but I hope yours will be bearable. Hugs sistah.
Marion, can you imagine if you had to recite the rosary daily.. you'd be worrying the beads to death!!! Lol.. my late MIL worried over everyone and everything and when that feeling hits her, she'd be saying the rosary. She'd do it more than 10 times a day, even when watching Lawrence Welk! So every year for Christmas, one of her kids would give her a new rosary.
Sue needs an activity that will force her to mingle with people, if she doesn't want to live close to you.
Kim sounds so much like you. I'm looking forward to hear all about you, from her!!
My sister that lives in France, just called me up, letting me know that her sister in law died yesterday of cancer. She's 63.
Goodness, Heaven must be busy...
Sorry Jaye. Please let them know we are praying for all the family.
Marion hope you get good reports from the Dr.
Thank you very much LK. I know she'll appreciate it. What's sad, is her SIL (wife to her DH's brother) has only one sister and they're both kids to only parents who were the only kids. Zi's DH is the same way. His parents had no other siblings. So, the family didn't know what to do.
Zi took charge and called for the priest to give Frances her last rites.
Frances kids and DH were so helpless until the funeral director took over.
My poor sister.. when I told her that I wanted my body to be donated and then cremated.. she said I'd feel the pain!!
Lolol. Smart.. but not too smart sometimes..
The rains have stopped, and it was a nice warm sunny day. So much mud had to be clearned out for a lot of people. They live in the foothills where it is beautiful until the fires come during the summer and they said it takes 5 years before all new growth is back, but the rains come in the winter and cause a all the mud slides. My plants are humming a happy tune. I have a lot of clean up to do now, but working outside is such good therapy for me. Of course, stepping in dog poop is not a good thing. I always manage to miss cleaning up some and naturally I step in it.
DH seems to be doing OK except for the aches & pains of arthritis. Next week he sees the oncologist and will decide if this new drug will be the next step. It is one shot a month for 6 months. Hope he can handle it.
mike goes back to work Thursday in Georgia. yippee! I get the house back after 3 months. be proud of me sistah's, I didn't choke him
Cancer is such an ugly thing! I'm sorry for your sisters loss, Jaye, and for all the misery facing you and your hubby, Pegi.
Good luck, Marion!
Whew! What a relief he's still among the living!!
