Popeye's - just across the Blvd. from us - maybe a mile as the crow flies. We have it at least once a week. DH loves it. I like the spicy variety.
Storms all missed us here. It's sunny and gorgeous today. Big fat robins out there yesterday and today.
General Discussion & Chat: Sweet Interruptions # 280
Oh you're lucky Carole! Maybe I should consider it a blessing that Popeye's not within my reach. I'd be using more than 2 bottles of Lantus a week!!
Big fat robins?? Could they be harbingers of spring? Hope so!!
Still nothing on my forsythias, and no daffodils buds yet.
I love Popeye's chicken but not the spicy...does a number on me insides. Sounds like you had a wonderful day with Kel and he was thinking of you going to Hancocks.
I got all excited when you mention JD...duh! Oh well JD in a bottle will do just fine. Baileys is a given for every household. :-)
Kim and I spent the day running errands and a horrible trip to the grocery store....replacing staples that we lost with the fridge incident. While we were out we noticed a new Mexican restaurant and of course we had to do a quality control test for future events. Fantastic is all we can say. I had the best fajita burrito with mole sauce and Kim had carntas both were exceptional.
Rainy and grey today but Kim has decided to cook dinner so that will be something special. She is making chicken with spinach and feta cheese wrapped in phyllo. Dessert will be strawberry and rhubard crisp from a recipe she saw on FB. Life is good.
Yes ido want to do the plaster foot and hand thing with the grandchild. Very cute idea. The geology would be good to except I do not have any photos do not really know of any in our whole family. Will have to ask mom. Any other ideas? Will look on pinterest. Haven't yet. Such a procrastinator. One of my co workers said dont worry Ronna I know the baby will have a cookie in each hand. Haha. She is so funny.
Glad to hear you out for a day. I have never had Popeye chicken. All we have here is KFC and churches chicken.
Great news, rain is coming the end of the week!! Today DH was watching NASCAR and wanted me to come and look so I could see what rain looked like. I must get ready to collect rain. Just so the storm doesn't pass us by. Will be so dissapointed if it does.
Next time DH is hungry for chicken I'll suggest popeye's. Haven't had theirs in a very long time. Had some KFC a couple weeks ago and wasn't too great. I try to say away from deep fried anything. I do get hungry for french fries though.
Pegi I sure hope so for all the folks and especially the farmers there. Seen on the news that they have been cut off from and governed water? So sad for them. It looks pretty dire there.
Praying for rain too.
rain here tomorrow, wish I could send it to those who need it
I'm here, back from a painful dentist visit.
Marion, if only I could have JD with my JD! You'd certainly know about it!
LK, Church's is good. It's owned by Cajun Operating Co. and is the biggest competitor to Popeye's in Louisiana. My ex preferred Church's to Popeye's. I think that company bought over "Fat Albert's" in the 70s.
There was a Church's at MB, but closed after a year. People around here who don't know nothing about Cajun food, are used to "Bojangle's" chain, which has terrible food, and advertised themselves as "Cajun", operated along the East Coast and Washington, DC.. but I can tell you this. I spit out their chicken, told one manager that it's not Cajun rice!! Yes I am passionate about my food, and I know I'm qualified to certify Cajun cuisine!
Pegi, I too wish I could send you rains..
Sorry I can't return any calls today. Could hardly talk. At least I could use my fingers!!
well, that explains why you aren't answering the phone
hope you feel better soon
(((((jaye)))))
Hope your feeling better soon Jaye!
Awwww so sorry Jaye hope it's all better soon.
Me too wish you feel better.
I am over the rainbow today!!!! After my GP reviewed the test on my hands he strongly recommended I not have the surgery......I am to go to Walgreens or some such place and buy an elbow brace to wear at night. He knows as he is now going back and forth to John Hopkins to have nerved damage repaired as best it can be from the type surgery I was told to have. I think I will trust his advice.
Now for my stress test to be okay this coming Monday.
That is good news Marion.
Wow that is great Marion, At least give it a try, if no help you can always consider the surgery then.
If it is necessary surgery Marion your arm will let you know. I too would go with the brace for now and see how it does....Good luck with your stress test.
Hope you are feeling better soon Jaye.
Also hope you get the rain you need Pegi.
very good news marion.
Yes I would try the brace too. Jaye you certainly have been sick lots this winter. You have to get over this my lady friend. Mouth feeling better now? Dentist they are the good friends when no cavities. Knock on wood have not had anything bad for quit awhile now. Yeah.
Two rain storms are coming in so they said we should have rain by the end of the week. I'm so happy about it. Getting a trash can ready to collect some of that precious gold. Just don't want to go out in it unless I have to. People forget how to drive when it rains and there are so many fender benders.
Glad you aren't having that surgery, Marion. I was having trouble with the TMJ joint in my jaw and a dentist told me never let them do surgery. Once they operate on that it is never the same.. I'm not bothered with it now, but did wear a special plastic brace in my mouth to keep my teeth from grinding at night.
Just read a good article from John Hopkins about cancer and chemo. Was great article and I had to print it out for further reference.
Thanks everyone. I, too, am over joyed at not having to have the surgery. It scares me when someone starts messing around with the nerves in my hands......happily will wear elbow braces if that will solve the problem.
It is supposed to be clear and warm here today...reaching the 80s but tomorrow they say our high will be 60...go figure. Rain predicted for Wednesday and Thursday.
Workers will be here soon to install the a/c unit in the dungeon...unable to hook into the central system but this will work just fine. Kim did take some pictures but hasn't emailed them to me so far. When she does I will post. Found some prior to all the work so you might understand better why it is referred to as the dungeon.
Pegi, great about finding the article about cancer and chemo. I say this morning that some very hopeful research has been done at UF re: prostate cancer. I still keep up with what is going on in hopes of finding a better solution with longer results.
good morning everyone. 60 today, low 40 tomorrow
Just when you think it is over.....boom!!
hugs everyone ♥♥♥
Hugs right back atcha Thunder. Thinking alots about you .......hope you are sewing up a storm.
ROFLOL Sue, teachers hate those also. Actually Kim hates the ones that parents insist on calling because their child is failing and mom doesn't understand why. Teacher's side: doesn't do any work, fails test and then tells mom there is no homework.
I'm here. Been busy chatting with a brother and a friend living in Beijing on Facebook!! I'd call that chatting across the continents! Imagine if I were to make phone calls.
Thanks Ronna, but now it's my mouth that needed attention. Still have more dental work to do. As long as I can chew my food, I'm okay.
Pegi, I have about 3 trash cans full of rain H20. That's what I use to mix fertilzer in.
Come on now Sue. Tell Cookie to bring out some red wine. Coffee is good.. but wine is more therapeutic!
I've started doing simple asanas. Slow and easy and learning to breathe again.
That's great if you don't need a surgery, Marion. Nerve repairs are actually quite iffy just like back surgeryies. An elbow brace is much cheaper and not invasive! Hope that will work for you lady.
I've talked to Kel and he said that he'd call you on his day off this week. He had paid attention to geography in school ;) Really appreciate you and Kim for willing to pick me up.
That's bad when teachers are made solely responsible for children's education. Parents should get involve. I always check the kids' backpacks when they get home.
It's 50 now.. was 60 yesterday.. and 80 a couple of days ago ;( Supposedly to hit 20s one day but I doubt that.
Hugs back Thunder!!
Am wondering what my sistahs answers will be to this question.
Don't include important events like marriage.. birth of kids.. career.. dig deep and think of your answer.
What is the proudest moment of your life?
Hmm.. maybe a wrist brace might work for me.
I use a wrist brace for doing a lot of cutting, both with scissors and with rotary cutter, saves a lot of fatigue.
My proudest moment? I think when DGD Amanda graduated high school. It was a long fight, everyone else had given up on her(she's very attitudinal or she was then), she was in with bad company and not making very good decisions. I talked her into going back and had to give her pep talks on a daily basis. But she made it, finally. She has done such a turn around with her life now, is a great mom and hard worker.
That's awesome Karen! Yes, a well deserved proud moment in your life.
My proudest moment is probably when I was able to be financially stable enough to help out others when in need, as well as making quilts for charity. Nothing makes me feel better than to give to those in need.
And you're not lacking in the benevolence department, LK! God makes sure you'll keep on doing that.
My own personal proudest moment would be getting my GED (diploma) I quit school 3 times. Many years later joined a program at one of the community colleges. And through them got the GED. And then took some college classes. Ended up getting a job in the college financial aid office.
Yup !!! Could hardly believe it when I passed that test !!
Good for you Thunder!
Jaye what is your answer to that question?
And have you ever used coconut oil? Does it come in a bottle? I have seen it in a few recipes. Would it be in the Asian section at Wal-Mart?
That's perseverance Thunder! Proud of you!
I don't use coconut oil Thunder. You'd find coconut oil at health food stores. Asian stores sell the coconut milk, and that you can find at WM.. grocery section. This is primarily used for cooking.
My father's race (Indonesian) use all forms of coconut in the cuisine. But doctors back home try to discourage the Malays/Indonesians and even Indians from using too much coconut products, especially as there's some saturated hydrogenated fats. These are the races with high cholestrol. The Singapore Chinese don't use coconut products.
At one time, Indians and Malays use coconut oil for frying. Then they switched to soybean oil.
Since coconut oil became the darling of health gurus, as a miracle oil, I haven't change my opinion on that. I still use coconut milk now and then when I want a traditional curry. My cardiologist said that my veins are abnormally narrow, so why take another chance at getting my arteries clogged.
Coconut oil is derived from dried copra, where the oil is extracted. Whereas coconut milk is from shredded fresh coconut flesh, soaked in water, and the milky liquid squeezed out.

My proudest moment:
I have a few, but this is special.
My niece was then 10. She was crying her heart out when her older brother bullied her. My sister failed to stop her tears. Older sibling and younger one tried too. Brother apologized and begged her to stop. Suraya wouldn't.
She was inconsolable. All of a sudden, I felt a pressure that had to be released.
Civilized me would normally move away but sistahs.. intentionally.. I farted in their presence.
Loud too!
Suraya laughed and she literally dropped down on the floor holding her belly.
Soon the rest joined in! Laughing of course.
Why do I call this a proud moment? Suraya is 19 now, she told me over the phone last year, that when she's down, she instantly thought of the only time I farted right in the middle of a major crisis!!
And she loves her crazy auntie for that!
Wonderful story Jaye
