I found this Thunder. Again, coconut milk is what most Asians use in cooking. Grandma used coconut oil for her hair.

Wonderful stories!

I actually graduated after all my kids. I had finished junior year, got married and had 4 kids. I was a grandma when my DIL wanted to go back to school but was nervous about it so I told her I would go with her. We graduated together in 1985 I was 42. The whole family gave us a party. My kids painted my car all over..I had a black Lincoln Town Car...nearly caused accidents when people saw it. I was glad I did it, but more for her sake than mine. She's my ex DIL now, has been for over 20 years, but I'm still her mom we're very close.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Your DGD have you as a role model! A testimony of how great you are Karen when your exes still want to be close to you. :">

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

It was a no brainer Jaye, she's the mother of my grandchildren. That alone would keep me at least civil. But my son asked me to stay close to her because she needed me. In a way she did, She lost her mother when she was 8. She was married to my son for 12 years. She took me as her mother then and it wasn't going away because the two of them couldn't get along. It takes two to make it and it takes two to break it. When they were no longer kind to each other it was time to end it. Both have remarried and both are happier now. All four get along very well, there is no reason not to. Her daughter from her second marriage is as much my granddaughter as her older sister. It's just the way we chose to go on.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

This I can say, she's blessed.

My uncle's first wife is still called "Aunt" by my family. When they were divorced, I can't understand why grandparents and mum were good to her. Mum explained, you don't throw away love over a piece of paper ;)
Uncle's second wife was jealous for a while and thought that she had to do some brown nosing! Lol!!

I fully understand now. My ex' dh's family still considers me as one. Not just with words, but actions too. I am really blessed.
In fact my ex was supposed to stay here for a couple of months!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We made the decision to do what was best for the children we all loved. The kids were lucky they got wonderful step parents.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning sistahs.
Rains and 40 today. Pegi, I want you to have all my rains! Soon I'll need The Ark!
At least I'm not having snow.

Cats training going on right now. I swear they create all sorts of scenarios just to chase each other. Love it when the oldest cat would just sit, wait for one to run by him, and he'd start slapping!! And he'd get the next and the next, not exerting any energy but moving his right paw!
He must be saying "Oh those young uns!"

Do what you love today.. stay warm sistahs.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Same weather here today Jaye. 42 with a light rain!

Jaye, you need a video camera to catch some of their silly antics!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Each time I bring out the camera, they stopped!! Trouble is, they're always aware of where I am and what I'm doing. Something out of the norm, they'd get curious and stop!! I I'll catch them unaware one day LK.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Uppers 50s and rain. Temps to start dropping after noon so we shall see.

Karen, your family is truly blessed with you as the Matriarch. I agree....family is family forever and always. My late brother was my half brother but only when I tried to explain to others was the word "half" every used. That because him and my mom were so close in age....buddies at grade school and friends for life!!!!

Jaye, so can relate to the kitties. Baroness Bobbi Bad Butt is a handful. She had to have the Baroness title as Kahlan (Kim's kitty) is now know as Princess Pinky Paws. I was having my lunch yesterday while reading my nook and needless to say was very engrossed in what I was reading. Raised my sandwich (tuna) to take a bite and had this smallish b/w beast attached eating on the other side. She just gave me this "what? I'm hungry too" look.

Well today is the today I cook for everyone..girls have play practice until very late so I do this on Wednesdays. Baked turkey breast has been requested so I guess I have better get off my duff and do some other things before I start cooking.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Love those kitty names Marion! Enjoy your dinner with everyone!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm here. Have a bad cold. I've been reading but not really up to posting. Today my cough doesn't seem as deep as it has been, so I hope I'm moving in the right direction!

Going to an all day seminar next Thursday with 3 other friends. It's put on by the OSU extension office in Springfield. They provide breakfast and lunch. Sounds like a really good day.

Sure hope I'm up to cleaning house tomorrow. Since I'm not giving plasma this week, I need that cleaning money!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

You better be getting over that cold my dear. I am so looking forward to seeing you in April. What is the seminar about?

Slow drizzle and temps falling. Wishing now the kids had requested soup or stew for dinner rather than turkey. Oh well, I can deal with turkey.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

It's about perennials.

Here is the site if you'd like to check it out. Sorry though, you can't come. Registration closed on Monday!😜

Go.osu.edu/perennialschool

I'm really better today.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Geez that a true friend telling me I can't come over a minor thing as weather, distance and the fact registration closed on Monday. :-) I imagine it will be a very interesting seminar to attend. I used to do that alots when I lived in Gainesville but not so much here....they bring in the people I knew from G'ville too.

I am glad you are better...this weather is enough to put us all in the hospital with the crud.

Cookie i completely forgot about that ! uhg. got side tracked with kids 4H. Neighbors had baby goats born this week and i was helping them. To many other things were in my brain. :(
today one goat had triplets , one died. two are still holding on.
GLad your cold is better.
Marion she has some nerve doesn't she LOL
cold here today -3 this morning . got up to 22

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Tomorrow is supposed to be a yukky day, glad I got my running done today. Hoping Friday will be better as I will be on the road again.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Temps here not to go above 25 all week!. With snow flurries thrown in for good measure. I need some heat so I can go out!!!!!!

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

One of my proudest moments is. When my youngest daughter was a junior in hihg school. The band was getting ready to go to Florida the trip was very expensive and we just did not have it to give to her. So she was not going to go. Then just before the band was due to leave, a family gave the instructor a fully paid trip and the instructor told Keri she was going because someone paid for a student that was not going to be able to afford the trip. She was so excited. She wrote the family a very touching thank you note. Then I asked her were your friends happy tou get to go? She said she never told them she wasnot going. It brought tearsto my eyes. She was so grown up about the situation. Still proud of herand all three of my children. Its always been a hard road for us but I have some pretty wonderful kids. My son being in the Army serving two times in Iraq. My daughter, Amanda graduating from WMU with two majors. Sorry I guess I am very emotional today. Kinda going on and on. This weather has me down in the dumps

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Bad here today too Barb, temps are in the minus digits.

Sounds like you have very good reasons to be proud and emotional too. Thanks to your son for his service. Never apologize for being emotional, we all have our moments and that's why we are here....for our friends. This darn winter has me down too and I'm sure others of us also. BTW we have broad shoulders if you need a good rant too. Isn't it wonderful to be so proud of our children? Nice to feel maybe we did something right along the line.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I so agree with Karen.

Karen, it won't be long and we can hopefully be a tad warmer....looking forward to seeing you at Pidgeon Forge! Safe travels tomorrow.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Tote bag I made, it still needs the draw string for the top, and a lap throw I made with the Dresden plates in the sewing thread. I need to sandwich it, and get it quilted.

Can you tell i like blue?

Thumbnail by taters55 Thumbnail by taters55
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I love blues too Linda. I like the way you combined the Dresdens with the 9 patch. That's Betty's tote pattern isn't it?

Marion, I just keep hoping it will end soon. We are in minus temps today.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes, that is Betty's pattern!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ronna, that's a very touching story, and I believe so much in God, that He made a way for her to go. You truly have a wonderful daughter that doesn't demand much from her parents. I'd be proud too, to listen to a humble child. Pat yourself on your back, you taught her well. She didn't think of herself first.

Barb, would you like some Bailey's? I still have a whole bottle!! Warm you up all over! :D

They're beautiful LK! Like the idea of the nine patch with the Dresden Plates. You've been a busy bee!

I want to thank all my sistahs who pray for me.
We escaped a collision last night, at precisely 8.07 p.m.
Kel had to do a pick up yesterday at the beach, and we were of course in the regular white truck. He had about 5 tall double door fridges in the back, and normally, he'd drive about 8 miles below the speed limit, just to be safe. Last night, he chose to do lesser than that.
Lola was with us, of course, and instead of her usual 'perch' on the dashboard , I was holding her.
All of a sudden, Kel had to put on his brakes HARD. An SUV in front of us, stopped did a complete Uturn in out lane!! And there was a center turning lane! If Kel had driven the normal speed limit, fridges were sure to be landing on our truck's roof, and that SUV's rear would be smashed.
And Lola.. she'd be thrown off the dashboard!! And I won't be here to tell this story!
That driver didn't even stop with all the horn blowing.
As someone said, if we had been driving a semi, there's no way Kel would have stopped in time.

Once we got going, after Kel had checked his load, I thank God and praise my sistahs for your prayers.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh close call Jaye, so glad all are safe.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh that is scary.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

When we got home, first thing I did was to call my kitties and here come Dallas, Cupcake, Muffin, King Louie, Babs, Jackie, Forrest, Goldie, Glitter and Nubie. I kissed them all!! Then had to look for Possum.. he's blind and can't see mummy. Hugged him and told him that he'll always be fed!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So glad to hear your OK Jaye!

Look who I have for the week end! He is growing so fast! He loves lemons!

Thumbnail by taters55
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Awww lucky you. Sooooo Cute. Isn't it funny about little kids and lemons? Amelia loves to eat them too. I could never ever do that, curls my toes just thinking about it.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Jaye, wow what a story I am so glad you all were alright. Man I can not believe the guy never stopped. Close call for sure. Thanks everyone I am proud to be a mom to my children. That my parents are still amung us and able pretty much tomtake care fo them selves. Glad for our jobs we have and our health. Linda I absolutley love your tote bags very beautiful. Bbbbrrrr it is so cold here tonight. Just got out of work. Felt really good when I first waled out but that didnt last vdry long. I got cold really quick. Well night all. Thatnk for being there and chatting Gods speed to you all.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'm the same way Karen. Won't take any acid in my mouth when I was small. Maybe that's why I'm a diabetic!

LK, you know Dylan's a heart throb. Oh grandma will have him so spoil... enjoy your weekend and kiss those cheeks for me.

Ronna, if you get cold so easy, make sure you're not anemic (sp). Your parents are fortunate to still be independant. Think we all would like to live long, but with our health at 100 percent.

It was 30 this morning, crept up to 50 and most probably will stop at 60.
Kept myself busy.. paying bills.. do the dishes...
Yep, have been doing the dishes, quit using the dishwasher for this month. When trying to save Goldie's life, I had been using the steam setting of my dishwasher to steam out the gunk from her lungs.
My ec bill shot up to 350!! Perhaps I can bring 50 down next month. That's extra money for April!

Hope all my sistahs have a great and safe weekend.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

We have rain!! Rained pretty good, but has stopped now. Flash floods in some areas that were burned out last summer. I do hope the rain continues as it is so welcomed, especially for farmers, etc. Did I mention my sweet peas are blooming? They look so nice after the rain. Have to play inside the house now, but don't know where I'm going to start. Computer is so darn stubborn, won't co-operate with me most of the time.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Pegi I seen on the news about the rain. You all must be so excited. I know it will not curtail the drought all in one day but it certainly will help as long as it will continue. Jaye believe me our gas and electric have been so high this winter. Over two hundred for the month of january. We will get thru this.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Our utilities were $350 for December and January. This months bill just came in and it is $250. And we have a small house.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I'm so glad I don't have to put up with such high bills. Electric bills here are high but we are fortunate enough to get a discount because of low income. Just hope this rain helps enough so the water companies don't raise their rates. There are some who are having flash floods and mud from the burn areas of last summer. I feel sorry for those people. Another storm is coming in so may have rain for a few more days.

I'm finally getting tired so I'm off to bed. Going on 1:30 AM, but I get a lot of reading done during those hours I can't sleep.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Congratulations on your sweet peas, Pegi! Yay.. rains are there! My friend's yard was flooded though and killed her palm tree :( But she's fine with it, and planned to replace it with a fruit tree.
We have a well, so, no water bill. That's a boon for us during hot summers with my massive garden.

Yikes LK. It seems energy cost rises and consumers aren't aware. I need to check how much it cost per kilowatt, we get paperless billing.
Enjoy your day with cutie Dylan!

Ronna, at least our winter's short, compared to yours. I'd love to have a wood burning fireplace, but Kel's against it.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

March, yes. Just seen the weather and it is not improving any time soon. We havelost several inches of snow so that is great. Today snowy and cold.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

No snow, thank you Lord. Cold yes, and might rain today.
Ronna, I know you must be ready for lighter clothes!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Yesterday we hit 82 degrees. Supposed to be the same today.
