I beist here. where is everyone else?
sever weather tonite, so am picking my yard up, so things won't blow around. Michael will be home about 1 pm. to protect me. protect me from whaaat, I haven't figured out yet. mybe from a twister?
Thanks for the new room Synda.
Kathy take care in those winds.
I love a good breeze, but this is ridiculas. keeps shutting my doors
You need bricks for your doors.
more like boulders lol
Rain, snow, thunderstorms, and sleet so far today. Mixed ag of weather here in michigan. But it is 40 degrees. Very overcast yesterday I got to take the dog for a really long walk and she loved it. So did I. But different today. Next two days off. Looking forward to it.
Up here we were sunny and mild yesterday. a bit cooler and wintery mix today.
Thanks for the help Synda!
Think we might need to find an anchor for sis Kathy so she won't fly away!
Ronna, enjoy your days off. Even though you might have to spend them all indoors.
Sue, I hope it's not too much of a mess with the creek overflowing. So sorry sistah. Can you call Rick to help you?
Barb, may Norm's scan reads clean.
Onion bagels.. hmm.. love mine with cream cheese, and if I happened to have some smoked salmon, a slice of that. Had fresh tomatoes with fresh mozarella, but never cream cheese. Think I'll try that.
Sorry about your fridge, Marion. Hope you didn't lose too much. The prices of new appliances are ridiculous, especially when they're made with cheaper materials.
Katie, I got your warm Mexican sun. Thanks muchly, it is unbelievable 80 now.
You read that right LK. I'm getting Texas heat!!
But, we are supposed to be returning to low 60s soon.
Took advantage of the sun, cleared up some area in the garden. The cats accompanied me, and it feels so good to hold a rake!
I appreciate all the love shown to me. I've never mourned my mother's death, but Vergie's death hit me hard.
All but one memories I have of her, will elicit chuckles from you but I think admin will frown if I share them here. As I said, she was my first American girlfriend, and before my ex'overseas job approved family status for him, she's the one that made sure I was safe and acted as my chauffer. No cabs, living in the country as you know.
She also taught me to drive and from her I learnt the peculiarities of American speech.. hood not bonnet.... food.. crackers not biscuits.. and so on..
Her 3 kids, being too small for school, would tag along wherever we go. In return for her help, sometimes I babysat her kids, so she and hubby can have a night out.
Sometimes, her hubby would babysit the kids and let us have girls' nights. We always order the same thing.. white wine for her and red for me.
One bartender, when he saw us, would greet us saying "Here's the red and white but I'm the blue!" Before Karaoke, Vergie's one that's not shy to get on stage when it's open mic. She had a good voice too.
I know our Lord welcomed her home with arms wide open. Since she's saved, I'm sure she won't be belting out a Stevie Nicks number, but her favorite hyms up there!! But then, I won't be surprised if she made Him laugh with Spinning Wheel, by Blood, Sweat and Tears.
Hello Karen.. Cookie.. Pegi.. Betty
Got home a while ago, had a bite to eat after fasting all day and now here I am.
As far as the oncologist can see from the scan, it is CLEAN. Of course we still need to wait for the radiology report but we are feeling pretty good about it. Now to just relax....Storm coming in about two hours...
Amen!!
Batten down the hatches, Barb.
Glad your back with us Jaye. Sending big (((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) for you.
Barb. So glad to hear the good report.
Oh Barb so happy to hear good news.
Good news Barb on the scan. I laughed at Austin's remark on the mermaid, maybe you could paint a bra on her and make both kids happy.
Now that I have hollyhock seeds I also need to know if the seeds that haven't turned brown yet can be put aside until they are ready or just get rid of them? Neighbor gave me a large stalk and the ones on top are still green. I've been looking up so many things that I can't remember half of what I read.
Because of the drought I read that milk will go up about 60 cents more a gallon next month. It is so high already. Glad I don't have little ones right now, but DH drinks a lot of milk. Well, they will blame the rising prices of everything on the drought.
Thanks ladies. We are thrilled once more but will still wait for the report. It happened once before that the oncologist didn't see anything and that's when the radiologist saw the spot on his lung. So we are cautious.
Looking forward to a day of just chilling. Nothing specific on tap to do so I'll just play at this and that. Hope the day is great for everyone....
Good morning sistahs.
Pegi, a gallon of milk here is $4. Higher than that, all parents and senior citizens should be given dairy vouchers. Thank God, once in a while Kel craves for milk, and yesterday he bought a gallon.
Barb, best thing for you to do after a day at a medical center. Relax and enjoy today!
A night of 2 good tvs last night followed by great reading.
Anyone follow "The Taste"? Sue? Sis Kathy? I was glad that Louise won as she's the most humble contestant and was open to suggestions from all the guest mentors. I'd love for that crazy Marina to win, but I'm glad that it's the taste of the food that wins and not drama.
Then I watched the prerecorded "Under the Gunn". Another great episode.
Tried to watch some "Fons and Porter" sewing vids but my mind insisted on finishing "The Orphan Master's Son". A great book that won the Pulitzer Prize. Think I'll finish that today.
Marion, I'm following Downton Abbey too. Love Maggie Smith!
..
It was 81 yesterday and today looks like another hot one. But we're expecting a thunderstorm this afternoon, and if I wanted to have some rays on my face, I better get to the garden asap!! But.. I'm lazy today... brought by headaches... so today, it's just the book and I. I may have to allot 1 hour to cooking some Ristotto :D
Have a wonderful day sistahs.
Jaye, so happy to see you posting again. I wish I could make everything much better but alas all I can do is share your pain. Friends like that only come once in a lifetime!! The really cease to be friends but become family....much like many here.
Love, love, love Maggie Smith. Oh if I could just remember some of her one liners!!!! We chilled out last night and watched..........oh my, don't remember.
Kim and I were both exhausted from having to empty (what I hadn't already done) the fridge/deep freeze; washing and a through cleaning and putting back together of the mess. Fortunately we only lost 2 packages of meat...both 1 chicken breast each, the rest were packs of cornbread we had backed for future use, biscuits and some odd veggies. Once again we are victims of the previous owner thinking he was a great DIY....not! The electrician said we were extremely lucky we hadn't had more problems. Oh well, that is behind us, all is well and we are getting rain...big time.
Charles is on his way over to work in the dungeon today....afraid to say to much but quietly I will whisper....it is closing in on being done!!
You were able to get the fridge repaired? That's great they are sooo expensive to replace. I worry daily here. Most of the appliances are 20 years old. Still look good because they didn't have daily use but still.....
hevy rain, strong winds last nite. thunder shook the house. thankfully, no damage. prayers going to the ones in the storms path today
Just heard on the news there is a funnel cloud in Georgia, and warning out in N.C. for tornados.
Please be careful.
Kathy, glad to her all is well!
Yes, Karen we were very lucky, new plugs of the correct size and properly installed did the trick.
Rains have stopped for the moment but more is forecast....severe thunderstorm watch until 2 pm EST.
Charles is assembling the cabinets and shelving as I type for my "dungeon" crafting room. Oh tell me the end is almost here and I can officially move everything out of the living room.
Your dungeon has been a long time coming Marion. I know you will e glad when it is done!
The end is almost here, Marion!. Soon you will be arranging all your things in your "dungeon".
That tote is beautiful LK. You do such good work. Work to be done inside, but it is too nice out and I do enjoy it outside rather than inside on nice sunny days.
Sending (((((Hugs))))) to all.
LK love the tote bag! very nice. I am not a craft person have nade a few fairy houses this winter but.... I need an adorable art project i can do for the new grandbaby. What could I do??? The mother in law makes quilts and sews so I need something. Maybe a college or something? I will have to look on pinterest I guess. I always forget about that site. I like all the positives on the thread thanks everyone. Sounds like things are moving in the right position for all. A dungeon is a great thing a place all of your own.
So wish you could take pictures Marion. We have heard so much about your dungeon that I want to see it!!! Maybe?????
How about putting together a family history? It doesn't have to be elaborate, a small photo album for as far back as you can. If you don't have many photos, maybe borrow from other family, they can be scanned at no harm to them and returned. Write a couple sentences about each photo. It's not something the baby will enjoy until much older but trust me it will then be a treasure. I do our family genealogy, as each baby is born I print out a copy and send to the new parents. So far the grands who are now grown, enjoy knowing their history and ask me more questions.
How about a diaper cake? Do a Google image search for diaper cakes. They are easy to do.
maybe get one of the plaster kits to make impressions of the babies feet or hands?
LOL, Barb Kim made a picture this morning so I will have her send it to me so I can post. It seems like it has been an eternity since we started this project but I so see the light!!!!
Yay, Marion! Keeping my fingers crossed that it will (shhhhh) soon be finished! Congrats as well on the "fixable" fridge.
Wanted to say, Asiago cheese is my favorite bagel. Give me a couple pieces of ham and a schmear of cream cheese and I'm in heaven!
Glad to hear about Norm, prayers continue.
Think I'm getting a little cold. Not planning on much today. Having a cuppa tea right now, and then a book will be in my future.
Always love being here with you sistahs!
sissy, a cuppa baileys is in order. ask jax, it will cure whats wrong with you
Could I have a cuppa Kahlua or Ameretto instead?
I'm with you Joyce! Although I do enjoy Baileys also!!!!
of coarse sissy or a coors light
Morning everyone. Fresh waffles with bacon is ready. Come and get it. Hot coffee too.
windchime swap is now open

Good morning LK! I'm ready to refuel!
Was out of state for a whole day yesterday. Last time I had some Popeye's Fried chicken was in 2005!!! No such great fast food chicken around here. So, when we found out that there's a new one in Florence, where my heart surgery was done, we decided to make a day there! 2 hours drive one way.
You can say it's heaven to savor their red beans and rice, rice dressing and the only complain I have, I asked for spicy, and it's like spiced for 'northern' people!! I had to use packs of that Louisiana hot sauce on one chicken!! Kel was happy with his regular.
Went to a used book store after that. That little shop is laid out like a garden maze!! Labyrinths of book shelves and 3/4s are stacked with romance novels! I found a couple for myself, a John Grisham and a biblical commentary.
Kel sat on the floor to rife through self help books on writing, which was placed at the bottom of a shelf marked "Mystery"!
Then he surprised me (apparently he'd googled for it's direction earlier that morning) to a trip to the new Hancock's! I wasn't happy as everything was forty percent off and I don't have the money to spend!! Got a stencil for under a dollar and a dual handle ruler 'gripper' for under 15.
When he had to gas up, it was next to a liquor store. I'm out of my medicinal JD, (great for colds you know) and Kel told me to treat myself to something else. So, I heeded his advice and you can see from the picture ;)
I know my sistahs will approve!! See, even though I wasn't here yesterday, you all managed to send me the message!!

Now that is what I call a score Jaye!!!! Good job.....
