Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends new/old

Victoria Harbour, ON

Goodness Judy, tell him to come visit, looks like he's ready for the Georgian Bay Winterama swim today..yikes, he must be hot blooded.

Sorry you aren't feeling the best, sure is a lot of germs floating around out there.

Glad the Bahamama was fun even thought a smaller crowd. Second what barb said, smaller crowds most times can make the party more personal.

They sell cranberry juice, undiluted up in Bala at the cranberry marsh..will have to ask Aline when she is up at the reserve for cigarettes if she can pick me some up

-16 outside but it's nice and bright..Rita emailed early this a.m., said likely she would be here by late afternoon..seems strange nobody but me in the house..

Mixture for stuffed peppers ready, guess its time to stuff. Lol

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Steve looks like he didn't care how cold it was!!!! Great party Judy.
Yes, Betty, Cranberry works miracles for cleansing the kidneys and the whole urinary tract. I was foolish to wait so long before starting it. Within a day I'm fine again and no drugs needed. To me, that is the best part.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hard to believe Barb it works so quickly..know Darlene freezes the juice in smaller containers and adds water to dilute when needed.

Got lazy this afternoon, thinking of taking hot bath, might help..of course I wouldn't be hurting as much had I not thought I was superwoman and brought that cabinet box on..one would think one would learn right.

Went next door, needed tomato soup to cover stuffed peppers so I can bake them, spoke to Clara's SIL..said she will be on Toronto hospital for at least 2 -3 months and that she is in good spirit..poor thing!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

What's wrong with her? Any updates on the twins?

Victoria Harbour, ON

She is the lady at the variety store next door..when it was storming during Christmas holidays she drove up my street, got stuck, was behind her car assessing situation, couldn't see for blizzard, got rammed into by vehicle..lost a leg and was fighting for her life.

Ann said that Addy has been been home a month and hasn't gained a pound. Alex is do g better, but a few concerns

Had assessments done re the degree of handicap and haven't the results yet.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Please let them know we are praying for her, as well as the twins.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

That we are Betty. And our prayers continue. I don't remember reading about the lady from the store. That is such a shame.... Hope Ann is getting some rest now that both babies are home...

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Praying for the twins...... definitely will be at least somewhat handicapped?
Betty - put ur feet up!
Yaaaaay that Jake has a job!! I know the feeling about not having work. Except for that one stint in Sept, I've been 1 year without work....... getting me really "down".....
Barb - pls take care..... UTIs aren't funny......
Oh, that poor lady, Betty...... she's better now?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Barb did mention it during holidays, her son, think he was 43 or 47 had died of heart attack week before Christmas..Clara's husband would open store at 8am, Clara would come around 10am and stay till 6 then hubby would return and work till closing at 10..24/7

I'm all caught up reading, and thought of so many things I wanted to say. Now can't remember! Geesh!

Do remember 3 things. Herman is adorable. Look how big that hand is! Wow, what a cutie.

Susan, so happy for Bob, and have my fingers crossed for you, too. Glad you were able to sell the car.

Judy, yay for Jake! Is he cooking at his new job?

Prayers continuing for the twins and family.

Getting more snow right now, but don't think we're supposed to get much accumulation.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning , so nice to see its not snowing, grey and heavy but that's ok because the sun tries to come out from time to tme.

Hope there is not shovelling involved Joyce..you are always doing smelting exciting so what are you doing today?
Rita is about to make brunch, now if Jake was here he could do the cooking and Rita and I could get out of the mess we are in lol

Too funny, we bot bet who could stay in bed the latest, we're trying for 7:30 a.m.

Would you believe I lost, bet you are not surprised..I was quiet as a muse, was going to work in the basement when I got up at 5:30 then sneak back into bed around 7am (grinning) but at 6am
Rita was up..

Didn't take us long we were downstairs, mount the cupboard together, took everything out of the totes and drawers and am organizing..hate to throw away even the smallest of piece but enough is enough, it will never end..few bags of 'to do' projects to work on..figure by noon I should be able to sit and sew.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

It's Christmas!!!! Yes, it surely is Christmas!!!

I received a stuffed full package from Marion yesterday and you won't believe all the goodies that she managed to get in it. Marion, you surely did outdo yourself!!! And I am one very happy recipient. Here's a rundown and then some pictures!!!

There is a lovely quilting print all ready to frame for my room. There is a notepad, some Thank You notes, some very pretty napkins, a 2014 notebook calendar, a hangar telling me to Stitch. There is a heart shaped hangar and a J shaped recipe holder and two pretty tan/blue kitchen towels. There is a can of Candy Cane Crunch cocoa and 3 different kinds of coffee!!! There are Frixion marking pens and liquid adhesive for my quilting and last but not least, there is a kit and materials to make some Open-
Weave placemats.

I am completely overwhelmed with so much. You went way overboard Marion and I am one very lucky lady. Thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart!!!!

(I forgot to download the pictures first so I'll send this and then send the pictures!!! I'm just a bit excited right now!)

Boy! Spoilt is right, what a wonderful gift for a winter's day.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Marion was my Santa Warren swap buddy. Life caught her up for a while but she sure came through for me big time. I'm so grateful...Not being able to get out very often with all this cold, I really appreciate her thoughtfulness. I read through the directions for the placemats/table runner and I think it will be a Spring project. I'm really looking forward to the challenge.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Barb those are wonderful pressies. Looks like you will be busy making all those things. Love those kitchen towels.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I do too LK. I'm thinking I just need to go with some blues in the kitchen now. Every wall here is stark white and my floors are beige so they fit right in!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

just went back and looked at your goodies..she sure knows what makes you happy lol

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

As a rule, I'm very easy to please but she sure went overboard!! I'm thrilled.

Finally calling it a night..series Resurrection I thought started tonight doesn't start until Mar. 9th..decided to get to bed and Greg dropped in to put up the new light fixture in the kitchen then we sat and looked at photo's of the ice caves on Georgian Bay found near Giant's Tomb, beautiful sight!!.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

No, I didn't go overboard.....just saw many things that reminded me of you. Don't know why but it was fun doing this box.......just so, so sorry it was so late but life interferred.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

So very very cold this morning, was wondering how the Eskimo do it but I believe it may be colder here than there this winter!

Marion, sorry you've had a hard go of it these past few months, weather didn't help either ..
When is your appt re your hands?

Susan, looked at the clock and thought 'Bob will soon be up and ready to take on his new job..let's hope it's long running.

Bless you Rita!!! It is really rewarding to all of us to see someone take to our craft as you have done. Kudos to you!!!!
Stayed up last night to watch the Olympics and will probably pay for it today. I love the winter games...

Victoria Harbour, ON

and we (Canadians) won a gold this morning..hurrah

Barb, soon I'll need to get up at 4 to be able to keep up with her

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Did you see the skating Barb? wasn't it wonderful !! amazes me, all those twists and turns and jumps !! they make it look so easy. always have loved the figure skating, and skate dancing. never liked to skate though, always too cold for me. I preferred to be inside curled up with a book.
when I was little, one of our neighbors always flooded a field, and made a rink. I spent a little time there, on and off. it was very close to home, so I could get back in quickly when I got cold. seems I could never get dressed warm enough. the whole neighborhood spent hours and hours out there on the ice.

Herman looks wonderful, Is he a great nephew? LK. I think I remember you saying niece was having baby?!! are they close by? so you can see the little bugger from time to time? guess I am full of questions today.

well I best get myself together, hubs wants to go to home depot. we need to get one of the bathrooms fixed up. previous owner did not use correct materials when doing the bathroom, and tiles are falling off of wet walls. ohhh joy we get to take down tile and sheet rock, put up blue board, and decide to go back to tile?? or paint?? My vote so far is paint. tile is too much work, and hubs will be obsessive over them being perfect !!! I don't think there is a single "squared" wall or floor in this house.... I love the look of tile in a bathroom, but as we are planning on selling, and I am sure it will just be torn down, there is no sense in doing something fancy. hubs says "we got to live with it until it sells, and who knows how long that will take?!! " well I can live with paint!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh goodness Thunder, didn't know you were interested in selling?? Where will you move, closer to the kids or more south.

Hubby is right though, likely when they move on they will redo to their liking.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

we are torn between further south, and North closer to grands.
we can go north if we get enough on this sale that I don't have to work full time. If we move to a cold winter area, I will have trouble getting out in the cold air. I want to move closer to grands. Levi has 6 more years, and they want to stay in that area when he is done. pending of course employment. he will complete his service of 20 years, at only 38 yrs old. he has a full education package waiting for him. can start a whole new Life/career. he has a few ideas. they want to be in northern north carolina . I want to be within an hour or so of them.

our house is just outside of the villages, the property is zoned commercial. we are hoping to sell for value of commercial land.

when we moved here we were in the country. now we are almost in the city. I can now see a Walgreen store out my window. and the property across the street, now a cow field is slated to become 260 residences, and 12 businesses !!! don't want to look out my front window at THAT !!
hubs would love to be in the mountains, and live where seasons change. he is saying lets look south also, thinking of me, as I love the hot weather. and he is worried about me being in the cold air. If we can buy outright and not have a mortgage, I could work only part time, and not work in the coldest time of year....I could hibernate !!
Kyle will most likely end up on east coast, possibly Virginia, maybe Connecticut/RI. so if we are in NC, we would also be closer to him....
Waylon could do his thing anywhere. He wants to work in the computer gaming field. trying to find a job, so he can go to school. if he does not have a job by the end of the month, he is going to go to Kansas, and stay with Kyle for a bit, see if he can get a job there. if that does not work he will come back home. his previous employer has already told him they will take him back ?? so his life is also up in the air?!!

our house is very old, and because of location, it will most likely be torn down and turned into a business. possibly left standing and renovated into doctor or dentist office... any way commercial sale would be more money than sale for residence.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.

Congrats on the gold Medal Canada!

Thunder, yes Herman is a great nephew. They are in Michigan close to my Sister. About an hour away from her.

Re-doing a bathroom can be a pain, especially when you have to do it because of someone else's goof up! But I now you guys will do it properly.

Boy am I sore today. Saturday night I was in the front yard trying to figure out where all the smoke was coming from, so I walked around the house to find out it was the new neighbors having a BBQ. So I was headed to the back door instead of walking back to the front. As I was headed to the back door, Blackie had dug a hole and I did not see it. I tripped and fell on my knees and hands on the concrete steps. I have been icing it, but I think I will call my Chiropractor and try to get things re-aligned.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thunder, I seem to remember you being in middle of nowhere when I dropped in. Lots and land and fruit trees. Neighbors around not that close by..hmmm for the life of me can't remember city type atmosphere.

Here we in the north are dreaming of the south, can't even imagine you moving north, brrrr.
Not so sure I'd be moving to be closer to kids as they can decide to move elsewhere and there you would be all on your lonesome.

Omg LindaKay, you could have broken something.sometimes bruising hurts far more.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Betty I go to the Neurologist the 18th of this month for an evaluation. Things are getting some better with the situation with my sister. She is in counciling and learning to deal with the pinched nerves.....that is also improving doing the exercises she has been given. All I can do is be supportive and keep saying prayers. I knew her crash would come but not to the extent it did.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sometimes it takes years to hit home Marion..remember keeping it together for the boys, did a good job of it..was years later when I went to a friends Father's funeral that it hit me hard, was as though I had lost my entire family.

Then as more passed on it seemed to have turned my heart cold, I just get through things and they don't make an impact..think it's my heart protecting me.

Glad you have an appointment this month and get to the bottom of it..

Will include your sister n my prayers!

Victoria Harbour, ON

When Greg came to put up my light fixture last night he was wind burned and tired..had been on a snowmobile ride with Melanie and the boys and their girlfriends..fun had by all

Been a few years since we had the ice caves on Georgian Bay near Giant's Tomb

Said they were awesome..who knows maybe this weekend I can talk them into taking me.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Betty, when you were here it was country !! now many more buildings. big town offices complex. new villages town center just down the road. can hear their music if out in the yard when they have a band outside. walgreen store, that I can see from my front window.I can see the big red letters of their sign glowing through my yard at night., and much more to come!! that is why we want to move.

Kids plan on staying in that area. Kyle could end up anywhere, but most likely east coast. NC also closer to my Momma.

all just thoughts for now. we are looking at many different places. south Florida. north Florida. north Georgia. mid to north NC. not sure where we will go, but don't want to stay here.
it seems like a good time to try to get land value price, as area is building up. our property is already zoned commercial. someone buying it would not have to go through the legalities to try to change it. some properties nearby are still zoned only for residence.

owie on the knees LK !! hope it feels better fast. knee pain sucks

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sounds like a plan Thunder..

Paul was here today, in a fantastic mood, buying a place in Aruba so was good time to hit him up for an extra week end of March so I can spend a good part of a week in Florida then drive her back north..

Told him I'd take it without pay so I could have the extra holidays, he said he didn't think it was a problem that he would have to check things out as he was thinking of going south..we got talking, before you know it he was looking at flights on WestJet, started to tell me about the add one fee of nearly $100 which gave you eats, changes to flight, cancellation without additional fees, sitting in priority seating etc etc.

I said I couldn't leave on Friday because all the flights were early morning and I couldn't get to the city until late afternoon, before you know it he booked a 9:30 flight on Friday, got to love it when he's in a good mood...lol
