Sweet Interruptions # 277

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

jaye, get some rest

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh I wish you were here Jaye. I have cinnamon candies slowly melting and the aroma will certainly clear your head. I use them to make my own version of fried apples.....we like them on toast and Kim eats it on her oatmeal.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

yummy, sounds so good! i'm on my way

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh Barb!! THANK YOU!!! I really need to look at those pictures today for a great uplifting of my spirits!! Thank you. Precious pictures they are. Made me thank God for the beauty of His innocence, in children, animals and nature.

I've never fried apples before Marion. Though I've microwaved them and add butter and honey, as I do the same too over riped bananas too. Lucky Kim!
Wish I could snap these fingers and transport myself to Havana!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

They aren't actually fired but we refer to them as that. I usually use Galas (when on sale) and just simmer in as little water as possible to keep from sticking. Then add the melted cinnamon candies....pink stewed apples to go.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, when you figure out how to transport yourself at the snap of a finger, let me know. Those apples sound good!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

LOLThey are good. This way I can control the sweetness and it is good for Kim. Besides her Grandmother Sproul always made applesauce for all of the grandchildren but only colored Kim's pink. I think it reminds her of her grandma.

Sorry to bring news for you Marion, but your "hunk" is not available anymore.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

He is always available for eye candy......got that midlife crisis..getting engaged to a younger woman. Men!!!

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Can I ask... does anyone on here have restless leg syndrome? I have had it for years. Am finding out many tricks to help with the discomfort. What do you do for it? I am already taking requip to ease it but I am so sick of this can not even sit and relax. Very irratating for sure.

hey ladies
busy next few days
baseketball sat 930
yoga at 130
wine with friends 430 hopefully if tim comes home i can get out with the girls.
sunday baseball
then more yoga only if tim is home to watch kids
lots of snow today and more cold temps brrrrrrr.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wish I could help with the restless leg syndrome. It may be time for another visit with your doctor.

Sue sure hope you get your dayb out with the girl's.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LK, when I found that secret, I'm sure the airlines pf the world, will try to get rid of me by any means!!

Lolol Marion!! I'm willing to share Tom Selleck with you!!
Midlife crisis? JD isn't actually a confident hunk if he want a new woman!
Talking of apples.. Kel never did care for any apples until I bought some "Ambrosia". He'd snack on at least one a day now. Fortunately, the ones that are pre packaged, are quite small. So no fear of sugar overload there.

Sue, that's good that you can escape for some yoga. Basketball? Austin has that too besides baseball? He's gonna be quite an athlete.

I don't have that Ronna, but I get cramps in my legs when sleeping. For that, I'd turn to tonic that has quinine. But lately, I've beed drinking Zero, a Powerade drink that's sugarfree.
Maybe this can help you. By the way, I do wear socks to bed, as I have very cold feet. Maybe I do have RLS?
http://health.howstuffworks.com/wellness/natural-medicine/home-remedies/home-remedies-for-restless-legs-syndrome.htm

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I used to have RLS quite bad but for some reason it seems to have gone away. I do have a lot of cramping and spasms. I'm taking magnesium and it seems to be helping. They haven't gone away completely but are much less frequent.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Yes I take magnesium also. Kinda helps but right around my ankles it feels like electric some nights. So irratating. I just wish I could sit and relax after a busy day. I just have to get up. I also do a rolling pin up and down my legs it does help for awhile. Massaging helps some. A hot bath can help some. I have been back to the doc she has increased my dose of medication. I have even tried the ole granny support hose. Lol. They do feel really good on your legs they kinda massage them when you walk. But kinda hard to put on.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I have a Homedic feet massager that helps me greatly too Ronna.
At least you're open to trying anything that might help you including a kind DH that won't mind massaging your feet.

I'm taking magnesium supplements too Karen, but it's for my heart.

Carole, just as I thought. Vandy has robbed Stanford's Derek Mason to be its new head coach! Woohooo... he's gonna bring Vandy to gloryland of college football.

Nothing much going on here. I think my hot flashes has returned. I had them in my late 40s and I thought I was over that!!

Have a fine weekend my sistahs.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Yes another very cold day here. But we still went out and about. Fun day, we went to a little flea market, to the re store a used and donated house stuff store, went to hobby lobby, they have really cute stuff for fairy gardens and they were 30 percent off. Got a few cute things. Went to eat with my parents at Texas corral had some really good fajitas. Fun day all in all. Soon as I get home I put on my pj's. Especially this time of year...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Awesome that you spent some time with your parents.
It's heading towards the 30s here Ronna. I know whent the temps are getting colder, for the cats outside will empty the food pans pretty fast!
Can't wait for Joann's and Hobby Lobby to open at the beach.

good morning. I drank to much wine last night LOL with my friend Jill. We went to a wine tasting . snowing and bitter cold for the next week brrrrr single digits and some -3
Austin has baseball today. no yoga for me today.
have a new book i m reading John Grisham Racketeer. Pretty good so far.
Tim is sick with a bad cold . thought it may be the flu but of course he won't tell me . so he comes home this weekend sick !!! thank you Tim !!!
Time for more coffee
have a good day everyone

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Does Austin have baseball or basketball? I feel for him if he has to be outside doing sports!

Sorry Tim brought the gunk home to you guys. Keep your distance, LOL, like I had to tell you that!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!

Sounds like a wonderful day Ronna!

Sorry to hear Tim is not feeling well. Sure hope it does not spread through the family.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Sue....please stay your distance. We have been lucky so far this year. Kim hasn't had many sick students so she hasn't had the grud....knocking on wood!

It was 38 here at 9 last night so not sure what it finally dropped to, just know it was cold.

Met up with the Junior Sprouls for a trip to Costco late yesterday. What an adventure and no, it was the girls who were trouble but their dad!!! Sometimes I think he hasn't grown up at all. It was fun though. Poor guy with 5 women!!! Finished off the evening with dinner at Sonnys. Really good last night.

Sending warm thoughts to everyone today.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Marion, sounds like a good evening. We are getting our first costco here. Not real close to us about 15 miles. But I may look into it. We used to go to Sams but not for a long time. Kinda looking forward to going. Taynors wine tasting huh? Sounds fun. I havenever been to one of those. Will have to try one out. We have several winerys here kinda by us. 40 mins away. The have a huge wine fest in the autumn in Paw Paw mi. Today its pretty sunny. Tok the dog for a nice walk collected some natural item s for my fairy houses. They are turning out so cute.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Costco is a bit upscale from Sam's. My take on it is Sam's is beer, Costco is wine. I'm in the Grand Traverse area, we have many wineries here. The climate is said to be like the wine regions of France.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hi everyone. Yes, taking a break here from football!!

Sorry that Tim brought the cruds to the house, Sue. Send him to the chicken house! Lol!!!

Oh Marion, I can imagine the girls begging their dad or you on getting them this.. that.. and more of that..
Our Costco is just too far. No point being a member either as everything's sold in bulk, and it's just Kel and I.

No more winery tours for Karen. Last one cost me a fortune, though it's cheaper to buy by the case. Ehem.

LK, I'm applying Vicks on my feet. Hoping it might warm them up. Of course, I have socks on too.

Think I'll record the rest of this game and head for bed.
Sue, I hope 49ers will meet Broncos.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

hi everyone!
well, never know what news is going to come out of Winnipeg, re: my mom...... haven't heard anything since I told them that if my Mom slips out of bed again, that they'd be glad of her having a roommate. They've been saying they want her to have a private room! I don't want Mom left alone, with her hallucinations, and possibly getting out of bed and hurting herself.....
Sometimes they say "it will be weeks, rather than months........" and other times the hospital says "who knows, she may be able to move back to the semi-care home she was living in" (NOT! I don't know what my sisters are "on", but over-confidence in mom's ability to recover is not healthy for them.......

Anyway, had some nice "findings" on Friday night! We had another plaque go missing at the church (with small brass plaques "in living/loving memory". People were apparently looking everywhere throughout the church. Bob & I went there Friday night, and I found it, jammed in between a file cabinet and the wall..... supposedly out of sight. There was 2" showing however, and I was lucky enough to look at the right place at the right time. It's now safe & secure on the Church wall.

btw - this is going to be the Chinese Year Of The Horse...... and I'm a Horse, so it's supposed to be a very lucky year for me.....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!

Sad to say the 49er's lost last night.

Susan, I pray your family come around and make the right decision for your Mom. In the condition she is in, it would not be wise to move her back to where she was.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

sad to hear new England lost. now I will pout for at least a week. cold here, but gonna get colder. I think I should move souther

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

for all my sistah's

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Susan, not again!!! I know you don't have much youth in your church, but it seems like the works of mindless pranksters.
Your mum will be in our prayers right to the very end. She's very lucky to be in a facility with very responsible support staff.

I was hoping the 49ers make it too, Sue.
But that last interception nailed their coffin. Another meeting between Russel Wilson and Manning.. that would be a game. Wilson idolized Manning.

Aww sis, Manning has silenced his critics. He did his darndest in that game. No sacks!! Sorry you're a Patriots fan.

Thank you for that hugs sis. We all can use them.

For a few days I'm fighting depression. Tried to keep my mind occupied with positive thoughts and prayers. Must be the weather too. Nope, not taking Xanax until I run out of ways to distract my mind.

Sistahs I hope you all have a fantastic work.

For those that tried to call me, my phone isn't working.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Right now, my symptom is wanting to cry all day. It will get worse as there's only one more football game :D

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sew something!!!! Even make just one block - it will set you free......

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I bought tons of yarn to keep my mind occupied Barb. It's easy with crocheting, you make a mistake, you can unravel it.
But with sewing, rarely any forgiveness with cutting or sewing. Strict concentration's required, and at this time, my mind won't co operate.
Thanks Barb.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Don't try too hard to go without your meds. You have them for a reason, when it gets too much to bear, do good for your self and take your meds. Hugs.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Aw Jaye sorry for how you are feeling. With things the way they are they are at work. Kinda hard to find a sunny spot in the day. But I am not going to get depressed over it. Yes I agree with Karen. You should take your meds for sure. Feel better. Mu poor daughter that is pregnant is so sick with the crud going around. Poor girl tried to call her but she must be sleeping. Now I am worried about her. I do not like to find stuff out on facebook. Gggrrr.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry Jaye, but you know you have all of us here to keep you company and cheer you up!

Love the HUGS Kathy! Thanks!

Kathy - hugs right back atcha!! Thank you :-)

excerpt from an email, from my sister Alice re: mom
"Mom was very agitated yesterday evening sometime after 5 and had to be given a sedative. It is methotrineprazine. It is a strong psychotic sedative. You can look it up if you want, but that is what it is. She was trying to get out of bed and was just extremely agitated. They now have an alarm on her bed, so if she tries again the alarm goes off. She also had hydromorphone early in the a.m. for pain in her shoulders. I was up for a couple of hours and she would not wake up. Has been asleep all day. No breakfast or lunch. Nurse and I both tried to wake her but she was not receptive. Nurse read the chart to me and they are again going to assess her for palliative care. Joanne will be up sometime this week to do that. The chart also it says she will not be returning to the community. I asked if that that means T’s. and Renee said yes. I think we are crazy to keep T’s. Stan is in agreement. Also wants to be part of the move if we decide to do it. If we do move the furniture out I will appreciate if I can organize it. Way too confusing when too many of us are trying to do it. I asked if they were giving her drugs based on her size and Renee said they are for sure. She is not on oxygen and her breathing is deep and seems natural. Mouth open of course. I can’t think of anything else. Stan is going up today. I told him to maybe wait a couple of hours because she is in such a deep sleep. He is going to T’s first to pick up Boost."

I'm sure you know, but just in case...... Boost is a vitamin filled energy drink, and some versions will help you gain weight.

Susan sending you and your family love and hugs.

Sorry you got the can't help its, Jaye. :o(. That Xanax is some good stuff, take it girl!

Susan, I'm so feeling for you going through this with your Mom. Prayers continue for all of you.

Did I tell you all that Bertie has to have rotator cuff surgery tomorrow? Some of you know her. I understand that recovery from this particular surgery is really hard. I hate it that she has to go through this, but she's been in so much pain, she's looking forward to getting it over with! Please keep her in your prayers.
