Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends old&new

Heya ^_^

Gotta say Betty, that pattern gives me a headache just looking at it .. if you were to sit me in front of it and tell me to 'do something', I'd likely use the scisorrs to cut my hair off and enter a strict nunnery LoL
I commend everyone of you who do the sewing and handiwork, you are ALL totally blessed!

My oh my what a treat to be out and about today !! It's damp, but 30F is absolutely amazing to feel again ..
Course, there are some down sides .. the roads and sidewalks are slushy messes, and, you have to really watch your footing ..
One of my FBook friends got drenched by someone going through a puddle today, she was none too pleased as she was wearing a powder blue jacket, it'll have to be dry cleaned.

Susan .. your Mom sure does have good days and bad days, nice to see today is a very UP day for her.
Is she in the Mis or Health Sciences?
Found the care at Health Sciences to be A #1 when Lorna was there, St B also
Cherish your time with her ..

Barb, I sure do hope you catch abreak with the weather and are able to get outside this weekend.

Katie, YAY re your pain meds .. good plan ordering more now for future use.
Jenny, Scout, Twink and Max sound like a handful! Nice to have them about though ..
Will have to read up on Schizandra.
Thought of you today as a grocery store I was in had Dragon Fruit .. whoa, starnge looking things arent they?

Good to hear Crissy is castless ..

Best I go, have split my methotrexate tabs up today, took 4 at 2pm, and will take the other 4 at bedtime .. am hoping they don't make me feel as isshy ..

Beg to differ "M" am sure if you lived near any one of us who sew we'd have you turning out treasures in no time. Drats, people just don't think when they are driving where there are sidewalks, how maddening!

You've had great weather, nice to get out..was just thinking we are almost 1/2 way through, sure feel a lot better knowing we are on the downslide

Yuk turned oven on for bumble berry tarts, yuk, stinks like the dickens, best I wash it again, I must not have washed out the oven cleaner enough.

Debbie, went pricing one way flights to Florida, suppose to fly down 3rd week in March to drive Darllene back, sure hope nothing prevents me from doing so

Got this from Sharon...

I can’t do this anymore….. I text mike and kim to come and get her for a couple days.  I haven’t heard back yet…  I’m done…  I’m exhausted and ready for a breakdown… I can’t handle the guilt she’s putting on me …….   I’m done…  if mike doesn’t come I’m getting a room and leaving here!

II think why I've kept from going past few days is because I'm terrified I will break and she will come home with me

Greg reminded me she is hurting and frightened, he who barely has ever had a nive word for her, even told me to watch my tongue and swallow what she says that is hurtful..easy for him to say

I wish there were something I could do to ease this situation.....

What about Bernie?

From about 1,000 miles away and not being a part of this I offer the following comments/suggestions along with my most fervent prayers for all of you.

First, based on years of painful experiences of my own and other friends, the men will probably not be of much help, if any. Don't waste time and energy.

Second, stress to your mother that this is NOT the time for any of you to make any long-term decidions/arrangements. NONE. As gently as you can, remind your mother that this has been hard for ALL of you, especially Sharon and, though you know she is hurting and scared, she needs to give Sharon and you time and space to heal yourselves. Then get her someplace safe - perhaps a temporary visit at a residential place, if that is possible. Not with you or Sharon. She might need to be alone to do her own grieving, at least for the time being.

This has been such a hard time for all of you. Mom needs to understand that all of you need some recovery time. You may have to come on like a stron parent and that may be just what she needs. Mostly, you and Sharon have to have each other's backs.

Even having Mom in a motel, maybe one with a kitchenette, for a few days would give Sharon and you a breather. Do not let the situation drag on, hoping that someone else will come to the rescue.

Is there some kind of support group available for Mom that might help her. Seems she has been so dependent on Jim that this is going to be a hard recovery for her. For HER, Betty, you and Sharon have your own recovery to do. You and Sharon need to find other support/living options for Mom and extracate yourselves from her demands. She won't help and will do her best to manipulate you to her desires. You and Sharon may also need some kind of outside/additional support for yourselves.

Like other, I wish I could be ther for you. It's a time that will bring out both the best and the worst in people.

You and Sharon need to take care of yourselves to be of any long-term assistance to your mother. Mom won't understand this but you and Sharon can and must.

big hugs, katie

Well said Katie....

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

I agree with Katie ..
Is there not a CHARTWELL residence down your way Betty?
They have rooms for RESPITE care .. which is what is needed right now.
Your Mom would be in a home like setting, and, I think she might even get some emotional support from trained staff.
She could stay a week, or a couple of days, however long you decide .. I'd sure look into it, you and Sharon and Mike are spent !!!

Thank you for such understanding..

The avenues you offered Katie are awell thought out plan of action

Will copy and email to Sharon so she and I can talk when I get there

Exhausted myself today, easier than thinking I guess

Slept all evening, going to try this bed sleeping

Night night my friends

Betty - how very much you & Sharon are taking on........
Katie's suggestions are, as you say, well & wonderfully thought out..........
I hope you get some respite

Marilyn - my mom is at the St. B - and the staff is wonderful to her.
She ate 3 full meals today - really impressed. Had a good visit with her for 3 1/2 hours. It was really good. We also went to the senior's residence where she lived, and picked up some things that are personal to us.
Things are good with mom at present, so I'm content.

Morning all

Out the door I go

Prayers please to help get through the day!

Sharon has to be at vets at 8am, I will not get there likely till 9am..with rain and cold roads are very icy so will take my time..like a skating rink in my drive, can only hope main roads have been looked after

With Sharon gone I might be able to talk to her letting her know how fragile Sharon is and needs a break..Sharon has to leave for Virginia one day this week, of course mom wants to stay at Sharon's and look after the dogs while she is away, another reason to prolong not going home

Susan, glad mom is alert and you are enjoying each other's company.

Barn hooe you can get out today
LindaKay, you are one day closer to leaving for Michigan

Wavng to all I've missed

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!

Betty, please be careful on those roads!

Not for sure if I will be going to Michigan, I am feeling better but developed a fever last night, so I just need to get lots of rest and see what happens.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Best of luck and God speed with your trip Betty.
Tha salt/sand trucks have been out here for several hours, as we have icy conditions as well, nice to see the milder temps, but, the KABUNCHES of snow is now melting and making life a wee bit miserable mixed in with pleasurable.

DGS, Austin, is sick :-(
We start BBsitting hin and DGD Brooklyn at 4am Monday morning .. Murray and wife need to be dropped off at the airport by 5am, flight takes off @ 6:30am .. DH will ferry them to the airport and I will hang back and get the kids to school, they both are driven into the city to 2 different schools .. then we have them in our charge for a week ..

LindaK, I hope your fever will go down .. 'tis the season' it seems ...

I have the 'morning after chemo yukkies' .. taking it slow ..

Stay well everyone

~M~

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Hope Betty can post when she gets there. The roads are just miserable!!!! We are covered in ice too.
Hope you feel better "M" and that you are well to take care of the kids next week.
LK - rest and more rest....

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I guess we're pretty lucky. As of right now, we are having a 51* day and our snow and ice have all melted. I'm getting cabin fever though since I've only been out to clean houses!

Hope and pray all is going well with Betty's trip.

Waving Hi to all of you!~~~~~~~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hope your yukkies are gone soon "M".
My fever is gone, and we spent 3 hours in town looking for a new washing machine. Finally found one at home depot. Can't believe some of them are over $1000.00.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

YAY LindaK ^_^
Happy your temp calmed down, but, no so good re the washer!
Betty knows about my 'washer/dryer' saga from 2 years ago .. it t'weren't purdy .. but, as is always the case (most of the time) the situation worked itself out in the end.

Nice temps Joyce, were in the mid 30s .. DH just took the dogs for a walk, first time in 10 days !!!

I feel better .. went to DS home, was shown where everything is in cupboards etc .. kids were good with everything, poor Austin was in bed, but, feels better ..
The 3 dogs were going absolutely NUTSO .. Molly and Winston are Boston Terriers, and Mojo (a rescue) is a Bulldog who is SO affectionate .. of course I goofed and wore BLACK leggings and top to the house, both are now in the wash .. covered in Mojo hair LoL, note to self, JEANS only while I'm there ..
Their driveway is fairly long, an, on a grade .. so, I'm hoping my car will do it, otherwise we'll HAVE to use DHs 4x4, Murray is leaving their new 4x4 behind, but, it's a standard transmission .. I am NO good at driving one of them !!

Hope we hear from Betty .. I worry .. just because I care (as do we all)

Toodles

Sounds like your going to busy for the next week babysitting. Sure hope Austin is feeling better soon!

I've been keeping track of your weather, Marilyn. My new IPAD has a weather app and all I have to do is put the name in, so I have Thunder Bay and Toronto in there! :o)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Very quick post

Roads were terrible this morning

Hardest day I've had in forever..

Head was pounding , couldn't wait to get home, bath, meds and to bed

What a thaw

Now guess who when unplugging the freezer yesterday to defrost it unplugged the sump pumps..yep, me

3" of water in the basement, thank god I followed my instinct to come home and get a ay of rest n before regular routine starts Monday

Am thankful Greg was home, bet he wishes he wasn't..said he'd just finished 8 hrs of shovelled the pool deck off so it wouldn't cave in, some places he said had 5'

Got here he could hardly move..so glad I had the shop vac..he vacuumed and I swept what was in the laundry room and woodworking area towards the sump pump hole, got rid of a lot that way..Greg has all the rigs on the covered back deck..what a mess

Some of you who visited me know I painted the entire basement floor to look like rocks, lot of the rocks have lifted , not going to fret, painted them once, I'll paint them again

Shook my head, spend the other day purging of old towels and sheet, friend picked them up last night, what do I need to absorb some of the wetness, towels/sheets

Got the whatfor from Greg, hes saw I was upset about being so stupid that he didn't say a thing, just shook his head BUT had a couple of appliances plugged in, here I was standing in the water unplugging them..he wasn't happy. Lol

So,mill stay up and do a few loads of towels, dry them and sop whatever water remains

And how was your day?? Grinning, beyond being upset, life is a b@&$h!
