Sending lots of ((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))) to you Betty. Take a deep breath and count to 10...

Linda hoping meds will cure your crud in time to travel. If not feeling better in a week or so, ask for stronger meds. It should at least make you non-toxic by then.
How very disappointing that would be LndaKay to not make the trip to Michigan. Still another week or so before going to here's hoping meds start to work!
Betty, hang in there!! Yes, there are some really rough days ahead but you are smart enough to realize that and that is good. I agree (although none of my thought really count) a senior complex would be nice for your mom....the company of others her age should help.
LK, here is hoping the meds work really fast.
We are suppose to get into the upper 50s today but so far it is very bleak looking outside. Where has the sun gone?
betty what a cute top! what is the name in the label?
You can tell I'm not with it,nope
just emptied hallway and washroom closet, all on the floor
bought space air bags omg I'm hooked..what took 3 shelves now takes but a little corner
tell me who has 80+ t-towels and about the same for washcloths
everyone in the world must have given me a table cloth and 12 napkins, one extra large space bag just for them..
afghans galore, likely 2 space bag
have 2 large garbage bags going to the dump..wow can't believe what I've kept
embarrassing for sure
as far as sheets, are you like me, take them off and wash, put them right back on, if so why to heck do we need 10 sets when space is limited..
washroom closet, horribly made had about 4 ft on top shelf so out with my trusty saw, had a piece of while shelving, made another shelf unit on top and voila, more storage
keeps me busy and out of mischief
I will look Liz at the name on the label, not same make as all my outfits
Lots of places would appreciate the stuff could be donated.
I agree, nursing homes, churches...
Even vet's offices and humane society for towels and linens that aren't really good. They are always needing materials for their animals.
Betty, humane society has been asking for blankets and towels for the animals, much needed all over for them. A standard need on wish lists. Even old sheets make good bedding for ill or injured animals that come in.
Ohhh will take some out of the bag and drop in next time I pass by
They are just before the Shrine, not out of my way
I see Betty is back to being 'busy' LoL
I know it makes you feel better, and I know the Humane Society would love your give aways ..
Guess I'm odd as I have 5 sets of sheets and rotate them as they are washed ..
BIG decisions re the Mom Betty .. there are so many lovely retirement residences out there. I know Chartwell has just a gorgeous one here in TBay that filled up quite quickly !!
Have a cousin and her DH living there. They had to give up their Cottage (camp) living in the summers and Texas in the winters due to declining health, they LOVE it .. never thought my cousin would settle in (she's an AVID quilter) but, she did.
Course it was THEIR idea.
Maybe a vist to one of these facilities would change her mind?
I MAY have a new Hospice client .. will know tomorrow .. 68 yr old lady with lung cancer ..
Time will tell ..
All of you fish haters (LOL) we're having fish (cajun catfish) and chips (french fries) and veggies
SO, I best rattle some pots n pans !!
Toodles

Sharon just e mailed, she can't take much more, mom is trying to get a promise out of her to let her stay and when Sharon moves to build a granny flat
How do you tactfully tell your mother that it's too overwhelming for any of us to take her, her negativity and sword like tongue has made us all not wanting her to live in our homes
Good lord I'd have her here for a few days but I'm afraid she would not leave
Now many of you have known me for years, some have met me, most know I open my door to anyone, help anyone I can so you know it's hell NOT wanting to have her with me
Betty, I have met your mother....and you...and Sharon. I know what you are all up against.
Just tell her. I am finally able to have my "empty nest" and child free....and I need time for ME
right now. Maybe down the road....but not now. I love you...but this is the way it has to be for
all of us.
I have met both you and Sharon but not your mother. Point being you have NEVER steered me wrong so I have not reason not to believe what you tell us. I could not and would not live with her. I could not tolerate all her negativity. Tell her what Debbie said. She needs to face the truth - that this is all her own fault...
Thank you both
Jim did tell Sharon and I not to let her talk us into living with us
Am sure it will work itself out..only been days since his death
OMG, Betty. I agree that both you and Sharon should say "NO WAY" to your mom but I'm not sure that explaining why is a good idea. "Least said, soonest mended" especially with Jim just passing. I recommend remembering the saying that ""NO" is a complete sentence" and get busy looking for alternatives. If you can find a residential facility or two for her to visit you can maybe distract her (a little, anyway) from her demands on you and Sharon. Alternatively, you and Sharon could run away together for a month or two. Mexico is here and phones an computers can be turned off.
I've spent the day in bed due to arthritis pain all over. Cannot even hold a book to read.
taking the herbs and waiting for pain pills. If I don't mover much I'm OK, just get very tired from the pain and can't get any work done. Also doesn't help to fret over it so I pet the dogs and watch TV. Such an interesting life.
We had a watermelon from the garden the other day. Someone from the sale came by yesterday and bought a bunch more t-shirts which I had managed to get organized so I knew what I had and where it was - thank Gad. I also gave her lemons and mandarines and got to show off the gardens.
Cannot believe the stupidity of Christie's people in NJ, thinking to mess up traffic was in any way anything other than a moronic thing to do. No up side to it at all in any way.
I need to cook some chicken legs to mix with rice that's already cooked so the furbabies get their dinner. Chocolate, a cat that belongs to enighbors Dana and Tom but lives in one of my outcdoor garden rooms to avoid all the dogs wants chicken and rice, too. I gave him some fish and rice on Sunday when Tony was not here to feed him and he became instantly spoiled. What they call "one trial learning."
Betty and Sharon - come on down!!!
big hugs, katie
Sos' I don't get jumped on for talking about politics, my comment about Christie's pepople was meant to be about stupidity, not politics.

I'm with the girls, too, Betty. Nothing good could come of your Mom living with you. I know what a lucky, lucky girl I was to have such a sweet, easygoing, no complaining parent that lived with me.....I miss him so much.
LK, I hope you feel better soon. Coming North to this weather when you're used to Texas would be hard at this time of year even if you're healthy. Please, take care of yourself.
Katie, you are so right, no is no, best not we go into detail or it will set her off.
She mentioned the other day about Rita living here, how I've adjusted to having someone live here
Told her that Rita is using here as home base but revelry here..
You might have to order your meds long before you run out so they arrive before you do.
You will be known as the tshirt lady and will have people dropping in from time to time to purchase some..then for them to get fresh fruit and a tour, wow bonus for sure
You were indeed lucky Joyce, think of you out near the pond,he on the swing, both of you chatting but most of all I remember he and I smooching. Lol
Hi - saw my mom today.... her shoulder hurt, so they gave her morphine. When I arrived, she said her legs hurt, so they gave her morphine...... 1st dose didn't do anything, so they gave her more, and she slept through most of my visit, which was fine.
The nurses and aides all give the 3Ck's - Care, Comfort and Compassion....... they are so "dear" to her..... call her sweetie, etc......
They're talking about putting her in a Palliative Care room...... hope that means a private room, so she can have a window! There's always a curtain drawn between her bed and the next, and the next person has the window side.......
(((Susan))) I know this is so hard on you, seeing her like this, but it know you will forever be happy that you were able to be with her now. How is the rest of your visit going with your daughter, etc?
Betty, I'll never forget your smooch, and how much Dad liked your "flowers"! :o)
Susan, just having gone through it with Jim I know just how your heart must be breaking..what a gift you have been given, to be with and hold your mom..here is hoping she gets a window view..hugs coming opyiur way!
Joyce was the highlight of my trip, a memory I hold dear..
We had snow again last night but just a skim
Not sure what we will do if we get the rain they are calling for, flooding in the basement for sure. Don't want to think of that
Might drive down to the city later this evening so I can spend a few hours with Sharon then go with mom to her house in the morning, spend the day and head home late afternoon
Will see how my day progresses and what weather brings
In the meantime I shall pick 1 corner that needs cleaning and work a bit on one project
Ohh got my disc re hips, Rita and I pretended we were doctors, went online and looked what a hip should look like then looked at mine and pin pointed a few what we think are issues. Lol
Now to see how we did when I go to hospital on Monday
Got an e-mail from local quilt shop, several classes I'd love to attend but no evening or weekend classes, hmmm not good for those who see
Finished my coffee so best I make myself useful.

Susan, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family ...
Betty .. umm .. did you mean you finished your 'coffee' .. here's me looking for pictures LoL
A BALMY 20F here .. people will be out in shorts driving with their windows DOWN !! Seriously it's a Northern Ontario phenomenon, maybe a Canadian one .. mostly high school kids or College kids will dress down to a parka and longer shorts .. after all the cold, I can see why.
Snow MIGHT appear later on today or over the weekend .. no 'SNOW EVENT' though ..
When is Jim's funeral? Hopefully your weather will have calmed down a bit!
Going out with friends for coffee this morning, best get a cruise on ...
Stay well all
Toodles
~M~
Betty, when do you go back to work? Guess that all depends on the road conditions?
Be careful traveling please?
It is 51 here this morning, and supposed to reach 70 today!
"did mean coffee" lol was thinking how I could get out in 4' of snow to take photo's so I guess camera was on my mind when I meant coffee
Jim did not want a funeral home ceremony so he is now cremated, Sharon and mom will come up in the spring and pick a grave site..we will then have a celebration of life gathering here after burial..think of people trying to drive to a funeral fighting weather conditions we had, would have been impossible.
Cousin of mine passed morning after Jim's death, funeral this mornimg and I really should go, aunt told me not to..worried about me ..imagine, she's in her 90's and worried about me.
LindaKay are you finding the meds helping? You must be frustrated as heck..here is hoping there is an improvement this a.m. You are resting right..how's you furry doing?
Debbie, any news on Crissy and Dianne?
It's snowing here and the temps are supposed to go up and this change to rain. So far it is a slippery mess. I guess I should be glad that I can't go out yet. I was hoping to go Sat but now they are calling for heavy rain all day. Darn!!! I haven't been out since Christmas Eve and I'm really starting to get restless. Plus Joann's sale ends Sat and I wanted to check out some fabrics for the quilt along I'm in......Maybe I can go out on Sunday but I'll miss the sale..
Raining here and in the low 50s. Not a pleasant day to have to be outside so I am going to find a corner and work there.
Still coughing but getting better. Furries are doing good.
Barb, perhaps in the morning weather will have changed and you still can get out to Joann's and catch the sale..how far is the store from your home?
Marion, what will you be doing in your corner?
I said I had to clean 1 thing before I could play..cleaned a cupboard with 4 drawers then set patterns that were taking up space in the craft room and lord and behold what treasures I found going through them lol
Now this one has to be at leat 10 years old if not longer..I ooh'd and ahhh'd then opened the instructions and remembered why I hadn't attempted it..lol
Wow that is beautiful but look how tedious it will be.
I plan to sort through some dishes that we haven't used in the past 5 years. It is thinning out time and today is perfect weather for doing this activity. Then I will move to my sewing machine and play for a while.
I don't think I would have attempted that pattern either. Is that foundation piecing?
This message was edited Jan 10, 2014 9:35 AM
That's a bit much!!!! I wouldn't attempt it either. Years ago I might have but not now!!!!
Actuall I went back into the package it it has adhesive template..guess it would be like doing a puzzle..would be something WHEN I get my hip done, hmmm maybe!
Sounds like we are on a purging/cleaning mission.
I have been keeping up with an organizing link, used to follow it and now at the start of the new year I thought why not...so far on my daily task list I've kept up and done more..makes it a game.
I know my old eyes wouldn't allow me to attempt such a detailed project.
That looks complicated, Betty
Looked at it some more, they have a system for doing it..1/4" seam allowance and done in sections, not appliqué as I had thought.
Break time, proud of myself, got fridge, stove done, they almost look brand new..mega food going to the dump, mostly due to freezer burn..freezer downstairs is defrosting, leaves floors to wash and shine then I can feel good about my day.
Good morning everyone,
I'm happy to report much less pain today and my package with pain pills arrived. It left Ca. on Dec. 20.!!! It usually doesn't take that long but I've already ordered the next batch and hope I can keep ahead so I don't run out.
Susan, so glad you are having time with your mother. It is something you wil never forget.
Someone asked abou t the breeds of my four dogs. I tell people they are all "Mexican." Jenny bear is big and sort of german shepard looking. Her fur is long and wavy, kind of golden brown. Her face is a lot like a shepard. Scout is also big; she is short-haired and looks like a boxer. Brown in color. Twink is medium-sized and beige; short-haired. Very mixed-breed as is Max who is the smallest (but don't tell him that - he's the only male and very macho). He can literally stand under either Jenny or Scout. He loves to play with them and they have a lot of fun together. Max is a medium brown with a cute "dog" face. He's also short-haired which is good as he doesn't like to be petted ecept where he can see your hand and would not tolerate being brushed unless he was seriously sedated.
Waiting for my pain pill to work so I can finish (I hope) packing up the t-shirts.
Betty, maybe you could get some fabric aints for part of that project. Would that work for the itty-bitty pieces? More than I would be up to tackling.
The schizandra herb does seem to be hlelping to decrease the pain but I'm glad to have the medicine again.
hugs, katie
Crissy got her cast off and is wearing a brace I saw on FB, but haven't heard from Dianne. Will maybe give a call tonight or tomorrow.
Trying to do deep breathing and tough love....doing pretty well so far. Knock wood.
Today high is 38...tomorrow supposed to be 50!!! What that will do to snow/floods is not good.
Betty, rest while you can!!!
Susan, hugs and prayers miss....sure do understand.
I think I need a one way ticket.....sure am getting myself into some messes lately!!!
Debbie
Katie, schizandra herb, do you grow your own herbs or is the a herbalist nearby..your troupe of furries sound adorable, sure wish you had a way to take phopto's of the mexican furries.glad your pain meds arrived and glad you are ordermg so there will be no lull between prescriptions.
Max you have to watch right, the one that nips you from time to time? What's your weather 80's-90's? Make me envious. Lol
Debbie thanks on news re Crissy..hopefully she will drop buy with further update of how she is doing.
Hard love, sounds as though you are gaining ground..are you out shopping looking for ball/bat/wagon and little boy clothes yet?? That ought to bring
you joy.
Washed the floors, as soon as I spray wax them I will treat myself to chicken souvlaki dinner have a quiet evening.
