Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all

Took a quick look outside, doubt I'll get out today nor tomorrow, wild out there

No call from mom, hopefully I will be able to call in around 8 or 9 or she may call me

Susan, what great news, easy to still believe in miracles and mankind

Hope you are all safe if you are having the storm and sub zero temps passing through your neighborhood..

Haven't heard from Suzanne so guess I'm driving into Barrie

Finish doing hair, getting dressed and out to clean the car

Suzanne has it in her mind we are going in

Warnings, warnings and more warnings and she wants to go in
They say it will get worse she says well leave if it does

Crazy,crazy

Called mom, was a long night for her
Sharon will get there around 10 then mom will leave to get some rest

Victoria Harbour, ON

Suzanne came to get me, Rita and I were out shovelling 1 1/2 of snow, vehicles were buried..I told Suzanne it was more than ridiculous taking a chance in this weather

Got 'stay home then' and she left

Just what I needed

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh great! Can't believe she would even want to chance it. Just know that you're doing the right thing. She'll get over it.

Glenview, IL

Good Day...
Oh good gosh, is it freezing out there!!
School for Jake was called off, thanks be, Most all schools have been shut down, wish store would close to, i mean it is nuts to be out there.

So I was glad to see many are going to just stay in, smart move.
Marion, yikes, can't believe your weather.

Marilyn,My deepest condolences to you and Jewels family.
You may not realize, how much comfort you have given Jewel and her family with your visits.
I think, too it is a special Honor to give an Eulogy for your friend.

I guess the only support I can give to you is, do what you always do, speak from the heart.
You and the family remain in thoughts and prayers.

Betty, wow, this weather sure has everyone in a tizzy. I am kind of surprised the office is still opening.
But, i guess business never stops, even Steve is going about his daily routine!

You know my friend, for you and Mom and all of your family, I pray, Jim goes home in comfort.
yep give him the meds.
this reminds me of my Papa Jack, he actually passed at home the day after Thanksgiving. Thanks to God, he just never awoke, Mumma was with him. Anyway, I think, your Mom and Jim have said what they will. His squeezing her hand says he understands. Allow her the comfort of not being there. I know it is really a hard thing to do. But consider her greatest fear of loosing him and coming to terms that it is time.
for You and Sharon, may you both have the continued strength to get through this very difficult time.

I don't know, I hope I am making some sense.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ndefinately are Judy

Wow. Someone opened up the heavens and what was being stored for the rest of the winter is coming down..old fashion winter for sure

Believe Dianne will get the freezing rain more than the sow..hope not
Think Debbie is getting what I'm getting

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! 32 here this morning. Don't know how you all up North do it. I lived in Michigan the first 30 years of my life, but I could not do it now!
Stay warm please?
Betty, you need to have someone dig out your snow blower please? You should not be shoveling!!!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Snowing here in TN too. Just can't get away from it. Have some unplanned changes coming. Puts everything else on the back burner.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well hope the unplanned changes is you will try and get the house you and hubby want so badly regardless of selling your place on the lake..yep, someone would rent it..go for it.

Yes going to see if Kyle or gre can come, thing is 90% of snow is done by my plowman it's just the walkways and it's difficult to use the flower for such a small area

Rita did most of it..no Andrew yet, municipal plows havent passed so he waits until they do so have doesn't have to come back the 2nd time

LindaKay, would indeed be hard for you living in this..tomorrow it's suppose to be -40 without wind factor

Decided to try the 1600 on the frame but must learn to thread it right first

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

32 is about our normal for January and part of February. Don't think I could handle those cold temps!!!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

We've been really spoiled here in Ohio. Surely aren't used to this cold. That's why they changed our zone from 5 to 6!

I said I wasn't going to complain about the cold because of our dear Canadian friends who post here about their minus temps, but geez it's hard not to!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Andrew came to plow, said indeed we got another 1 1/2 ft..says if it keeps up he will not know where to put the snow

Must get out and take a few photos

Think had ice storms, blizzards, white out not been for almost every day for nearly 3 s straight we could adjust

Lyndonville, NY

Morning,

We have high winds and the cold, but the snow is supposed to pass us by. BUT....just a few miles up the road, they are expecting 2 to 3 feet!!! AND for Paul at work also....the high amounts.
As I said, the snow is just blowing around what is already there with this wind. The roads and driveway are like ice though as so bitter cold.

Stay safe everyone....

Continued prayers for Jim & everyone

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Just booked my flight.... will be odd to be separated from Bob for a week, but awesome to be with my family (yaaaaaaaay, My MOM!!) and friends! :-)

Going tomorrow am, and returning early afternoon on the 14th.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Have a safe flight Susan!

Victoria Harbour, ON

How excited you must be, here is hoping your time with family will be all you want it to be.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Akadoodee .. we are flippin well FREEZING here, so much so I hesitate to even type the #. but, it's MINUS 40 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I took down Christmas, which meant using the wheelbarrow to cart stuff out to the garage .. did it while hubs was away to prevent the UN MELDING of minds syndrome LoL
When he gets home from his dental appt he'll see ONE box in the wheelbarrow needing to be put away in the garage, otherwise, the house is DEFROCKED !!

Jewel's obit in our paper was too wonderful .. actually tearing up as I type this, she was SUCH an animal LOVER ..
Her BFF has said she will do the eulogy if I stand beside her .. sounds good to me ..

Betty, I am just amazed at the amounts of snow you have gotten !!
One thing about COLD, you can't shovel it !!!
All of you trying to navigate through this cold, hold on, SPRING is a comin !!!!! I swear, I will run out and KISS the first Robin LoL

Susan, I am just SO happy that 'Calgary Angels' made your trip to WPG possible .. they are for sure the best.
I hope your trip is all it needs to be ..

Off to do supper

Toodles (Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr)

~M~

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yeah, hope so too! It's -36c with windchill in Wpg at the moment... -27c regular temp.....
brrrrrrrrr it was -46c this morning!!
it's plus 4C here...... what a temp shock it will be!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Is it a long flight? Make sure you dress warm.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

2 hour flight, and I just pulled out my Sorel boots... they're nice and warm, and I have a long "fake" fur coat that reaches to the ground. Not exactly a "fashion statement" to mix the two, but at least I'll be WARM lol

mulege, Mexico

Susan, that is wonderful news. What great friends you have. Have a safe trip and enjoy the time with your family.

I decided to sort the boxes of t-shirts I have (it's a ong story and not very interesting) as I had trouble finding what I had yesterday. So I've been going through them, counting colors and sizes and will cross out all the old markings on the boxes and be ready for the next sale.

Dana did very well with her sale. They had several other vendors in their large parking area and everyone did very well.

Cannot immangine the person calling about possibly buying the cottage. Sometimes a crisis brings out the worst in people.

By the way, I pay a monthly fee of $20 to play poker. Some games for points with which you can enter games for money. Works well for me as I can play when I'm in pain and not get so upset over mistakes.

Having a lazy day with my dogs and my t-shirts.

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

"M" is the funeral tomorrow? Will be difficult for sure.
Just listened to the weather, we will get you - weather in the a.m. Brrrr
Every once in awhile you can't see a thing outside, warning all to have car full, blankets and goodies before taking the road just incase..not sure I will ghetto the specialist appt on Wednesday seeing I still have to getto Midland to pick up X-rays..seems as they I've waited till the end to get paperwork butdr.'s office only opened thursday for me to pick up paperwork then48 hour wait for hospital to get X-rays for me and then in the storm, housebound.oh ell, another bit won't hurt.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Katie, that is a reasonable fee for such great entertainment..
How often will they hold these sales and are most of the buyers Mexican.
Think you once said there were a lot of non Mexicans living in your region..Are thirst new?
You must have enjoyed it seeing you are up to doinfpg it again.

How's the bite

Big to do again today..
mom called me, my heart just went out to her..says Sharon and mike said they washed their hands of her..want to help her get a place, sell house and cottage but Lordy, surely they. can wait even if they do have potential byer ..

Sharon emailed me saying she knew mom spoke to me about what went on today, told me to believe only 1/2 of what she says as she is so distraught she is only hearing what she wants to hear. I never responded to the email..I so don't want to get involved in what is going on.
Death often destroys families.

I talked softly, agreed with much she said wether I should have or not, it seemed to sooth her somewhat.
She went on how Mike said he would have nothing to do in helping if brian, Sharon's son who has lived with her much of his life (47yrs old) was still staying with her..she said everyone was so against Brian but he would be company for her and she would not have to live alone..Guarding how I said it I said that my knowledge of Brian, all negative came from her, listening to all he did and did not do, how she couldn't take him living with her and Jim..never heard in all these years positive feedback..she actually said she understood.

She is alone at Sharon's which isn't the best ..told me she had a bottle of pills and might take them. Told her that wasnt the answer

When next I speak with Sharon I will explain that many might take her as a 'cold' person as she is so matter of fact and ever shows emotion..thatcan be misunderstood..but that is where I shall stop

May the Lord walk with me..sure is an overwhelming time

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - have I missed Jim's passing? I tried to scroll through, and am not sure........

Victoria Harbour, ON

no, he did not pass on..nothing but a skeleton..amazed how strong humans are

Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yes Betty - I do understand how strong we humans are..... like my mom, when she was hallucinating, she was very strong when they tried to restrain her at the hospital (so she didn't hurt herself).
It took 3 people, and my mom's only 84 lbs, 4' 11'

omg omg omg..... the friend who dropped off "dinner' the other night, emailed me awhile ago, and said she had something to drop off..... it was one of those Gift Baskets (a neighbour of hers won it) and a Gift Card for a grocery store (from the same neighbour)!!! $100.......
Bob was so overwhelmed by the generosity of someone we don't even know, that he broke down and cried....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ohhh Susan
2014 will surely be both you and Bob's year..more good things to come

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - this is certainly an auspicious start to the year.......
I'm flummaxed, and gob-smacked.....!!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Wow ... Susan .. how nice to receive the gift basket, and, SMART of you to dress so warmly.
We're at -47 now and 'things' are starting to stop functioning ( I'm one of'em)

Sad day .. funeral is Wednesday at 1pm .. Gord and I will go, and I will stand by as eulogist if Patti can't do it.
Pic in the paper was just lovely, made me cry ..

Off to bed,

~M~

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Gift Basket AND the $100 gift card...... and it's good for either gas, or groceries, cuz this grocery store has a gas pump as well.......

Marilyn - the Lord is holding him, and I know you'll be able to stand up to support her... Patti is lucky to have you there.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening all,

Jim is now with the Lord

Sharon's daughter had to drive to Tim Hortons in the blizzard in order to charge a phone

Power is out at Sharon's where mom is

Sharon was able to speak with mom for a few minutes, wishes she could have driven home to tell her

She is unable to leave hospice because of the blizzard so has to spend the night

They are not sure when the undertaker will be able to make, likely not before daybreak if even there

With weather storming from here to Sharon's once again I will not be able to,go to the city to help with mom.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I am so sorry to hear that Betty but know in my heart that Jim is at peace and free of pain. Hugs and prayers for you, Sharon, your mom and all the family.

Wish I could help get power restored during this time but alas I am helpless in that area.

Peace my friend.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Bless you Betty....... and bless all your family for all they're going through...
My prayers are with them.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hugs to you and your family Betty, difficult days ahead, Jim is now at peace.

Baton Rouge, LA

Betty - I am so sorry for your loss...... (HUGS)
Mary

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Both Norm and I send you and your family our most sincere condolences. Praise God that Jim did not linger more than he did and that he is at peace. You did everything possible Betty and you should have no regrets. Our prayers are with you. Love, Barb

Would it be possible to have Jim's full name?

Pacifica, CA

oh betty,
thoughts and prayers out to you and your family.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank you all for your prayers.

Just so frustrating not being able to be there

This mornimg Sharon picked two reading to say over Jim as he leaves hospice..likely she will be the only one representing the family.

I can hear the wind howling..about -40 temps, snow

Often bus cancellations but schools open for those who can walk, just announced closing schools as well

Every warning being posted

Worried about mom with no hydro

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

My most sincere condolences Betty .. I can only imagine that Jewel is there to take his hand and they can journey on together.
As for the state of the Province doen your way, what can I say! STUNNED.
We have arctic cold -45 , but, NO snow .. hard enough to deal with the cold, nevermind that much snow!
I was wondering if a call to the OPP might trigger someone into doing something? You might be surprised once you explain the circumstances. ..

Again Susan, best wishes and safe travels ..

HUGS to everyone

~M~
