5 am and I've given up trying to sleep. Am sitting here having some hot chocolate.

amanda, you're very sweet. that's exactly what it's like! although i take all my "may make you drowsy" meds together at bedtime, so although i'm not tired, i fall asleep. it's just after those first few sedated hours....nada.

Well for some reason I am burning the candle at both ends again and I've enjoyed looking for and finding images that deal with our common condition.

Don't have much to say today - have a lot going on and some travel - managed to make some of you upset with me. Well that's not generally my style, but there it is.

Court brought me some very pretty roses today to chase away the blahs at my desk. That was very nice of him - particularly since there's not much blooming outside. I did see something creepy on my walk around the neighborhood this afternoon.

A lovely pink camellia shrub that typically blooms at the end of December/into January has already bloomed out and the flowers are fading and turning brown. For some of us who take note of those farmers almanac events you realize that the climate change thing has big big big consequences in the garden. Birds that rely on fruits or nuts - particularly migrating birds - cannot rely on foodstuffs previously available - as well as insects and our beloved butterflies - particularly the migrating Monarch as an example - this year northern migration was delayed by cool weather, sprout and flowering of milkweed it relies on for nectar and larval host was also delayed. By the time the last generation of Monarchs was traveling south through NC (which was also delayed) most of the perennial MWs had already bloomed and were defoliated. Towards the end there my potted tropical MWs were commuting in and out every day to avoid frost overnight. I enjoyed being able to offer the butterflies and moths some nectar plants that otherwise would not be available due to our changing climes.

Crazy.

I've given up trying to sleep, just to excited! I made the last payment on my mortage yesterday and am now the sole owner of this property. I just wish my sissy had lived to see this day.

Well if you were looking for cold, just come to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Freezing rain, ice pellets and not-quite-snow. The problem is there's no plan to deal with this type of event. American Airlines canceled 90-100% of their flights. Schools were canceled, stores didnt open, people stayed home from work and didn't get their cars started.

Plus when it's hot, it's SO hot that there's a fine film of oil on some roads. Add a thin layer of water and it's scary to drive. Make that a thin layer of ice and it's impossible to travel.

Don't know why I woke up, but some hot chocolate might help in any case. Right marti?

the answer is C. Is that nuts? My list goes back to 2007. I could start opening pages of old threads and taking them off the watch list, but not sure I care to bother.

Expecting the freezing rain here all tomorrow afternoon. Between the weather and football, it would be a good day to visit the big Mall, as in not too busy. But I really don't have a reason to go.

I guess I'm the only one up around here. I'm having bad leg cramps and can't sleep. I'll be glad if the weather gives me a break and I can get to cutting up all those tree limbs in the yard. I've also got to go collect more carpet to kill the grass and weeds for my veggie garden.

I feel pretty good , just not sleeping like I should ...
Feel bad for you about the cold or soreness cramps . I get occasional med cramps .. almost knock me down when the meds are not right ..

I think Amanda is hiding , that $1.00 she is getting for the 50,000 packages she is mailing out for the milkweed , wild plant project .. lol

There are 2 places near me that sell and install carpet. I clean out the stuff they are throwing away. Than I lay it carpet side down in the yard and BINGO no weeds. I'm getting the yard ready inbetween rain and freezing weather for spring. All of my veggie garden will be in containers, so am also collecting anything I can plant in.

The container thing here also , buckets , pans , trays ,, on and on ,, I like my sprouters though ..
Ate some radish sprouts today ,, they definitely taste like Radishes .
One of my hope to attempt ,, it works pretty good ..

Shown that before ,, Went out and walked the dog ,
Came in warming back up ... fixing some potatoes and herb chicken ..
Then sleep a while ?
Definitely "wrong" traditional as for Monday . oh well ..
About 19 degrees outside , black slippery ice , under a thin layer of icy snow crust .. yeah , same old , it's cold ..

Up a 4 am slept a whole 3 hrs .. wow , cat napping , I guess it is ..

Am I the only night owl up?? We were surposed to have snow but so far none.
I start my volunter job this morning at 8am.

I seem to be up most nights for a while, but posting with cell phone would wake me right up. Tonight I am out-of-sorts. I am a little bit sick but not so most people would notice. I just don't know how awake I will ever get tomorrow. I think I'll probably give myself the day off tomorrow. I think I just have a little bitty cold. Usually I have coffee in the morning and then I'm up until I take my bedtime pills which often but not akways put me to sleep for a few hours.

I am having a cup of coffee this morning .
Snowed about a half inch last night .

I did my thing at my volunteer job yesterday. They told me that no one has come in to volunteer that were able to jump in and run solo like I did. I only made a couple of mistakes in coping paperwork, but they said not to worry, it was easy to fix. When they asked if I wanted to come back today and I said I'd be in at 8 am they all clapped for me. They also said they were sorry that for my first day they had dumped me in the fire by leaving me alone, but we got more peoople cared for that usual for them because the were able to leave me alone to do the coping of paperwork and greeting people and signing them up and that left them do process them. We'll see how I do today.

IS That an all day job or just mornings ?
Do you get a few hours to sleep from now until then or are up until this time tomorrow ?
Copying paper work ,, fax or do you have to have on a com top then print . ?
Sounds tiring except for the people , good to help though , of you .. Way to go !!!^_^

I work from 8 am til noon than have an hour lunch, than back to work from 1 til 3 pm. This is a community action agency and we help people with their heating bills. So they bring in their bills, their source of income and id and I have to copy all of that for each person and than they wait to see the other ladies who go over everything and make sure that the person qualifies for help. I found about this group just last week when a friend got me to apply for help and of my $100.00 electric bill, they are paying $98.00. That was a surprise to me and a big help than I found out they needed someone to volunteer to answer phones and greet people and I said why not. I was thinking of volunteering someplace and this looks like a good place and they are helping people.

Sounds like real job , and you really get to do something nice for people too !!! Keeps you motivated also ..goood !!!

Well, awake again!! I'm having a good time on my volunteer job. I answer phones, greet people, explain what paper work they need to qualify for help and do alot of coping on the copyer. I have to make 2 copies of their paperwork. I also file and am working on straightening up the files. Some of the file drawers are really a mess and out of order, so I get to help straighten them out when I have time. Today is our last day til January, than we'll be doing crisis help. That's when people come in cause they're got a shut off notice.

That sounds really great, Marti. Specially nice to be able to feel like you're giving back. Happy for you!

I've been sleeping well! Must believe that all the strenuous physical activity helps one to sleep better.

That, and its too damned cold at this hour NOT to be under the covers. AND the dog makes big, disapproving SIGHS when I turn the lights on my gadgets while she's trying to sleep. Funny!

Marti, that job does sound meaningful and rewarding. Good for you! There was a time--before I married DH, after i kicked out the nasty father of my kids==when I would have been first in line for that kind of assistance.

Awake again. When will this madness end?! Hahaha. Not being awake last night screwed me up. Next thing I knew it was almost 11 am and me just rolling out of bed. Ooops.

We had our neighborhood Christmas party last evening. Court calls it "the breeder' s club" as there are quite a few children, but I enjoy seeing TH grown ups. Nice bunch, eclectic mix. I made honey fried tofu and coconut rice. An I was on time and TH first to arrive. Inconceivable! Well almost.

The hosts live up in the next block, and they set the date a whole year in advance. Some dude named "Santa" shows up at the appointed hour and the kids go wild. Someone should tell Santa that his obesity could be life threatening. :/

That's all I've got! Wish I could get myself up to make coffee and pretend it's daylight, but it's cold and dark and my five layers of blankets and insulation beckon Me to stay.

This is weird. Awake again. Caught myself reading a book all the way thru tonight. Called "The dog stars" it is an apocalyptic story about a man who survives and flies his Cessna with his dog. Not the best, but helped to pass the time obviously!

Need to get my sleep schedule back ... I miss it.

My hours are goofed again , I woke up a while ago , slept off and on all day . Almost had my hours about right again too ... pooper huh ...?
I can live watch three or four of the end times #9 Nuclear scenarios actually happening . Besides all the stories and broadcasts ,,

Well, almost 4 am and I'm up. Just had a piece of apple pie that I made. I made applesauce last night also. Nice having friends that have a produce booth at the flea market. I get left over stuff to eat. I'll be glad when I get the tree limbs cleaned up in the yard so I can work on the garden. I finished my volunteer job yesterday and now don't have to go in unless I want to sort out files and make sure they are in proper order. I think I'll spend sometime doing that, but I also need to spend time here at home getting something done. I volunteer 5 days a week and than help out at the flea market on Sat and Sun, so I'm not getting the trailer cleaned up or my dishes done. I haven't worked since 2009 and getting back into working without taking a nap kind of got to me this week. I came home everyday and laid down for 1-2 hours.

The problem is, every morning I read what was posted the night before, and then the thread doesn't show up with a new post. That's hardly insurmountable, as problems go.

I burned myself on the power adaptor from my computer. Yesterday the weather turned cold and I was aware of how cozy and warm the adaptor felt on my leg. Then this morning when I took a shower I noticed a big red bubble there, then the bubble popped and now it's just raw skin w/ bacitracin and a bandaid. :(

12.15 AM and I'm up. I spent Saturday afternoon, evening, and night sick. So I spent Sunday in bed resting. I did fix dinner for my nephew and his girlfriend and I even ate a little. My first real meal since I had oral surgery. I fixed them Taco Salad Bowls. I only ate the meat, fine chopped lettuce, tomatoes and cheese with some avacoto and sour cream. Tasted good! :)

My volunteer job is over until after the first of the year, unless I want to go in and work on straightening up the files. I just may go in for a few hrs a day just to get out of the house, but I also have to get busy and start burning these downed limbs in my yard. I saw where my irist is already trying to grow up under the mess of tree limbs. I'll need to get some starter fuel to get the burn pile going. Than I'll burn small amts at a time.

About 5am now . one wakes up , paces around a while , goes back to bed , wakes up after a few hours paces around some more , Then one is up for the day and it all starts all over again . ?
I think this thread is staying around for intermediary purposes ?
I have no idea what I am talking about accomplishing ... good morning ..^_^ lol

Well, 12:06 am and I'm up again. Course, went to bed at 8 pm I was so tired.. I spent Monday cleaning the kitchen and my bedroom and had a friend, Margaret over for dinner. Today it is surposed to be 27 degrees during the day, so I am planning on staying inside and keeping warm.

I made cinnamon rolls, started after ten pm so at 11:30 DD and I shaped them and panned them and I was WIDE AWAKE. DH has been in bed since before ten.
I've been googling and listening to the classical station …couldn't believe when the guy said its one am.
