Omg , not easy having the responsibility of keeping things going and having to let her go

Is there anyone in the staff that could open for you and not have to depend on her?? What excuse or reason does she have for being late?
Hugs, know it will be a bad day for you Tuesday!

I have fun to share... my Sister & I flew into bradley airport in Connecticut. Closest airport to Momma. When we were getting off the plane we were given a message to go to another gate to get a package??!?? We were both confused, but being as we were told this was a message from other sister.we would listen.

We went to other gate. Asked about package. We were told no packages come to gates only passengers. We looked at each other and the light bulbs went off !!!!
Asked if they could tell us if a certain person was on the plane? They asked for a name . The lady at the gate said she could not tell us, but she could say freight is picked up elsewhere. We should just stay here. We both started to get excited!!!

We had to wait about 45 minutes.... and low and behold

Our brother got off the plane !! I have not seen him for 27 years !! My sister with me had not seen him for 20 years. My sister who lives here in Massachusetts has not seen him in about 12 years! And for Momma it has been around 10 years!!

The sister here found out he was coming just as he was getting on the plane in Hawaii. He had to tell her so we would get him at the airport!!!

So we all got a tremendous surprise :)

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

wow - what a wonderful surprise! A lot of years not seeing family, f'sure!

Betty - enjoy, and TAKE PICTURES!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh what a pleasant surprise.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

WOW Thunder, what an awesome surprise for everyone, I hope you hugged the air out of him LoL
Is your Mum not well? Will keep your family in my T&Ps

Got the turkey pie made, Dianne, looks wonderful, can hardy wait to bake it ...
Pickling has gone by the wayside, making an apple pie instead ..

So beautifully sunny, but only in the low 30s .. still and all I think I'll go out and take a walk up and down the driveway ..

Take care all

Thunder that brought tears to my eyes..can't get much better than that! Hopefully your mom is doing well and that is what she was hiding from you..great reunion

Darlene has been unwell, did too much since we arrived

At 10:00 am she woke and said it was going to be one of those sick days so I was to take her vehicle and entertain myself

Well I decided to walk to the beach..hmm 1 hr walk, nobody was there, sat and read for a bit,had taken lunch..enjoyed it

Hardly a wave, didn't put my feet in the water, lkely do so tomorrow

Talked with a woman, Florida nurse who was showing her son who just arrived from Italy how nice and quiet the beach was..we gabbed, she offered to take me home , I said if she dropped me off at end of the main road I'd appreciate it..so here I'm back, record time and Dar is still sleeping.

Got the package LindaKay..you did spoil me

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad you got your package.
Sure hope Darlene is feeling better soon.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I got tears too Thunder!! What a fantastic surprise. Hope your Mom is okay.

Sounds like you are relaxing Betty. That's good. You really did need to rest up so you can go full tilt when you get back home. Sorry Darlene isn't feeling up to par. Hope it is short lived.

Apple pie sounded good so I made applesauce cake. I can't make a pie crust to save my soul!!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

You have company Barb. I can't make a pie crust fit to eat....Ross used to say they would make great boards. Yes, we did stay married for 44 years...longer if the "c" word had raised its ugly head!

Thunder, I can only imagine your shock. Enjoy your time together and I so hope your mom is doing well.

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Thunder, I too got very teary-eyed! Reminds me of seeing "Shoe" last year for first time.

I hadn't seen him since I was TWO!! So at least 50 years since we saw each other face to face.
OH how excited you must be to all be together!!! So happy for you.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

EASY pie dough recipe .... E A S Y !!!

5 cups of flour
Cut in one pound of lard (I use Crisco)
Wait til the flour and lard look like bits n pieces .. crumbly
ADD one can of white POP (soda) I use 7UP, but Sprite or gingerale works too

Mix with your hands (it's gooey to start) then form into dough balls .. I usually get 7
Put them in wax paper or ziploc bags the freezer and use as needed (thaw them a bit)
If you wanted to use the dough sooner, always put it in the fridge for about an hour to firm it up ..

Easy, and GOOD

Victoria Harbour, ON

I have a non fail recipe as well, can't miss!

Barb, how right you are, my 'go crazy' time when I get home

Can't get much laid back then I am right now

Darlene is still resting, I just had a 1/2 hr nap

Got an email from Sharon' says

3 puppies with cleft palates.... one died just after being born... the other
2 sounded like they had fluid, so I rushed everyone to the vets...  turned
out those 2 had cleft palates, I had to put the down.

2 more pups .... needed a c-section to get them out... the boy is great...
but the girl's lungs weeren't fully developed.

Such a heart break!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh thanks M for the recipe...will certainly give it a try. I guess being born and raised southern, I have just compromised by always doing a cobbler. Funny thing, my daughter can make a very good crust.

So sad about the puppies Betty. I can only imagine the heart break for Sharon.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Made the BIG mistake of reading Sharon's email re the pups to Lorna, she is sobbing, not to say I'm not, that is just way too sad for words ..

Sure hope that Darlene is going to start feeling better prior to your leaving Betty (with luggage) LoL

Pie dough recipes, so many of'em out there .. I once had one that called for vinegar and milk and an egg mixed in with the flour and lard .. such a busy business .. and, gooey !!
Just popped the turky pie into the oven .. looking forward to it ..DH takes our grandson shooting on Wednesday evenings, 'Young Shooters' quite a nice club, tonight will be their Hallowe'en shoot, everyone will dress up and prizes for targets will be on the Hallowe'en theme, as in, C A N D Y !!!

Are the Warren's Santa names coming out on Nov.1
Have a good memory, but, short ^_^

A very old city landmark here in Thunder Bay, and, well used (travelled) by folks, burned last evening .. it was a railway bridge .. not sure if it can be repaired .. engineers are looking it over as I type this .. we use it to go to my sons and my brothers, otherwise it's a 6 mile difference by hwy.

pie is smelling good Dianne ^_^ ..
added onion and our garlic to it ..
Lilly and Piper walk past the stove and look inside as I have the light on inside, I am SURE they think it's for them ~~

Toodles everyone

~M~

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

wow - poor Sharon..... must be heartbroken...... I can't imagine!!
yum...... PIE! Can hardly wait until National Pie Day in the US! lol

Verona, ON

Yep the boys and I will pick the names tomorrow for Santa Warren's Exchange. It has been a bit frantic here with me doing the quick step trying to keep Duke quiet. Ha!!!! Tomorrow I am springing him... more for me I think although he seems just fine. The vet said 10 - 14 days but the way is frolicing around when I walk him I would say he is healed.

M you are making me hungry for turkey pie. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Oh Betty my heart just aches for Sharon and those puppies. Sending prayers of comfort for her. Laughing here at you and your suitcase!

Need to start my evening walks for the pups. Sure is dark out there.

Mary the treat bags sound just wonderful. I would be overjoyed to receive one.Sending positive thoughts to you and hubs that the opening will go smoothly. I know it will. Have you been feeling extra tired these last few mornings after our walk? That's because I am doing the walk twice. Saw 2 herons this morning so am thinking they will be staying all winter. Great for us as it always perks me up to see them. Years ago when I had my 2 Samoyeds there was a huge heron that stayed for the winter. He got so tame my 2 wooly dogs could go sit beside him on the dock.

Thunder what a great visit you are having. Wonderful surprise! Here I thought my family was the winner when it came to not seeing sibs - I think we can call it even.
Dianne

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Awesome surprise for you , Mom and sisters Thunder. Hope you all enjoy visiting.

I have a great pie crust recipe I got from Face Book. I too could never make a decent crust. This one is made with butter and is so easy and tastes wonderful. I would share but I'm still in TN and it's at home.

Probably going to be here for a while longer...darn....Helping granddaughter with a move and new place needs a bit of painting and fixing up.

Baton Rouge, LA

wiped out ladies.

Hugs Betty...

Dianne missing walks sorely... it would be good for the soul right about now... can just picture the samoyeds sitting quietly with the heron. passed one off the road today they are so stately.

Morning has broken, with frost on the ground, and an orange/red surise that's knock yer eye out ^_^
Smokey rallied me (for company) @6am, but, he let me pat him for about 20 more minutes, nothing like a nice dose of cat fur and dander first thing in the morning, good thing I'm not sensitive to it.
Now all 3 animals are on their 'morning perches' snoring away, while i sip my coffee and try to straighten out my day.

Mary, can tell you're getting excited .. I know all will be well with the opening ..

Dianne, the turkey pie was astounding !! Luckily I made it in a deep dish pie plate as I had way more turkey than anticipated ..
Do so hope you Duke is healed and that the walks with he and Diesel get back on track.
I still haven't taken our 2 walking yet, still not quite steady enough on my right leg, but, it'll come.

Lorna is off to look at a used truck today, her little Chev is still up for sale, someone handy with cars is missing a good deal, but, as soon as they learn we live in the country, well, it's like the end of the world to come out here to see the car!

Betty, hope Darlene is feeling better today .. enjoy your day ..

TOODLES all

Victoria Harbour, ON

Happy Halloween everyone, going to miss all my little trick or treaters..

Gorgeous day here, not sure what I shall get up to but know it will involve sunshine

Darlene is up and feeling a lot better..

Thanks for all the well wishes for Sharon, you know her, dogs are her life.

Mary, down near the ocean was a river bed, gorgeous blue heron sitting on a branch..took photo, just so calming, exactly what you need right now

"M" Lorna must be feeling confident with the fit of her leg to be thinking of purchasing a truck
she has to get up into

Karen, I'm sure you would rather be there than back in cold country, just don't overdo

Anxious to get my name Dianne, don't rush the boys, want them to be comfy when they start their moving papers with names towards you. Glad Duke will get his freedom today, been a long haul

All the talk of pies, might go to public and buy one for desert

My days here are getting shorter, looked at my notes of Christmas items and projects I have to do, yep time to head home

Guess I will start my day
Enjoy yours

You both were thinking of driving down to see her mom/dad, still thinking?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

The joy of blue herons! The street I live on is Blue Heron Point and it was named that for a reason. For the past 8 years (when I wasn't down helping with mom) I have my coffee each morning watching the herons feel along our bank. We are on a point and it's a very natural shoreline. My slice of heaven! It won't be long and the woodies will be joining the herons....nature at its best.

Victoria Harbour, ON

For sure a slice of heaven

Loved early morning when I lived on he lake, cries of the loons, Canada geese, frogs, soothing sounds!

Sharon just emailed that she lost the little female dog..wrote

"I’m told it’s a lack of folic acid during the skeletal developmental stage…. Lack in the mother.
No this was her last litter."

Just wrote her asking why with all the testing and X-rays why it wouldn't have been found and meds given..

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Love reading about the Blue Herons .. seems they like both warmer and cooler climates. We have them here in Northern Ontario as well, in fact DGS, Austin thought one was a 'Terradactyl' (sp) at the time he was about 9 or 10 and totally taken with Dinosaurs.

Did you get back to the beach Betty? I hadn't mentioned re how kind that lady was to you the other day re driving you home .. angels do walk on this earth.
Re Sharon's pups, shed a lil tear everytime I think about it .. she must be despondent ..good to hear she won't breed that dog again. I know Lilly's Momma, Missy, developed a gallbladder problem after the litter following Lilly .. she couldn't be bred again either, the breeder called to see if I wanted to buy her, but, the price was just a tad too high for me ..

Well .. Lorna has an offer in on a 2008 Dodge Dakota .. looking good .. she has researched this and feels quite confident it's the way she wants to go ... only prob .. the previous owner was a SMOKER .. I lasted about 8 minutes in the truck, and, Lorna is not to even be around cigarette smoke due to her blood condition, so, if the deal goes through .. the vehicle will have to be WELL cleaned by the dealership.

Bought some Salmon for supper, guess I should wrok some magic with it LoL

HAPPY HALLOWE'EN

Then Chinese for supper

That will fill a day I'm sure

Was telling the girls on a sewing thread saw a singer sewing machine, heavy duty for $50
Almost tempted to go get it..when I come at Christmas could bring it home for the girls but then I've a,ready got 4. Lol

Evening will be long, no craft to do..I can say I rested well while here

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

YAYAYAYAYAYA .. Lorna is APPROVED, and, will pick up her 'new to her' truck .. she is SO excited ..
Our driveway will look like a League of Nations for vehicles .. A Toyota, a GMC and now a Dodge LoL

Good luck with your busy day tomorrow Betty .. have you seen any Camelions? Murray used to love catching them when we were down visiting my parents, of course, i didn't like'em one bit !!
Hope you find something unique at the quilt shop ..

Oh happy days "M" on both Lorna getting her vehicle and now you being mrs Santa

How exciting!

A few years ago I made Sue and Lenny Santa and Mrs Santa outfits, Lordy they were nice..will have to show you a photo

Darlene and I were craving for cake and ice cream, took a run to public and bought an ice cream cake

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All;

Thank you Marilyn for your comment.... it truly made me realize that some of this stress IS actually excitement and I need to realize that.
Love Salmon... Good to go Lorna..... hope they get that smoke out.

Betty I passed a heron right by the road the other day and it meant so much to me. Is the stress making me crazy? poetic? And now you are mentioning them.... I'm so tired maybe I already mentioned that....
Marion...I never saw herons in Florida.... so Associate them with Louisiana....
Dianne... need a morning walk ....

Vaca day today. Got up 5:30 to head to "shop" 6:30 unloaded. Today was "Trader Joes" grand opening. We sampled free gelato and gave out 500 menus. I'm wiped out but another vaca day tomorrow. it was a successful promotion.

HUGS

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Trying to make myself presentable then off for the day!

Mary, keep taking deep breathes, almost where you've dreamed of being..gelato is always in dishes not cones right?

Not the best use of vacation days Mary..you should have saved them for Florida Beach. Lol

Rita said she bought pop and candies for 100, said it was terrible weather, rain and wind so she only had 40' said we'd have munchies for awhile.

Guess she will stay with me a bit more, been too busy with her work and travelling for a few days next few weeks to look for a house..has things to do on weekends so likely we will not run into each other much..know I will live in the craft room till Christmas.

Rambled on enough, off to the market!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Morning all ... warming up here. could be in the mid 40s today ^_^

Will be heading to town to get what is referred to as 'the buyers kit' for the car Lorna is trying to sell, it'll be in the paper today .. all the kit is is proof there are no liens on the car, who the owners have been (Lorna and her parents only) and if it was ever in an accident (it hasn't been). Just hoping someone will buy it before the snow flies .. thing is, people in theses parts think driving 20 minutes out into the country is WAY TOO FAR !!!

Grabbing a coffee, have some chores to do before we go.

Betty, am hoping the Mrs Claus outfit is at least 'nice', I've seen some real horrible ones fer sure. ..

Toodles

Weather here is horrible Betty. We had maybe 40 kids.....normal is 200+.

Still having very high winds also, supposed to settle by noon.

I woke up at 4:30 a.m and am still awake. Have to go to Barbs and work around
Noon. Don't know if I can stay awake.

Waving to all....
Debbie

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

It is raining and windy here too. Since this is a locked apartment complex, there were no trick or treaters. It was a horrible night for them to go out with rain and wind.... I miss seeing the little ones.

Lyndonville, NY

Barb, here are a few of ours from last night....they were just so cute!!!

Those tiny ones just stole my heart. The "family" picture is a girl that used to live
up the road, she was a friend of my Jeanna since she was in 1st grade.....now has
3 girls of her own.
