Morning all,
They are gorgeous Thunder..been missing you, have you been working a lot of overtime? How are all the kids doing?
Karen sounds as though you made the perfect selection for wedding outfit..
What a fantastic idea re giving the pearls, Lordy wish I had a grandaughter or two..I did not know you could purchase individual pearls, that is how educated I am in jewelery..Not so sure I have anything of much value to pass on the kids, likely it would only be Kyle interested to keep what I have that is ancient.
Bet "M" you caught a cold at the fair grounds..nothing like the smell of cooking pies in the house to make it cozy/homey (omg you should have seen the word that the iPad picked for homey, you sure would have been laughing)
I will get pie pumpkins in Meaford next week then will spend Friday of thanksgiving making apple/lemon merangue, pumpin, blueberry, cherry pies in hopes all have a pie of their liking...probably making pies is what I enjoy making the most.
Sat here quietly all morning, was going to take the queen quilt to work with me to hand sew binding but with my shoulder as is decided I'd just sip coffee and hand sew which I did so all done..
Took a break, cleaned the husqvarna machine, tightened the light bulb and put it back on the frame..once I have lunch will go put a quilt on the frame then try and finish painting old mr. Scarecrow, by then it ought to be bedtime
Greg and family are off to Meaford for the weekend, kind of quiet, did I say that? I like quiet..
Best/Worse,what did I learned today? All welcome to join in
LindaKay, THANK YOU for the 'DROPBOX' suggestion, my oh my, sure makes things easy ..
Betty, am thinking the word chosen by your word picker was a winner LoL
Stopped at 5 pies, I'm done, gonna rest up a bit before getting supper on the go, plus, I have the sheets on the line, might tackle the bed myself, but I think perhaps help would be needed ..
Sharing 2 pics of the Maples in the front of the property .. they change daily .. kinda sad .. but, beautiful as well ..
Take care everyone
Toodles
~M~
Beautiful fall colors "m"
Trees are losing leaves like crazy here..quite a wind last nigh, lawn is full of them..
So much for my plans, in bed with a doozer of a headache..drats, ever feel like you are losing ground..know you will say yes "M"
Sounds like you over did it Betty.
Those trees are beautiful.
It is actually beautiful here. I sat outside with Izzy and brushed her for an hour.
The "guys" are up at the Bill's game. AND....another roadtrip for them Thursday when they
go to Ohio for one in Cleveland. Entire siblings going. I wasn't asked to go. Oh well...I will
have a party....as Shannon is gone for week too!
Beautiful day here also. Kim and I had our breakfast on the front steps of all places! Gave us a chance to finally look at the work going on in the new garden island in the front. It was just so pleasant sitting there. Loving these days!! M, the maples are fantastic.
Doesn't take much to'overdo LindaKay!
Debbie might be a good week to run away across the border
Glad Marion you and Kim are getting to enjoy just sitting..you've been running south so many times these past 3 years that just sitting gives you time to ponder what you should be doing, must hpfeel like there is always something you gforgot to do
It felt wonderful Betty. Gave both of us a chance to look at what we had done with this yard and see somethings that aren't working and others that are just perfect. Not to mention quality time with my daughter!!!!!
I might have to go south again. My sister is sick and depending on what test will be run......
I can't Betty, I am in charge of critters.
HAHA .. Debbie, have an very good friend who lives in Olean NY (family home is Dubois PA) who is a HUGE Bills fan. She's having a Bills Party today .. I have a bet with Lorna's Dad that the Ravens will beat Cincinatti .. looks like I may win as the Ravens are ahead .. woo hoo !!Gotta love the "guy pic' .. ^_^
Baked and did too much today, paying for it and looking forward to bedtime .. but.. roast is still cooking and afterall 2 kinds of pies need TESTING LoL
BUT, once I slide between those sheets, and do my dang exercises, I will be in LALA land .. just hoping I don't chat everyone up ..
Marion, good to hear you had some 'downtime' with Kim .. pretty precious that ..
Off to check the roast and start steaming some garden veggies Gord brought in ..
TOODLES
~M~
Not homemade "M" but M&M's is the next best thing tonight
Scalloped potatoes, cabbage rolls, peas
Desert is their bumble berry pie and ice cream
All takes 6 minutes of cooking. Lol
Not sure, do you have "M&M's in USA.
m and Debbie, love the photo's
Ahhhh home again, home again. Trip up was very nice the colors are coming right along and it was a nice sunshiney day.
Betty we stopped again in Frankenmuth, I decided I wanted a couple of the ornaments I got for Will & Charlotte personalized. I got them wedding, new home, first Christmas, one for the cat and one for the dog. seven in all. They have beautiful gift boxes with shredded cellophane. I bought the largest size and it's just right to hold the ornaments I got. It has a clear top so everyone can look but not touch at the shower. Should keep them safe.
Walt was so surprised I was in and out so fast today. He said don't you want to look around some? I said nope, looking is getting, lets go.
I thought I would be starting on the baby quilt but Hubby informed me they are out of powder bags for the cannons. So tomorrow I go get red flannel and make him up a bunch. Their cannonade is mid October so that will give him plenty of time to tie up the powder in the bags. Then I will have to clean my serger again as I sure don't want red flannel bits in the baby quilt.
Ahhhh lucky you Karen, Frankenmuth again..they have wonderful firsts Christmas balls and do a great job in customizing with names. Now tell me what these bags are for? Are they for a reproduction of civil war??
no overtime Betty, just lots of hard work for 8 hours a day...trying to get in a bit of sewing here and there, along with still cleaning, and rearranging Waylon's room so Levi and Meg can use it in Oct when they come for a few days. I have just been very tired, and going to bed early. working a lot of early shifts, 7-4 or 8-5. totally exhausted when I get home.
Kids are all good, Levi was away for awhile, home now. DIL's sister is getting married in Oct. so they will come spend a night, go further south for the wedding, spend a night there, come back and spend a night here...
Kyle is enjoying college !!! He has joined the Navy / ROTC sailing team !?! spending his weekends learning to sail. first competition is sometime in Oct.
Waylon is loving Washington. bought himself a car yesterday.!! decided it was too hard to look for work, and then would be hard to get to work without one. May have been an act of fate involved............He took the bus to go to Uncle Ray's house, to have Ray go with him to look at cars. on the bus sitting next to him was this man, ride is a few hours long so they had conversation.....turns out this guy is upper management for a company Waylon would LOVE to work for !!! Man gave Waylon his name and Phone #, told him where to go, and told him use his name and # for reference !!! so big time hopeful this will lead to a job!!! and it is in computer / gaming field. what he wants to go to school for !!
Hubs has taken up tie dying. been doing some nifty stuff. have not yet convinced him to do fabric for me.....but I will !!
I will have to take some pictures to show you. he made a really cute onesie for Ryleigh :)
tomorrow is my day off. hoping to finish up on bird houses.
Y'All have a good night
Hubby and about 25 other guys, have this get together every year in the middle of Oct. They wait until then so there is little or no boat traffic. They go to Harsen's Island, only accessible by ferry to a private club, dress in costumes ranging from pirates, to sailors to admirals, and they shoot cannons at a target set up in Muskamoot Bay. My hubby and sons built the cannons, youngest son built the oak carriages. They have been doing this for over 15 years. They transform a plain wood deck into the side of a ship and have 4 cannons to shoot. They only use steel balls which weigh about 2 lbs. This by the way is perfectly legal, a cannon is just a very large black powder gun. After playing all day they retire to the Commodores homes (yes he has more than one) for dinner and drinks and an evening of gaming. They spend the night and all leave after breakfast Sun. morning. My guys are the cannon crew. They get them set up. prepare for firing aim and then reload. I made their costumes.
!. The cannons, 2.The target, 3. The Commodore, 4. My crew except for the gals & kids. Also mine but just visiting.

Hi - couldn't keep up with all the "busy-ness" of you ladies. Did I see Frankenmuth as a destination?
So nice to hear all is well with your boys Thunder. Wishing all good things for them. I imagine you will be sooooo happy to see the little ones!!!
Karen - sure sounds like the guys have a lot of fun that weekend. What a great tradition to carry on for them. Here we have a Living History weekend with Revolutionary and Civil War re-enactments along with meadows set up showing living conditions and trades etc. And there is also our town center which contains the one room school and meeting house and also the homestead of President Franklin Pierce. It lasts for three days and is so much fun. My neighbor dressed as Betsy Ross and was teaching kids how to sew stars onto fabrics. They got to keep their stars and it was really cute to watch.....
Susan, I just made a couple stops there this past week-end. Buying ornaments to go with the tree skirt for DGS and fiance.
Good morning!
Note to self 'try to get to Frankenmuth'! Bucket list ..
My DH is no different on the KABOOM front LoL Only his is a smaller caliber .. he has taken part in a Voyageur re enactment at one of the tourist destinations here http://www.fwhp.ca/
so, I know all about flannel and muskets and cannons .. he loves stuff like that .. actually quite a large following up this way.
Lab work today .. needs to be done before I see the rheumatologist nest week .. still take that nasty drug every Friday, so, they have to be sure it isn't affecting my liver.
Hope everyone has a great week
Toodles

Morning all,
Fall is in the air, looks like everyone is antsy, even the men
we in Ontario have had quite a few major events celebrating 200th anniversary of the war of 1812
Because we were under British Rule and America and Britain were at war guess you could say we were battling with you in the USA!
Some of you who visited me, either at the Sistah's Reunion or on your own remember me taking you to the Penetang Naval Establishment, however, either the replica of the Fort was closed or we did not tour it..we were a stronghold in the war
some of the events:

Love the photo's, thanks for sharing..always makes posts so interesting when we get a glimpse of the 'to do's' in everyones lives
Thunder, was smilling all the way through your post..glad everyone is doing ok but sorry to hear you are exhausted, likely you've taken on too much..look forward to seeing some tie dye pieces
For sure "M" you have to visit Frankenmuth..I've been about a dozen times and I'm always in awe of the area..of course I am a Christmas fanatic so it's right down my alley
Joyce and Karen, they should hand their head in shame as they MADE me go to a fabric shop
as though I wanted to lol
so something for everyone
How did your weekend go Susan
Barb, meant to ask, are you pretty well settled in your new home, boxes all unpacked?
quiet here, on my own today
glad I have my birdhouse blocks to work on which is quite a project, likely not finish them today but once I start a project I'm pretty good at getting it done.dropped into Walmart as I needed 'heat and bond' looked at quilting books but ended up with a Paint Works Christmas magazine 30+ projects..saw a couple I might do as christmas gifts, if nothing else will get me thinking of using up my paints/oils
Spoke with Darlene last night, she has a few things to do in October but is hoping by late October she'll be on her way to Florida for the winter..she called to have me look at flights for my return after driving her down.. wasn't going to but heck, won't kill me right???
We talked about Rita my girlfriend who sold her house and has to be out next week..also separating with her hubby..she will stay at my house for 2 or 3 weeks..Darlene asked me to ask Rita if she would like to spend the winter in the house that she just bought..thought it would be nice for Rita and nice for Darlene to have someone in it..just talked with Rita, giving her options
got to say, whenever anyone is in trouble amongst my group of friends doesn't take long for one to come up with hugs, ideas and help!!!
Picked a few projects to do
wine glasses inverted to be candle holders
me the queen of wine glass painting..guess I've done over 800 for weddings and must
have a few dozen sitting around..must buy spray paint and give them a coating so they
will be ready for painting..think this project is adorable..even the back of the glass is adorable
Christmas in a bowl
I've got several wood pieces that I could paint this on with genesis oils
Centerpiece
would be a great piece to do for the DIL's
I like how they have incorporated lights into the bulbs to get that light glow, maybe
battery operated bulbs would work great..have to read up on it
Marilynne, You really do "need" a trip to Frankenmuth when you are up to a car trip. There is something for everyone, It's always Christmas, There are all things Bavarian to see and do around town. Most open 363 day a year.
Wait a minute, I wasn't even driving. How could I drag you to a quilt shop??? LOL
Proud as can be as well Thunder..not sure how any of you with family fighting for our freedom manage to sleep nights...
Karen, hmmm, was last year, perhaps I got it wrong??? lol
Karen, you are guilty by association. :-)
that is what she is
going to send photos from my phone.
my new favorite outfit !!
onsie for Ryleigh
Malena
green is mine, blue is for Malena
another rainbow for Malena. he is going to do one like this for Ryleigh too.
Ohhhhhh, by association, OK. It'll be a year next month. Waaaay too long ago to my way of thinking.
WOWee!! Those are ever bright. Look great Thunder.
I have to wear dark blue shirts and brown pants for work. when I get home I can't wait to get into something bright !!!
Y'all know I am a "bright color girl" ^_^
Thunder, those are wonderful!
omg he's doing a fantastic job, best he make things and put them for sale on e-bay or something
wow/double wow
Tell him I think it's a must that he tie dye's some fabric for you and yes, you love bright colors.
Got to find a christmas project for our workshop, would love to get it mailed while I'm in the states end of October, any ideas????
Ann just called
Seems Alex is a carrier of MRSA - Infection that hospitals get
tested Addy and she doesn't have it but then she is at Sick Kids Hospital
will mean quarantined for Alex and difficult for Melissa to give Addy milk and to see her for while or if she does she will go see her first then to see Alex
Ann said it's all really hitting her, she's having a real rough time these past few day..think she needs to stay home and rest
Sorry to hear he is a carrier, can't they give him meds to cure it?
Can't wait to see what you decide on for The Christmas project.
Kudos to hubs Thunder. I love tie dye. Like you I like to wear bright colours when at home. Warren always used to say except in the fall I wouldn't get lost in the bush. Please thank your sons for me - their service is much appreciated by me. I found a channel that shows the old show China Beach. do you remember it? I think because Nam is so personal to me I especially like the programme.Glad to read #3 son has made a good connection and got himself a vehicle. You take care of yourself!!
Oh my goodness I am not sure how much more Ann can withstand Betty. Sending prayers and thoughts of hope, comfort and strength to her and her family. How is her DN?
Well the meds have kicked in for Duke and what a difference. Poor little guy - only 1 accident in the house in the last 3 days. Now he just has to learn to come and tell me he has to go out rather than me anticipating the fact. Taken 2 deeply embedded tics off of him too - they had to have come with him they were in so deep. Duke and DIesel have certainly clicked - thank heavens. All this energy in the house has it a rockin'.
Mary how goes the prep for opening? Gotta be soon, right? How is FIL?
My body feels like rain and the sky is starting to look like it. Guess I better get the romping twosome out for a hike before the rain begins. Duke is afraid of the rain and won't come out of the carport when it does rain. Poor little guy! Gotta wonder exactly what he went through before he got to Diesel and I.
How did Noah make out with his dirt bike Betty? Hope he abided by all the rules.
Dianne
Dianne what's wrong with Duke?
Love your new car Debbie I understand there is a trick to Sirius. When they send you the renewal, just call to tell them you are canceling because of the price and they will at a minimum reduce it by half. Least that’s what my friends tell me here. I’ve never had it, I would love to though!
So happy to hear the news about Alex and Addy. Feels like we’ve been there right beside them with the prayers we’ve been sending. So happy for the parents and grandma. Auntie, too.
Susan, so sorry about the job. I lost my job in 2008. Finally in 2012 I quit looking. I couldn’t even get a face to face interview. I had one in all that time. So hoping things are better for you in Canada.
LK, sorry to hear about Steve’s set back. Bill still has A-fib and he takes Cardiazam (or whatever it’s called) in pill form everyday. Prayers go out for them and your sister as well.
Betty, you surely got that right about the Lord sending you to that lady, or vice versa. Anyway, hope Greg agrees..
Sorry about the hubby, Susan…I agree… MEN!!!!
Linda’s quilt is just beautiful. I LOVE the backing. Wish you lived closer…I’d be quilting, too!
Don’t go blaming that fabric shop on me!!!! I just twiddled my thumbs! Okay, maybe I got a little excited about that darling apron and that cool fabric Christmas Tree picture, but I twiddled the rest of the time!!!!
OH what good memories of Frankenmuth!! Can we do it again, please, huh can we, huh, can we???????
Beautiful tye-dye!
Oh phooey on the MRSA. What a PIA!!! Hope they can give him meds. Glad he doesn’t have it, but sucks that he’s a carrier. Hope Addy does okay and Alex gets better.
Hugs to all!
