She's about to... 70! Fall is in the air!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I had carrion flowers when we lived in FL. My great aunt gave then to me. They did really well, I wonder if the people who bought from us kept them.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Faye!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love and Hugs back to you my sister!! And to Ray too!
I just asked LK about you, and you heard us!!
Happy am I now, knowing you're happily playing in dirt.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

OMG! Beautiful beds Dahtzu they will be amazing in bloom! Wow . would say you have been working. It feels so good to be so tired from working in the garden. Nothing makes me happier, plus the beauty of it all.

I love those spider lilies, I can't grow those here I can grow the pink but not the red....they are so beautiful. Pride of Barbados is beautiful also.....I really need to move south...rofl.

Congrats again Cville!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

WOW, Faye, look at all that! Luv the leg shot. :-D

Thanks, happ. I think it was the rum that did it. lol. Well, it doesn't hurt to add a little extra, ya know. :)

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

I want to try it. We are having an extended family reunion and I think I am going to do that....

Livingston, TX(Zone 8b)

Made some baklava with my GD the other night.. She had to have it for School project they were doing.. Food from Egypt. It was the first time for both of us and it turned out great!

Livingston, TX(Zone 8b)

This is the recipe http://allrecipes.com/recipe/baklava/photo-gallery.aspx

Gosh you ladies made me feel good. Thank you so much lol, for feeling my working pain. Yes Joyce it does feel so good to know you've accomplished something even when the pain makes you want to cry. yep wanted to do that a few times when I finally called it a day and was hurting so bad getting back to the house was hard. But, no time for a pity party, who's coming anyway?
No joke, I do love working in my yard. Today I cut down hibiscus, cleaned some of the dead out of the Daylilys and finished putting back unused flower pots. Shouldn't have much Spring cleanup to do, I'm doing it now as it is needed.

Earlier in the week I started cutting back my Angels and have plenty to share with anyone willing to pay postage.

Debra, I'm not sure I have energy. It may be need and fear. The yard needs me, and I need the yard work for my sanity, and I'm afraid if I don't stay active, all the Arthritis in my hands, knees and back will win.

OMGoodness! hello Jaye, what a pretty happy smile you have and I'm so glad to see it. Ray has had a much better year and was told he has no more cancer in his back. Now along with the usual constant pain, he has diabetic ulcers on his leg and it is bad. Having to go to the Wound Clinic every week to have it treated and re-wrapped.

Love you all and do pray you stay well, safe and happy.

Oh Faye, those are sooo beautiful, I'm totally jealous. Maybe next year I'll be living in a place where I can have such wonderful flowers.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

beautiful brugs, Faye.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Your brugs are gorgeous, Faye. I hope Ray is staying as active as possible too. Things like that are tough.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Faye, I am so glad to hear he is cancer free! Sending prayers for his ulcers to heal quickly!

I would love to have a box full of your cuttings. Let me know when they are ready to ship!

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Linda Kay I have cuttings in water now that are nubbin and will soon have roots. I will PACK any size box you choose. What colors and names?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Names are not important, but nice if they do have names. An assortment of colors would be nice.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Oh goodness you even have names? Wowzer that is great.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Well let me be the first to greet you all with a good morning.... Seems dh and the dog woke me up but of course they are fast asleep now and I will be shot by 2pm...rofl. Been up since 2:30 tried laying there but couldn't take it anymore. I thought I might get up and clean but then I came to my senses....funny what sleep deprivation will do.... ;)

Cold and rainy here, not my favorite combination.

Faye are you still hard at it? I have to admit sometimes I like cold weather only in that if I lived somewhere warmer I am not sure my body could stay up with it...

Somewhere Debra you just posted some pics but I was trying to stay in bed and use my phone and that just doesn't work for me so well especially when I don't have my glasses on.. Going to see the Moody Blues sounds like a great time. My kind of music. Is Joe retired yet? I forgot when you said that was happening.

Well everyone have a great day..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Who is going to see the moody blues. We love their music.
Hope you get a nap today Happ.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

No naps today, a long day at work tho.... really don't feel bad. I have never been a big sleeper even as a kid, but getting up at 2:30 is not quite normal tho. 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep and I am fine but it can't be broken up. Naps put me in a stupor must be when I go to sleep I SLEEP..lol

Debbie and Jo are going to see the Moody Blues which would be so much fun. My era also.
See I posted on the wrong site, that is what happens when you are sitting in the dark on the couch in your pj's in the wee hours of the morn... Next laptop will have back lit keys. Won't help my brain but at least I can see the keyboard.

I found all kinds of cut glass bottle ideas this early morning and thought I can do that, just buy a glass bottle cutter and WaLa.....not so fast there pumpkin! I had no idea it was soooo hard to cut a glass bottle, I just figured by now they had a gadget to do it with....but after watching numerous YouTube ideas, think I will find some other thing to do...rofl.

We got rain early early and it was windy, beautiful clear out now but don't know what the temps are.

Here is my growing bloom. It is getting longer, won't be long now I took this on Saturday.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

What plant is that?

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Yay. Luv those crinum blooms. :)

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

jordonkittyjo, I forgot to say Hi and come on in.... good to have a new face. Hope you are feeling better. Yes the flu has been around the office already, started with the folks who are young enough to have school age kids.

Yeap that is what that bloom is going to be a crinum, it is really getting big and I am excited.... also when I finally got the hoya (wax plant) hung up from bringing it in I found two blooms finally. Thru all the swaps I have been receiving bits and pieces and I have purchased a couple of pieces of hoya so it is a mixed pot. Now someone wrote the name on one of the leaves and that leaf has managed to stay on but otherwise I don't have a clue which leaf is what variety but am excited about that also. It has been a long time coming.

Linda Kay are you having a nice fall temps? Any rain your direction?

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

thanks happ. dr. says I got an upper respitory infection

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

6 inches of rain Saturday and it has been drizzling since. It is 77 right now. Not bad at all. Just wish I could figure out how to keep the dog from tracking in the mud! I am tired of mopping.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Joyce, my SIL actually tried this and said it is easy and really works well.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Sili I saw that video last night and another similar and it makes sense but still if you want smooth edges there is all this sanding and grinding and I am soooo lazy. But if I try it I will do it that way for sure, some of the others were pretty terrifying...rofl. Some had to do with blow torch, yarn on fire, nail polish remover which is really flammable...some scary stuff.
HEADLINES "Crazy Women Blows Up/Burns Down House Littered With Wine Bottles"....

Linda Kay, my Aunt one time had a dog that actually wiped his feet, it was so funny. She had 7 kids and they all knew to wipe their feet before coming in the house. Well I guess while the dog everyone was lined up to get in one of the kids would grab his feet and wipe them on the mat, and just like handshaking he started wiping his feet. Wish they had video cameras back then. We have a basset and his big huge feet, ears and belly can really get wet and dirty so it is like giving him a bath everything he does that. Good thing he hates getting wet and it is amazing how long he can wait when it is raining.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

concert was great. I am like you, Joyce, can't go to bed until I am ready for uninterupted sleep, then I am good for the day. I can't go to bed earlier than 1 unless I want to get up at 6. I try to sleep 6 hours but end up with 5 or less most times. Once a month I catch up by falling a sleep in the chair while watching tv.
Kathy so sorry u r not feeling well. get better soon.
I was offered the leaf dish thing you made for the last RU we went to , Joyce., Bonnie still has not gotten her lawn art outside yet, and now it is time to come in anyway, but I told her we will get it out next year.
Joe made the recipe I brought home out of a magazine for an apple pie with pecans on top and it is perfect. He has been cooking a lot now He officially is retired as of the 1st. I am not LOL
I am gonna be a granma. My 43 yr old daughter, Karin is pg. I am very excited that my prayers have been answered. My other grandbaby is 19, and the others are four footed.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Debra, you don't look old enough to have a 43 year old child! Congrats on the grandchild! When is she due!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Oh congratulation GMOM how much fun you will be having. My DGD and I had so much fun together this summer.

Glad the concert was good we all wanted to go. My dh has taken on sooo many duties since he is retired. I feel like the husband who can't find anything in the kitchen....rofl. Never know what is for dinner and even when I see it sometimes I still am not sure...LOL he does like to experiment. Problem is if you really like it he can't duplicate it and of course the other side of that, there are those things you are happy they can't be duplicated.

40's cloudy and windy windy today! Have a couple of things in the water garden I need to get out and see if I can over winter.

What commercial fertilizers do you all use? I am so bad about not fertilizing. I know some of you have recipes but I have come to the conclusion if I can at least fertilize with a bottle of something would be better than not doing any at all. I know some gardeners shutter at Miracle Grow but that is the easiest for me, so I am going to try and change my ways. Time release on like ee's and a lot of tropicals that need more fertilizer I just don't know how much to use.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

I know this sounds horrible, but I actually had the house to myself last night and it was just MARVELOUS....rofl. Don't get me wrong I love my DH, but I had the biggest part of the evening home alone well sort of the basset hound was there....(all he does is sleep). I fixed my favorite snack dinner, sat down and fired up my work computer and got some stuff done while watching tv. It is strange I don't do anything different when he is there than when he isn't but something about some alone time revives my soul.

Frost warnings out for tonight... ;(

Went to a great craft show in Warsaw Mo over the weekend with friends and we had a great time. Some beautiful stuff I could of spent a lot of money if I would of had a lot of money..rofl. I did buy a Christmas present for one of my friends (she was with us but I told her I was buying it for me) I will have to take a pic, it is a bird holding a flower pot made out of old rusty rebar and metal, we both love that stuff. Also bought but don't know how to explain it, but is like a long pin with jewels on it that you put on your sleeves and it holds them up and it doesn't poke holes in the material or anything pretty cool. I am sort of short and my cuffs are always WAY too long. One of my friends bought a beautiful bracelet made out of spoons, one of the prettiest ones I have seen. Then we stopped at antique junk stores and I got a bargain! Those round green rings that hold floppy flowers up like peonies. I forget how many were in a bag but a bunch for 5.00! Anyway had a great time but it is always amazing how much money will disappear on 'nothing' food, junk food, candy, kettle corn...rofl. All the necessities! Yes we ate our way thru the craft show...LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

You need to post pictures!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I agree with LK. You know how we love photos. :)
