i love the cats calw, and really glad to see your proud poppa and family, Suz.
Your gardens are beautiful kiseta.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Oh gosh what great pictures everyone. Such beautiful plants. About all I have blooming are roses which is still strange. My ginger is done blooming.

Susie DH would love your new babies...rofl. He is still working on our chicken pen. Improvement improvements...rofl. I found a feeder that you make with pvc pipe on the web and it is working great. They can't make such a mess. Now to get him happy with the chicken waterer. Chickens aren't a problem but the ducks make a hughe mess.

Debra lets get our plants put up and safe and sound and meet some where and just ding dong around.

Hi guys just got back from the master gardener conference in springfield missouri and we had a great time! Learned alot, saw alot, and just had fun. Wish you all were there. Next year in September, the conference is in St. Louis and the year after is in good old Kansas city. You all need to come up.

If you ever wondered what takes place at one of these go to
http://www.missourimastergardener.org/#

it was amazing. Over 375 Master Gardeners from over 60 counties, representing over 46 chapters and six states (MO, AR, OK, IL, KS & TN) were registered. Think the total ended up like 423. I was on the bus with the two women from TN and they were so nice and so much fun. We took tours of gardens, and we took classes, I took how to probagate roses from my garden and even got to take roses home we did in class. Then I took Colors for your fall garden, Chickens in your garden, Bountiful Berries, Fruit trees A-Z and I got to bring home some Paw Paw fruit (have any of you ever had it?) very tropical but hardy in Missouri. There were I think about 16 classes to choose from. Went to Baker Creek Seed Company which was really nice, the largest heirloom seef company in the US, course I bought seeds, a couple of magazines, homemade cinnamon rolls and we ate in the diner which was amazing. http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/c/14/

Gosh I won't bore you with it all but it was just great and met some really nice people. Wish we could all met together for something like that. Oh the hotel was a paradise, where the indoor pool was were some of the largest tropical plants I had ever seen, they towered 3 stories high and each room had a patio. I shared a room with a friend so the price wasn't bad.

We will see how good I was at taking slips of the rose and then I bought home a grafting rose root stock and I am going to try to graft a rose onto it....will see...rofl. I think the slips might make it.

There were vendors there and the prices were really reasonable. I bought a shell shaped papercrete pot for 15.00, and a huge bag a daylilies for 10 can't remember the name but they are spiders I could barely carry it, and a bunch of small succulants from 1.00 to 5.00, and then at the end of the show she offered them at 50% off, alot of minature stuff that was reasonable. I could of spent a fortune. I did buy a really big desert rose, and even won one of the door prizes and it was a hyper tuffa pot full of succulants and Missouri rocks. They had a ton of stuff from vendors, a silent auction, you name it.

Well I am sure you can tell I had a really good time. Nothing but plants, food, and plant people for 3 full days.....so relaxing and so very nice.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wow. Sounds like you had a great trip. Any pictures?

Debra we need you over at http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1332043/#new about gardening tropicals in the basement. Go todays post.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Here is my today:
1. wake up and figure out the alarm did not go off (seems I ok'd an update to the OS on the phone and it did the update and then shut itself off).
2. Rushing around manage to slide down the stairs....into a pile at the bottom. I am sure that was a great look.
3. Finally get in the car, get stuck in a horrible traffic jam sitting still, going to call saying I will be late, only to find out the new OS will not let me use the phone! really?
4. Get to the front door right as both bosses arrive, you know I can't get away with anything, I have always been that way, so I don't even try, but have the hit the front door exactly at the same time they do....gimme a break!
5. Then figure out in my rushing around, falling down the stairs , getting stuck in traffic, and meeting the bosses, I forgot my purse! No ID, No money, No nothing, No nada......... So it's not friday the 13th, not a full moon, no planets aligned in improper spacing, just an ordinary day in my life.....rofl!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Goodness. I hate those kind of days. Hope your not hurt from the fall.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Tators, I am so sore from hauling tropicals in I can't figure out today if it was from skidding down the stairs or moving pots...rofl. No I am fine, geehz just an amazing day...rofl and it is only Wednesday, it is Wednesday right.... fingers crossed.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Now it is Thursday. Friday is almost here.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I had to bring my hibiscus tree in but it is still putting out beautiful double blossoms. I so hope to have a crepe myrtle when we move to TN.

Great grandson 4, rescued a kitty thrown out of a vehicle and named it Ducky Super Girl, changed after a vet visit to Ducky Super Boy.

Most appropriate from the urban dictionary.com:

congressing
October 1, 2013 Urban Word of the Day
Wasting time and energy. Being generally unproductive even though you have a lot of very important stuff to do.
Say your light bill is due by 5:00 PM or they're going to turn off your power. A friend comes by at 4:30 PM and sees you napping.. He'd say, "Dude, you better quit congressing and pay your power bill."

Or... you're just hanging out on Sunday morning and a friend calls and asks what you're doing. You'd reply, "Nothing man, I'm just congressing."

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Perfect.

Faye. Where are you?

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Too funny about Lucky Ducky everytime I take a stray cat to the vet I have to ask what it is...rofl. That is when I found out about Calico cats are like 85% girls because it has something to do with genes I think. Any way while talking to the vet it was really interesting but like sooo many facts any more I have memory over load. I need to get an additional memory upgrade..rofl.

Oh if you have pics of the hibiscus please post would love to see it.

Oh I have a fluffy just like yours actually about 13 of them .... rofl and they do love my garden! DH has taught the chickens to sit....I will have to get a pic of it, it is so funny.

Linkda Kay gotta say I love opening up this post and the first thing you see are those pretty flowers! and then when you scroll down there are just more and more.

Jokeanna what is the 3rd flower? That is beautiful and bet it is not hardy in my zone ;( wow you are an 8......

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Yes, love those morning glories. They are glorious indeed.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Ducky looks to be part Siamese, all white except for orange ears and tail.

I probably only have half a dozen more buds then done for this year. I really enjoy it though. My daughter gave it to me about three years ago for Mother's Day. It is a bear to haul in and out.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Yes, the 3rd pic is a spider lily (they call the naked lady here).
I also love the morning glories when you open this page.
Lucky Ducky Boy is a very cute name...lol We just took in a stray that was all tore up from a dog fight at least that's what the vet said...we call him Lucky also. Not sure what we are going to do with him now that he is healed up. I have 4 dogs of my own.
Beautiful hibiscus. LK I have 2 seeds of the Pride of Barbados can't wait till spring to plant it. Is that when I should plant them? Still very confused about when to plant things around here.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have never grown them from seed but what I have read now is the time to plant them in a pot for next spring. Keep it indoors till no more frost next year.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Hi Linda Kay and all of you dear ladies.
I'm almost never on Dave's or ATP because I'm so busy outside and when I get in, I'm so tired, I shower, then find the couch until about 10 then I get ready for bed. I tell you, this old woman is tired and achy now. ALL day I have been moving all those succulents from the patio into the sun room. Sounds simple enough, but so much involved, like spraying both plants and the plant stands down with the water hose, moving the plant stands inside, finding saucers for all the little ones, then arranging them so each one can have its fair share of sun. And by gosh the mess I make takes forever to clean up. Then, I have to clean the patio. Not quite done, but won't dread the rest of the job.
What's new?
Will try to be here more now since I'm almost finished enlarging the long side flower bed. Will finish as I get the ordered plants from Breck's and Springhill.
This is part of the job that has kept me so busy.
