I saw that on the news last night. I am a supporter of the HSUS and that made me feel really good. HSUS says they come to TN more than any other state. That doesn't make me feel so good but at least there is someone helping us work on the problems here. So I know donations benefit us here as well.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I just saw that in the news too. So sad people do things like that.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Add me to the exhausted list from reading Lanalika's list..not to mention having to deal with surgery in the middle of all the moving. Hope things improve quickly!

Not sure where to address this but my heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful Sistahs who were responsible for the beautiful tree I received when mom passed. It hold a very special place in my heart and will be the anchor in a special corner of my yard. Thank you are such small words for what I am actually feeling....love each and every one of you!

Had some rain tonight. You would know it would start raining after I had scheduled my yardman to come clean up the horrendous mess in the yard. The rains and high winds have done a great job of bring down tons of limbs....as usual.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear it means a lot to you Marion! hope it grows to give you lots of figs!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sent with so much love Marion. Hope it provides you with comfort....

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

what they said

Morning everyone!

Well, Dylan sure is growing fast. He got his first haircut last week, and he lost that baby face. he is 17 months old, and weighs 30 pounds!

Good morning!

LK, you know how to make me smile!! Yep, having Dylan grace this page. With those cheeks, he's such a cutie. I've seen little boys with long hair, but short hair is the way to go with his very blonde looks. Thanks LK.

(((((Marion))))) You're a very thoughtful and loving sistah to us all. Kindness and love will be repaid the same. I pray too that your sister Sue will find the courage to sort out her emotions, with new routines and learning to embrace the non-tangibles.. like memories. Thank God, she's not alone with just 4 walls.. the cats will help distract her grief.

Carole, HSUS needs more manpower to monitor cruelty like this. Good thing about the capture in Alabama, the laws there are much more strict than some states. These cretins, besides hefty fines, will face imprisonment for up to 10 years!

Sis Kathy, aren't you relieved it happened in Auburn? What an embarrassment to that college town.

Waving to Barb. Pretty sure you and Norm are finally over with unpacking!! Now you can sit back and enjoy your new home and REST your back .

Love to all on this beautiful Wednesday. I will be trying to finish up my birdhouse blocks today. Darn.. if it's not for meeting deadlines.... there'd be no excitements in my life!! Lolol!

Love the picture of the gingers. I had bought some just before going south and to my surprise they are doing really well. I have a spot that I hope will be perfect for them....they have been sitting in the area and thriving so I think it will work out just fine. I had some pineapple lilies bloom while I was gone. Kim said they were really nice so I am thinking of adding them to this special area.

Poured last night so I have my doubts about my lawn man showing up today. He needs to as the limbs are really piling up.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful ginger blooms Jaye!

PJ and or night gown swap

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Adorable children, LK, and beautiful gingers, Jaye. What a treat!

I agree, cretins and morons!!! They deserve everything they get, IMHO.

Took these a little earlier today.

Those are beautiful, love the colors!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thank you. :)

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I wish I had something blooming to take pictures of.......guess I was away when everything had blooms. Oh well, would do it all over again.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

You were definitely where you needed to be, Marion.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Beautiful "Black Beauty" lilium, Carole!
Asatics and Orientals tend to point towards heaven, but liliums of the turk caps variety point downwards. They all smell so good though..
Love that garden art too. Are they made of bent spades or spoons, for the blades.

Marion, the funny thing about plants, somehow they're in sync with our lives' happenings.
I notice that when my life is in a turmoil, my plants don't put out blooms as much as I want them to. So, maybe next year, with things settling down for you, would be your turn to start bragging on your blooms. For now, we're happy to share.

Little detour from trying to complete my blocks. Need another pair of hands when Kel's home.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Sad.. just learnt that Linda Ronstadt won't be singing again. Parkinson's affected her voice.

Also just heard that Jackie Chan just passed.

This is a rumor going around, he did not pass away!

Anyone heard from Kathy this afternoon?

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

I be home now

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Okay, you bee home but you be okay?

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

i'm ok now. was having either heart or esophagis spasms. they don't know which. first in in court, before I get to see the judge, i'm being swept out the door on a guerny to a waiting ambulance, all the time screaming, don't let them tow my car.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad your OK Kathy, please take care! Hope they did not tow your car!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Poor you sis Kathy!
Yah, I hope your car's not towed away. If it is, the county should make an exception with proof that you're rushed to the hospital.
Hope the court reschedule your meeting with the judge, and may you never, never go through any spasms again. ((((((HUGS))))))))

Morning LK! How's my Texas sis today? Are you still doing a QOV?

I had finished a few birdhouse blocks, gonna mail them out, except Thunder's.. If you're lurking.. yours will be late. Had been ripping your original block and fixing to do another.

Big relief that I had finished 5 out of 6! Whew.
Barb, mine is very simple unlike yours. But I hope it has a place in your intended project.

Haven't seen Cody nor Pegi for a few days. Pegi's hair is already short, hope Darwin's not making her lose any! Lol!!

This is the time when the birds are fattening up for winter. Cookie would be refilling the birdfeeders often now.

I'll be back in a few. Hard to wake up sleeping beauty unless I place a warm pizza under his nose!!

Have a terrific Thursday sistahs.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, I am still working on it, but one of the blocks has a paper pieced star, and I just can't figure it out to save my soul. So it has been in the back room in a bag. I guess I need to get it out and try again. I need to get my fabrics out for the birdhouse blocks too!
I will be gone tomorrow. Going to San Antonio for my mammogram, then a shot in my hip! And of course hobby lobby and Joan's! I will be back Saturday sometime!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I shall be attempting a paper piece block soon, LK. No matter how many times I read the instruction, my mind can't do mirror image!! Lol!!
Must overcome that fear, if I don't want to be left behind.

Good luck tomorrow, and if you're going to eat somewhere good, have a great dessert for me please. I'm tired of snacking on cardboard (rice crackers).

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I had the same fear Jaye but kept working with very basic patterns and finally it got through this thick skull of mine. Love it now.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

thanks for the encouragement Marion.
Since I can't be using my legs for walking nor driving, think I'll fix Thunder's block today and paper piece a very simple pattern.
Just have to remember to work in reverse. How hard can that be?
:*(

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh if we had several hours just to discuss the mistakes I made before figuring it out. My biggest problem was cutting the wrong side off.....big oops!!! Just keep at it and it will all fall into place.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

thankfully they did not tow my truck
Sammy is very sisk. doc says it tracheal bronchitis, cuz he don't know what else to call it. Sammy was dog 25 that hes treated. there were 10 more in the waiting room when I left, coughing just loke sammy

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Jaye is the problem with the direction because you are left handed? My mom once taught a left hander to knit by sitting in front of a mirror and having the person watch in the mirror not her. If that's the problem, maybe you can do that and it will make more sense.

I'm also starting to show the effects of diabetic neuropathy, Dr insists on doing other tests on my veins and such looking for blockages. She even made an appointment with a surgeon before all the tests were done. I then had to cancel the appt. as there were "no significant blockages". Haven't seen her since and not scheduled to until Dec. I really am unhappy with the care I'm getting. She's more concerned about booking me for tests than listening to what is really bothering me. Also when I'm sick and need an appt. I'm told to go the urgent care as their office has nothing available...only 8 Drs. in that practice. Went to urgent care and was mis-diagnosed and given wrong meds by a PA. Finally got better on my own but took over 3 weeks. Now I'm so worn out and have no stamina, Keep trying to do more but it's difficult. I'd change Drs. but I had a hard time finding one who was even accepting new patients when we moved up here.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Doctors love to do tests, LOTS of tests! I find myself more concerned by DH's health than my own. His PSA went up a point, thinking the chemo isn't doing much right now. Just had another treatment so hoping that will be OK. I have neuropathy in my feet and this morning I had a pair of blue socks on and DH said no wonder my feet hurt, they are all blue. He never stops with the jokes. Walked to the library this morning, hoping to beat the heat, to pick up a couple books. It wasn't that hot, but is supposed to get into high 80's or low 90's. My garden is suffering because I just can't get out there to work. Not a cloud in the sky today, would love to see some rain clouds.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh my!! Karen you made me laugh so hard that my cats scattered to hide anywhere they think mama couldn't get to!!!
ROFL!!! I'm right handed, but I think I may be leaning towards a left thinking brain, maybe that's why I can't think in reverse!!!
Pssst.. I'm just dense.. that's all ;)

My doctor loves me.. he'd ask me what's my bank balance before he suggest a lab test!! Lolol.. yep.. that's bad! Not having any insurance may be a good thing!
But I know, the minute Medicare kicks in, he'd be happily making all sorts of unnecessary appointments.

There you are Pegi. I know you give thanks each time Darwin cracks a 'flatline' joke like that. Darwin certainly needs his humor to keep himself going. I recall the days you worried when he became all sullen and gloomy and you pray that he'd be back to his sarcastic self.
There he is!!

Sis Kathy, at the vet, it's mostly cats. URIs are bad with the rains and rising humidity.
Hope Sammy gets better soon.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hoping Sammy gets better too.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Me too. ♥

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Me three.

Went to Bainbridge this afternoon for a haircut. Good thing I did as Kim's car had a belt break and had to be towed to a garage. Oh my the beanie of being a teacher and having taught most everyone in town. The young man could not have been nicer and more helpful to Kim.

Had dinner at San Marcos and thought of you Jaye. Oh it was so good or maybe I hadn't had any Mexican food for a while and it tasted even better. Once again, they know Kim and one waiter was asking if she could direct him to the proper places to start work on more English classes and finally getting his GED. Once again, the joys of teaching in a small town.

Think I will be going to bed earlier tonight and read some of the magazines that arrived over the past 5 weeks.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

DH always tells doctors and nurses they will never be able to remove his sense of humor. He usually can keep the nurses laughing.

Picked a few ripe tomatoes off my plants, set them down and of course forget to bring them in. So II better go out and try and remember why I went out in in back. Brown tomatoes?? never heard of them, think I will stick to the red ones. We have some small yellow tomatoes, little bigger than a cherry tomato, that are really good. Will probably plant those again next year.

My humming birds, only have 2 that come around, must have found a better sourse of necter because they aren't coming by very often. Don't they realize I bought a bag of sugar just to feed them. LOL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

More like bonuses, Marion, for Kim. She must have an outstanding personality to be thought of so highly by her former students. Can see you beaming from ear to ear.
I never thought I'd love Mexican food till I came here. Big difference from Tex Mex and Taco Bell :(
If there's nothing else that Kel brought into our relationship, at least he introduced me to real Mexican fare!

Those ungrateful hummers!! Lol Pegi.
Kumatoes are supposed to be sweet according to Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kumato
But not the ones I bought!
I love yellow cherry tomatoes. Haven't found any that is sweet in the grocery store.
You've reminded me that I need to use the home made tomato sauce soon. Baked a chicken today and Kel just helped himself to a breast. Think I'll just shred the rest and use it in a 'courtbouillon' Cajun style.

Just finished sewing some a couple of 'finger towels' as Lanakila calls them! They go in a swap box. I just love lots of utility kitchen towels around the house, don't you?
Of course, they're done after I had tackled Thunder's birdhouse block.
Whew.. 6 done!! I'm glad I didn't commit myself to 12.

Project Runway's calling me.
Good night sistahs.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

I have been up with sam all nite. now I have to take him to get his sugars tested. all he has had to drink since yesterday isw 10 teaspoons of water by srynge that I have to fight with him to drink, time to get gatorade

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning sistahs.

Carole, you must be keeping regular sleeping hours.

Sis Kathy, I tried calling.. guess you've left.
Gatorade shouldn't be given to any with diabetes. That's what sent me to the hospital when the plant was giving out Gatorade 3 times a day to replenish minerals lost in heat.
Just get the sugar free kind or plain Pedialyte, if it's for Sammy.

Gonna try again make that trip to the P.O.
See you later.
