Sue, what happened to your MIL?

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Morning, all. Hope your week is a good one. >^-^<

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Almost 8 am and I am just getting up.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Afternoon sistahs.

Will make this short, as I have precisely 20 minutes before leaving for town again. Don't want you all to think that I've abscond this group.. like I'm notorious for not showing up at the other building!!
Lol!

I love Witches of Eastwick, Sue. Will have to rent that movie again!

Thanks Cookie. Kel says I have more than enough kitties to take her place, but Rudy's special.

Cool today Pegi but we'll be in the 90s again! Well then sistah, on behalf of Darwin, I THANK you for standing by him.

You too Carole. Mark of a strong wife when she CHOSE to honor her marital vows. If I'm not being too nosy, what ails your DH?

LK, was it a somber trip bringing the kids home? Do you have to make that detour again?

Welcome home Marion! A much longer stay at Sue's would make BobbieSox Kim's forever!
You must be glad to be back to old routine. Coffee by the lake.. sewing...telling your fabric stash how much you miss seeing them..

Wishing everyone a good Monday.. I'll be back this evening !

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No detour this time Jaye, but I was beginning to think I was not taking them home. When we made the arrangement for me to meet her to bring the kids back, we both said noon on Sunday. Saturday night when the kids were talking to her on the phone, and saying good night, I got the phone back, and said see you at noon. She said oh, I can't make it by then, it will be 4 or 5. I told her I will not do that, as I will not drive at night time. She said she could not make it earlier! So I called Andy and asked what I could do, the kids had to be back for school. He told me he would drive down, and get the kids, then get them back to her. So I sent her a text that Andy was going to meet me to get the kids, and she got all bent out of shape. She said she told me she would be there at 4, and again I told her that was too late. Well, I met Andy at 2, we had lunch at Applebee's, and Grandma got some snuggles from Dylan and MaryAnne, and I was home by 4.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

y'all really need to leave a trail of bread crumbs for me. I just now found you.
linda, now they want a pelvic ct scan. the orthopedic is releasing me to my family dr., cuz he don't know whats wrong. they charge thousands, and then say sorry, we have no answers

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Jaye, he was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson's Disease about 20 years ago.

We haven't seen the oldest cat in about 24 hours. He is a tom but usually doesn't wander away for any length of time. Please say a little prayer that he's okay. Thank you.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sending prayers that your cat comes ome soon!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I ate the bread crumbs as I beez veary hongry!!! My sister doesn't cook and unless I bought groceries it was mostly flakes for dinner. So you see I found the bread crumbs and they be looking so good, I scraffed them up...Sorry Kathy.

Yes, it is very good to be home. I am still very tired but it will take a few more days before I get over everything.......longer to get pass mom's passing. I know she is better but it doesn't stop the hurt.

When I went to make coffee this morning I did have this wonderful sense of calm looking out at the lake. It was early and there were several birds flying around and it was just a serene place. I am going to enjoy getting back into the habit of drinking my coffee and watching the activity around the lake in the early morning. Was nice and crispy this morning....in the 60s.

Oh believe I am going to take out every scrap of fabric I own and love every piece......well provided BobbiSox allows me to. What an imp!! There are times I think there must be atleast 6 of her!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thank you, Linda.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

so glad your settling back in marion. and glad to have you back

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I am glad to be back....n ow starting to concentrate on the 2014 get together......oh the trouble.............

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

He just came back. Whew! What a relief. Thanks again.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Glad to hear your kitty came home.

Kathy, now you know this group can't get together without finding a little trouble to get into....well maybe not. Rest and relaxation sounds good to me!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

trouble sounds better to me

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

What happens in the mountains stays in the mountains! !!!

Glad your kitty is back home.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thanks, Marion and LK. We love our kitties and can't stand it if we don't know where one is. >^-^<

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LK, at least you stood your ground. Beggars can't be choosers, and Andy's willing to help, your DIL should be thankful. It's been ages since I stepped in Applebees. Love their blooming onions and I wonder if they still offer spinach dip.

Marion, I don't think your grandaughters will allow you to be fully rested. Thank God school's started, if not they won't wait for the weekend to come around!

Praise God kitty's home! I go into panic mode too if one's missing!
Carole, if not for Michael J. Fox, I wouldn't know of Parkinson's disease. So much complications, not just motor movements. Is your DH on any meds to slow this down?
((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((GIANT HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Sis Kathy, call me first thing in the morning when you wake up. Want to make sure you're not lost in your home!! Lolol!!

Anyone ever had those brown tomatoes called "Kumato"? I did today. It's tangy and meaty but lacking in some sweetness of a 100 percent tomato. Had that with avocado and red cabbage.
Kel didn't care for them. Guess they'll be in the soup pot tomorrow!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

tried calling you a little bit ago

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye the spinach dip has been gone for several years now they have some pretzel sticks that come with melted cheese for dipping. Yum!!!
Never had those tomatoes before.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

good morning

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Morning, Kathy and all.

Jaye, he has been on some medication or the other since diagnosed. Actually, it has progressed fairly slowly all things considered - 20+ years and they say people have had the disease for years by the time symptoms appear and they are diagnosed. When we look back, we can see that. He is 65 and somewhere the natural aging process kicks in. We've used a lot in the way of nutrition to combat the disease and that has helped tremendously.

Bloomin' onions - yum!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

bout time someone else is up

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Whatcha mean "bout time someone else is up"!! I is up!!

Right about now I am thinking about shipping a small black and white either north or south! I don't think this thing ever sleeps....play, play, play then play some more!

Carole sorry to hear that your hubby (and you) are dealing with Parkinson's. Hugs coming from the south for you both.

Jaye, I, too, love the spinach dip. Yummy but right now Applebee's and McDonald are NOT on my to go list. My sister only eats at those 2 place and shall we say...I ready for some Cuban or Mexican food at this point.

Going to try to start the "digging" out process today.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

When I'm in TN, Brody's kitty, "Ducky" seems to think I'm his play toy all night. He sits on me and pats my chin...must like the hair growing there. LOL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning .. afternoon..
feeling kinda weak today. Woke up in the middle of the night choking. I think it's bad acid reflux and not sleep aepnea. Somehow my pile of pillows got away from me.
It was scary. I may have to lay the pillows under the memory foam to ensure they aren't going anywhere.

Karen, you make me laugh gal!! I'm sure it's just some lint that Ducky's trying to get rid off your chin!
Rudy would touch my lips if I'm talking on the phone.

Marion, you know cats sleep all day so they could harrass us all night!

Oops phone call.. brb

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'm so glad that diet works for your DH. Carole. In fact proper nutrition should help combat afflictions, unless a necessary organ isn't functioning right.
65 is still a young age, the new 40.

Marion, Kel stayed away from Mickey D. That's a big relief for me.
There's another Mexican restaurant (add that to the 3 great ones) and it serves the BEST Menudo.
That new so-call Mexican restaurant in this town that serves pseudo Mexican food.. it's gaining more notoriety. Diners are now more aware of what real Mexican food should taste! Even though I live in a small hick town.. the younger hicks are more exposed to international cuisine.
Imagine walking into a Mexican place and not one employee speaks Spanish and all are whites?

Gonna wake up sleeping beauty.. have a fantastic Tuesday everyone. Lanakila, I know you are already getting use to your new work environment.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thank you, Marion. Hugs received. :)

Diet has helped DH but he still has a lot of symptoms. They fluctuate, change and come and go.

Mexican restaurant with no Hispanics? :-D))) Oh, I love good Mexican food. Our years in So. Cal set a high standard. I like some Tex-Mex if it's high quality, but only if it is.

Hummingbird antics in the backyard yesterday. Just love to watch them. They come to the feeder to get up close and personal when I'm out there. Lots of fun. :)

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

I HAVE 5 FEEDERS OUT AND THEY STILL FIGHT

I have feeders on the front and back to give more a chance. still we have the wars. I found a great feeder at Walmart, very tiny slits so the bees cannot get in but Hummers can still eat. Was only $2.88, sadly they only had one, would change them all out to foil the bees and wasps.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

They are sooooo territorial. :/

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

For 2 years we don't see any hummers even though I faithfully put out the feeders.

This year, I did see a green one!! Got all excited and woke up Kel to prove to him that I didn't put out the feeders in vain. Unfortunately, it was gone by the time Kel trudged to the door.
The next morning, Rudy died.

Looking back, Rudy had 2 angels. The hummingbird and the cricket.

I must remind myself to be grateful that I have a job.

The work saga, abridged: new boss, surgery, travel, change job & new boss, move offices, change job & new boss (again!), interview, travel, interview, what’s my job again?

June 27: See a new doctor about something pesky, find out you need surgery.

July 1: New Boss
For the last 5 years I've worked as the graduate student secretary (aka Den Mother) for the department of genetics at our local university. It is a very close-knit department which made it the envy of other departments on the campus. A year ago, the University decided to combine a bunch of departments into one larger department. Despite the nearly universal hope that our current department head would take on the new, larger department, it was not to be. He was recruited to another institution in another state. We are thrilled for him, sad for us. Six other folks were asked to lead the new department. No one wanted anything to do with it because it is the logistical nightmare that you might imagine. The Dean of the College appointed his right-hand man to serve as interim for the first year. The new boss knows that he's a temp, so he's not really doing much. Since all of the groups are now in one large group, no one seems to know what I'll be doing for whom. Meanwhile, I just keep doing the same things until they decide.

July 16: Surgery w/2 weeks away from the office. Maybe they'll figure out what my new role will be in the new department. Meanwhile, do as much of the same work as is possible from home.

July 29: Return to office. Put out as many fires as possible then travel to a conference. Oh, and still "filling in" because no one knows what my new role is.

August 9: Welcome back! Pack your office, we are moving you to another building; far away from any students you might be serving. You'll need to be packed up and moved out before you leave for your conference next week. Oh, and we think you'll no longer be doing anything you've been doing, so we're going to have you do 'A' for Jane.

August 14: Job interview. Time to hedge my bets. After the interview; not a job I want.

August 15: Travel to conference. Continue doing old job while waiting to hear what I'll be doing for Jane. Meet Jim.

August 19: Office is moved, but not at all set up. What a mess! Hey, why don't we change your job to 'B' and have you work for Jim?

August 23: Slowly unpacking the office, but having trouble deciding what needs to stay or go, and where things that are staying should be. Asked Jim. He doesn't know what his job is, so he can't tell me what my job is. For now, let's have you do your old job PLUS 'A' PLUS 'B', and we'll see if we can't figure out how to narrow that down next week.

Today: Somewhat unpacked. Still pretty directionless. Still doing whatever folks hand me while they say "I don't know who is supposed to get these...."

Thursday: Another interview.

Stay tuned

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Whew, Lanakila, I'm tired just reading that. I know you must be. Hopefully something will work out soon.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I was once in a similar situation, job wise.
HQ of the company I was working for, lured by NAFTA, decided to venture overseas. Branches in MS and Al. were shut down and those senior dept. managers were transferred to the few plants in operation, including mine.
So to make room for these managers, me and a 6 others with less seniority were dumped in the "reassignment" pool.
My male colleagues were reassigned quickly to available posts befitting of their qualifications. Me, the sole female was shuffled from dept. to dept. pushing or stapling papers.. even once acted as a courier. Hey, I don't mind, great pay just to staple and organize files and drive the company car.
Have to admit though, I get stares from those who were my subordinates and especially clerks that I had to deal with when in management. Made me uncomfortable for a while, but with God's help, my pride took a back seat. Like you Lanakila, I was grateful to be working.
It wasn't till 4 months later, when a new dept. was set up, and I was considered for the lead post.

Wishing you the best for your Thursday interview, Lanakila!

LK.. are you around?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am here. Just got back from getting my nails done and a few groceries.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

That's nice LK. We all need a good pampering now and then.

Sistahs.. when I think Michael Vick's case had exposed public's intolerance towards animal abuse..
Yet, dog fights for profit still continues.
