I’ve been away for almost two weeks now. Lots going on but I thought that it was time to pop in and let everyone know I’m still kicking. The work saga, abridged: new boss, surgery, travel, change job & new boss, move offices, change job & new boss (again!), interview, travel, interview, what’s my job again? This has all happened since July 1st. I’m thankful I have a job, but I think I’m going to have a nervous breakdown before it’s all said and done. I’ll give the unabridged version some other time, k?
For now I’m on a hit list for being two weeks late on a swap…and not communicating with the swap leader. My bad. Really, really bad. My husband is a really mellow guy, but even he declared tonight “I don’t get any interaction” as I shooed him out of the kitchen. The garden is overgrown, the laundry hasn’t been done in two weeks, and I have two sewing commissions that are coming due. Calgon, take me away!
Hello To All !
Thanks much much for filling me in! All I know of TJ's is what I've heard and what I see on you tube.
Sharon I absolutely LOVE the 5-10 scoop idea and may 'steal' that one... (HUGS) can you find me the name of that gelato shop? I may look for their website or try to call them....what a great idea the 'sampler'
Silio... thanks much too... our TJ's is projected to open 10/31 first one in Louisiana... I'll be looking for the oat bread and frozen food...
Marilyn... HUGS for lorna... scallop creole I've never heard of and I LOVE Scallops and LOVE creole...
Lana - you need a BREAK !
Will check back later all
Mary
You have all been so busy....I am not exhausted! HOW do you do it?
It seems we have been running here non stop and DD not having a car, is wearing
me out. I can't let her drive ours....and I won't!
Have a great evening
Debbie
Morning all,
Lanakila, Lordy you have been one busy lady, even I couldn't keep up to that schedule..
Will be nice for you to get back into your routine! Yikes must be bad if hubby noticed. Lol
I'm sure your swap buddy understands,,I'm in trouble with my last swap as well, not late yet but got mixed up with name and made/bought things that fit my swap partner to a 't' only to find out I've the wrong name so must start fresh..hoping to have my box out Monday.
Cody, is Alex liking his classes..not a new school right? So with a weekend on your own what shall you do? I know, worry...
Katie, thoughts and prayers are with you, here is hoping you and Tony aren't working in this heat but just outing around.
Debbie, sorry to hear you are exhausted re playing taxi, guess you had a lot to do settling the accident. Thought I might take a run stateside next Sunday..Linda and Dave have the vet coming this aft at 5pm to send Lasha over the Rainbow Bridge and maybe a little jaunt will do her good and be company for me on the drive...have to see
Calling for a sunshine weekend..can't beat that!
"M" what a scare re Lorna, glad testing came back ok..no waiting weeks for testing, shows how concerned they were..Great recovery, just a tad more to go and this past year of being bedridden will be but a memory.
Karen I've only been to Trader Joe's once when I was at Johce's, was impressed..spend the morning just looking around (Joyce it was Trader Joe's right?). Any more viewing the house, know you so wanted to be south this coming winter.
Barb, is it a sew day for you..you mentioned last week that Nirm will be on holidays this upcoming week, sure hooe he can get some R and R in.
Linda Kay, kids still with you?
Sharon, what a great suggestion for Mary, can see her mind just a going, something I'd try tasting as well regardless of the up cost, that way I would not have bought a large bowl of lemon..lol. Feeling better today? Difficult ridding oneself of a summer chest cold. 105. Yikes, I'll take my snow..
Under the weather yesterday, in bed, Greg dropped in last night and I shooo'ed him away..was going to say it will be a pj day but need a few fpgroceries so will run into town now then no other commitments for rest of the weekend..that is unless I feel guilty about not going to the CNE to see my niece sing.
Kyle came the night before and spend 3 hours, not sure if it was to visit with me or to show off his new pen .. The pen I think is called 'livescript'. $299.00 and does everything..much too technical for me..am sure it will help him to take notes as it is computerized and a recorder...kid, they sure live their toys.
Caleb's birthday today, have to track him down..Jeff said he's grown over the summer, will tower over the other grandsons, the testing that was done years ago said he'd be 6'4" and he is well on his way..I am soooo glad all didn't take after grandma's side of the family, 5' at best
Better run to the grocery stores need a coffee and only sour milk..got to learn not to buy the 3 bag pouches and get a quart, always throwing milk out
Morning everyone!
Betty, sorry to hear your not feeling well! Hope you get lots of rest this week end!
I take the kids back home Sunday, as they start school Monday!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OU_RKv5zemM
Is this the pen that Kyle has? That is some kind of fancy one for sure! Hope he does not lose it!
Good Morning. Strange we had a couple inquiries yesterday. One from a neighbor across the lake. We have a nice hard sand beach on our end of the lake and they are on the mucky cove. He said his wife has been bugging him to come talk to us. They have come by in their kayaks several times.
We have quite a bit of company right now. Three friends of my youngest son are working construction in the area so are staying here to save motel money. Just sleeping here and still paying us a bit. Grandson Bob and his daughter Amelia are here for another week then we take them back to TN next week. Sure gonna miss them especially Amelia. She just turned one and keeps constantly amused. Son Steve and nearly son Barney are also here for a long week-end.
Granddaughter called last night, she and two kids might be coming up too. Sadly she has to hide the kids for a while at the suggestion of CPS. Three year old Sweet Caroline has made alarming charges about her dad. Seems they were confirmed at the hospital. Damn Damn Damn Dad is not aware as yet he will be investigated.
WOW,Silio you sure do have more than a passle of people there with you ..
Am so glad Caroline DID say something. I can only imagine the fallout from revelation is going to be tough on everyone.
HUGE hugs to you for sure.
Betty, is it a cold you have? Uggg , horrid time of year to have one, but, guesss what? I 'think' I have one on the 'brew' :-(
Doing a lot of sneezing, Gord thinks it's allergies .. married all these years and he should know I'm not allergy prone .. I can stand in and walk through pollen dust (and have) with no problem, but, I guess one never knows .. hmmmmm .. would prefer allergies to a week long head cold !!
Must eat an orange with breakfast/brunch.
How is your neck/shoulders?
LindaK can imagine you'll miss the boys, but enjoy the freedom LoL. looking forward (or not) to our 'babysitting' our grands in Jan or Feb for a week, at their home .. am hoping our son a DinL have a good talk with them prior to their leaving, I sure do want the 2 kids to know there are ground rules to follow ... am SO hoping out granddaughter (15) has 'fallen OUT of love' with her boyfriend by then, perhaps thinking on entering a nunnery LOL
GELATO .. yumm yumm .. and, YES, very flavourful "BAM in the mouth" !! I had a LARGE lime gelato cone ONCE .. man .. talk about heartburn !! BUT, I couldn't stop eating it LoL
Have a good friend heading from Calgary to Montreal to sit with her sister in Hospice there .. her sis just turned 64 and was diagnosed with throat cancer, has had treatments, but, that brutal fiend cancer has moved on to her lungs and liver, and, Carol is now Palliative Care.
Thoughts and prayers for Carol and the family appreciated.
Betty .. how sad re Linda and Lasha .. hugs for all there.
Murray (DS) is just about 6'5" .. I feel like a midge beside him and I'm 5'7"!!
That is quite the 'pen' . Might have to look one up :-)
Scallop Creole was dead easy to make, not at all like the shrimp creole I SLAVE over with making a roux .. I betcha it took me 20 minutes start to finish!
Poached eggs on the brunch menu, best get at it, takes me awhile :-)
TOODLES
~M~
Oh Karen, so sorry to hear that sad news! I hope he is prosecuted to the fullest!
Enjoy your visit with all those kids and Grand kids!
Sending lots of prayers for Carol!
Keeping your granddaughter and her family in my prayers Karen. What a nightmare for them.
Hoping there may be a sale for you though.....
Sounds like Kyle is really into the toys. Imagine a pen that does all that! I'd be afraid of him losing it too....
Sorry to hear about your friend "M" - I will keep her in my prayers as well.
Meant to add that I won't be sewing at least until next week. Still have many boxes to go through once again as we brought way too much stuff with us!!!

Karen, that is sad news indeed, what an ordeal for such a little angel to go through..glad they are taking no chances and are investigating..can't imagine how you are all feeling..spendng warm hugs and prayers as I know you are ALL hurting.
full house indeed, bet you are loving it, with kids returning to school shortly likely last chance until thanksgiving to see them.
Now wouldn't that be something if your neighbors wanted to relocate to your property..answer to prayers for sure.
"M" know a lot of people in later years develop allergies, hope it's not thigh. Do you have this gorgeous fall weather..most favorite time of year! More so when I lived on the lake..cottagers would head home, kids back in school, seemed I had my corner of the world just for me.
Dianne, you must feel the same. Has the lake been quiet? Seems Trent boat traffic down quite a bit..no wonder, up'd fees and shortened hours
Jean, Suzanne called me last night, we went on and saw the sinkhole in your area (likely hour away?). Imagine, over 700' deep and over 24 acres..I thought it might be near Laura Platation I visited last year??? Wow, seems they think it's Texas Salt men's excavation causing gases, the sinkhole hiccups and takes more acreage.
Flu like symptoms..nauseated and no didn't eat anything at the CNE (over 100 with food poisoning)
Feeling somewhat better, at least early this a.m. Should for the amount of sleep I've had yesterday.
Been outside all morning, Carla at the store was outside, guess she saw me cutting grass with rider with telephone to my ear, she was laughing, told her no I wasn't gabbing but needed to take calls today and not sure I'd hear the ring so cut while holding it next to my ear. Need to do trimming and some cutting with push mower but that can wait till this evening.
Gorgeous day out there, shout off a/c and opened every window..spend 2 hours dadheading and I've worked up a sweat so will sit for a bit and return to cutting down spend flowers..pit is about 3ft high with spent greenery..then I came in to put the lawnmower key away, already lost one..no key, was on a tag that had a quilt block made as key ring, bright orange, easy to see, not, so on a hunt I went..cleaned the kitchen area in secret garden, thought I left it there..moved the mushrooms from under apple tree, thought o set them down there, nope, washed the table in the sitting area near big frame, not there..where oh where could they be.. Pulled most of the greenery out of the firepit and there sat the keys. Best I buy one of those coils, put the key to one end of it and the other attached to my wrist..sooo careless. While emptying the pit a dog, ran to me growling..frightened me a bit, I stood still, off it went to do its business then back to growl, could see Missy hidding, dog then heard its master and off running it went.
Would be nice to get yard work done so I can just litter patter all weekend long..want to quilt a few hours here and there..work with stained glass, put a swap box together..means I have to get my act together this afternoon.
Did do 10 Christmas balls with scene of my Georgian Bay, could include some of those. Lol
Not really themed for the 'thoughts of you' swap, hard when you do not know the person.
Break over..off to cut more spent flowers/greenery
Drats, had hoped you would be sewing Barb..know you are anxious to do so..
Was telling Ann all about yur coloring book totes you've donated, want to do something so Ann is getting info on specifics for flannel rag quilts needed to cover incubators at Mount Siani and Toronto Sick Kids hospital..girls and I will make some for them..your generosity is rubbing off..time to make a little difference. Do you still have much to move?
Yes, Kyle thinks the pen is the cats meow..says when his teacher starts concpversation he types first word, then types last word and everything said between the two words is on file..I asked about how much memory it has, he said more than my iPad.
Called Caleb to wish him happy birthday, didn't answer so I will keep trying. In the meantime Jeff said he will text him and have him call me..
Sure hope your feeling better soon Betty. I think you just did too much on your USA trip, and your body is telling you to slow down and get some rest!
LOL! I can just see you on the ridding lawnmower, with phone stuck to your ear!
Jody, am fine..something going round. Suzanne's SIL who lives with her was home 2 days, guess she passed it on to me.
Glad Alex is enjoying it..is he on the new system where he only goes six or eight weeks then a few weeks off
Betty, WHERE do you get all your ENERGY??!!
My energy has packed up and taken a very long vacation (it'll be a year in October) SOME of it is filtering back, but, OH so slowly.
PLEASEA, slow down and take care.
As for the lost key, OMG, my BP is rising re that .. LoL .. I am a real 'KEY MISPLACER', has gotten to the point where I leave the keys to the SUV in it in a cubbyhole .. no worries re someone taking the care, unless the deer or bears want to take the Fox and Wolf to town ahaha .. if they did, there'd be 2 yappy wee Westies after'em!!!
Poached eggs were SO good .. DH bought a NEW poacher, our old one made making the poached eggs an ordeal as the teflon coating was gonezo, so, they stuck a bit, this new one is too awesome, eggs came out wonderfully well ..
Happy BDay to Caleb :-)
What a generous offering to the NNICU re the flannel coverlets .. dang, i wish I could sew, my 98 year old Auntie still knits 'lap covers' for the Hospice patients, keeps her busy. She used to knit 'going home' outfits, but has let that go now.
Everyone seems so busy with family and moving and new jobs .. I am heading outside to PERHAPS deadhead some flowers, I'm not supposed to bend or twist .. maybe I'll just watch the Hummingbirds race around the feeders, squeaking away at one another .. how we don't get it is anyones best guess !!!
YES Betty, beautiful fall(ish) day here .. going to hit 80F, maybe a bit more ..
Take care all ..

About the same here "M" and I'm truly enjoying!
Guess the difference is I'm on my own so if I don't do it who will? All I've done isn't too strenuous just time consuming and seeing I have to be home for phones might as well make myself have a productive day.
Normally I keep the seed but for the past two years I've deadheaded, packaged seed and put them somewhere safe, never to be found again..kids tell me I'm the worse with key and purse..should the minute I take the key out of ignition walk directly to the house and hang it up, no stopping along the way and just to be safe, next time I'm in Midland am going to have 2 or 3 made. Lol
Fantastic your Aunt is still able to make coverlets..gives her a goal each day.
Rough mornimg, bent down to deadhead, didn't see metal art leaf of flower, hit my forehead,
Did same second time, got metal flower deep into chest between boobs, ouch..then was racing around the years, driving with one hand, went to cut under limb, yikes got branches digging into my arm, bleeding, shaking my head, am an accident waiting to happen..decided to quilt a bit, thankfully the Saphire 835 is working well or I'd not be happy..
Omg, my crab apple tree is so heavy with apples that branches are on the ground..should make jelly right?
DGD and babes are on their way here, safe haven. Dad would never dare to come here even if he figured where they are, four family men here too.
Everyone needs a safe haven, thank goodness for you and DH!
Just mind boggling how it's not always strangers one has to teach children to beware of..
Worked in the gardens a bit more, June dropped n for a chat, she has a new grandson, had to see photo's.
Waiting for 3pm then off for stained glass supplies..need24 bevels for Suzanne's Christmas gift, foil and solder..I'm trying to get all done by October, not waiting for December to come and panick or work myself silly...I've got a plan. Lol
So relaxing sitting here on back deck, not sure why I don't do it more often..I've a tv tray, was thinking I've 3 or 4 wooden country apple/knife/tray to do, might be nice to set up a work area and when the mood hits me and seeing its screened in I could paint..thought never came to mind to JUST sit!
Am sure you are all the same, list as long as your arm of to do's
I am here late and still coughing but getting better.
We were actually below 100 degrees today and cloudy. Tomorrow and Sunday suppose to have rain. Tropical storm moisture coming South from Mexico. The West really needs it but I will believe it when I see it.
If I had the time back for all the time I spend looking for my gardening tools and keys I would have a lot of time in the bottle. I am forever burying a favorite tool while gardening and then digging around to find it. I usually garden on my butt or my hands and knees. So it is not easy to get up and look around. It is probably really comical seeing me get up. I tell my friends I need a hook in the sky so I can tie a rope to it to help me get up.
Marilyn, I tried to think, "Why do you go to Trader Jo's? Salt free chips and no salt added salsa is probably the main reason. And their cut flowers and orchid prices are very reasonable.
Betty, I purchase lactaid free milk because DH has lactose problems and I find it does not taste any different. And it last for weeks. I actually put canned whipping creme in my coffee. I have one cup a day and that is my treat.
I have no grass, so I have none to be mowed. I have dichondra in the back and it does not get high and I have clover in a small area in front. It has to be moved about every 4 weeks.
That is terrible about the husband abusing the child. I hope for both there is a mistake but it does not sound like that is likely.
Grandchildren are a blessing from God. They are so loving and fun. And this grandmother always make sure there are food surprises in the pantry, fridge or freezer. My mother taught me that. If she loved you, she fed you or at least made sure your favorite treats were around.
Well it is way past my bedtime. I go to bed early because I have two miniature German schnauzers that will be 2 on September 9th. They like to get up early. Then they go potty, come back in, insist I get up and join them in the back garden and then they go back to sleep by my feet. But then I get all that quiet time in the garden with the flowers and the birds.
The grocery shopping, garden and housecleaning is all done so nothing to do this weekend except to goof off. To bad I did not know how to do that.
Hugs to you all, Sharon
Sharon, your Schnauzers and my Westies must be part of an 'early risers club'! However, the PRESIDENT of said club would be our 19 year old cat SMOKEY who roams the hallway between the bedrooms, meowing and chirping at 6am!! Wakens the dogs (and everyone else) but, now that I am feeling better I get up to let him out as well as the dogs who immediately feel I must have gotten up to give THEM a TREAT LoL .. then, BOOM they're back to sleep and I am at odds with what to do.
This morning it's baking a loaf of cheese bread, and, with that said, I am off to do just that followed by a blueberry pie, DH stopped by the firehall for a visit yesterday and VOILA there were 2 3litre baskets of bberries, thankfully he only purchased ONE !!!
Enjoy your day everyone
Toodles
~M~
morning all,
seems some are up and at it..gorgeous morning out there, have a sweater on to get me through the morning chill...brrrr more to come I'm sure.
Sharon, you would have to be up early in order to work in the gardens with the heat you are experiencing..yep, fun weeding but when it comes time to get up off your knees you sure do feel your age..container gardening might be easier..hook in the sky sounds like an excellent idea..now how to do it Mom and Jim sure miss their schnauzer..talking about getting another, sure hope not..
"M" sure wish I could have some of your blackberries but these 'pretend' teeth the seeds do a number on me..wish you live closer, am sure you would do something with these crabapples..enjoy your baking today..sure nice to see you up and at it..
Had a visitor again last night..several hours of me sitting next to him (KYLE) showing me his new Apple tablet something or ever..seems he was able to negotiate with the sales agent re extended insurance..from $300 to $200, discounted $20 off carrying case and $100 off computer..gee whiz, next time I'm going shopping Kyle is coming with me..had to see everything it does that a regular laptop does not..nice visit but I was ready for bed when he left.
so quiet at 6pm in the garden, pulled out massive growth of plants, was just going to move a piece of metal art when something shinny caught my eye..omg it's was the blackberry telephone that the young man who decided my back deck was the place to set his weary head had lost..not so sure it can be used after it has been sitting out in the elements..will drop it off this morning on my way to stained glass studio at 10am.
After saying this weekend is a play weekend for me, all cleaned up outside and inside, mom just called, seems I promised to go over to the cottage for the morning, ooops, was thrilled when she asked if I would come next weekend instead..she has had a procedure in her throat done yesterday and she is still under the weather...ok with me.
so now I can go from one project to the other..doing a 'use what is left over' window hanging for Suzanne/Lenny, have it set out on the table so I can add a piece once I decide what I want to do with it..Missy keeps walking over the pieces so I will let it be for awhile..then I've a few pieces to cut to finish the matching lamp I made for Paul a few weeks ago, wouldn' t take me a lot of time to cut and foil the remaining pieces. Then I look over and see the Melanie's quilt I'm quilting and think I should get at it as well..
will be interesting to see exactly what I get done..know it will be flitting from one project to another..
just remembered the little farmers market is open right next to the church before getting to the stained glass studio so just might leave early, drop off the phone, get a few things at farmers market then to purchase bevels..
there will go my morning lol
what are you all up to..hope it's a sunshine day for you all
Sunshine day here, little ones are safe from harm.
Wonderful news Karen!
Didn't take me long to do the market and pick up bevels..
Now to play
Karen .. how wonderful you can, and do, provide a safe haven for your children and grands ..
When I volunteered with the Victims Crisis Assistance here in TBay with the police, I saw so many families who would NOT stand up and lend a helping hand to family who were in need, it was just awful to watch the looks of dejection on a persons face. I finally had to stop volunteering after 5 years .. broke my heart.
Betty .. I guess Kyle has some major tenacity working for him !! I tried to do what he did at Future Shop once, the salesperson just laughed at me !!! Good for Kyle :-)
As for the BlackBerry phone, well, I think it'll be toast if just because of the dew in the mornings.
As always you're busy .. if you or Sharon find that SKY HOOK (portable model) please do put my name down for one .. I just had to be rescued while putting the blueberry pie in the oven, just a tad too low for me, had no prob with the cheese loaf as it just kinda slid in, but, the pie is on a cookie sheet (in case) .. can't manage that yet ..
There's a country fair out this way this weekend .. it's about 4 miles from us, but, I doubt I'd be able to walk around the grounds .. doubtless we'll have a visit from some 'townies' LoL seems some folks don't make it out this way til this time of year when the country fairs start popping up.
Best get 'at it' doing something ..
~M~
Sheesh .. 'paint me green and call me GUMBY', what I learned today (already) .. NEVER take for granted the fact the weatherman just might be 50% (or more) WRONG .. was going to HELP hang sheets on the line, and POOF .. rain .. !!!!!
Jeeze Looeeze!!!
~M~
Overcast here for about 1/2 hr..thought rain for sure but passed me by and travelled your way "M"' Lordy could almost spend the day raking..this dry weather is playing havoc with the trees, we'll be lucky to have fall colors in October!
I'm soon going to look like a tomatoe and ear of corn if I don't soon stop eating them.
It is raining here. There is a hurricane moving up the west side of The Baja. We are hoping that the slow steady rain with no wind will continue but have done lots of prep in case it gets worse. The dogs are not used to rain but stay calm through everything - as long as they get fed.
Tony and I went to town and did errands so I am stock up. Have my battery-operated light and fan. Propane light and burner adn batter operated cj player. What did people do before electricity.
With a storm like this we might loose electricity, for a few days or a week so don't worry if I don't post.
I've had a hugely busy week which has included a major lifting of pain and derpession.
Halleluiah. Misspelled but you know what I mean.
hugs, katie
The tops of my lilac trees, have all turned black and leaves are dropping like crazy.
All my potted plants are dead, very odd...they keep til fall usually. I have been very vigil
in their care as they were beautiful.
Trees are not turning yet...but weather is.
KATIE!!!! So happy to hear from you.....depression is so very hard. Sending hugs,
Prayers for better feeling and days.
Debbie
Summer? We had 3 days in July.
Oh Katie, you made my day with your post, you know we worry about you..off with the depression as best you can, you have family here and we will hold your hand through it all..will be watching the tropical storm, sure hope it misses you or gives you time to prepare..do you board things up? With being on high ground does it help in anyway. Thank the lord you have tony to help you through all..give him a hug from us will you. How's the furries, all been behaving?
Debbie, I usually have gorgeous hanging baskets as well, done everything but all are dead. Even the area in the back that has cement slabs 24 x 24 and same in grass, forms checkerboard pattern has no grass just burnt turf, guess the cement got too hot this summer and killed it.
Thought I'd have a bloom on the everlasting lilac shrubs but not, they to dried up..just an odd summer..either everything drowns or burns.
Debbie, what are your plans for next weekend, long weekend, anything special..thought I might drive to Buffalo Sunday morning, still not sure??
OH Betty, can't do Sunday at all. Moving Nate back to college.
Was just a thought, perhaps the weekend after
Afternoon everyone. Been busy shopping for school clothes and supplies for the boys. What a chore that is. Glad it is only once a year.
Katie so glad to see you posting. Please take care during that storm.
Katie, save passage through the storm, hopefully it won't affect you too badly, fingers crossed.
SO happy to hear about your depression lifitng, have a dear friend who suffers with it but is on medication, doesn't like the meds, but, without them she is so dark ..
I HAVE TO get pics off the phones/camera, our flowers this year have been STUNNING!! DH and Lorna have done a wonderful job of watering and tending to them. Seems we (me) went through a pink/fuschia stage this year LoL
Brutal storm is passing north and west of us .. can hear it rumbling away .. anyone camping in Wabikimi is battened down !!
DH just called from the Sports show he's at, he and his 2 buds have a table, DH hasn't sold much, but his buddy has done well .. 'sometimes' I bake for them so they can sell muffins or loaves or something, but, not this time round .. kept the baking at home.
LindaK .. I can't imagine shopping for school supplies AND clothing for back to school .. it has to be so pricey ... saw an add for WalMart .. little girls jumpers (dresses) on SALE for $15.00, that does not include the blouse to go under it and the leggings and shoes !!!
My grands are pretty much set for school (I think)
Betty, hope you and Debbie can connect for a Buffalo weekend :-)
Off I go ..
~M~
