Best/Worse/What did I learn today?? Chat with friends

My condolences re 'cece'. Very disconcerting to hear of someone so young passing away.

Just so you all know, I'm having one hecuva time renewing with Daves. So frustrating, have never had this trouble ever. I'm being instructed to enable cookies through Internet options.. Tried it no dice. So I wrote Daves and complained. How after 8 years, or more do I now have a problem?
Going to try renewing using the tablet. If it doesn't work I may have to let Daves go. Sure going to hate doing that.

So,off I go to try renewing via the tablet. If I don't come back, well, I'll sure miss everyone

Hugs a bunch

Thunder, it is terrible how much postage is these days. I try to use fed ex when shipping large boxes, they are a lot cheaper.
Sending you ((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))) I kmow it is hard to see the kids grow up, and go out on their own.
Love the shadow on your truck.

'M' so glad to hear your still with us.

((((Thunder)))) I so understand. And as I was reading your post and tearing up.....DS actually called.

He will only be a phone call away to hear his voice Thunder...hang on to that for now.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

ups...the guys weighed and measured the boxes and went to 4 different web sites. ups was the least expensive... insuring them was what cost. all his game components ...ps3 , xbox, etc.. tons of games...cost half a fortune to buy them !!!

we will have a few more boxes here to send to him as he needs them. more clothes, some books.... very odd the things children want to take with them. and what they want us to save for a later date.

I still have boxes here that are Levi's. He moved out 14 yrs ago. every time I ask him about them, he says " will you just hold on to them?"

we will skype often....if the internet will let us ??? brother in law has very poor service, way up in the mountains...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I never buy postal insurance unless it is a new item. A few years ago I mailed some stuff to my son, and it arrived broken. I mailed it with insurance, and when I made the claim, they said sorry, unless you have receipts, it is not covered. So I don't waste my money on insurance anymore.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hugs Thunder, yes the shadow is a good sign.
My goodness, few more $$$ and you could drive it there, well almost!

Feel for you and Debbie having kids so far away but as you say 'skype' allows you time together ..what will he be doing in Washington State?

Never buy postal insurance either..lordy it cost me $80 to send the sewing machine to Florida and almost double that had I gotten insurance..

Debbie so HAPPY your son called ^_^

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Feel so bad for you Thunder, everytime my son hints that the company he works for is 'making changes' I cringe because I think he's going to get transferred to the west coast !!
Hopefully Skype will work for you ..
My granddaughter was showing me 'facetime' on her iPad today, pretty nifty ..

I have UPSd stuff to Lorna's parents, paid the insurance cost and have kicked myself in the tuckettes for doing so as NOTHING ever gets broken or lost .. BUT .. ya just NEVER know !!

Best rattle some pots and pans, just spags for supper .. truth be told DH does most of the work ..

I've been leaving my main grocery order for a bit seeing I'm into corn, tomato/cuc sandwhiches and not being home a lot on the weekend..dread my 1st big order of the fall.

Will have to stock up for sure if Kyle looks after the furries for me when I'm in Florida come fall..lots/lots treats.

"M" did you hear that 12 or so were sent to hospital last night, food poisoning at the CNE (EX)?
They think it may have had something to do with hamburgers, you know how they develop a new 'food' each year..still investigating.

I am here. Been fighting off a chest cold. Everytime zi get a cold it immediately goes to my lungs.

Probably either the DDT, our dad used to spray over our heads as we were playing, or the atomic bombs we watched get very bright in the sky in the early a.m. in the 50s. Thank goodness we had a couple of mountains between us and the bombs.

We were 105 today but that is our normal temperature for this time of year. We will starting cooling down in a few weeks. Once below 100, it is a piece of cake.

Betty, I could never go with you on one of your trips. I would never be able to keep up. Especially getting up early and staying up late.

Go glad everyone is getting back to being well.

I actually stopped making major grocery shopping trips. Was to hard to load into the car and then unload into the house. So I make smaller trips now. I do the majority of my shopping at Trader Jo's and Whole Foods. Food may be a little more expensive but the stores are smaller and it does not take to much food for the two of us. And they are both close by where we live. Whole Foods also have a fantastic salad bar. And they sell cooked fish. I do a terrible job of cooking fish. And Trader Jo's has a great bakery section and they have small portions or large. DH does not eat large portions anymore. I do not bake. Never eat sweets so I never learned how to bake.

I canceled two appointments this week because of this cold. Got it from our 15 yr old DGS who got it from his 2 year old cousin.

That corn sounds great. I have not had any all summer. And one of my favorite sandwiches is a cucumber, vadelia onion and red radish with a dash of salt and pepper.

I will chat at you all later. So glad everyone is in high spirits.

Sharon

Mary, cross post. Yes, I am a lurker. Hugs, Sharon

I have never been to a Trader Joes...

Oooooh Trader Joe's. I miss them so much, My fav spot to shop when we were down state.

Baton Rouge, LA

Okay Silio.... Please inform ! LOL (HUGS) What is the deal with TJ's.....

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Mary, Trader Jo's is a boutique grocery store. Mostly organic, sales cut flowers inexpensive, and orchid plants. Great place to people watch and usually very eccentric, wealthy individuals shop there or hippies. And they do not sell gelato. Whole Foods has a gelato bar next to their coffee bar.

There is a gelato shop near by that sells a sampler. Either 5 or 10 scoop samples. I usually buy a 10 scoop for my friend for her birthday. It is in a Styrofoam container with slots just a little bigger than an eggs carton slots. Quite pricey but a great idea.

Here in Vegas, everything is prepackaged except some fresh vegetables and fruit. Small portions. A lot of single customers. And older couples that do not eat much.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Mary, cross post.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I have a few favs. at TJ's. I love their whole grain oat bread. They also have Mandarin Chicken in their frozen section. I serve it over their jasmine rice (nuke 3 mins). Yummy fast dinner.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Trader Joe's are nice, we don't have one here either! I went to one when I was visiting my Brother in Washington State, it was quite nice, but I agree, kind of pricey!

Betty, are you sleeping in today?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I don't do big shopping at Joe's but we do have a few favs we go for every other week or so.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Hiya ^_^

All our grocery stores here in Thunder Bay are large chain stores .. we did have a local grocer open a trendy small market with organic foods etc, but, after a year it closed, I miss it as it was a convenient store to go to when coming from the country.

BAD day for Lorna today .. funny how life goes on, you jump the little hurdles, sometimes fall but get up and go onwards.
Well .. she had her INR checked today, has it done every 3-4 weeks, a finger poke .. GASP .. it was 3.7 !!! Highest ever .. we kinda thought it would be a bit higher as she has been bruising easily .. so .. BAM .. wheels go into motion .. the INR is checked at a private clinic, Lorna's hematologist works from the Cancer Clinic, so, over we go and she had a full blood draw at 1230 .. came home, phone rang at 2pm, her platelets (she has a blood disorder that makes them low) were A OK .. whew !! She was some nervous, as was I.
Her dental appt for a cleaning was cancelled, no way would our dentist let the hygenist work on her.
Sooooooooooooo .. an exciting day, so far.
My physiotherapist comes here at 5pm, adding MORE dang exercises ..
Just finished chopping stuff for 'scallop creole' .. sure hope I do not OVER cook the scallops ..

Lovely day .. 85F .. no humidity //

I guess I best go get another set of "Es" done ..
I see via CNN there has been a bus accident in Los Angeles , sounds kinda serious.

Hope everyone is doing better than well ..
