Why is it when we get sick in the summertime that it seems to just last forever? Winter illness seems to fly be but not in the summer. Maybe because there are so many things we want to do outside and we can't go?? So glad to hear you are on the mend Karen.
Take care "M" and don't overdo. Last thing you want right now eh?

Hats off to health care staff in Thunder Bay
Tuesday, August 13, 2013
I have read many letters that come down hard on health care in Thunder Bay, and, truth be told, I may have been one of them. But, tables do turn, and, in my case, for the better.
I had to have a total hip replacement done in July, and I have to say that from pre-admission visits to discharge and after, I dealt with nothing but congenial, knowledgeable health-care professionals.
Pre-docking (which takes about two hours a few days before surgery) was fast and efficient. All the staff in that department were courteous and kind. Let’s face it, anticipating surgery is not pleasant and they are aware of that.
Surgical day care the morning of surgery was awesome. Nurses Debbie and Pat looked after my admission with smiles and encouragement.
The anesthetist and his assistants stayed with me as I asked question after question, and answered everyone. No one was clock watching , or in a rush.
The OR staff were busy, but transferred me with ease to the OR table. I woke up in recovery room greeted by a very friendly face. Nurse Delia was wonderful as I “came up” out of the anesthetic.
Two hours later I was on 3A and the four days spent there were tough, but I had just the best of care. The nurses are hard working, but, willing to stop and lend a hand. The dietary staff always friendly, as is housekeeping.
Can’t say enough about the physio department. They have a tough job and have to watch us all go through the post-op pain while pushing us for our own good.
The student nurses, Tristan and Nargis, you’re going to make incredible nurses!
My only complaint is discharge and trying to get into a vehicle in a very congested parking area. Wouldn’t it be nice to have an area painted in red, set aside for patients being discharged post-op, with a staff member available to help with the procedure.
Summing up: kudos to Thunder Bay’s health care network.
Even at home, my community nurse and physiotherapist have been nothing but stellar professionals.

Wonderful letter Marilyn!!! Very well put.
Oh "M" what a wonderful letter and a great suggestion, let's hope they take heed..
Karen, glad you are starting to feel better.
Wonder how Deb is doing, she was off galavanting again wasn't she?
LindaKay, Kyle is here visiting..
He received your card, didn't know who would send such a gift especially as he doesnt know anyone stateside...Greg told him to ask grandma.
we are gabbing here about your generosity and kindness..just made his day and mine!
Mary, Kyle was just telling me of a new store in barrie, sells gilato , soup, salad, sandwiches
Small gilato cost him $3.25
Said that everything left over from the day , meat, salads, cookies are all thrown away at end of day..I told him about you, said too bad it wasn't closer. Lol
Glad to hear the card arrived.
So sad all that food goes to waste.
Betty so glad you had such a wonderful time! You all had a blast!!! Thank you for sharing the pics, those are awesome!
Debbie thank you! I decided to quit straightening my hair and let it do it's natural thing, it's not a ton easier but it feels better.
Joyce Hobby Lobby had their floral stems and pottery/ceramics/pollyresin on sale last week, this week it's glass/metal/wood. The floral stems, along with the pottery/ceramics/etc will be on sale again next week. The sales just flip flop.
Susan I am sooooooo happy for you!!
AAAWWW Thunder that's awesome!! Washington State is gorgeous, how awesome for him!
Betty big hugs going out to everyone, it was a bad day everywhere. Drats Drats and more Drats here too!!
Yes Kudos Marilynne! That's a nice letter. I don't think I know anyone who could have said that so perfectly! And be careful! I bet it was nice getting out, so glad you had such a great breakfast!
Well I've had a weird day, have been nervous all day for some reason but don't know why. I gotta work tomorrow so I think I've caught up and waving to anyone I missed. Hopefully I'll see y'all tomorrow!
Hello To All !
Marilyn - I love that letter.... so nice because many folks just write when they are upset but not to give thanks... and from an RN perspective it means just that much more... I'm also happy you had a great day... sounding so "UP" !
Betty so sad for the troubles Ann and Darlene are going through....
Glad Kyle told you about the shop... was hoping you'd get to the one on N. Peters but if there is one in Barrie you may need to try it. I am hoping we don't waste food at all. At least I'd find a soup kitchen to bring it to. Would try to make croutons from leftover bread. We are also wanting to compost so I'm wondering if a local community garden might pick up that. But overall this shop near you sounds very much like the one we are working towards...
Beautiful pics ! Good to "See" Crissy ! looking happy there gal....
Bosses have been "nice" lately.... don't know is it the surveys in the "suggestion box" ? Is it the fact that we now have had 4 people resign (3 weeks) and they are busy with newbies?
Witchy showed her teeth (smile) Monday and it was somewhat frightening....
Have someone coming over tomorrow to teach me quickbooks...Hope this week flys by... so can get my mushrooms in the ground .
Got to meet up with Jean/moonie soon....
Anniv 8/2, Hubs bday 8/12 - we went to dinner tonight.... my bday 8/18... headed to MIL and FIL house for family get together.... what a busy busy month
(HUGS)
Mary
Morning everyone!
~M~ I agree, that was a very nice letter you wrote!
have a few minutes before I start sewing..
last stop was Nashville
Grand Ole Opry
was greeted by a man who asked if I knew who he was...
yep, Hank Williams, you died January 1st in Birmingham Alabama, the car you drove is in that museum..he said I impressed him with my knowledge lol
nightlife on Music Row
Morning ^_^
Thanks to everyone re the letter I wrote. Seriously though, the KUDOS were well deserved.
Surgery was a MONDAY morning (NEVER a good day in the hospital as all the weekend backlog id dropped on the Monday day staff) but, everyone was smiling and encouraging, kept thinking I had reached 'Nirvana' LoL
Physiotherapist came last evening .. OMG .. next week she is ADDING 3 more new exercises, so, I MUST MUST MUST be faithful to the ones I have to do now .. pays off in the end.
Love the pics Betty .. and, yes, that Parthenon must be a site to behold !!
The pic with 'Hank' is lovely ..
DH would SO love to do the Grand Old Opry .. but, it's the DOGS factor with us ..
Beauty day here .. sunny and warm (maybe 80 later)
DH brother coming for coffee this aft, so, baking a blueberry loaf, a first for me ..
Inuk is just gorgeous, Sharon must spend hours grooming the dogs.
Ours go for their grooming this Friday, how the groomer does it is anyones best guess, but, the dogs like her, and Terriers are notably stubborn !!
I think Lilly might be a 'nipper', nothing has been said though, and, Piper is just a lover anyway you look at him LoL
Best get at this baking
Hugs all around

Inuk is so beautiful! I know Sharon is proud of her dogs!
Love your outfits Betty! And those gardens are awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you LindaKay, never wear anything in the summer that needs ironing..when packing for 10 days was great I didn't need to iron wrinkles out as the others did..
OMG pulled into Joyce's and she look grand in the same outfit design but with large orange flowers..said she ordered 4 or 5 of them..only needs to order about 12 more and she'll be caught up with me lol
"M" you got our sunshine..was 54F when I left home today! looks like sun is shinning so likely warming up.
"M" put the doggies in the kennel or have family look after them..Nashville is one of my favorite places to visit (aren't they all)!
Sharon is indeed proud of her dogs..she's worked extremely hard with with and spend mega $$$
to have them compete in the best of shows..
almost done the 2 pillow sham tops..will quilt and put together and voila ..will look for black decorative pillows for the set along with black pillow cases... going to look through my stash and see if I have black / white glass that I can make a lamp to match or not lol
Sending prayers to all of you! Betty, praying for the babies and Ann. praying for all of you struggling with health issues. I've been busy with my mom and my daughter the past two days. Mom had a colonoscopy Monday and took care of her! All went well... no problems, no biopsies!
Destiny went for her first doctor visit yesterday for the baby! All is perfect! Got to watch the ultrasound... perfect little baby with little eyes, arms, and legs forming! Could see the heartbeat... and I cried tears of joy! Please keep her and the baby in your prayers. Destiny is still nervous because of the past miscarraige, but I have faith that God has a greater plan! ♥
Will catch up later. Love y'all
Gotta love those ultra sounds, sure wish we'd had such a thing. Our most exciting was when son and DIL were expecting quads. Not a good out come but was sure great while it lasted.
Julie, glad all went well for Destiny and your mom..
I too wish they had ultra sounds in our day, heck, hubbies couldn't even come into the room!!!
Karen, my heart goes out to you..not to be, big sigh!
What are you working on, always something I know..
Actually with they ones they then adopted..all came out well. Hard to lose the babies but sure love the ones we got.
Julie, how far along is she?
Betty, I agree, technology sure has come a long way.
I ne ER had an ultra sound, and hubbies were not allowed in the delivery room. Back then, it was a separate room.
I can't even imagine having a year off with pay once you've had the baby, some father's take the year rather than the wife depending on employment.
Hubby was always glad I was so fast. He would drop me off, go register me, and come see what we had. He never had to go to fathers waiting room.
I will have to go back and read but...not a good morning.
Shannon was in a pretty bad car accident shortly after 11:00 this morning.
Just back home from hospital. She had CT scan, has bulging discs in the neck/spine area, and
a very messed up left knee.
She thought she had more time/space when making a turn and a large SUV hit her. Could have been a lot worse than it was.
Debbie
Ty for the congrats on the job - really looking forward to the training lol
Oh Debbie, so sorry to hear that! Sending lots of prayers your way! Is she still in the hospital? Does she need surgery?
Susan, when do you start training?
OMG Debbie is Shannon ok? Keeping her in the hospital? What a fright it must have been for you..prayers and hugs coming your way.. hate to think what could have been.
Susan, bet you are getting anxious
They sent her home, she needs to see her doctor in the monring and then get a referral to
a neuro surgical specialist to look at her scans and her back/neck.
Because of her immune system and other issues, nobody wants to touch her...or keep her in the hospital due to that.
Keep us posted please?
Most definitely.
She is trying to nap, didn't hit her head, but checking every 30 minutes.
I did have a Betty moment though....wanted to ask the officer to frisk me at the hospital!!!
LOL!
Oh Debbie, at least you didn't lose your sense of humour through this. Lol
Not sure if I told you but at a bar on Music row a young door attendant was asking everyone for I.d. Asked him if he wanted mine, said no I.d. Necessary but maybe I should frisk you so up to him I went and he did so I got back in the line- up and said, want to frisk me again. Lol
Got a laugh and boy was he a looker
Sending positive thoughts and prayers for you and Shannon Renee. To quote Santa Warren ' cars can be fixed people can't' - this after a totaled a gorgeous Delta Royale 88.
Debbie, best of luck with the neurologist and the ensuing treatment for Shannon .. worrisome for sure .
Crissy, prayers are being said for Destiny's baby .. everything seems in order though ^_^
Laughing re the 'frisking' .. DHs firehall got regular calls to a seniors complex, someone would pull the alarm, the firefighters would arrive, and these 2 old dolls in their 90s would proceed to invite them for coffee and cake ... wasn't too long after the third call that the alarm system got changed over LoL
Company over the afternoon was pleasant, lots of laughs, BUT, I still won't get on my brother in laws Harley !! It's a beauty, loud and powerful, but, I have NO desire to go for a ride !!
I am a bonafide CHICKEN !!!
Can't believe it's time to do those dang exercises again !!!!
Off I go

Evening all, Greg dropped in the other night but no sewing machine..he had been on holidays last week and the are remodeling the office so nothing could be found, yesterday he was in North Bay and wouldn't be home nearing midnight.
Soooo tonight he delivered my sewing machine, you know the one that I haven't bonded with. Lol
Haven't tried it yet but there was a letter enclosed with it from Jackie in Fort Myers.

Juanita's Sew and Serge
Midland, Ontario
Oh happy days, it's about 5 miles from my house, main street in midland.
Almost intimidated, not sure I want to try it.
Greg was just about to leave when I asked him to explain the ac/furnace thing
Explained it, pressed buttons, asked if I understood
I said yes, he said, mom you can't see a da¥n thing, go get your glasses and don't say you do when you know you don't...oh/oh
Dianne, how are you feeling..hope better.
Was gabbing with a few girls and we were talling Christmas and Santa Warren came to mind, won't be that many months we'll be doing our 3rd Christmas exchange..often think how he enjoyed us getting our boxes.
"M" glad you passed on a motorcycle ride. Lol
I won't get on a motorcycle , like you am chicken but I did ride the spider and if they weren't so expensive I would have me one.
That is just too cute about the women and firemen..you do know you've given me food for thought..perhaps when I cook I ought not put the fire out, we've some mighty good looking firemen
I imagine Shannon will be pretty sore Debbie. I'm so sorry this had to happen. Hope the Doctor tomorrow has encouraging words....
Dianne. Glad to see you posting! Hope your doing well. Who totaled the car?
Betty glad to hear you have your machine back with a local warranty!
Debbie's daughter Shannon was in the accident....
Goodness, your up early!
Morning everyone! I will be gone for the morning, off to go pick up the two oldest Grandsons to babysit for the week. I am meeting ex DIL in Uvalde, one hour from here to get the boys. I should be back by noon or so.
